composed by himesh reshammiya also...
london dreams was quite a big project...i wish a r rahman sir would've done

Re: [arr] Moser Baer to release Jodhaa akbar

2008-04-11 Thread Aditya Nataraja
Somehow buying a pirated DVD for any reason whatsoever does not sound good
to me. We should try to control our desire for some time to reward those who
are working hard to give us right quality. I hope you don't get me wrong
Vithur. I know you said you would *also *buy the original as a matter of
tribute - but then you should buy it only for yourself and your conscience.
Don't do these things for others. I am sure we can wait for some more time
for the BGMs. Let's support those who do 'authentic' work. And for any
reason whatsoever, we should keep away from the pirated versions.

Peace,
Adi.

Ab hogi har ghar mein Hrithik aur Ash ki dhoom!

Moser Baer is truly revolutionizing home video entertainment.
  It
would soon be launching the DVDs and VCDs of JODHAA AKBAR
  and flood the
stands with the original home video of the biggest
  money-spinner of 2008 so
far. While the film has already completed 50 days at the box
  office, the
home video of JODHAA AKBAR is bound to create a splash,
  courtesy the
throwaway prices at which MOSER BAER offers DVDs and VCDs of
  its films.

Traditionally, MOSER BAER prices its DVDs at less than Rs.
  50 even
for the latest releases. JAB WE MET, HALLA BOL, SHOWBIZ,
  SUPERSTAR and
STRANGERS are just a few examples to quote. Though except
  for JAB WE MET,
most of the remaining films under performed at the box
  office, they have
done quite well on their home video version.

Now with JODHAA AKBAR being a HIT at the box office and yet
  getting
a DVD release at an expectedly throwaway price, it is going
  to be quite some
'dhoom' for Hrithik and Ash fans!

2008-04-11 Thread Syed Adnan Zakir Ali

yeah... i saw the interview on 'DAWN NEWS' channel here in karachi...
Lataji looked very sad and discouraged about the present music scene in
india...she said that the present day composers are forgetting their roots...
at this moment, the host of the program asked her what about Mr. A R Rahman??
oh...i was just waiting for that moment...i knew that our boss's name was about
to come very soon..
IT DID!
Lataji replied, jee haan...lekin Rahman sahab bohot kum films karte
hain...magar un ka kaam bohot acha hota hai..
(yeah...but Rahman works in very few films...but whatever he does, is very
good)Lataji was talking in hindi throughout the interview...
the host of the show did a great job too...

Today there was an interview of LATA MANGESHKAR ( Which she gave to DON paper
of PAKISTHAN ) in EENADU telugu paper and she talked a lot about her
relationships with PAKISTHANI singers of those times and also today's INDIAN
MUSIC.She said TOdays' BOLLYWOOD music is nothing before the music of those
days.It offers nothing .Then she said ONLY AR RAHMAN IS THE SAVIOUR OF
INDIAN MUSIC THESE DAYS. HE IS EXCEPTIONAL. HE IS DOING MANY NEW THINGS WHICH R
REALLY GOOD. BUT HE IS DOING VERY FEW ALBUMS'.This remark of hers is indeed a
big praise for our LEGEND A R RAHMAN, because a singer who has sung thousands
of songs from past 5 decades feels A R RAHMAN is the only true music director
of this country now.HATTS of to LATAJI to say the FACT openly and HATTS of to
our RAHMAN sir for keeping that WINDERFUL WORK.

[arr] non native singers

2008-04-11 Thread chitra geetam
hi
experiments with non native singers is okay only to a
very small extent..one or two songs is fine..
i donno whay rahman is continuously using hindi
singers for tamilsongs, tamil singers for some other
language..
ex.. its very irritating to hear udit narayan singing
tamil or telugu.. whatever fresh or new his voice be,
its just not sitting well.. not just udit, there are
soo many north indian voices which dont suit tamil.

if freshness in the voice is the reason for their
usage, there are hundreds of tamil/telugu malayalam
singers who have fresh voices, express better and
pronounce the language better.. why dont rahman chose
some of those voice? why only those same north indian
voices udit, madhusri, shreya and some one else..

