Re: Job: Kforce / Permanent / McLean - VA / Remedy Developer - Will Relocate

2008-05-22 Thread srinivas madhurakavi
Josh,

There seem to be an important piece of information missing in your post
below as far as all potenital H1-B candidates who would like to apply for
this job.

 For All qualified H1-B Candidates

Freddie Mac has a policy of accepting H1-B candidates where in they will
consider applicants who are currently on H1-B and require H-1B sponsorship
(as there would be a possible change in employer), but only if the applicant
has at least three years of H status remaining out of the original six years
of permissible H status. In order to be considered for permanent residence
sponsorship, the individual must be employed with the company for 12 months
and meet or exceed annual performance objectives established by their
management team. This is a minimum requirement for sponsorship. The decision
whether to sponsor an individual for nonimmigrant or immigrant status rests
exclusively with Freddie Mac.

Hope this additional information helps.

Hello Victor;

I don't know that this is what you're looking for, but I run a series of sql
queries in a single escalation to populate a 'current state' kinda form--I'm
using one query per field; might not be the most effective way in the world,
but it works.

This has MS SQL date conversions in--oracle is different and a bit more cryptic
(IMO--I've got those around somewhere if you need 'em):

Here's a Set Fields example that works just fine:

Read Value for Field From: SQL
SQL Command:
SELECT COUNT(1) FROM Your_Form_Name WHERE (Create_Date >= DATEDIFF(s,
'19700101', DATEADD(mm,-30,getdate( AND (rb_TicketType = 5)

If No Requests Match: Set fields to NULL
If Multiple Records Match: Use first matching

Fields:
  Name: cntTiks
  Value: $1$

...there's no reason in the world that you couldn't make a set fields with an
sql statement like:

SELECT thing1, thing2, thing3, ... ,thingN FROM Your_Form WHERE Field_name =
'char_value' OR Field_Name2 > 84600

(or whatever--could do joins and unions against multiple forms if necessary)

..and then the Names/values in the 'Fields' section of the set fields is like:

Name: Field1 Value: $1$
Name: Field2 Value: $2$
Name: Field3 Value: $3$
  :
  :
Name: FieldN Value: $N$

When you're choosing a value for the field, the drop-down list will give you an
option to choose a value x from the 'SQL Result Column,' where x is a number
between 1 and N (the number of fields you're pulling in your select statement).

Erm. For whatever it's worth.

Any idea how this could be done?

the Trick with the Compound index is the fact that you must use the values
correctly.

Re: Oracle Index Performance

2008-05-22 Thread patrick zandi
How about an extra field instead.
Why not just add a Search "value". When the form is saved, (filter) and it
meets the below Qual, Unset the field or set field to the value S1 or even
use Selection Field Like I have.

What I did was put in a Selection field
Search O Type 1 O Type 2 O Type 3 O Type 4
Each selection field is on when it meets the qual for the query.
(in this case they need to different)
The when you do a query it is based on the = and not the !=

-- Hope I am making sense.. It just depends on how many you need..
Maybe a Character field with 2 values - Your own Index so to speak.
Then you have 99 choices - which means no need for an index.

Just a thought.
It is just Workflow Dependent. I have used this before and it was amazingly
fast.

Nope, that didn't work either

tuser1 is the account I am attempting to read AD with

testco.com is the domain

and tuser1 is located in ou=Support Desk,ou=Admins,ou=NETWORKOPS.

shouldn't it be something like cn=tuser1,ou,ou,dc ???

thanks Kevin P.

You are perhaps typing the wrong bind user name or typing the wrong password..
If it is really testco\NETWORKOPS\Admins\Support Desk\tuser1 try
\\testco\NETWORKOPS\Admins\Support Desk\tuser1. Maybe its missing the double

Re: ITSM 7 Support Staff permissions

2008-05-22 Thread McClure, Don
Initial presentation: one particular user's CTM:People showed a
'Last Modified By'-value of other than expected parties. Further, the record
and its corresponding user record lacked Application Permissions and
Support Group associations I know I added the evening before (and then
verified, by logging in as the user in question!).

Current symptom of the suspected behavior: Out of 300-odd support staff
currently configured on our system, 43 CTM:People-records carry a
'last modified by' value OTHER than: either sys admins, or user him/herself.
I have not positively verified that another user is changing data---but too
many of us rely on 'last change'-type fields to verify a record's current
status.
If values captured in 'CTM:People->More Details->Last Modified By' are accurate,
we do indeed have another 'gremlin' in the works. Further--one particular
account shows 'last modified by' a support staffer who has no access to
see that CTM:People record at all!

