Hi Bill,

In ITSM 6.3, there is no concept of Multitenancy. So, we can see all the tickets.
But In ITSM 7, there is feature called Multitenancy. That restrict to open another group ticket.

you can set multitenancy to single tenancy, but for that you have to have consult your Appl. Administrator.

Hope this helps...

My bad .

A business man got on an elevator in a building.
When he entered the elevator, there was a blonde already inside and she
greeted him by saying, "T-G-I-F" (letters only).

He smiled at her and replied, "S-H-I-T" (letters only)."

She looked at him, puzzled, and said, "T-G-I-F" again.

He acknowledged her remark again by answering, "S-H-I-T."

The blond was trying to be friendly, so she smiled her biggest smile and
said as sweetly as possibly "T-G-I-F" another time.

The man smiled back to her and once again replied with a quizzical
expression, "S-H-I-T."

The blond finally decided to explain things, and this time she said,
"T-G-I-F, Thank Goodness It's Friday, get it?"

The man answered, "Sorry, Honey, It's Thursday."

Hello everyone,

In the Incident Management Console for ITSM 7.0, is there a way to view
every group's open tickets in the Manager Console view? Currently it looks
like you can only view tickets for groups you are a member of using options
under Select My Groups or All My Groups.

In the Management Console for ITSM 6.3 you can select "All Open Requests"
and "Any" which allows you to see every group's open tickets. Any ideas?

Thank you in advance.

ran that down and the contents of the field match the contents of the field
that the search menu is pulling from. Nothing seems out of place.

Not that this would make a difference, but what I'm doing is creating a
Copy Dataset job in the CMDB Reconciliation manager. The error message
appears when the Save button is pressed. The field that the error message
is complaining about (there's actually two of them) is the Source Dataset
and the Destination Dataset. Again, I'm not sure that this is relevant, but
it might be.

Since we have mutiple servers and this operation works on the other
servers, I exported and then imported the form that ITSM uses to create the
Copy Dataset job. This didn't help.

I imagine that I could safely remove the $MENU$ field constraint as a
workaround, but now I worried that something may be wrong with the server.

Has anyone ever seen this kind of behavior? Thanks in advance for the help.

I am not sure exactly what is happening, but we once had a situation

2008-05-09 Thread Gayford, Matthew C.
Happy Friday List,

I've set up some custom workflow to push values from a staging form to
the HPD:IncidentInterface_Create form to generate an incident. Once the
incident gets created, I'd like the staging form to get the incident
number that was generated. Is there an easy way to do this, perhaps with
the instance id?

Thanks,

Matt

I've run into this before with search menus and $MENU$. I just always
write filters to check the value against the underlying table instead of
relying on $MENU$.

Subject: (Pattern - $MENU$) Problem

I'm saving a record in a form but I get this error message: ARERR [306]
Value does not fall within the limits specified for the field :
(Pattern
- $MENU$) : 301107120

That field id represents a character field with a search menu attached.
I
ran that down and the contents of the field match the contents of the
field that the search menu is pulling from. Nothing seems out of place.

Not that this would make a difference, but what I'm doing is creating a
Copy Dataset job in the CMDB Reconciliation manager. The error message
appears when the Save button is pressed. The field that the error
message
is complaining about (there's actually two of them) is the Source
Dataset
and the Destination Dataset. Again, I'm not sure that this is relevant,
but it might be.

Since we have mutiple servers and this operation works on the other
servers, I exported and then imported the form that ITSM uses to create
the Copy Dataset job. This didn't help.

I imagine that I could safely remove the $MENU$ field constraint as a
workaround, but now I worried that something may be wrong with the
server.

Has anyone ever seen this kind of behavior? Thanks in advance for the
help.

Question: ITSM 7 - Group

2008-05-09 Thread T. Dee
I have created my own Form and created a group in "Group". I gave the
Group a name and a unique ID as well as making it "Change".

However, when I go into the admin form and select the field I want to
set the permissions on the group is not showing up in the list of
groups.

