Re: [AI] Be careful! POS machines found stealing credit, debit card details

@Gufran, yes you are right, this is a service given by Fortum Drive
and Charge. One prepaid card is provided by PinePerks for spending
online murchants and offline stores. This is wonderful card as you can
use it after loading from any credit or debit card. By this way you
remain risk free and can get as maximum cashback as your credit card
or debit card gives you. For instance, HDFC millenia debit card gives
you 2.5% real cashback and SBI cashback credit card provides 5% real
money, same can be availed if using this prepaid card after loading
this card. However this card doesn't work for loading money to any
wallet such as paytm, amazon or paulpay etc.

My dad is a frequent buyer from Apollo pharmacy in our area and always uses
cash. I don't see logic in any retailer sticking to POS only for
transaction in India. Makes me smell some intention of fraud from the
person.

purchase few emergency medicin. I was not able to make online payment due to
some technical glitch so I decided to make payment using POS. Next day I found

If you think that it's a fraudulent transaction you may lodge complaint to
your bank along with gd copy if the transaction is below rs 5 and if
this transaction consists of more than 5 then you should lodge and FIR
after following this procedure you may visit your bank branch or talk to
the customer service department to lose your complaint.
You may be asked to comply a standard operates of operating procedure form
if your bank account is in SBI following after lodging this complaint
please note once you lodge the complaint your debit card or credit card
might be blocked until the investigation is complete and it will be a
miracle if you could get your money 99% people do not receive their money
which has been unauthorised transaction which has been debited
unauthorizedly. Please ignore if you observed typographical errors as I am
dictating my phone and it seems that there are so many spelling mistakes or

Those transactions is matching with the same transaction which you have
paid for buying medicine if yes then this is not a fraud transition this
might be possible that those transaction was declined due to some technical
error then you should report to your bank and larger complaint for
unsuccessful transaction. Generally fraud star do not think whether you are
disable person or a Saturday person the simply take out every penny from
your account every post transaction may be completed after using ATM pin
please recall how many time you have entered your ATM pin to that pause
device or does that transaction was a contact list transaction then you
might be able to conclude whether this transaction is a fraud transaction
or unsuccessful transaction

when you tell that the machine was not accessible, the person who helped
you at the time of transaction might be malevolent.

2023-04-29 Thread Minar Singh
Hi Gufran,

I'm rewriting the entire history that took place on 24th and 25th April.
I purchase medicine online from Tata 1 MG using UPI payment option.
But I was not able to make the payment using UPI due to some technical
glitch. I was getting payment declined error so I had approached the
nearest Apollo pharmacy. I bought the needed medicine and was ready to
make payment via cash. but He told me that He accepts payment through
POS machine. I was not willing to make payment using POS because POS
machines do not come with accessibility features enabled. I had
requested him to share online link for making payment. Apollo pharmacy
replied that 'We accept payment through POS only. I was left with no
option. I had observed that on 25th April that is almost after 24
hours there were 2 suspicious transactions happened. The transaction
history showes that those transactions were carried out by Apollo
Pharmacy using POS machine.

That is why I never prefer swiping my card at the time of delivery.I trust online payment through my mobile only. However request you to please share your incident in details so that other members may also aware about these types of frauds. Generally fraudsters carry multiple swipe machines with them, when they ask to swipe the card, first they will tell you that the transaction declined or “machine main kuchh problem hai dusre machine se try karlijie.” From there the trap gets started. Regards gufran Sent from Mail for Windows From: Mohib Anwar RafaySent: 30 April 2023 10:14 AMTo: accessindia@accessindia.org.inSubject: Re: [AI] Be careful! However onecan not do the transaction using the just card information as itfurther require an OTP unless the transaction is of internationalspent category. One has to be vigilant enough to keep himself aware ofsuch type of frauds. I have almost 15 credit cards and over 10 debitcards, luckily i never faced such type of concern as i always keepinternational transactions disabled and also i keep wifi paymentdisabled on my cards unless required. Its always advised the card holder not to share an OTP to anyoneincluding bank officials, if you suspect any of such activities, immideatly flag the issue to the issuer bank to avoid any financialloss. Re: [AI] Be careful! POS machines found stealing credit, debit card details

2023-04-29 Thread Minar Singh
Hi Mohib,

The transaction history was showing that Apollo pharmacy had used POS
machine. I never share OTP or any bank A/C detail with anyone. I have
installed tru caller app in my mobile which can block unknown calls
and all international calls if setting is enabled. I do not have any
social media app installed in that mobile. Mobile number is not known
to anyone.

