Recording streaming audio (Re: [arr] Chiggy Wiggy Second Version (Without Kylie Minouge))

Hmm, my already known/ installed media capture/download tools didn't work, so I had to use this new one. You can try this free tool. http://www.applian.com/asktoolbar/ Applian's Ask and Record toolbar download and install it (File ATBSetup.exe 8.39 MB) It is supposed to install a toolbar in your ie and ff, though it added only in my ie but not in ff because ff was already running. Now, there would an Ask toolbar appearing in ie. First go to settings and set the directory/ folder where you want the recorded song to be saved or it will save it deep somewhere in window's confusing folder schema. I started ie, opened the above url given by Rivjot in ie, tick marked the song. clicked on play selected song, a new window opens showing the player, as I would do for normal streaming playing. Now, click on Record Audio from the from the Ask toolbar. A window will open showing waiting for audio and with a button Stop recording. Now, go to the player window in ie and click on play button, the song will start streaming and playing and the Ask toolbar will keep on recording it. Once the entire song plays and completes, the player will stop but the recorder will not know that the song is finished so it will continue waiting for more, so you have to click on ask window to stop recording. that's all. Now see the list of files that have got recorded. There seems to be a bug that it breaks the recorded mp3 into different files wherever there was some gap in streaming or for some reasons, so you might find 3 or 4 files having parts of that song. Though if you put them in sequence in your winamp or other player they would play the full song seamlessly in continuation, try this. Open the MS Dos command window, (Start - Run - cmd.exe (enter) Go to the folder where the file pieces are saved. (or from windows explorer, move the pieces from that folder to some convieniently accessible folder like c:\) The names of the file pieces will be something like Tue Sep 29 12;18;18 2009.mp3 Tue Sep 29 12;21;32 2009.mp3 Tue Sep 29 12;21;34 2009.mp3 just give the command copy tue*.mp3/b chiggy1.mp3/b that will combine the files (b for binary addition) and you will get a single file named chiggy1.mp3 having the entire song. -- The toolbar is supposed to download videos and even convert audio, video, pics to various formats. You can explore that further. This is just a tool and tip and trick. Take care of copyright and piracy issues. For this particular song, I don't thing they are likely to release its audio commercially, so I think you can take some freedom to use the recording non-commercially, for personal listening. Thanks. -- Rawat
Re: [arr] Blue the biggest let down by ARR
The moment I saw the title of your post, I was tempted to think...Oh Boy! Here's another one with full of unwanted criticisms on ARR! But you prove me wrong. Your article seem to have reflected many of our views as well. I did feel bad when there wasn't a track by ARR but like Chord said, Vijay was at his best in Fiqrana so there's no point of arguing on the question of What if ARR had done it? Needless to say, ARR would have done a great job in Fiqrana. But then, we would have missed on a talent like Vijay in the process. So I believe from now on those members who gets excited without hearing to the songs properly and letting it grow on them will think twice to be inconsiderate of our genius's work. The meaning of Thala is somewhat like Boss. Usually Politian and movie star are described such a way, for me the only thala is our genius himself. Vijay prakash undeniably has done a tremendous job in fiqrana, I agree on that chord. Coming back to the sound issue, I went to Singapore this week to get the audio CD of Blue as our usual Malaysian supplier failed to get the cds on time. I really got fed up with the quality of mp3,so just decided to drive down to get the cd. It was obviously better esp clarity wise but what I personally feel is that the audio company is compromising the quality of the songs by compressing it to fit in all the songs one disc or maybe its low quality disc. This is maybe due to ARR's extensive layering technique which may coz the files to be big, therefore CD distributor may not be able to justify it due to costing issues. Because when I compare it with ARR's international outputs such as Warriors and Slumdog the quality is perfecto, on the flipside it's only hindi cd we having this prob esp Blue now. So I believe something fishy is going on esp with T series coz Ada was released by Big music and the quality was good. --- In arrahmanfans@ yahoogroups. com, V S Rawat vsra...@... wrote: On 9/28/2009 7:52 PM India Time, _adamirshad@ ..._ wrote: It took me nearly two weeks to just get into the grove of Blue and now I have to listen two other masterpieces Couples Retreat and Passage. [arr] Why Chiggy Wiggy is not a hit ?? - Read on my opinion