What am I missing?

Thanks!

Just a guess: could the error be actually reporting on a problem with a
related (i.e. downstream) form, like a join or something? What do your SQL
logs say?

Re: Next ID Blocks in Server Groups

2008-05-09 Thread Rick Cook
Thanks, Mark. The count is set per server, then there's a check box on each
form to enable it to use that server number.

We'll have to evaluate whether having Entry IDs/Create Dates out of sync is
worth the performance increase. I suspect that it will be, but we may still
have to check our apps and users to ensure no one gets hosed in the
trade-off.

Re: Next ID Blocks in Server Groups

2008-05-09 Thread Walters, Mark
When this setting is enabled the server will increment the nextid count in the
arschema table for the form by the configured number. Once the server has
allocated all the ids the next block is fetched. If the server is terminated
for any reason, intentionally or otherwise, any unused ids will be discarded
and there will be a gap in the request id sequence in the form. If you're
using a server group and each server is using the feature there is increased
potential for these gaps to occur. Each server is independant in the use of
this feature - you could have servers using different values for the nextid
block or a mix of servers with the setting enabled and disabled. The next id
count can also be set per form if I recall correctly (don't have the docs
handy).

The occurrence of gaps in the request id sequence has always been a possibility
- consider the case of a heavily used form with mutliple users running submits.
If the workflow that creates a new record has conditions that may cause the
submit to be cancelled the transaction would be backed out and, if subsequent
submits had already started, this would result in a gap.

SAD NEWS...

Please join me in remembering a great icon of the entertainment community. The
Pillsbury Doughboy died yesterday of a yeast infection and trauma complications
from repeated pokes in the belly. He was 71..

Doughboy was buried in a lightly greased coffin. Dozens of celebrities turned
out to pay their respects, including Mrs. Butterworth, Hungry Jack,
theCalifornia Raisins, Betty Crocker, the Hostess Twinkies, and Captain Crunch.
The grave site was piled high with flours.

Aunt Jemima delivered the eulogy and lovingly described Doughboy as a man who
never knew how much he was kneaded. Doughboy rose quickly in show business, but
his later life was filled with turnovers. He was not considered a very smart
cookie, wasting much of his dough on half-baked schemes. Despite being a little
flaky at times he still was a crusty old man and was considered a positive roll
model for millions.

Doughboy is survived by his wife Play Dough, two children, John Dough and Jane
Dough, plus they had one in the oven. He is also survived by his elderly
father, Pop Tart.

The funeral was held at 3:50 for about 20 minutes.

If this made you smile for even a brief second, please rise to the occasion and
take time to pass it on and share that smile with someone else who may be
having a crumby day and kneads it.

Regards...Gidd

Manager Console View ITSM 7

2008-05-09 Thread William Chen
Hello everyone,

In the Incident Management Console for ITSM 7.0, is there a way to view
every group's open tickets in the Manager Console view? Currently it looks
like you can only view tickets for groups you are a member of using options
under Select My Groups or All My Groups.

In the Management Console for ITSM 6.3 you can select "All Open Requests"
and "Any" which allows you to see every group's open tickets. Any ideas?

Thank you in advance.

Regards,

Bill

Re: Failed to process request error when viewing crystal reports via midtier (using BO XI R3)

2008-05-09 Thread tina flores
I have chosen to use MySQL 5 as the default DB during the BO XI R3
installation. When I go checked my Services (Start > Administrative Tools >
Services), I see that the BOE120MySQL is Started.

However, I don't see the BOE120MySQL service when I logged in to the MySQL
Administrator, I see the following dialog box: "Could not find settings:
Either the server service or the configuration file could not be found.
Startup variables and service section are therefore disabled." When I go to
the Service Control panel (of the MySQL Admin tool, the service status is
disabled (all grayed out). And on the right corner of the screen, it says in
bold red text: "this section is only available when connected to the
localhost." But when I checked my Schema tables, I have boe120 and
boe120_audit and I am able to connect to the CMS without any errors.

