Re: [AI] small query for banking field
hello, thanks to share your experience. I just attended Dena bank interview last month for the post of clerk. Mainly questions are asked related with family background, eye sight problem, educational details like books and auther's names because I've done M.a in english literature, basic questions about banking like what is bank? which are the functions of RBI? what do you know about Dena bank? etc. Even I presented my laptop with using JAWS also. I also think interviews basically focus on our outer and inner personalities with our knowledge. I hope this experience help to others. By the way, I want to know which are general accounts in all banks? like Saving account, Current account, etc. This info is very comman so I must know about it, please guide me in this regard. Bijal. Re: [AI] Re (Mohit & Ajay) Using Driver as an escort, few concerns in socialization.
to enjoying college life and public events it's necessary to devlop friendship level. our new friends are not that much aware for visual disability, so it's require little time for them to adjust with us. and every where escort, really burdern for us. "mobility" doesn't mean only to holding white cane and walk with it on the road. Mobility includes to get help from other, to ask for help from other, to adjust with any escort, to get touch at our work place or new place without escort, etc. really now after losing total vision and getting diffrent experiences, I am able to devlope above points in mine. With extra tips and tricks, now i can travel alone by auto in my city. Even I did successful night journey by train in AC coch also. Yes, it's true, still I am unable to walk alone on road and catch auto or to walk on railway station. I know it's require time. whenever i come back to my city, my papa picks up from station. it doesn't mean, he himself enters in train and helps me. I should be prepare to leave train and stand on safe place at platform. only communication to others is necessary in such task. White cane is my magic stic and strong weppen during such journey. and in mohit's case, i think lake of proper communication with his friends. nothing else! and you have to devlop abilities which i mention above. after all, very good suggestions in prier mails. Re: [AI] I am in need of Scribe for SBI examination
Hello, Why don't you try to get touch with any good schools or tution classes directly of your town? It may be possible, nowadays schools are closed, but it may be possible to get any teacher's contact there. Believe me, somewhere and somebody is always ready to help us. Now 60% criteria has been removed, so little easy for us to find out scribe. I did it during IBPS clerk exam and I got success after going third school whithin four hours. hi, It was happend with me many times when I had little vision in past. while walking with my friends at diffrent places, they often forgot to inform me, there are stairs or other things. As soon as I put my legs on staris, I was really so much confused and afraid. I got angry many times and told them, please tell me before stairs. Actually our friends have no mistake in it. Gredually We are habitual at our known places, so they understand, this is the cause of vision, so they understand we can hendle this situation. It's true, to using cane in such cases to avoid such situations and be independent, but it's also true, really it's not easy to hold white cane in our hands, specially late and partially blind and young person. but hey, it's not impossible also. Re: [AI] Query regarding night's dreams of totally/born VI, & hearing /speech impaired.
Hello all, Thanks a lot to make this thread very interesting. Well, Vamsi sir, what are you thinking this? I was thinking to research on this subject, Then just hide my desire inside, but not control and thought to discuss on Access India. I read entire thread till its end. Now sharing my today’s breaking morning dream. In dream, I was talking on skype with my friend and discussed about something general news. It was my own room. Suddenly somebody knocked the door. I could not recognize who there was, even not visualize his or her face. Then my papa came with one man and informed me, Bijal, Deepak uncle and aunty are here. Then I came to know, oh, there was a lady, means aunty. Uncle asked me, Bijal, how are you? Then I don’t remember and dreamwas over. Now points are to be notable: In dream, .I could see my personal room completely. .I could not visualize the person’s face because he or she did not speak anything while knocking the door. .I could visualize my father’s face and voice because I’ve seen his face in past. .I could heard Deepak uncle’s voice because I talked with him on phone in waking life. But I could not see his perfect face and had to imagine his face after listening his voice. It might be happened because I talk him after losing my sight and never meet him till today. That's all. Re: [AI] Query regarding night's dreams of totally/born VI, & hearing /speech impaired.