Hi All, Everyone here, including me, had some great expectations from Kylie Rahman's collaboration and expected the song to be a hit. Though its unfair to expect a repeat of Chaiyya Chaiyya, which revived the career of Sukhvinder, still I expected something new I dared not to write any comment earlier, bcos I wanted ample time to get this song to grow on me, before I write anything... After all these days of listening , I have this opinion... just an opinion mind you... I think that the real culprit is Sonu Nigam !! His voice is so artificial and make-believe... yes I am using word artificial and make-believe... because listen to chiggy wiggy from 3:27 onwards you'll know what i mean... I found his voice more original in Satrangi re from 01:03 onwards... I strongly feel Daler Mehndi or Sukhvinder singh would have been a better choice.. maybe even KK... but not Sonu, his voice doesn't suit for this song !! The other reason is the rhythm (I dont know what they call it, beat, rhythm whatever) that Rahman has used, the one which has already been popular. Right from the beginning, whenever I listen to this song I feel like listening to Pritam's Zara Zara.. Chiggy Wiggy would have been a super-hit if it had been done before Zara Zara... Cos Zara Zara caught peoples imagination with the sensuous swaying of Katrina Kaif to the music of Pritam.. The next culprit is the sound quality, I think the recording engineer wanted the listener to hear all the sounds of the song at the same time... I feel that the sounds that were supposed to be in the background were brought forward along with all the percussions and the lead voices (This is the case with all the songs of Blue, H.Sridhar's loss is very evident here) .. it feels really horrible when listened on a high end sound system.. its even more horrible on small time audio systems, especially in office cabs !! Donno why, but after sonu's voice takes over the song, I couldnt help but wanted the song to end quickly !!! And when the song ends, it felt very peaceful, as if after the storm... I feel let down, when my colleagues at office talk abt chiggy wiggy and compare it with Zara Zara... I realised that everyone feels that chiggy wiggy is an extension of zara zara As for the sound quality of the songs in Blue... I have a high end audio system in my car, with blaupunkt woofer(its awesome !) pioneer 2 din head unit, blaupunkt 800 watt amplifier, jbl speakers... I expected the songs of blue to blow me over with the sound... but it was too jarry... Fanaa from Yuva is the benchmark that i use in my car.. the beats in Fanaa are simply superb and it puts the woofer to its ultimate test, literally... I play this song at volume level of 8 with A/c on (my system supports 30 i think). Believe me, U have to listen to Fanaa in my car and experience the quality !!! But with Blue I feel that the recording quality is so horrible that I cant play any song beyond the volume level of 3 !!! Blue Theme and Fiqraana are exceptional and have a awesome beat, but the Bass recording is too bad (I am a novice at the technical terms used in the music production, so pls excuse me) That's it for now.. will write more later bye !! Vinod

if so, then it is an utter wastage of our man's great efforts. They have even released the song commercially, showed it video, make it a part of their promotions so ARR can't even use this song in some other film. Re: [arr] Why Chiggy Wiggy is not a hit ?? - Read on my opinion
Well written, Vinod. All praises for your efforts. On the content of your review, I think Sonu might have got scared of the big budget and an international star so he might have decided to play it safe so that the burden of if the song flops doesn't come on his shoulder, so he didn't experiment, didn't stretch him limits, and gave a time tested often heard sound, as you said artificial and make-believe that became his undoing in this song. I think the overall predictable progression of the song itself is responsible for lackluster-ness of this song. So many songs like this have been heard across decades that this entire concept of a culture-clash culminating in local culture defeat the intruder, doesn't excite the imagination any more. The concept itself doesn't gel with anything that ARR is known for. He should not have got for a culture defeating another culture, but should have gone for it to culminate in a synergy of the two cultures. -- Rawat On 9/29/2009 12:49 PM India Time, _vinod sagar_ wrote: Everyone here, including me, had some great expectations from Kylie Rahman's collaboration and expected the song to be a hit. After all these days of listening , I have this opinion... just an opinion mind you... I think that the real culprit is Sonu Nigam !! But with Blue I feel that the recording quality is so horrible that I cant play any song beyond the volume level of 3 !!! True enough I am guilty with the title but on the other hand we got many members who only read the message when title is controversial, more like judging the book by its cover, Thats sad. --- In arrahmanfans@ yahoogroups. com, V S Rawat vsrawat@ wrote: On 9/28/2009 7:52 PM India Time, _adamirshad@ ..._ wrote: It took me nearly two weeks to just get into the grove of Blue and now I have to listen two other masterpieces Couples Retreat and Passage. [arr] Sharks from CR
I don't see people much talking about this track, but I think it's simply one of the most brilliant tracks in CR. Love the dramatic use of instruments in this track in fast motion amidst the raaga based vibrophone interludes followed by a very intense ending with ARR's high pitched, soaring voice and the high sustained strings..simply so haunting!