My question is, do I need to reconfigure MySQL db? If so, how do I go about
this?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Next ID Blocks in Server Groups

2008-05-09 Thread Joe D'Souza
What I do not like so much about setting these next block id's is that the
sort order of the create date is often not in sync with the sort order of
the Request ID's. But then again I guess if I really want that benefit of
performance I have to live with that..

Might be a good idea to come to think of it to use it at the time of DSL
import (during the install of ITSM apps) and then remove it after that is
done..

As I recall, B needs read/write file access to C to create the .rpt
file, and may need the inverse of that to write it back to the mid-tier
server which will present it. I found it difficult enough to do (and it
opens up some security settings on both servers) that it was easier to
put a mid-tier on the BOXI server for the sole purpose of presenting the
reports.

We have secured several servers and the connections are not
working. I need to verify how connectivity works on the web. As far as
I can tell the documentation does not cover this.

We are using Mid-tier 7.1 patch 001 on it's own Solaris server.
We are using AR Server 7.1 patch 001 on it's own server. We are using
IM 7.03, SLM 7.1, and CMDB 2.1. We have a separate remote BO XI server
with the AR Web Report Viewer (7.1 patch 001 windows) installed (but no
mid-tier).

Assume the following:

Client Browser is "A".

Mid-tier is "B"

BOXI Server is "C"

AR Server is "D".

Does "A" ever directly connect to "C"? Or does it go indirectly
to "A > B > C > B > A"?

Re: ASP.Net code (Web page accessing ITSM 7 Incidents)

2008-05-09 Thread Chris Woyton
Kevin,

In essence, what you'd do by using the .NET libraries for ARS as opposed to
direct access to the DB via ODBC/DAO/ADO/EIEIO is leveraging the ARS User
authentication as well as any permissions, workflow, business rules, etc. that
are in the AR application. Consequently, this is the superior way to go as you
don't need to, as my esteemed colleague Matt said, "reinvent the wheel".

Besides, you don't really want to build a security model in ASP.NET, do you? ;)

You might try copying the code from the ASP.NET examples into a new project is
MSVWD and see if it will work in that fashion.

My second, and probably more pertinent question is this: why not use the
Mid-Tier and the Requester Console? It provides exactly what you're asking for
and then some. Not to mention, it's a whole lot easier to maintain (and lord
knows, if I can code a solution I will because I'm weird like that so I don't
ask this question lightly).

  ** Hi Matt,

I already have this file, the sample in the arsys_aspnet does not
convert properly into MS Visual Web Developer 2008 Express Edition, it will not
load.

Plus, I still lost at how the connections are made where -

1. Login Page (Check your Remedy LoginID and password from CTM:People
form)
2. Based upon your Remedy LoginID show you only your Incidents you have
open etc

Thanks,

Kevin P.

**
Kevin,

Go to http://developer.bmc.com and search for “AR System .NET and COM
API 7.1”. That will allow you to use the Remedy API for the functions you need
(no reason to reinvent the wheel!).

Good luck,

Matt Reinfeldt

**

  Hello everyone and happy Friday!

I am extremely new to asp.net coding, couple of days to be exact.
Here is what I have done so far -
  1. Downloaded and installed MS Visual Web Developer 2008 Express
Edition.
  2. Created a SQL DataSource connection to my SQL 2005 ARSystem
database
  3. I am able to pull all data (Incidents that are currently in -
Views, HPD_Help_Desk form)

Ok here is where I need some help -

What I would like to do

  1. Login Page (Check your Remedy LoginID and password from
CTM:People form)
  2. Based upon your Remedy LoginID show you only your Incidents
you have open etc.
  3. Update your Incidents if needed.

I've seen this done before, so I know it's possible.
I searched the ARSList, ASP.Net, BMC Developer Community and MSDN
to no avail on some sample code
I hope someone is willing to share some asp.net code, or where I
can find some sample code.