Hello all, I lost my vision gradually and now even no light perception. If I am talking about dreams, no any difference between present and past. Same human being’s faces, moments and world which I saw earlier. In my daily routine life, I feel same visualization of objects, places and relatives of which I saw in my past. Many times, during conversation, my mind starts to imajine very minor human actions like moments of eyes, lips, nose, including entire body according opposite person’s voice and situation. So several times, I forget whether I have really no vision. I don’t know it’s a power of strong imagination, visualization or memory. Yes, it’s true, now having no colour perception, my mind doesn’t focus on colouring world, so many times, I use to ask colour of objects, and then no problem! Still waiting for experiences of totally/blind members. While writing mail, one more query, Is there any devise which can show our visualization or night dreams? Really smiling. Thanks a lot for all interest. Bijal. On 1/24/12, hemase...@ingvysyabank.com wrote: > > I too lost my vision over a 10 year deteriorating period. Re: [AI] Independent living skills
Rahul, Being a late blind, mobility training is necessary, but regarding other living independent skills,, it's better you learn from your real life experiences. Yes, you can gather informations about it. I agree with geeta mam's views. even some days to live far from your home will also help you a lot to learn all these. when you live in blind hostel for some days, you will start to learn automatically some skills like: .how to ask help from others. .if somebody ignore to help, how to manage situation and ask to other. .how to keep our luggage safe including all things in our bag. .Adjustment with new people and new situation. I get above all points from my real experiences while going diffrent workshops in diffrent states of India. Being a late blind , it is difficult to manage everything by own in beginning stage, but gradually you will be habitual of it. Hope helpful to you. Bijal. Re: [AI] Query regarding VI speakers in various programmes.
Dear list members, Thanks a lot for nice response. Mr. Avinash: Really nice piece of writing which you shared. These all factors are very necessary in general communication also, not in only public speaking. Regarding voice value, my father always teaches me, wherever you go in the world, sweet language and sweet nature help you a lot. As says, aadhi dunia toe aap aysay hee jeet logay! Thanks. Dear Lissy: Have you experience to use ppt while presentation? Pls, share more views. Renuka ma’m: completely agree with your suggestion regarding language. We should not use English for creating good image among audience. But yes, as Indians, if we are able to explain our views in mother tongue, hindi and English, we can reach to audience very easily. Mr. Phen: Confident English speaking? If it is for abroad case, agree with you. But what you do, if you are between average people of Kerala? Yes, Good manners, dressing and bold voice are needed. Mr. Mujtava: thanks for sharing very basic tips for presentation. Maitreya: About eye contact, If we focus on our lost vision, really it increase our extra ordinary confidence. I also feel it. Sharing my one school experience when I had vision. Our social science teacher used to give topics to some students, and those students presented their views in general. Not present, almost all mugged up. There was one very brilliant girl in my class. I was often surprised when she spoke as words by words like textbook, but her eyes were always to one corner of upper ceiling. The teacher always appreciated her memorised skills. Now really feel to laugh on her, how she was looking with her eye contact. Mr. Sadab: still I am confused in using ppt. Pls, focus more on it. Zoher sir: nice views. Thank you. Bijal. Re: [AI] Tips to manage without escort?
Hi all list members, After losing complete vision gradually for two years, Really I am facing many troubles in mobility. I took mobility training from Mitrajyothi, Benglore, then I am able to little confident in mobility, but still it all depends on our personal experiences. I totally agree with all points of Prateek, in which I realize benefits of cheerful communication skill and our body language and other tips witch Prateek shows in his number 8 tips. Extremely sorry to say but I have noticed many times in blind circle that some blind persons are habitual to see here and there, touching dress, nose, hairs and eyes while talking with others. Won’t it be effected on our image and being independent? By the way, I am waiting for some young, late and totaly blind girls experiences regarding mobility. Re: [AI] 'Signatures' Special Formalities for passport?