Re: [AI] Be careful! POS machines found stealing credit, debit card details

2023-04-29 Thread Mohib Anwar Rafay
Yeah, it happens specially when if machine is able to copy the card
details, or someone manually record the card information. However one
can not do the transaction using the just card information as it
further require an OTP unless the transaction is of international
spent category. One has to be vigilant enough to keep himself aware of
such type of frauds. I have almost 15 credit cards and over 10 debit
cards, luckily i never faced such type of concern as i always keep
international transactions disabled and also i keep wifi payment
disabled on my cards unless required.
Its always advised the card holder not to share an OTP to anyone
including bank officials, if you suspect any of such activities,
immideatly flag the issue to the issuer bank to avoid any financial
loss. Moreover, if possible have an RFID blocker wallet if you are
traveling alot.

2023-04-29 Thread Minar Singh
Hi,

I'm sharing my latest experience that i had with Apollo Pharmacy. I
had gone to purchase few emergency medicin. I was not able to make
online payment due to some technical glitch so I decided to make
payment using POS. Next day I found that there were suspicious
transactions happened. Though not huge amount was stollen but

Re: [AI] Be careful, Totally disappointed of shopping through online retailer

2015-03-23 Thread Mohib Anwar Rafay
The seller is SMARTFONE. You need to be more careful while shopping
through this seller.
I agree to Austin regarding to go through WS retail only, but the
problem is that only 10% products are available through this seller,
they have contracted with innumerable fraudelant seller out there in
the market.
By the way the topic seems relating to using technology and
accessibility to the market virtually. If you go to the market in the
visinity, you need to take someone along with you to check the
veracity and the authanticity of the product, because its the matter
of the buyer to be aware. In this discussion we are talking about
marketing online indipendently and available consumer safeguards. I
hope it is with in allowable jurisdiction of the mailing list, however
moderator is the best judge.
Thank you.

deal with accessibility? blindness? Please do stop this. If anyone has
any problem on this issue there are other lists where you can discuss this.

Failed to go market and purchase always due to several possible reason.

Every side having a negative aspect but with this online concept we are
more open to buy product

I am not supporting flipkart but I do feel flikpkart is one of most
reliable vender nowadays ..for example snap deal offer Rs 200-300 less
price than any other e retailer

Before buy always read carefully refund procedure first as of Flipkart
offered picked up & refund policy with out any Q as every product sell
by
any vender under insurance as far I know ...but few Cos won't picked up
in
case of product delivered faulty ..

Finally what's if vender refuse to pay or refund ...as per Consumer
Forum
/Act ...if vender registered office exist in city where product
delivered
only such cases can be accepted in district Forum /Cell but here most
of
based on Mumbai or somewhere else in such cases National Consumer Cell
only
option

Mostly vender don't want to lose their market normally 3Rd party
courier
/Seller are responsible hwver FK having own logistic .

So rest upon your choice to buy online product or not however it was my
personal experience towards Snap deal who bound to refund balance after
intervention of National C.C approx 40 Days later

Re: [AI] Be careful, Totally disappointed of shopping through online retailer

2015-03-22 Thread Mohib Anwar Rafay
I have checked it carefully. Even one of my friends who is quite
tech-savvy has looked at it, and it not working at all. There is
nothing technical about it, when you put in the plug of the speaker in
electric board, and press its power button, it should be power on and
its LED should show the indication. But it not working at all, no
light, no sound, its completely dead.
I have created a refund request. They will be refunding me.

I have initiated the refund for my money. They have registered my
request and they are processing it. Flipkart is ok, but the main
problem is the different sellers who are delivering product in bad
conditions.

even in cash on delivery, the opening of the package is allowed only
after the delivery boy receives the cash. moreover if the product is
damaged, you can't return the same to the delivery boy. you have to
follow the same procedure you did in this cash.
in cod option, the refund is allowed in chaque or they will credit the
flipcart wallet if you request. else cheque is only allowed.

Hey all, today fornoon I got the replacement of the woofer. But adding
to my agony this woofer is also not working at all.
This time the product looks physically fit with original packing, but
the main unit of the woofer is not being power on, as it is responding
to the electricity connection. When I am plugging the woofer into wall
socket, there is no response. I have checked it in presence of of one
of my sighted friends.
Now ultimately I will have to return the product, so my advice to all
of you is please be more careful while booking electronic itoms from
online stores.

also check the replacement clause, for eg. 30 days replacement warranty,
before you order a product.