  Current system -
  AR Server 7.1 patch 002
Service Desk (Incident & Problem Patch 7)
  Mid-Tier
  SQL 2005

If there is any other information required please let me know.

Thanks and have a great weekend.

David,
You are easily one of the most knowledgeable responders on this list, but I
have to say that this simply is not true.

If you remove a trim field, table field, control (button), page or page
holder from its only view, it will be deleted. However, if you remove a data
holding field from the view, such as a display only character field, it will
not be deleted, although it will lose all of its display information.

Hi Drew

If you remove a field from its only view the field will be deleted when you
save the form (unless it is an attachment field - go figure !!). So if you
pull one of these fields that are not in any view into the only view, you
cannot then remove it from the view again easily.

If you really need to remove it from the view (and this is how those fields
got in that strange position in the first place), create a temporary view
and move the field into this new view and remove from your proper view.
Update the form. Then delete the temporary view and save. You end up with
the field still existing, but not in any view.

This is some strangeness. In the course of normal ITSM system development,
somethings not working. An AL log says that the AL that a button runs is
failing the qual. The field in the qual is hidden, so I'm going to unhide
it and then run the workflow again.

So, in the Admin tool...the field isn't there so I go to Form...Current
View...Fields In View. The field is in the list of fields not in view so I
move it over. When I'm done with the testing, I want to move that field
back over to the Fields Not In View column.

No problem...except that there is a problem. A message pops up telling me
that I'm about to remove a field from its only view. If there's only one
view, then how could the field not be in it to begin with? Is this because
AST:Asset Management Console is a Display-Only form?

Yes, you need to upgrade the CI Viewer (and the CI Viewer ONLY) to patch
4 or above. Download the latest CMDB patch, within the patch is the CI
Viewer install.

I get it when I try to run the CI Viewer from the CMDB Console, Browse

not and the CI Viewer works as advertised. I get a feeling it's a

Unix install of the CMDB the installer knows to install the CI Viewer on a

Kevin,
Since your AR System is on a Unix server and your web server is a
Windows server and the CI Viewer gets installed on the Web Server, there
has to be a separate install. (Unless I am just totally delusional,
which wouldn't be the first time). If you still have the patch download

2008-05-09 Thread Begosh, Kevin
Yeah that's what I thought. When I was going through this issue with
BMC they said that there is a defect with AR Encryption and CI
Relationship Viewer that is does not appear to be "Playing" well
together. I have a defect # SW00295117 opened for it. I can reply back
to this once I get a resolution if anything would like it?

It appears that I am delusional as far as the upgrade to CMDB 2.1. This
from the html help files:

The CI Relationship Viewer component, which previously had to be
installed separately, is now installed along with BMC Atrium CMDB.

Sorry Kevin to have wasted to your time. If this is correct, and I can't
think of any reason that it's not, then your CI Viewer was upgraded
along with the CMDB.

Yes, you need to upgrade the CI Viewer (and the CI Viewer ONLY) to patch

What about changing the server name in the DSO Mapping? This way wou
will get a "Server in Mapping does not match server requested" error and

Subject: Temporarily disable DSO?

All,

Is there a way to temporarily disable a DSO mapping, such that any
transactions on the "from" server will go into the Pending Distributions
queue and reliably flush out when DSO is again enabled?
I want to disable outbound traffic in one direction (i.e. one mapping),
but not another (i.e. another mapping to a different "to"
server). Disabling the distributed mappings causes the transactions to
simply fail, with no queueing (I know the workaround for that is to
simply export those entries where Modified Date >= the time I disabled
DSO). I also want to avoid stopping and restarting the Remedy service.

I have tried adding a line "Disable-Client-Operation: 5" to the ar.cfg
file and then running "arsignal -c". Actually this does work, but not
in reverse - I can't seem to undo it. If I comment out the line (or
delete it) and run "arsignal -c" again, DSO is not enabled (but no
errors). (I also tried this using driver.exe and running the "sig"
command, no luck, but no errors either.) A drawback to this method - if
it worked as expected - is that it disables the entire DSO, I really
just want to stop one mapping but not another. Re-starting the Remedy
service did not clear up the queue (and again, restarting is something I
want to avoid, anyway.).