hi Amar & others! first of all, you should decide which letters you would like to include in your signature. Learn those letters first. Being a nurssary kid, start to learn "A" with big size and shape. you must take help of sighted person specially to point out each letters of your sign , through his/her fingers. Start to visualize its shapes and size in your mind and eyes. Hey! one more idea comes in my mind which I applied while teaching table menu to blind girls. With the help of braille, one sighted lady who knows braille , prepared whole table[with its colams and rows] on page. all girls came to know very well how the table looks on skrin in actual. Visualisation, other's fingers, and moveing your sight according his/ her fingers will help you. I have some more techniques to guide you, but words have some limitations for my explanation. Now about signature card: I have prepared one rough sign card in which there are three diffrent boxes with diffrent sizes, so I can sign, according to space of sign box on page. No need to put fingers here and there on page. of course! practise is required there. Hope it will be helpful to you. - Original Message - From: "Amar Jain" To: Sent: Thursday, October 14, 2010 11:52 AM Subject: Re: [AI] 'Signatures' Special Formalities for passport? First of all, thanks a lot to everyone for the feedback. From what I have observed, the bottom line is that you must do it in normal way, there is no such other way to deal with it. However, still looking forward for any ideas from anyone specially with regard to recognizing shapes. Dear Rajesh Sir, I will find the art. number, One thing which I for sure remember, that thumb impressions and signature other than Hindi and English or whatever is not contained in schedule 8th must be attested by notary or by gazetted officer or magistrate and should contain official seal etc... Hi Amar Good that you have decided to learn signature. However, I could not appreciate your following remark about thumb impression: "This provision of considering persons with thumb impression as illiterate was enshrined in our constitution at the time of making, which is not wrong because it gives protections to rural masses, but makes no difference between the literate and illiterate person." Will you Please quote the article of constitution in support of this contention? Hello, No urgency at all. I tried learning signing, using that scale which small kids use, in which you have letters as blocks and there that much space you need to move your pen and the letter is made. But again it requires hell lot of practice and I didn't find this idea of learning shape that useful. Then I also thought of an option to make one scale of your name itself so just move the pen in those blocks, and you can sign that. But then it might be not valid because what if someone steals that scale? Although legally I think hand writing experts report can be obtained to make it valid in case of any dispute. But don't know whether I am in right direction or not. Can you give me any other idea for learning on how to sign? Somebody also told that on Eyeway radio show there was a mention of some card board, but he didn't know in detail as to what it was and from where to get it. I am totally blind by birth, no idea of shapes of letters, have both plastic and aluminum signature guides. Re: [AI] questions regarding publishing articals innewspaper/magazine
hello sir! Thanks alot for your valuable guidance. - Original Message - From: "Subramani L" To: Sent: Saturday, August 28, 2010 8:56 PM Subject: Re: [AI] questions regarding publishing articals innewspaper/magazine Hai: Pl find answers below the questions. 1. From where, and how to start Think of the most important aspect or point of the subject you want to write about. That is the beginning. Make sure then that you cover every important aspect of the subject which must be both informative and interesting. Newspapers, and ,even more, magazines have strict criteria on the language, the precision and the level of interest (topicality) of the article submitted for publication by an external writer. So be very precise, clear and straight (using present tense) in your articles so that it is clear to the reader. Think of yourself as a reader and see if you would like reading the piece. If that doesn't sound correct to you think of where it can be corrected. You need at least five to ten drafts of the article to get it right (that is for the experienced writers). It is not just about language (a common perception amongst peoploe). No doubt that language has to be good, but accuracy of information, its usefulness and the way it is presented are equaly important. Work on all these aspects before posting the piece off to a newspaper/magazine. Pl convince yourself that it's worth it. If not work on it until you feel so. once one has finished writing that article, how to approach the news papers/magazines? Find out the telephone numbers of your local newspapers and speak to the features editor or anyone handling the topic you are trying to write abut. If you are not clear, speak to the person concerned and see if he/she can read your article and would like to consider it. The problem is, this exercise may take time. Think things from their point of view... If they want to publish a new writer's article and that turns out to be flawed (not that you write badly, but they don't know you), the persons accepting your article is answerable to the editorial board. So there are factors involved in acceptance or rejection of your article. Do not lose heart. I heard the story of "Regret" Iyer