Note, though: I have created a 'roaming staff' account, associated it with
several companies/support groups, and not been able to actually deliberately
modify any other personal profiles myself. We suspect there is a 'back door'
through Incident Management workflow which is allowing unintended field-value
modifications.

I'm not sure yet how it was done, just that it was, and that the last
modified user on the profile that was altered was another support user
in the same company.

Re: Tomcat lockups under Windows (7.0.1 p6)

2008-05-22 Thread Rick Westbrock
Thanks to Tor and Ankur for the memory allocation suggestions, I will
proceed down that path and see if those changes (Tomcat & Java heap
size) resolve the issue. If not then I may try MT patch 4 as an
alternative.

Thanks all,

Rick

Now we're on ARS 7.1, but at the time of the issue we were on 7.0.1 (but
not sure what patch).
We had (what I think is) a similar issue, and did get a response from
BMC.
I'm going to copy it here. Hope it helps:

You need to allocate more memory for tomcat, here are the details.

P R O B L E M:
The Tomcat application server crashes or a user finds an "Out of memory"
error in the log.

S O L U T I O N:
Boost the memory settings using one of the following solutions:

On Windows:
Choose Start > All Programs > Apache Tomcat 5.5 > Configure Tomcat.
In the dialog box that appears, click the Java tab.
Set the Initial Memory Pool option to 1024 MB.
Set the Maximum Memory Pool option to 1024 MB.
Restart Tomcat.

On Linux:
Change the minimum and maximum heap size using the -Xms and -Xmx JVM
parameters, which are available in the catalina.sh file. The new value
for CATALINA_OPTS should be as follows:
Set CATALINA_OPTS="-Xms1024m -Xmx1024m"
Restart Tomcat.

Hi Rick,

We had same issue with ARS 7.0.1 P5 and midtier 7.0.1 P5. We have an
open ticket with BMC and they don't seem to have a clue about it.
Downgraded midtier to P4, since then Tomcat is running smooth.

Having similar issues on 6.3 with Tomcat, but restarting our
Tomcat service fixes the problem. Have you checked your Java Heap size?
That's my next move, looks to be the problem in the log files.

Hi all-

Today for the second time in a two week span Tomcat on my
mid-tier has seemingly hung for no obvious reason. In each case the
login page would not even come up so I restarted the Tomcat service but
to no avail. Restarting the IIS service resolved the issue both times.
We had been running this environment for about two months with no issues
until a couple of weeks ago and the only change has been to deploy a new
web service that allows one of our portal applications to submit a
ticket into Remedy but there is no activity on the production server yet
since we're still testing in our development environment (where we
haven't seen this error at all). I have about a dozen users on the
mid-tier off and on during the day.

I searched the list and the Remedy KB but haven't seen anyone
with similar problems. Environment details are below, any suggestions
about where to start troubleshooting would be much appreciated.

For the Bind User, we use: */*
For the User Search Filter, we use: *sAMAccountName=$\USER$* (this applies
to AD LDAP only I think)

Also, did you complete the ARDBC LDAP Configuration form settings too? I
don't remember if that was required but we have that set too.

2008-05-22 Thread Grooms, Frederick W
I've seen cases where you need to use the testco\tuser1 format as well.

Is the error in the log after the ldap_simple_bind for the tuser1 or
after the user you are trying to log in as? (You may need to set
Plugin-Log-Level:400 in your config to get the detail info).

If it is after the user login attempt you may have your filter
incorrect. We use sAMAccountName=$\USER$ for the filter.

Re: Populating Table field with sql query result

2008-05-22 Thread Russell, James C
**
Hello Victor;

SELECT COUNT(1) FROM Your_Form_Name WHERE (Create_Date >= DATEDIFF(s,
'19700101', DATEADD(mm,-30,getdate( AND (rb_TicketType = 5)

If No Requests Match: Set fields to NULL
If Multiple Records Match: Use first matching

Fields:
  Name: cntTiks
  Value: $1$

...there's no reason in the world that you couldn't make a set fields with an
sql statement like:

SELECT thing1, thing2, thing3, ... ,thingN FROM Your_Form WHERE Field_name =
'char_value' OR Field_Name2 > 84600

(or whatever--could do joins and unions against multiple forms if necessary)

..and then the Names/values in the 'Fields' section of the set fields is like:

Name: Field1 Value: $1$
Name: Field2 Value: $2$
Name: Field3 Value: $3$
  :
  :
Name: FieldN Value: $N$

When you're choosing a value for the field, the drop-down list will give you an
option to choose a value x from the 'SQL Result Column,' where x is a number
between 1 and N (the number of fields you're pulling in your select statement).