Even I didn't have such disappointing experience earlier, though in
one or two products of my earlier orders were not up to the mark. Such
as the cap of the perfume bottle was broaken, but it didn't have any
impact over the utility of the product. But this time I am totally
disappointed.
Yeah, I agree that its fault of the seller, but at least flipkart must
monitor the genuineness of the product being packed by the sellor,
otherwise a seller may pack any garbage in a nice packing!
In the case in hand, if you see the box of the speaker, anyone can
tell at first look that it is 2 - 3 year old.
But how a seller can pack an itom that is physically damaged? and this
is not the result of mishandeling the package by the delivering team,
because the remote control of the speaker was totally broaken while
small sub speakers were alright!
I rely on WS retail on flipkart, but the problem is that most of the
itoms are not available with this retailer. But anyways I have learned
by this experience that only Cash on delivery is the safest option to
purchase such itoms where chances of damaged products are there.
The best thing in purchasing an itom online is that you get complete
describtion of the product even if you can not see the product
physically. and the most important part of buying is the reviews of
the products.

Hey friends, before two days I placed an order for Intex it 2600 home
audio speaker on flipkart.com. I received the product today. But let
me tell you its not 100% safe to purchase itoms from these online
retaillers. The packaging was looking good from outside, but when I
openned the carton, inside box of the woofer speaker was totally
crumpled, and the speaker was looking second hand itom. The story
doesn't end here, when I see the speaker inside, to my utter shock and
surprise, the front panel of the woofer was totally detached from its
main body, the remote was completely broaken, and the inside
thurmacole was looking quite old and crunched. I was totally duped! I
registered this complaint to flipkart team, luckily they have arranged
for replacement of the product, I will be receiving replaced product
by tomorrow. But this incident is discorraging me to purchase such
itoms from online store, as you never know what garbage they will be
sending to you. Though it can be replaced, but you will be humiliated
by the seller. Completely disappointed of the flipkart service.
So be careful next time when u are going to order such heavy duty
products from online retailer.

Clipboard Hack Problem - Shocking news about CTRL+C

Ctrl+C may be the most important work we do everyday. But it's not a very safe
thing to do. Read on to know why. What happens when you press Ctrl+C while you
are online. We do copy various data by Ctrl + C for pasting elsewhere. This
copied data is stored in clipboard and is accessible from the net by a
combination of Javascripts and ASP. This is called clipboard hack problem.

Just try this:
1. Copy any text by Ctrl + C
2. Click the Link: http://www.sourcecodesworld.com/special/clipboard.asp
3. You will see the text you copied was accessed by this web page.

Surprised! Do not keep sensitive data (like passwords, credit card numbers,
PIN etc.) in the clipboard while surfing the web. It is extremely easy to
extract the text stored in the clipboard to steal your sensitive information.
Forward this information to as many friends as you can, to save them from
online frauds!

It is true, text you last copied for pasting (copy & paste) can be stolen when
you visit web sites using a combination of JavaScript and ASP (or PHP, or CGI)
to write your possible sensitive data to a database on another server.

How Clipboard Hack is done?

The Clipboard hack is done by the following Source Code:

var content = clipboardData.getData("Text");
alert(content);

Solution:
How to safeguard yourself from Clipboard Hack Problem?

To avoid clipboard hack problem, do the following:
1. Go to Internet Options->Security.
2. Press Custom level.
3. In the security settings, select disable under Allow paste operations via
script.

2008-03-26 Thread V. Balakrishnan
Dear Anshul Kapoor,

If your unable to access the clip board, you can use the following method.
to blank out material in the clip board, you can go to note pad, or word
pad or MS word and type xxx and then highlight it and copy it to the
clip board. This will replace the original text on the clip board with xxx.

Be careful while copying data

Hi,

Here is some useful information for all.

Ctrl+C may be the most important work we do everyday. But it's not a very
safe thing to do. Read on to know why. What happens when you press Ctrl+C
while you are Online... We do copy various data by Ctrl + C for pasting
elsewhere.

This copied data is stored in clipboard and is accessible from the net by a
combination of java-scripts and ASP.

Just try this:
1) Copy any text by Ctrl + C
2) Click the Link:
http://www.sourcecodesworld.com/special/clipboard.asp
3) You will see the text you copied was accessed by this web page.

Do not keep sensitive data (like passwords, credit card numbers, PIN etc.) in
the clipboard while surfing the web. It is extremely easy to extract the text
stored in the clipboard to steal your sensitive information. Forward this
information to as many friends as you can, to save them from online frauds !

while shopping on a creditcard, our card can be misused very easily. for
instance, whenever the shopkeeper takes our card for putting it to the
machine, he/she can note down all the vital information and we can do
nothing for it. therefore, daily check your account online.