who used to write for newspapers who got his nicname since hundreds of articles he wrote to the papers used to return to him with "regret" letters (many newspapers have the culture of returning a writer's article with a letter regretting their inability to publish their article and wishing them good luck). Once your article comes with the by-line, you would find the necessary courage to continue writing. Persistance is key. Is that such, that we can give an article in only 1 news paper or magazine, or we can give that same article in many of the news papers? How can you give the same article to different publications? If your extraordinary luck is such that both the newspapers like the piece and decide to run it on the same day? Probably your career as a writer will see the last day. So once you submit a piece to a newspaper or magazine (I am not talking much about magazines since it needs a different style of writing) wait until you hear from them. Once you are sure that your article is rejected, then you approach other publications. The "regret" letter would be a good enough indication. If not, pl call them and find out. Re: [AI] important circulars
hello gautam sir, i am also one candidate of this running case. yes, it's true this educational department of gujarat ignored such totaly blind persons from this job, so really we need your valuable guidance for further process. it will really spraid light on path of so many persons. - Original Message - From: "gautam" To: Sent: Thursday, June 24, 2010 4:58 PM Subject: Re: [AI] important circulars Dear Amitji, Efforts of you and your friends are admirable. As Mr. Prateek Agarwal has offered, you can search and download the required circulars and government orders from his website. Lists of identified jobs of government of India in group A, B, C & D are also available on the site of ministry of social justice and empowerment, government of India. Here, this is more important to know whether the job of language teacher is identified for the blind or not in your state. Actually we at Karnataka also facing the similar problem. Job of any type of school teacher accept the music teacher has not been identified for the blind by the Karnataka government. Even in 2007, when the 1000 of vacancies were advertised for the post of primary school teacher a PIL was filed in Karnataka High Court for recruitment of blind as a primary school teacher as per their reservation quota. And court gave the favourable judgment directing the state government for recruitment of the V.H. persons for the job of primary school teacher as per their reservation quota. But the state government move to the supreme court to stay the judgment and since than the matter is pending in the supreme court neither the stay has been granted nor the afforstated judgment is being implemented. NFB, Karnataka also filed a fresh PIL petition in 2009 while again 4900 vacancies of primary school teachers were advertised and blind persons were bared to apply for these jobs. In its interim order of 29th October 2009 against the said PIL the high court directed the state government to keep at least 49 posts vacant until the final disposal of these petition and accept the applications of qualifying blind persons for the same. Since then the matter is standing in the high court for the next hearing. You would be aware of recent interim order of Mumbai High Court in which the honourable high court has expressed its displeasure on the attitude of the Maharastra Government on the matter of identification of jobs and its time bound review. It may also be helpful in your case as a reference. I am forwarding a copy of this interim order at your personnel mail I.D. We have also filed a new PIL in the matter of appropriate identification of jobs and review of the existing lists, the first hearing of which expected to be scheduled with in two, three days time. I would inform you of the outcome of the same after the hearing. Best of luck for the desired success. With regards, Gautam Prakash Agarwal President, NFB, Karnataka. -Original Message- From: accessindia-boun...@accessindia.org.in [mailto:accessindia-boun...@accessindia.org.in] On Behalf Of amit patel Sent: 23 June 2010 21:20 To: accessindia Cc: vib-india Subject: [AI] important circulars Dear friends, I am writing this mail on behalf of my visually impaired friend kaushik. Gujarat government has decided to recruit 1 language teachers in middle school to teach standard 6 to 8. It means there is around 270 sits reserve for the blind. Now the problem is government is denying recruiting 100 percent blind people for the same post. Their argivement is that a totally blind person can not work on black board. How ever we have tried our best to convince them, but they are not ready to change there mind. Though we have approached high court, and the matter is in progress. So we need necessary circulars such as: list of identified jobs by central government, circular for employment and other important documents as soon as possible. And your valuable advice will really help us. So please reply as soon as possible. And pardon my poor English. Thanks in advance. Use the plastic scale to block the page. Since it is possible to keep it on a straight line and move down steadily, I feel it should bee a good idea. Another and the most common thing is to use the cardboard frames available with some of the organisations that allows you to keep the frame on an A4 size paper and write inside the frame. Since the line numbers from 1 to say about 10 is being marked on the side of the frame, identifying the line is easier.