It occurred to me to try commenting-out the "DSO-Target-Connection:"
lines in ar.cfg but, as mentioned, I'm having trouble using "arsignal"
to undo the changes.

Details (both "to" and "from" servers):
ARS 6.3, p22
Help Desk 6 (with a lot of home-grown objects) MS-SQL 2005
(9.00.3042.00) Windows Server 2k3 R2

Re: Temporarily disable DSO?

2008-05-09 Thread Hall Chad - chahal
If you want to stop all transactions to a particular target server then
do something that will cause a recoverable error in DSO. A connection
error usually has that effect. It will keep retrying the transaction
until it reaches the limit defined by the mapping (which is probably
infinite).

The tricky part is causing the connection error without impacting other
servers and without a restart of AR Server. Ideally you could edit the
hosts file to redirect the name of the target server to the IP address
of a server that doesn't have AR Server running. However, in my old 6.3
patch 20 environment DSO appeared to cache the IP address when AR Server
started, which meant changes to my hosts file were not honored by DSO
until I restarted AR Server. I think I even tried killing the
serverds.exe process in hopes that armonitor would restart it and use
the new IP address, but that didn't work either. Perhaps you can find
another way to reroute traffic though. DNS changes would work but that
would obviously affect other systems referencing the target server.

You might be able to use 'route' from the command line to modify your
source server's network routing table. I know we've had that done before
as a safeguard on our test server to prevent it from sending test DSO
transactions to a production server, but I don't know if it takes effect
immediately or not.

Re: Temporarily disable DSO?

2008-05-09 Thread Robert Molenda
So if I understand it you have Server A,B,C

Server A does DSO to Server B and C

You want to disable Form-1 (which does the DSO to B,C Servers) for only
server C but leave server B operational?

Logically you would have 2 filters to trigger the DSO operation, one for B
and one for C (or one filter which does two DSO operations)...

No-Can-Do, other than to disable the filter which queues the DSO
transaction. Then you will have to re-queue all transactions to the
particular server.

There are some other options, but that would leave the Distributed Pending
entry there with status of 'Retry' which slows down the DSO Server.

Kevin,

Have you tried to download the Windows patch and extract the ci viewer
install from it (The Unix patch may not have the Windows ci viewer
install)?

Kevin,
Since your AR System is on a Unix server and your web server is a
Windows server and the CI Viewer gets installed on the Web Server, there
has to be a separate install. (Unless I am just totally delusional,
which wouldn't be the first time). If you still have the patch download
for the CMDB, check the patch to see if you have a CI Viewer installer.

Mid-tier/BOXI Connectivity question

2008-05-09 Thread William Rentfrow
We have secured several servers and the connections are not working. I
need to verify how connectivity works on the web. As far as I can tell
the documentation does not cover this.

We are using Mid-tier 7.1 patch 001 on it's own Solaris server. We are
using AR Server 7.1 patch 001 on it's own server. We are using IM 7.03,
SLM 7.1, and CMDB 2.1. We have a separate remote BO XI server with the
AR Web Report Viewer (7.1 patch 001 windows) installed (but no
mid-tier).

Assume the following:

Client Browser is "A".

Mid-tier is "B"

BOXI Server is "C"

AR Server is "D".

Does "A" ever directly connect to "C"? Or does it go indirectly to "A >
B > C > B > A"?

George Bush goes to a South American conference for a few days. While
down there, an aide comes to him and whispers into his ear, " Sir, it
is my unpleasant duty to inform you that last night, 3 Brazilian
troops were killed in Iraq."

The color visibly drained from the President's face, and burying his
head in his hands, he repeatedly sobbed "Oh no, oh no, oh no."
Finally Bush looked at the aide and asked, "Exactly how many is a
Brazillion?"