i always think he shud pick only tamils for tamil,
hindi people for hindi and telugu singers for telugu
songs..

see its not only rahman... other composers are using
non native singers even to the worst possible extent..
their extensive usage udit is anyway snatching aways
the freshness in arr songs..so what is the point in
rahman using them? back in 1994, it sounded okay..
but now, look at the south indian music, every album
contains only hindi singers.. its not helping rahman
to make his songs sound apart..

using outside singers for songs like sivaji-style is
okay bcos of its genre..also maryam teller for maiya
maiya fits well .. but its not helping the melody
based songs.

my only concern is to see rahman not getting
criticized for using non native singers who cd not
pronounce properly.. we can talk anything here,
between us.. but i dont want any outsider to say
anything about rahman.

may be he must start a new trend by using all native
singers only to elevate the lyrical meaning and
expression too..

in any case, i credit rahman for giving life for soo
many new singers..
thanks

Greetings
Chitra

Ab hogi har ghar mein Hrithik aur Ash ki dhoom!

Moser Baer is truly revolutionizing home video
   entertainment. It
would soon be launching the DVDs and VCDs of JODHAA AKBAR
   and flood the
stands with the original home video of the biggest
   money-spinner of 2008 so

2008-04-11 Thread !--Sri Balaji--!
Sorry murali. You are wrong. The right answer is July Madham Vandhal from the
moviePudhiya Mugam sung by S.P.B.

Pudhiya Mugam is the immediate second movie done by ARR after Roja. But when it
came to release some other movie got the second place.

[arr] Drummer Kumar Interview in Rahmania - PART I

2008-04-11 Thread Vithur
Rahmaniacs,

Drummer Kumar met ARR at the age of 10. They had formed a Band called
Aristocrat, and had played for ad Jingles like Wonder Balloon. At that time,
everyone was wonder struck that young lads at the age of 10 could form a
Band and play such good music. Even Kumar was very popular in TV. They also
used to play for their master Nithyanandam.

Q :- So How was the experience to form an orchestra at that young age and
play ?

Ans :- Rahmanji first started the show. First, we started playing in the
Museum. Myself and Mandolin U. Srinivas were playing in Museum , through the
influence of a school. Rahmanji was playing for Padma Seshadri schools at
that time. At that time, he met me and asked if we can do a show together. I
replied Sure, and we both joined together to form a Instrument Band called '
Aristocrat.

After doing Wonder Ballon ads, we started doing shows in Spic, Hotel Chola,
and also planning in some cities. I used to say that I would perform only if
someone gifted me chocolates etc. I had interest in all these ads, rather
than in studies.

My father was a Tablist. Tablist Prasad. I was impressed by him. The rhythms
started at an early age, and I used to practise for 6 to 7 hours, right from
the age of 10. As Rahmanji and myself shared the same interest, we used to
practise for so much time. I used to play solo. I also used to roll the
sticks, just out of interest. Billie Cowan is my inspiration, and would like
to play drums like him. He used to play like devil. I missed out of Roja, as
I was in Dubai for some time. Then after coming back, joined ARR for
Kadhalan, and for the song Urvasi.

Q :- Before Rahman, which directors , what languages ?

I started recording right from the age of 14, after leaving my tenth
standard. I play all insruments, Percussion instruments ; Japanese Insrument
called Taiko ( which was played for Azeeem O Shahenshah ) . I have played it
for more than 10 tracks. The basic instrument was Taiko, and there were a
lot of other instruments which was joined later.

I have done programming for Rahmanji also, before. for the song
Chandiranai Thotthadu Yaar ( Ratchagan) . The rhythm bit.