[arr] A.R. Rahman has finally said yes to another Bollywood project
A.R. Rahman has finally said yes to another Bollywood project, in spite of his various international projects. He will be scoring musichttp://entertainment.oneindia.in/bollywood/news/2009/akshay-john-action-290909.html#for Tony D’Souza’s next film. The *Blue *director is already going places. His maiden underwater thrillerhttp://entertainment.oneindia.in/bollywood/news/2009/akshay-john-action-290909.html#is yet to be out. But Tony has already convinced his producers Ashtavinayak to produce his next. It will star Akshay Kumar, but no Sanjay Dutthttp://entertainment.oneindia.in/bollywood/news/2009/akshay-john-action-290909.html#. Instead it will bring John Abrahamhttp://entertainment.oneindia.in/bollywood/news/2009/akshay-john-action-290909.html#into an action combination with Akshay. The two have so far only been seen in a comedy Priyadarshan’s *Garam Masalahttp://entertainment.oneindia.in/bollywood/news/2009/akshay-john-action-290909.html# * after which the senior actor was accused of tampering with John’s role. The charge was vehemently denied by both the actors. But the bitterness remained…until now. Says Tony, “Akshay was on board for the next project from the word go. After Blue I can’t dream of making a film without him. Blue couldn’t have been made without Akshay. As for John, it’s strange with his physique and body language he has never done a full-on action filmhttp://entertainment.oneindia.in/bollywood/news/2009/akshay-john-action-290909.html# .” Tony sees the twosome not in the comic mould but in the slick stunt space. The film to start early next year will have never-before action. “If I was a member of the audience I’d want to see the two together in the kind of stunts never seen before.” After going underwater in *Blue *we’d be seeing the director indulge in a lot of aerial stunts in his next. After all these days of listening , I have this opinion... just an opinion mind you... I think that the real culprit is Sonu Nigam !! His voice is so artificial and make-believe. .. yes I am using word artificial and make-believe. .. because listen to chiggy wiggy from 3:27 onwards you'll know what i mean... Re: [arr] Why Chiggy Wiggy is not a hit ?? - Read on my opinion
And does it really matters about an article written by any person who just wants to fill space in a daily and agree to the senses? That was quiet absurd when the writer in the daily claimed that Blue was a flop bcs of songs (or one song in particular) as if every movie was an instant hit or flop with its music. Had it been a case movies like Mann, Khamoshi should have been listed among all time hits. I personally felt a person who writes should do at least some amount of homework and analysis when he writes in media than just writing opinions and then generalizing it. And the one who doesn't is no less than an those ppl who preach evil and force ppl to believe in their views. Coming back to Chiggy Wiggy I personally never felt Kylie is one wonderful artist anytime and I never borrowed the hypes surrounded; To such an extent I never tried to hear any other songs from here other than the song nanana. what it matters to me was music that I can enjoy. So taking into account of ppl like me or to those who never knew who Kylie is music sales volume is unaffected. It only matters who is the Composer and AR name is an influence for sales. --- In arrahmanfans@yahoogroups.com, Gomzy gomtesh.upad...@... wrote: There is nothing wrong with the song. [arr] BLUE pen drive and MSD Cards
Hi, Read the below stuff in Mid Day. Not sure how many buyers are willing to shell out 525 bucks for the BLUE pen drive, but then the only positive aspect is it has 1 GB free space, the songs can be deleted and it comes with some more stuff. Indian market is relatively new for such stuff, but lets see how it picks up. Coming back to Chiggy Wiggy I personally never felt Kylie is one wonderful artist anytime I was worse off than you. I had never ever heard of Kylie before her getting roped in for Buloo. and I never borrowed the hypes surrounded; but I got curious about an international popular artist getting roped in first time for an Indian song, that too by my fav man. I was expectant and eager to hear it. So taking into account of ppl like me or to those who never knew who Kylie is music sales volume is unaffected. I differ. I think several people must have got curious about this song that cost multi-million bucks and they would have bought it. It only matters who is the Composer and AR name is an influence for sales. The song has harmed the reputation of ARR also, me think. It is less than mediocre by ARR's standards. It lacks creativity that was so visible in each of 800+ songs of ARR. If this is what our man is going to give after Oscars, and with an international popular, he was far better before Oscars and with Indian singers. If the movie flops at box office (I fear so) then ARR bashers are going to have a field day. I am sure RAVANA is going to be a never-before highest point in ARR's life that will leave everybody spellbound. -- Rawat

