[yocto] [Yocto 9.0.2 over Overo/Beagleboard] screen utility not working as expected
Hi, I am using Yocto dylan 9.0.2 code to generate Ubuntu kernel and images for Gumstix Overo/Beagleboard. Everything is working fine except the utility screen that I am using to ssh to board, running an application and logout. This is what it is used for, but unfortunately it is not working that way. The application also exits once I logout from the board/terminate the ssh session. I have tried different arguments of screen, but no use. Is anybody aware of similar issue with screen utility with any kernel version. I read on some forums and Yocto help pages about 2 versions of SSH: Dropbear and OpenSSH. The Dropbear version seem to have this issue, but not sure. I tried compiling OpenSSH from source and including that in the filesystem on my Overo board, but the issue remains. Any suggestion or information regarding this issue would be very helpful. Thanks in advance. Please share your views on what may be the issue in this case. Well the obvious error in this MIB is in the TRAP-TYPE definition: EventMonitorTrap TRAP-TYPE ENTERPRISE EMC CLARiiON Advanced Storage Solutions VARIABLES { .} DESCRIPTION ::= 2 The ENTERPRISES clause is meant to contain the object identifier (name or numeric OID) of the defining enterprise. It's not an arbitrary string. See RFC1215, section 2.2.1 for a typical example. That's almost certainly the cause of the crash. There are some other errors as well (OBJECT-TYPE should probably be imported from RFC1212 rather than 1155, TRAP-TYPE is not imported at all, and the EventMonitorTrap name is invalid - it needs to start with a lower-case letter) but I doubt those are likely to cause any real problems. It'll be the bogus enterprise value that's hitting you - try replacing it with 'clariion' and see if that works any better. Re: SNMPv3 support in SNMP trap daemon software
Hi Dave, Actually, if I am using the same handle everytime, then while calling connect, fd_set contains the same ID for 4 sessions and count=4 (e.g. for 4 sessions). And the result is that: snmp_read doesn't return (till we receive 4 packets in this example) to call connect again. I am assuming that this is the root cause of problem that if I am sending SNMPv2 traps, the callback is called for the first time (because its session is 1st in the session list) and then no action for next 3 times. Then again, callback is called and no action for next 3 times and so on.. Please suggest. Re: SNMPv3 support in SNMP trap daemon software
Hi Dave, Thanks for your response so far. Actually, the final problem is in comparing the engine-id received in UDP packet with that in user database. If I send engine-id using command: snmptrap -e *0x0102030405* -v 3 -u administrator -a MD5 -A mypassword -l authNoPriv -d localhost 42 coldStart.0 This is stored in u_char * engine_id as engine_id[0] = 0x01 engine_id[1] = 0x02 engine_id[2] = 0x03 engine_id[3] = 0x04 engine_id[4] = 0x05 and the length is *5*. Whereas, the engine-id we store in user database is session.engineId = 0x0102030405 and length is 12. Please let me know where I am going wrong. I think some conversion is required. Hi Dave, I am glad to say that I have atleast some clue about the issue (this might help us to find root cause easily now). I am debugging my software using the net-snmp library code. I am able to find that there is a parse error in SNMPv3 trap i.e. function snmpv3_parse returns -43 as failure status. Can we find out the root cause now. Any help will be appreciated. Re: SNMPv3 support in SNMP trap daemon software
Hi, Yes I got it. From this error, I think I am not able to create the user properly. Is it true? If yes, please tell me some way to create an SNMPv3 user. Re: Traps/Informs
Hi Martin, Please use the following code after your mentioned part of code. You need to call snmp_sess_select_info, select and snmp_sess_read after snmp_sess_read() function. These functions help in reading the data from socket and call the callback function. Also, there is no issue in using localhost in snmptrap/snmpinform commands. if (transport = netsnmp_tdomain_transport(port, 1, udp)) { ss = snmp_sess_add(session, transport, NULL, NULL); } while (1) { numfds = 0; FD_ZERO(fdset); block = 1;/* note: will be set by snmp_sess_select_info */ tvp = timeout; if (block) timerclear(tvp); snmp_sess_select_info(ss,numfds, fdset, tvp, block); if (block == 1) { tvp = NULL; } count = select(numfds, fdset, 0, 0, tvp); if (count 0) { snmp_sess_read (ss,fdset); } else } /* End of while */ if (ss) { snmp_sess_close(ss); ss = NULL; } Thanks Gaurav Chaturvedi On Tue, Jul 20, 2010 at 10:13 PM, Martin Townsend martin.towns...@power-oasis.com wrote: Hi, I'm having problems processing traps in my management application, After looking through the snmptrapd code I've added calls to netsnmp_transport_open_server(app_name, udp:162); and then initialise a session with snmp_sess_init with the following initialisation session_p-peername = SNMP_DEFAULT_PEERNAME; /* Original code had NULL here */ session_p-version = SNMP_DEFAULT_VERSION; session_p-community_len = SNMP_DEFAULT_COMMUNITY_LEN; session_p-retries = SNMP_DEFAULT_RETRIES; session_p-timeout = SNMP_DEFAULT_TIMEOUT; session_p-callback = snmp_input; session_p-callback_magic = (void *) transport_trap_server_p; session_p-authenticator = NULL; session_p-isAuthoritative = SNMP_SESS_UNKNOWNAUTH; which sets up the callback snmp_input. then snmp_add to add the session to the opened transport server. In snmp_input I have a printf to make sure that the routine is getting called that will output the operation_id value. Is it ok to use snmpinform/trap with localhost and will the code above receive the trap PDU on localhost? [LIG] Intel Wi-Fi Provides 6 Mbps Over 100 km
MIT Technology Review describes a new Wi-Fi router from Intel capable of sending a Wi-Fi signal tens of miles with 6-Mbps performance. This is perfect for rural areas without Internet service, and for less developed countries interested in building out their Internet infrastructure but no means to lay expensive cable or fiber optics. The routers cost about $500 each, and you need two of them for a point-to-point connection. Quoting: Intel's RCP platform rewrites the communication rules of Wi-Fi radios. Galinvosky explains that the software creates specific time slots in which each of the two radios listens and talks, so there's no extra data being sent confirming transmissions. 'We're not taking up all the bandwidth waiting for acknowledgments,' he says. Since there is an inherent trade-off between the amount of available bandwidth and the distance that a signal can travel, the more bandwidth is available, the farther a signal can travel.
