(313) ID people in Carl Craig's Televised Green Smoke video?
Hey y'all well, beside it being one of my favourite CC tunes and techno music videos in general - I've always wondered who the extras are in the video I recognize CC of course (with headphones on) There's a few more prominently featured repeating figures in the video: 1) a woman with long dark hair 2) two guys who come across pedestrian bridge and look into camera 3) some other younger dudes - one guy with bike at beginning, one tall guy with maybe kinky hair pulled back into ponytail, one guy in burgundy jacket (later he has a bike), one guy in blue puffy jacket with short hair walking with another guy wearing a puffy bomber style jacket. Later the two guys with the puffy jackets get into a fight with the guy in the burgundy jacket. are the extras in the vid people who worked for Craig @ Planet E, other producers, or other people who went on to produce (CC proteges?) looks like the whole thing was shot in the UK (or maybe mainland Europe) by the looks of the houses in the background here's the vid if you're wondering what I'm going on about http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IwUQ5oKM-hE so, anyone recognize these people? RE: (313) ID required, plus a little London spam
I did buy the Pavel Kostuik (sp?) 'mini-LP' though - buy on sight. Also Mute, 'Direct Cuts' EP on Running Back. Now *that* is a real Detroit groove, albeit via Frankfurt am Main! I can definitely second the Mute recommendation: excellent, excellent record. But I'll have to disagree with it being a real Detroit groove, it sounds a lot more Chicago (think Ron Trent, et al) than Detroit to me. Oh, I stand by my idea of it sounding 'Detroity'! I corresponded with his label for a review. He is a Detroit head. Although I admit, *sounding* like Detroit is in the ear of the beholder. I've had no luck yet at finding that Pavel Kostiuk LP, anybody know how limited it is? Perhaps too limited for any copies to reach NZ on their own. RE: (313) ID required, plus a little London spam
I saw this yesterday and listened to it too. It's a tool but it's a not too average one. Side A is just really various ways of doing a breakbeat for about 7 mins with really not much else going on. It's the least impressive track. Side B uses a highly processed string sample and not much else, but it does create a real atmosphere. I listened all the way through and there is no variation, hence my assignment of it as a tool. It could be useful for some folks who like to drop things in only as an interval between another mix, before the other track is out - or as a very long accompaniment to something with more definition or whatever. I doubt it's anyone well-known trying to create a stir - although ok, it really isn't anything that special. I didn't buy it. I did buy the Pavel Kostuik (sp?) 'mini-LP' though - buy on sight. howdy peeps i recently saw a strange looking record. it had a mostly black cover with a low quality photo of a couple of guys. i *think* it was called 'death disco', or something very similar (it was not the PIL record) it had very little info on the back and i think it was 4 tracks. it looked old kinda home made but it coulda been new. couldn't listen to it in the shop dammit. it looked cool. anyone know what this is? thanx a bunch. i hope the new LFO is nice not ugly like advance, except for ultraschall and loch ness, very pretty . the first 3 or 4 tracks on frequencies are truly wonderful. oh yeah - genre alert - i saw a new comp described as NEGROCLASH p-dogg

[313] id me control (was: plastikman tracks)
ok enough drama. I really would like to know that tracks I asked about in my_orignal_post. it was around 9:30 am it sounded classic rockish with the bass line really reminding me of a classic blues song redid by a late 60's early 70's artist. (really fustrated I can not remember the name of the artist/song) this track had the bassline from this song and it had some guitar in it to. it was way dope. then it was the plastikman plane sounds. then it went in to what sounded like to me, to be, a new plastikman track (but not one he handed out, I have the mini cd). it sounded very sheet one in influence. I'm really what to know what the classic rock sounding track was, my curiousity is boiling over. scotto lansing, mi. - Original Message - From: ::P [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: Placid [EMAIL PROTECTED]; 313@hyperreal.org Sent: Thursday, September 05, 2002 12:17 PM Subject: Re: [313] new (unreleased) plastikman tracks read this carefully: you all should know that these tracks are out there, it was discussed on this list a couple months ago and is also mentioned on www.richiehawtin.com the other day someone asked if there was perhaps some new plastikman tracks and I said yes there are, and I will post them IF I get permission. does anyone know the first track rich played it remined me of king crimson or yes. and mike played bc 09 he mixed it with a track with a really cool conga line in anyone remember? anyone get one of the new cd's rich is handing out? I'm curious we left at 3:30 how late did he play? for the record, it was great. rich tried jacking the sound up really really loud but one of the speakers started to clip. :) yea he was really_testing_that system.(lol) it's hard to hear the clipping in the dj booth he spun a nice set and it was a reasonable volume. I didnt catch much of kevin saunderson because rich did a good enough job to keep me where I was :) yea I'm glad they used the house system because I forgot my ear plugs(again.. doh!). but the crowd, heat and rain from the ceiling (moisture condensing the a/c falling with each bass beat) pushed me out from time to time. kevin had a really nice set. played tons of tracks i reconised with a smile. There is also a digital mixer in the third picture, but it's too blurry to tell. Can I at least share the crown?? RE: [313] ID Rother's gear
The grey thing under the micro modular is a Jomox Xbase 09 drum machine. An excellent choice for a drum machine! :) Peace, Patrick. - Southern Outpost Distributed worldwide via Twilight 76 http://www.southernoutpost.com p:+61 412 313 151 f:+ 612 9032 6046 - -Original Message- From: Dennis Donohue [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Wednesday, 20 March 2002 5:29 AM To: '[EMAIL PROTECTED]' Cc: '313@hyperreal.org' Subject: RE: [313] ID Rother's gear In the first picture, he's got a Nord Micro Modular (red thing on top right), a Virus A rack(bottom black and red), some crazy sequencer(grey thing that almost looks like a 909), and some stuff that I can't see (black boxes). [313] ID for clubs
Hi What is a good form of ID to get into clubs and bars in Detroit. Coming from the UK its not a problem here, but I've been told that ID will be essential in Detroit. I don't really want to be carrying my passport around, is there any standard photo ID you can pick up once we are over there? Any advice will be appreciated. Regarding DJ Unknown/Unknown DJ and Techno-Cut Records... Does anyone know if/where these are available as re-issues? There's a track by Unknown DJ/DJ Unknown on the label that is gorgeous, I've been looking for it forever. It seems like it was big in Detroit, I have it on a lot of WGPR mixtapes from 1991. It has sweet piano chords in it and sort of a bass/freestyle drumtrack... I've heard the 12 once - it has a clean instrumental on one side and then the other side has samples (vocals etc.) all over it. Any info appreciated! environ * 73 mandeville drive * wayne, NJ 07470-6566 * USA [EMAIL PROTECTED] * http://www.webspan.net/~environ
Re: Subject: Sv: (313) ID help
If the vocal side has a sample saying something about house - house music, then... It's called Basstronic, by the Unknown DJ. Not sure of the label name but the cat # is DYF-016. A personal favorite of mine. I picked up a new copy last December here in San Francisco, so it is likely still in print. Distribution may be very poor however. I bought the record from Open Mind Music on Divisadero, so you might try giving them a call at 415.621.2244. They regularly get in new copies of all that old LA electro stuff. -e p.s. embarassingly I used to mix the instrumental version of this with the acapella mix of Nu Nu by Lidell Townsell. Now if anyone remembers THAT record I'll be really surprised. :) On Tue, 28 Sep 1999, environ wrote: Regarding DJ Unknown/Unknown DJ and Techno-Cut Records... My yearly shameless plug: Oh yeah, I am playing at Tresor in Berlin on 4 DEC 99. I'd like to meet those of you in Berlin, if possible.
