[amsat-bb] LituanicaSAT-1 status update
Dear friends, FM transponder is OFF, it's mission is completed, thank you for all the good responses. Based on this there will be more projects in the future making benefit for HAM people of the World. Currently only telemetry packets are to transmit data every 15 seconds. On-board temperature is rising and the altitude is being lost quickly therefore some peculiarities due to changing thermal environment can occur. Would appreciate any of your reports tracking last orbits of LituanicaSAT-1. Thank you for all of your support! Vytenis B. ___ Sent via AMSAT-BB@amsat.org. Opinions expressed are those of the author. Lituanicasat-1 was not heard on the 1245utc pass over the SW United States. It was on for that pass yesterday and N5HYP was worked from DM43. Hi Ted, Add the following line to Doppler.SQF somewhere in the data section (use paste and copy): LO-78,435175.5,145950,FM,FM,NOR,0,0 I don't know whether the frequencies are exact. To check that (while the sat is in range) click the SatPC32 control V to V+, then open menu CAT and with the Downl. Corr. controls correct the downlink frequency and save the found value in Doppler.SQF. You may also add the following line to AmsatNames.SQF: 39569 98067EN LO-78 Then the program will display LITUANICASAT-1 as LO-78 if you use a Keps file that still uses LITUANICASAT-1 as satellite name, for example the Celestrak file cubesat.txt. Re: [amsat-bb] Lituanicasat-1 Working Well
You need to enter the up- and downlink frequencies and mode into the Doppler.SQF file, which you can edit by clicking the ? on the menu bar, and then Auxiliary Files. Note that the satellite name in the doppler file must exactly match the satellite name in the keps. You must also enter the subtone info into the SubTone.SQF file. Again, the satellite name must match. (You can just copy the data from the first entry for SO-50). 73, George, KA3HSW - Original Message - From: Ted k7trkra...@charter.net To: f...@papays.com; amsat-bb@amsat.org Sent: Saturday, July 05, 2014 3:28 PM Subject: Re: [amsat-bb] Lituanicasat-1 Working Well Question: In Satpc32, I have LO-78 showing as a selection but there are no frequencies showing in the CAT window. Dear radio amateurs, The LituanicaSAT-1 transponder is currently on and should remain so. General rule to find out if the transponder is working at the moment is following: if you can hear CW FM beacon on 437.275 MHz it means that transponder is off, if you cannot hear it - transponder is on. 73 de LY1LM Geriausi linkėjimai / Best Regards, Laurynas On Thu, Jun 5, 2014 at 10:53 PM, Laurynas Mačiulis aviator...@gmail.com wrote: Dear amateur radio operators, Apparently the satellite had not reset as was scheduled on June 5, 0100z and the transponder remained on for the rest of today. [amsat-bb] LituanicaSAT-1 FM Transponder Report 04-Jun-2014 UTC
Good evening, I was on two passes of LituanicaSAT-1 over North America this evening. Signals sounded good, though I noted that the uplink sensitivity makes it difficult to work with just five watts of power output to a handheld antenna, except at higher elevations. My signal was in and out except at the middle of both passes. I neglected to make fine tuning adjustments on the uplink for Doppler as I had on previous passes. That might have made a difference had I done that. On the first pass, around 0031 UTC, KC9ELU in Indiana was the only station heard and worked. On the second pass, around 0207 UTC, KC9ELU was worked again as was KB1PVH in Massachusetts. Also heard were W0DHB in Colorado and KK4VAU in Tennessee. 73, Paul Stoetzer, N8HM Washington, DC (FM18lv) ___ Sent via AMSAT-BB@amsat.org. Opinions expressed are those of the author. Re: [amsat-bb] LituanicaSAT-1 FM Transponder Report 04-Jun-2014 UTC
Hi Paul! I was on the pass that started out here at 0202 UTC, and worked W0DHB in Colorado followed by N5ZNL in Mississippi before the satellite went behind the mountains to the east of the Phoenix area. I was in my back yard, using an Icom IC-2820H at 15W into an Elk log periodic, using narrow FM on the uplink. I did not hear you or KK4VAU come on the transponder. This was a pass from the south to the east, with maximum elevation for my location (DM43bn) of 13 degrees. This satellite seems like a cross between SO-67 and what the ISS cross-band repeater was like, the few times it was in a V/U configuration instead of the more common U/V configuration. I had to wait for the repeater's squelch tail to drop before I could hear myself through the transponder, and - with the lower orbit - adjusting for Doppler is very important. Narrow FM is a must, and I was able to deal with the 5 kHz tuning steps on the IC-2820H when trying to talk through the transponder. I plan on trying the next pass, which should start around 0336-0337 UTC. This will come up from my west and wrap around to the north, going up to a maximum elevation of 29 degrees. Meanwhile, time to make a request (or make another request) of the ARRL to add this satellite to the LOTW system. 73! Re: [amsat-bb] LituanicaSAT-1 FM Transponder Report 04-Jun-2014 UTC
Hi again! I was on the last LituanicaSAT-1 pass starting around 0337 UTC. I heard three other stations during the pass - Nestor K6JTT in San Diego, Dave W0DHB in Colorado, and Glenn AA5PK in west Texas. We all worked each other. This was a higher pass for me here in DM43bn, with maximum elevation of 29 degrees. Late in this pass, I heard the CW ID and recorded voice. I will send a separate report to LY5H including MP3 files with the audio from both passes I worked tonight. I hope the FM transponder can be activated again, while the satellite is still in orbit. This was fun! 73! Re: [amsat-bb] LituanicaSAT-1 Transponder Off
CW Telemetry beacon, as decoded by FLDIGI here in CM98 on the 6/2 0600z pass. My rotor controller doesn't do flipped operation, so the 3rd frame got trashed by the rotor needing to swing around as the satellite passed through North. Some errors in the frames, but for the most part, during the frame itself, the signal was full quieting. It seemed like the very front of the frame (call sign?) was at a low power setting, then jumped up for the main part, and then at the end a few dits, seconds apart, at low power. This was my second attempt (first success) at copying the beacon. I was the only person on the 0855Z pass over North America. Maximum elevation was 70 degrees. The satellite still sounded good. I again noted that Narrow FM and making the fine adjustments for Doppler on the uplink worked better. Downlink signals were stronger than SO-50, likely due to the lower orbit. [amsat-bb] LituanicaSat-1
Worked K8YSE/7, AC0RA and CO6CBF on the recent LS-1 pass. Keps are off as Doppler was difficult to track and I copied the satellite to -3.5 degrees. Sounds good using NFM. [amsat-bb] LituanicaSAT-1
Dear OM's and YL's: Being of Lithuanian descent, I really want to be able to access LituanicaSAT-1. This afternoon, at about 21:50UTC, I tried listening for it, both on the transponder frequency, and on the CW beacon frequency, and heard nothing. I couldn't find any information online regarding whether it is even operational yet. Does anyone know? 73 de Bernie, KF0QS ___ Sent via AMSAT-BB@amsat.org. Opinions expressed are those of the author.