Hi, I would support the fact that H Sridhar's loss is evident here. What is more worrying is the fact and doubt whether this underquality recording will continue in the future albums. I would have loved to hear Bhoola Tujhe with singer's voice higher than the instruments. Thats just one example here. Yes, the lyrics sound a bit silly in Chiggy Wiggy, but on the whole, after a few hearings it grows on you. Yes, the Zara Zara factor will always haunt us but there is a better part in Chiggy Wiggy too..I expected a fast number from Kylie, honestly. But have still very high hopes from the movie, lets see how it goes. His voice is so artificial and make-believe. .. yes I am using word artificial and make-believe. .. because listen to chiggy wiggy from 3:27 onwards you'll know what i mean... [arr] CR Nana Excellent
I m just loving the songs Sajna, Kurukuru Kan especially Nana. I especially love Nana song because it shows the versatility of our boss. Who the hell can even think thats its composed by an Indian composer without knowing it ? Its so perfectly composed, sang, recorded, sound of the song etc. that even the local people of south africa will think thats its composed sang by their local composer singers. And its defenatly Blaaze singing some parts in the song without a second thought, no idea about the other singers. ARR Blaaze combination is always mindblowing. 'Nana' its so catchy, peppy, groovy etc. that it does not take a second listen to like it. Our boss has always been a huge fan of African kind of music African drums since the drums of 'Rukmani Rukmani' 2 'Nana' (complete song) n I always loved whenever he gives that kind of music. Long live A.R.Rahman may Allah subhana wa taala showers u n ur family with Salaamti, Rehmat n Barkat (Peace, Mercy Blessings) always. Aameen.

Re: [arr] All that Jazz - Vennila Vennila from Iruvar
Yea, i can say its an excellent song very well performed and most importantly well recorded. micro to macro dynamics are jaw dropping! sadly most of Rahmans fan do not listen to his albums in a good highend system and if they do they would know what i meant by good recording. sadly not all are that great. like Connections and some recent ones are so badly recorded that you just cannot play in a good system.there is too much overloading and the recording engineers are to be blamed. Rahman should follow what Cat Stevens do whenever he releases an album before the days of Yusof Islam. he listens to his work on his home highend audiophile system and boy of boy his albums are of refrence quality and listed in albums to die for. i have a collection of all Rahamans albums and quiet some are of great recording and WOHAE is used by audiophiles to test their systems . i really wish Rahman realises the importance of quality recordings(engineering) as much as the effort he puts in creating the music. all the best ariff --- On Thu, 9/24/09, manoj kumar rajmanoj_2...@yahoo.co.in wrote: From: manoj kumar rajmanoj_2...@yahoo.co.in Subject: [arr] All that Jazz - Vennila Vennila from Iruvar To: arrahmanfans@yahoogroups.com Date: Thursday, September 24, 2009, 8:13 PM I happened to read this blog post today through Digg http://www.musicque ncher.com/ blog/2009/ 09/25/all- that-jazz- vennila-vennila/ Yahoo! [arr] Couples Retreat track for OSCARS...
http://www.cinefundas.com/2009/09/25/couples-retreat-music-review I have a strong feeling that ARR will win oscar next year for his CR scores ... That sounds like an easy job, and it can be. When you have a great recording engineer doing the recording, and great artists and musicians around you creating great music a producer's job becomes very easy. But when you are on a budget with very limit studio time, a busy schedule, a singer that keeps messing up the vocal track because he/she is nervous, the drummer that can't get the groove right, a recording engineer who can't get the computer to record the next track your job as a producer becomes a lot more challenging. And this is what being a good producer is being about. At these moments a producer needs to be a problem solver and make decisions. Every producer does it differently, but the result is the same, a recorded and well produced song. To be able to make it work a producer may have to get involved with the technical stuff and help the recording engineer out. Or you may have to get the singer to make the vocal track work with the song by changing the lyrics, changing the melody or give some vocal pointers. It may also involve rewriting part of the music by changing chords, adding samples and sound effects and creating a complete new drum rhythm from scratch. And there are a lot of other situations where a good producer needs to take charge and show why he (or she) is the producer. Being a producer can involve Getting into the music (music theory) Getting into the songwriting process and learning about songwriting and sequencing Knowing some things about recording Being able to work with musicians and artist and get the best out of them Working with a recording engineer and other studio owners Using sound effects, samples and other techniques to make song sound different and unique Mixing and editing the song Mastering the song In today's music the producer is usually also a songwriter, a musician and recording engineer. This makes the job both easier and more difficult. source: http://www.musician snews.com/ 61/what_does_ a_music_producer _do.shtml Here's a good explanation as well: http://www.ehow. com/video_ 4951096_what- does-music- producer- do.html --- In arrahmanfans@ yahoogroups. com, Pradeepan R pradeepanisonline@ ... wrote: General Question: Who is a Music Producer ? [arr] Couples Retreat Soundtrack
