Re: [AI] Visually impaired can see now!
I lost my eyesight due to wrong medication by doctor when I was a young boy. Can I join this training and be able to see again? I am quite fed up with my blindness. Earlier I was happy to be blind but not now any more. No not at all. I want to see again. Re: [AI] Visually impaired can see now!
This is the most interesting thread on Access India since my joining the group 10 years ago. Why not provide the contact details of those who underwent the training? We have members from almost all the parts of the country. One of us can personally meet those people. While I completely agree with Rajesh that its worth a trial even if marginally increases the visual ability, its equally important to ensure that no one falls into the trap of false claims. Can some NGO in Delhi take the responsibility of personally visiting the camp and give the feedback? On 11/29/18, Mohit Gupta wrote: > hi > these techniques called mid brainactivation. hi these techniques called mid brainactivation. No trainer will tell about it clearly. I had approached many mid brain trainers in my city but they refused to conduct for me. they said that a person who know real colour and texures of things can participated in this. Hi shobhan, Videos are of limited utility to those of us who cannot see. Upload them by all means but ensure that they are described. What technique are you using? Is this echo location? Is there research backing this kind of claim? Sixth sense does not make any sense to me. Re: [AI] Visually impaired can see now!
Going by the email address of the sender, I can say that I know Shobhan personally and he is not sighted. If he has recently got his sight back and that's what he has communicated to Nirmal, then Nirmal should immediately clarify to avoid any dangerous miscommunication. Apart from this, the communication about the camp has been misinforming right from the beginning. If the camp is going to provide treatment to people with visual impairment, then the communication should have specified it as a treatment camp and not a training camp. Hope the intentions are good, but the way things are unfolding hints at something downrightly unethical. Regards. Re: [AI] Visually impaired can see now!
Some call it mid brain activation. I have seen sighted children reading blind folded, and identifying things and persons. But they said it can be tried in children younger than 15 and when I offered myself as potential candidate along with my children, apart from age, they said congenitally blind cannot be trained. Would love to explore, though. -Original Message- From: AccessIndia [mailto:accessindia-boun...@accessindia.org.in] On Behalf Of shobhan singh Sent: 28 November 2018 12:12 To: AccessIndia: a list for discussing accessibility and issues concerning the disabled. Re: [AI] Visually impaired can see now!
I have talked to shobhan and what i could infer from the conversation is this 1. Shobhan is sighted. 2. He has done workshops in sonipat with blind children. 3. All those children who have gone through the workshops can see now like sighted children. 4. He will upload videos of blind children who can read and write after his training. 5. It is a sort of mind training which according to shobhan activates sixth sense. I have heard these kind of training but haven seen anything with blind children. Will wait to see his videos. [AI] The misuse of disability
420 drivers feigned colour blindness Nov 10, 2018, JJ found on examining 500 MSRTC, BEST drivers who gave 'certificates' to claim lighter duty. Three days after Mumbai Mirror reported how sting operations conducted by Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport on its own employees revealed that some drivers and conductors faked disabilities to get lighter duties, it has emerged that 420 drivers of Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) and BEST feigned colour blindness. They are part of the 500 drivers these two organisations had sent to JJ Hospital's ophthalmology department for eye check-up in the past two years. These drivers had submitted certificates from private doctors claiming that they are colour blind and unfit to drive. However, the JJ Hospital's ophthalmology department said that that tests on these employees revealed that 420 employees did not suffer from colour blindness and they were fit to drive. Drivers, conductors caught dancing, riding bikes after claiming severe disabilities BEST conducted sting operations on drivers, conductors after receiving anonymous complaints. While they submitted certificates citing over 40 per cent disability to claim 'lighter duty', videos expose the lies. After three of its employees were caught on video faking injuries, BEST has started investigations on 400 bus drivers and conductors who are currently on 'lighter duty' claiming more than 40 per cent disability. The undertaking had sacked two employees while one had resigned. Dr TP Lahane, senior ophthalmologist from JJ Hospital, who is a former Dean of the hospital, said, "In the last two years, we have conducted eye tests on nearly 500 bus drivers, and found them fit to drive. Most of them have been driving for the past more than 10 years, but, all of a sudden, complained of colour blindness. We could not believe their claims. With this vision problem, a person faces difficulty in distinguishing certain colors such as blue and yellow or red and green. This problem usually gets detected in the childhood itself.'' Dr Lahane said, "We had asked the employees to undergo a procedure called anomaloscope test. The test reliably reveals if a person is color blind or not. We found that only 80 employees were colour blind. However, we came to know that these employees had not undergone the mandatory tests at the time of recruitment in 2011.'' Apart from the employees in Mumbai, the JJ Eye Board has cancelled more than 1,000 certificates issued by doctors in Nashik and Dhule as they were found to be bogus, said Dr Lahane. BEST committee chairman Ashish Chemburkar told Mirror, "Our teams are investigating and strict action will be taken against those found guilty of fraud. I have asked our vigilance team to investigate further. Many employees are under the scanner." of Grade A quality red sanders seized Consignment was meant to be exported to China. --- This email has been checked for viruses by AVG. https://www.avg.com Search for old postings at: http://www.mail-archive.com/accessindia@accessindia.org.in/ To unsubscribe send a message to accessindia-requ...@accessindia.org.in with the subject unsubscribe. [AI] Disability Certificate
Disability certificates to be issued from 72 district, govt hospitals - Times of India Sep 26, 2018, 12.36 AM IST Printed from PUNE: People with disabilities across the state will get disability certificates from not only government hospitals but also from the district and subdistrict health hubs from October 2. Besides, they will be issued Aadhaar-linked ID cards from the facilities as announced by the Union government. Around 72 government hospitals across the state at the district and taluka levels will be authorized to issue the certificates. The disabled people need these assessment certificates for availing of various government benefits. A government resolution (GR) issued by the health department on September 14 stated that as suggested by the state disability commissionerate, the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Bill, 2016, will be implemented in Maharashtra with all its provisions. The bill The bill provides reservation in education and employment to people with 21 disabilities, including two new added features - learning disabilities and blood-related disorders. Till now, the disability certificates were issued only at the district level. The authorities have now extended it to the general and sub-district hospitals. The GR advocates a medical board at each of these hospitals, with the head of the institution as its president and members from various specialities of medicines. The GR states that in the absence of the specialists, the members can be appointed on a contract basis. At the district and general hospitals, the civil surgeons of head the medical board. At the sub-district and rural hospital level, the medical superintendent will head the board and will also be the disability certificate issuing authority. At the main general civil government hospitals, the college dean will head the board and the medical superintendent will be member secretary "Commissioner (disability) Ruchesh Jaivanshi has been pushing for decentralizing the assessment process to make it easy for the disabled people to reach taluka-level hospitals and get the certificates," deputy commissioner (disability) Nitin Dhage said. "Most disabled persons had to travel from distant talukas to reach the government hospitals. They will be relieved now as they can get the certificates at the local level," Dhage said. Rafiq Khan, an activist from Prahar who has been raising concerns over the "poor implementation" of the 3% reservation for jobs for the disabled persons, welcomed the government's move. "Job reservation was on paper, but it was not being implemented properly," he said. --- This email has been checked for viruses by AVG. https://www.avg.com Search for old postings at: http://www.mail-archive.com/accessindia@accessindia.org.in/ To unsubscribe send a message to accessindia-requ...@accessindia.org.in with the subject unsubscribe.