Once there was an insrument called Darbuka which was got by Rahmanji from
Dubai. he gave it to me and told me that it was for me . I saw it and
started playing it as everyone would. Then one day, he showed me a different
way of playing it, by turning it upside down. Then I understood that there
was so much of instrinsic techniques in the same. He gives the basic idea,
after which we can improvise. The sound is most important, and we always
take care of the part

Dandiya Aataamum Aada - Song from kaadhalr Dhinam - The whole group played.
I have also played in that song

I have missed many songs of ARR, for which I have felt bad. I used to forget
sleep while working with Rahman. Rahman will always make our minds freee,
and tell us to work with ease. He is very brilliant in that aspect. When he
sits in the mixer, its always different. No one can reproduce such sound, I
have seen this even in London. Its the special
interest that Rahmanji shows, that creates such a wonderful music.

Wow Timble Instrument - I got it from US. When I took it to Rahman, he made
a special use of it, and created a devil's effect to it, which no one can
even think of producing. It was used for Re- recording in his films.

( Next week, it shall be continued )

I would rather buy a pirated good quality dvd , rip the BGM than listen to

Its an insult to arr and his tracks if Moser Baer has gotten holds of the

Ab hogi har ghar mein Hrithik aur Ash ki dhoom!

Moser Baer is truly revolutionizing home video
entertainment. It
would soon be launching the DVDs and VCDs of JODHAA AKBAR
and flood the
stands with the original home video of the biggest
money-spinner of 2008 so
far. While the film has already completed 50 days at the
box
office, the
home video of JODHAA AKBAR is bound to create a splash,
courtesy the
throwaway prices at which MOSER BAER offers DVDs and VCDs
of
its films.

Traditionally, MOSER BAER prices its DVDs at less than Rs.
50 even
for the latest releases. JAB WE MET, HALLA BOL, SHOWBIZ,
SUPERSTAR and
STRANGERS are just a few examples to quote. Though except
for JAB WE MET,
most of the remaining films under performed at the box
office, they have
done quite well on their home video version.

Now with JODHAA AKBAR being a HIT at the box office and
yet
getting
a DVD release at an expectedly throwaway price, it is
going
to be quite some
'dhoom' for Hrithik and Ash fans!

Re: [arr] non native singers

2008-04-11 Thread Pradeepan R
I acknowledge your views.
but there are lots of ppl. who actually like someone like Udit singing tamil
songs.
you are right in the fact that the Novelty factor is long gone by now..
but I'm sure Rahman uses them for their singing skills more than anything
else.
I still wonder who else could have sung the high pitched male parts of
'Sahana' ..
Again, this is very subjective..
but my personal opinion is that - except Udit, rest of the non-Tamil singers
are doing a good job with pronounication.. same with non-hindi singers
singing Hindi songs.
eg. Chitra - Rang de Basanti.

   hi
experiments with non native singers is okay only to a
very small extent..one or two songs is fine..
i donno whay rahman is continuously using hindi
singers for tamilsongs, tamil singers for some other
 language..
ex.. its very irritating to hear udit narayan singing
tamil or telugu.. whatever fresh or new his voice be,
its just not sitting well.. not just udit, there are
soo many north indian voices which dont suit tamil.

if freshness in the voice is the reason for their
usage, there are hundreds of tamil/telugu malayalam
singers who have fresh voices, express better and
pronounce the language better.. why dont rahman chose
some of those voice? why only those same north indian
voices udit, madhusri, shreya and some one else..

i always think he shud pick only tamils for tamil,
hindi people for hindi and telugu singers for telugu
 songs..

see its not only rahman... other composers are using
non native singers even to the worst possible extent..
their extensive usage udit is anyway snatching aways
the freshness in arr songs..so what is the point in
rahman using them? back in 1994, it sounded okay..
but now, look at the south indian music, every album
contains only hindi singers.. its not helping rahman
to make his songs sound apart..

using outside singers for songs like sivaji-style is
okay bcos of its genre..also maryam teller for maiya
maiya fits well .. but its not helping the melody
 based songs.

my only concern is to see rahman not getting
criticized for using non native singers who cd not
pronounce properly.. we can talk anything here,
between us.. but i dont want any outsider to say
 anything about rahman.

may be he must start a new trend by using all native
singers only to elevate the lyrical meaning and
 expression too..

in any case, i credit rahman for giving life for soo
 many new singers..
 thanks