A little boy goes to his dad and asks, "What is politics?"

Dad says, "Well son, let me try to explain it this way: I'm the
breadwinner of the family, so let's call me capitalism. Your Mom,
she's the administrator of the money, so we'll call her the
Government. We're here to take care of your needs, so we'll call you
the people. The nanny, we'll consider her the Working Class. And your
baby brother, we'll call him the Future. Now, think about that and see
if that makes sense,"

So the little boy goes off to bed thinking about what dad had said.
Later that night, he hears his baby brother crying, so he gets up to
check on him. He finds that the baby has severely soiled his diaper.
So the little boy goes to his parents' room and finds his mother sound
asleep. Not wanting to wake her, he goes to the nanny's room. Finding
the door locked, he peeks in the keyhole and sees his father in bed
with the nanny. He gives up and goes back to bed. The next morning,
the little boy says to his father, "Dad, I think I Understand the
concept of politics now." The father says, "Good son, tell me in your
own words what you think politics is all about." The little boy
replies, "Well, while Capitalism is screwing the Working Class, the
Government is sound asleep, the People are being ignored and the
Future is in deep $h!t."

SAD NEWS...

Please join me in remembering a great icon of the entertainment community.
The Pillsbury Doughboy died yesterday of a yeast infection and trauma
complications from repeated pokes in the belly. He was 71..

Doughboy was buried in a lightly greased coffin. Dozens of celebrities
turned out to pay their respects, including Mrs. Butterworth, Hungry Jack,
theCalifornia Raisins, Betty Crocker, the Hostess Twinkies, and Captain
Crunch. The grave site was piled high with flours.

Aunt Jemima delivered the eulogy and lovingly described Doughboy as a man
who never knew how much he was kneaded. Doughboy rose quickly in show
business, but his later life was filled with turnovers. He was not
considered a very smart cookie, wasting much of his dough on half-baked
schemes. Despite being a little flaky at times he still was a crusty old man
and was considered a positive roll model for millions.

Doughboy is survived by his wife Play Dough, two children, John Dough and
Jane Dough, plus they had one in the oven. He is also survived by his
elderly father, Pop Tart.

The funeral was held at 3:50 for about 20 minutes.

If this made you smile for even a brief second, please rise to the occasion
and take time to pass it on and share that smile with someone else who may
be having a crumby day and kneads it.

Temporarily disable DSO?

2008-05-09 Thread Joe Castleman
All,

Is there a way to temporarily disable a DSO mapping, such that any
transactions on the "from" server will go into the Pending
Distributions queue and reliably flush out when DSO is again enabled?
I want to disable outbound traffic in one direction (i.e. one
mapping), but not another (i.e. another mapping to a different "to"
server). Disabling the distributed mappings causes the transactions
to simply fail, with no queueing (I know the workaround for that is to
simply export those entries where Modified Date >= the time I disabled
DSO). I also want to avoid stopping and restarting the Remedy
service.

I have tried adding a line "Disable-Client-Operation: 5" to the ar.cfg
file and then running "arsignal -c". Actually this does work, but not
in reverse - I can't seem to undo it. If I comment out the line (or
delete it) and run "arsignal -c" again, DSO is not enabled (but no
errors). (I also tried this using driver.exe and running the "sig"
command, no luck, but no errors either.) A drawback to this method -
if it worked as expected - is that it disables the entire DSO, I
really just want to stop one mapping but not another. Re-starting the
Remedy service did not clear up the queue (and again, restarting is
something I want to avoid, anyway.).

It occurred to me to try commenting-out the "DSO-Target-Connection:"
lines in ar.cfg but, as mentioned, I'm having trouble using "arsignal"
to undo the changes.