Its been really long since i posted in this group due to my tight schedule, but today the moment i heard the soundtrack of COUPLES RETREAT i decided no matter how long it is going to take for me to go to bed i will come and share the experience in this group... I m just going to write the way i felt on hearing the soundtrack for the first time SAJNA ... no words... i could see OUR RAHMAN sir in the melody NANA I just have one question what is the capacity of Rahman sir's brain... as a musician i m little disappointed too... he is not letting off any style for others to touch... he is exploring every new possible way and becoming a master in that and gives a brilliant tune... and this one is a great track in the album Undress OH MY GAWD...!!! a brilliant blend of east and west... starting with ghatam and tampura and building brilliantly... SALVADORE TYPICAL RAHMANISH... i really love this track though i could feel traces of Jumbalakka in the begining... but still amazing guitars and this track is going to be a big new treat for western world KURU KURU: Indian language in Hollywood movie... and RAHMAN Sir's Voice... amazing new kind of melody to Indian audience and absolutely in west way... and reserving best to the last: ANIMAL SPIRIT *The Rahman* who inspired me to write music... who inspired me to play keyboard is here... right here... YEAH THIS is the track of album... amazing.. I saw 90s Rahman coming back... RAHMAN SIR HATS OFF TO YOU...!!! The rest of tracks are typical soundtracks which i am sure going to sound great with the movie... I wouldn't be surprised if RAHMAN sir becomes the first indian to win Academy awards continuously for 2 years... JAI HO Karthik Iyer

I find dat they do not have a media partner still big fm is der but am talkin abt a television partner..even Big Fm if am right has not started talkin abt the concert.. and most other partners do not even have a banner in their premises... Again the ticket centers do not have even a banner abt this concert.. I was expecting the city to be painted blue with the posters and banners of the concert but with just a little more than a week available the advertising is very less...and Rahman fever in chennai is yet to pick up.. we will need to do something.. So here is wat we as a group of fans(chennai) can do to create awareness... -Send out SMS to all our friends am sure most of them would not have heard abt this...tell them about the concert and give them a contact from were they can get their tickets.. -Send mails across office..one of my friend santosh will be designin a mailer which we can all use to send mails or if any1 else has one ready pls share it...until its ready lets just keep sending mails wit the details typed in. -Keep udatin your face book, orkut, twitter and other social networking sites with the details of the concert (excuse me for bringing in other sites but we need to work as fans) -When ever you meet a group of friends just talk abt the concert and ask them if we can go.. make dem plan for the concert then and there...and get a head count .. u can arrange for the tickets and give it to them... I just read thro the messages here and but this time i really felt the need to speak out.. i may be wrong...but am just puttin across wat i felt. If any1 has any more ideas for promotin the show. pls put it across..

agree - this is the first track that struck me as 'brilliant' when i heard it off the cr website (before the entire soundtrack website was released) ... it's arguably the best in the album! --- In arrahmanfans@yahoogroups.com, ichord purev...@... wrote: I don't see people much talking about this track, but I think it's simply one of the most brilliant tracks in CR. --- In arrahmanfans@yahoogroups.com, V S Rawat vsrawat@ wrote: On 9/28/2009 7:52 PM India Time, _adamirs...@_ wrote: It took me nearly two weeks to just get into the grove of Blue and now I have to listen two other masterpieces Couples Retreat and Passage. [arr] Re: Chennai concert concerns..
Dear Jeevinth I share your concern. In Pune concert, the situation was no different, there were hardly any posters / banners / Radio spots till the last week of the show, the situation changed only in the last week. I also don't remember seeing any AD on Television for the Pune JaiHo concert or the 20 / 30 second clip which the event management company had shown us in the press-conference. If this event is handled by the SAME company who has contract to do the ARR shows, then relax ... they know what they are doing. During Pune concert too we had raised similar concern with these organizers and they were confident that they will sell-out all the tickets on the name of our guruji, and it happened ! I guess, Pune was so starved of such concerts and had not SEEN ARR at all ever, so they were going to crowd the venue anyway, and they did ! But then, Chennai city is expert in hosting ARR concerts.