Re: [AI] Be Careful while Internet

2007-01-08 Thread Vetrivel Murugan, Adhimoolam
This is a very serious issue. Online credit card transactions with
Master/visa/American express cards do not certainly require your pin and
your description clearly shows that either you have been taken to the
fishing website or perhaps the original site itself is engaged in identity
theft. First, check with your bank whether your credit card is ensured
against the identity theft and actually most of them are in the context of
US and perhaps Indian users can further throw light on this. Second, As soon
as you are asked for your pin, please check to see whether you are on the
original window or a new browser window has opened without your knowledge.
You can do so by pressing Ault+tab. Third, Immediately copy the website
address by pressing Ault+D and then pressing control+C. Paste it in a
secured document for the future reference. Fourth, If you are doing online
banking regularly, then visit your bank account site without wasting any
moment and see whether there has been any transactions within the last few
minutes or so. Last but not the least, Most of the banks with credit card
facility should have twenty four hours customer service and contact the
number immediately. Mostly your credit card itself will have the number. If
your credit card info has already been sacrificed, then you should call your
bank and block further transactions at the earliest. Also request for a new
card and most of the banks are suppose to provide you this service free of
cost. This is certainly a painful process, but better to go through this
rather than becoming bankrupt.

Vetri.

Re: [AI] Be Careful while Internet

2007-01-08 Thread Subramani L
I think this is phishing. You may have a hacker registering web address
in the name of an organisation -railways in this case- and make the
customer believe that it is the genuine website. He would ask the
details of your bank a/c and pin no.

This is identity theft and we need to be guarded against it. Semantec
says the best way to avoid is to check if information not usually found
in the original website are there in the bogus website.

Another way is to compare the lay out of the original website with the
duplicate one and one thing to be remembered is that the original
website of a prestigious organisation will not have gross errors in
spelling words and so, you can easily identify the bogus one.

Re: [AI] Be Careful while Internet

2007-01-08 Thread Srinivasu Chakravarthula
Hi, Thanks for this info. In such circumstances, it would be even great to
take a screen shot and bring to the notice of Railways or concerned vendor
where you are doing online shopping.

Also friends, those of you do online transactions would better to take up
Internet Beyond the Basics course from Hadley which deals with different
cyber crimes and internet security.

Regards,
Srinivasu

WORST VIRUS EVER --- CNN ANNOUNCED

A new virus has just been discovered that has been
classified by Microsoft
as the most destructive ever. This virus was
discovered yesterday afternoon
by McAfee . This virus simply destroys Sector Zero
from the hard disk, where
vital information for its functioning are stored.
This virus acts in the following manner:
It sends itself automatically to all contacts on your
list with the title:
"A Card for You".

As soon as the supposed virtual card is opened the
computer freezes so
that the user has to reboot. When the ctrl+alt+ del
keys or the reset button
are pressed, the virus destroys Sector Zero, thus
permanently destroying the
hard disk. Yesterday in just a few hours this virus
caused panic in New York
, according to news broadcast by CNN.

This alert was received by an employee of Microsoft
itself.
So don't open any mails with subject: "A Virtual Card
for You." As soon as
you get the mail, delete it !! Even if you know the
sender !!!

Please pass this mail to all of your friends.

Forward this to everyone in your address book. I'm
sure most people, like
myself, would rather receive this notice 25 times than
not at All

I don't know if you are aware of the guidelines of AccessIndia list. We
are only to discuss any technology or accessibility issues or any other
issues related to blindness. Please do not forward this kind of
information.

Also, there have been reports already that this information is wrong.

Thanks,

A few weeks ago, in a movie theatre, a person felt
something poking from her seat. Whe n she got up
to see what it was, she found a needle sticking out
of the seat with a note attached saying "You have
just been infected by HIV". The Disease Control
Center (in Paris ) reports many similar events in many
other cities recently. All tested needles were HI V Positive.
The Center also reports that needles have been found
in cash dispensers at public banking machines. We ask
everyone to use extreme caution when faced with this
kind of situation. All public chairs/seats should be inspected
with vigilance and caution before use. A careful visual
inspection should be enough. In addition, they ask that
each of you pass this message along to all members of
your family and your friends of the potential danger.
Recently, one doctor has narrated a somewhat similar
instance that hppened to one of his patients at the Priya Cinema
in Delhi. A young girl, engaged and about to be married
in a couple of months, was pricked while the movie
was going on. The tag with the needle had the message
"Welcome to the World of HIV family". Though the doctors
told her family that it takes about 6 months before the virus
grows strong enough to start damaging the system
and a healthy victim could survive about 5-6 years,
the girl died in 4 months, perhaps more because of the
"Shock thought". We all have to be careful at public places,