Details (both "to" and "from" servers):
ARS 6.3, p22
Help Desk 6 (with a lot of home-grown objects)
MS-SQL 2005 (9.00.3042.00)
Windows Server 2k3 R2

Thanks in advance,

Joe Castleman

Re: ZTmpSchema1 strangeness

I agree with Scott - on both counts. It used to be the case, but a few
versions ago all of a sudden it wasn't, which was a surprise to me, too,
when someone finally showed me. If you look at almost any ITSM 7 form,
there is only one view, and a great many fields are not included on it.

Re: ASP.Net code (Web page accessing ITSM 7 Incidents)

2008-05-09 Thread Matt Ferrigno
Kevin,

I agree with Matt. Download the the .net framework from the BMC develoer
site. I'm not sure if you're using vb.net or c#, but here's an example of
authenticating a user with asp.net in vb.net. You'll need to reference the
BMC.ARSystem namespace. Just follwo the direction for seting up the remedy
.net api and that should get you started.

ARServer.Login(Me.txtServerName.Text, Me.txtUserName.Text,
Me.txtPassword.Text, "")
Dim isAdmin, isSubAdmin, isCustomize As Boolean
ARServer.VerifyUser(isAdmin, isSubAdmin, isCustomize)

Hope this helps

Update your Incidents if needed.I've seen this done before, so I know it's possible.I searched the ARSList, ASP.Net, BMC Developer Community and MSDN to no avail on some sample codeI hope someone is willing to share some asp.net

Kevin,
I was at a client site that ran into the same problem and the upgrading the
CI Viewer fixed it for them. I would give that a shot if I were you. You can
always back out of it. You only have to upgrade the viewer, nothing else.

I am getting the same error message you are getting and we are on the

Yes, you need to upgrade the CI Viewer (and the CI Viewer ONLY) to patch 4
or above. Download the latest CMDB patch, within the patch is the CI Viewer

Re: Floating License alert

2008-05-09 Thread Shellman, David
Actually with server stats enabled, you can add workflow to send email when the
number of floating licenses reaches a certain value or greater.

We have the form set to create a record at 10 minute intervals. If the
floating license count is greater than 5 less than our floating licenses, I get
an email. At 2 less I get paged.

2008-05-09 Thread Louis Cobuccio
Hi Roger,

Thank you and all for the emails. Sorry I haven't replied sooner, we
are in the middle of audit season :-(

Anyway, here is my Run if statement: ( 'Actual Start Date' != $NULL$ )
AND  ( 'z1D_Activity Type*' != "Closure Information" ) AND (
'z1D_Summary' =  $NULL$ ).  My If Action is simple, Message w/Type of
Error, Please enter "Closure Information" into the Work Info section of
the change ticket in order to "Complete" the ticket.

I've set the Execution order to 0.

It looks like the action works, but it is rather shaky. The Error
Message pops up as needed but the status still shows Completed and you
have to refresh the screen in order for it to go back to Implementation
in Progress. Also it still populates the Actual Start and End dates.

Thank you,
Lou

Good Afternoon List,

I've been asked to make a "Work Info" entry required when a Change
Ticket has
been moved to a status of Completed. I thought it might be easiest to
make the z1D_Summary required on the Dialog View - Close view. But it
seem
that the Field Change Function doesn't allow for making a field
required,
just visable and font changes seem to be the only changes allowed.

I also tried creating a simple error message active link but it is
firing
after all the "Completed" workflow function fires. The error messages
comes up but ticket shows Completed even though no entry was made.

Any thoughts would be great.

We run AR applications and System v 7.0.01 patch 006, all on Windows
2003
Servers and MS SQL 2005.

Thank you

Re: ZTmpSchema1 strangeness

2008-05-09 Thread Scott Parrish
David,
You are easily one of the most knowledgeable responders on this list, but I
have to say that this simply is not true.

Re: How to print dialogue window?

2008-05-09 Thread Ron Gehring
Gary,

Since you are using a view field and setting it with HTML data, instead of
putting the java command in an active link, try putting it in the HTML at
the top of the report: Print this
page

This should put an HTML link on the report and allow it to print from any
client.

 javascript:window.print()

So try an Active Link that does a command of that.

Hi,lann,

Are you sure you selected attachment field in "selected"
list of fields because no attachments or page fields present

in this list though these fields are present on the form?

   Hope this helps...

   Hi,Gary,

Hope character field may satisfy your need.
The default upper size limit of data contained in a character field
   is different for each of

   the following databases:

For Sybase/MSSQL and Informix databases, 2 GB
   For DB2, 10 MB
   For Oracle®, 4 GB

Use the ar.conf or ar.cfg files to configure a different upper
   limit for Oracle and SQL

Server databases using the Db-Max-Text-Size configuration option.
   For more information about

the AR System configuration files, see the Configuring AR System guide.

To search a diary field when using Oracle, you must configure
   ar.conf or ar.cfg to allow

searching on clob data types. For more information, see the
   Configuring guide.

   Hope this helps

**
Although I haven't actually seen a function to do this in MS-SQL, there
is a thread in the ARSList archives from September 2006 under the
subject heading "Date Field/PHP conversion" (author: Bob Palma) that
shows how to convert diary fields in PHP:

 # $worklog is set to value of diary field from the DB
 $array_of_diary_entries = explode('', $worklog);
 foreach ($array_of_diary_entries as $i) {
$array_of_entry_parts = explode('', $i);
 $date = date('m/j/y g:i:s a', $array_of_entry_parts[0]);
 if ($array_of_entry_parts[1] != "") {
   print "Date -- $date \n";
   print "User -- {$array_of_entry_parts[1]}
\n";
   print "Diary Entry -- {$array_of_entry_parts[2]}
\n";
  }
  }

This is basically splitting the individual elements of the diary field
(i.e., timestamps, user names, text) into an array, using the special
control characters ('' is char 03, '' is char 04), then it is
converting the epoch integer value into a readable date and printing the
result.

I'm guessing the approach would be similar in MS-SQL.

**
There are actually two special control characters that are used
to store diary field entries in the database. Unicode value 0003 is the
"END OF TEXT" control character and is used to separate individual
entries in a diary field. Unicode value 0004 is the "END OF
TRANSMISSION" control character and is used to separate the date/time
(stored in epoch time as an integer) from the user name, and the user
name from the actual text (see
http://unicode.org/Public/UNIDATA/NamesList.txt). The entries are
stored as:

TIMESTAMP<0004>USER<0004>TEXT<0003>

So, it should be possible to split the diary field on these
characters, then use another function to convert the epoch integer into
a readable date/time value.

HTH,

Thomas

I apologize in advance for not having all the details, but we
did this
at a company I used to work for. What you want to do is look
through
the Work Log field and find a special character that occurs
somewhere
around the date field. I wish I could remember what it was,
because I
think it was something different than a carriage return.
Anyway, we
found that special character and were able to split up the date,
the
username, and the text of the Work Log. I wish I had kept that
information, but it's been years since I had to do it. I think
this was
on version 5 of ARS.

Hi everyone,

This issue is specifically for the Diary fields. When diary
fields
are displayed in MS SQL Server reports, is there a way that we
can
identify the date/time from the rest of the data and format it
as Date/
Time format?

Re: ARERR 9907

2008-05-09 Thread Walters, Mark
Which version of ARS are you using? As far as I can see this error # is
new to 7.1 and is defined as;

AR_ERROR_ILLEGAL_CMD_LINE_PARAM 9907

You can see it using arreload for example;

C:\apps\ar\server\71>arreload.exe -s
Illegal command line parameter (ARERR 9907)
   -s

Hey y'all :)

Has anyone encountered a 9907 error before or have any information on
the
nature of this error? It occurs during startup and seems to be DB
related,
but that's as far as I've been able to go with it. I've been unable to
find
*any* documentation on this particular error as of yet and before going
to
BMC Support I thought perhaps the collective wisdom of the list could
lend
some insight.

Thanks in advance!