Erm. For whatever it's worth.

HTH

!= will typically cause a table scan of some type; it could be a
partial table scan (of a small number of rows) or a full table scan,
depending on how Oracle breaks down and processes the query.

field would default to 0, then be set to 1 by a filter if 'Parent' =
$NULL$ and 'Link Type' = $NULL$ and 'Incident ID' != $tmp_IncidentID$.
You could then index and query on this field. It's a crappy
solution, but the best available option I see with the tools
available. YMMV depending on the cardinality of the resulting data.

"The search seems to perform a full table scan against the table..."

Learn how to use the autotrace features of sql*plus.
http://asktom.oracle.com/tkyte/article1/autotrace.html

If a partial table scan on 1m records causes a timeout, you may want
to evaluate the performance of your db and how much storage the table
is actually using. How is the table structured? Does it contain
lobs, does it have a lot of columns, etc. These are design decisions
that may result in poor performance.

Re: Populating Table field with sql query result

2008-05-22 Thread Carey Matthew Black
Victor,

It is not the same as an ARS table field... but

What if you write workflow that walks the data and builds a dynamic
HTML page that is displayed in a View field?
(Which by the way is basically what the CI viewer does, only it uses a
Data Visualization Field which has a few more bells and whistles than
a plain old View field(iframe).)

Do you think this approach could work for the desired UI?

There is a step in the documentation (configuration pg 61) where you
have to specify a path in SLM:ConfigPreferences to the mid-tier web
server in order for them to show up.

Don't get too excited, however, since there is still one entire table in
the Service Targets dashboard that does not show up in mid-tier, only in

since another defect in the same table opens the incorrect incident for
the one displayed - they are drilling down on entry id instead of

All of the images on the rest of the page show correctly.

Re: Chnage Management email notification issue

2008-05-22 Thread T. Dee
We had a similar issue, that being when you create a Change and you
add Task(s), however, at the last minute you decided NOT to save the
Change record ALL the Task(s) associcated with the Change are set to
Status = Closed / Status Reason = Canceled. This results in Orphan
Records.

According to Remedy this is by design. I'm not exactly sure why
Orphan records would be by design, but that is what I am told.

If you click on the "Open" button to open the Change from the Orphan
Task it says something like "Requester is not available" - this is not
clear.

The Change record does not exist, but all your Task(s) do.

As well take note if you delete your Change record it does not warn
you about the Task(s), the result will be your Change record will be
delete, but your Task(s) will still exist - orphan records.

All three fields are separate indexes. Guess it will just be one of those
searches that won't be instantaneous. Funny thing though. Right now, since
we clear the statistics, the search is pretty instantaneous. By adding the

Any answers on the first part?

NOT searches (including !=) will result in a table scan. Searches using "=

That being said, I don't see a better way to structure your query and still
get the data you want.

Oracle Index Performance

2008-05-22 Thread Robert Halstead
Ladies and Gents,

We have been constantly trying to improve performance on a form with over 1
million records in it by analyzing indexes, or clearing the statistics for
the table in oracle. The last thing we did was clear the statistics for our
form BZ:Incident because for some reason searches in Remedy, even though we
were searching on index fields, were not using the indexes in Oracle. By
clearing the statistics, I believe we're forcing oracle the use the indexes
resulting in the searches . However, searching on a field that is not
indexed now performs a database time out error in Remedy.

My question: Where is the happy place? When you guys analyze statistics,
to what percent? Also, how often do you find yourself analyzing indexes?

On a related question, performing searches in Remedy using the != operator
does not utilize the index for that specific field. I'm performing a search
on a form where 'Parent' = $NULL$ and 'Link Type' = $NULL$ and 'Incident ID'
!= $tmp_IncidentID$. Essentially I'm wanting to return all tickets that are
not associated with a parent and not return the incident I'm trying to
link.

How would I change this query so that I utilize the indexes? The search
seems to perform a full table scan against the table in oracle. All three
fields are indexed on the form.

I sure that this is covered in the Performance and Tuning class, I just have
yet to take it.

Environment:
AR System 6.3 Patch 20
Oracle 9i

Re: SLM 7.1 web dashboard images missing

2008-05-22 Thread strauss
There is a step in the documentation (configuration pg 61) where you
have to specify a path in SLM:ConfigPreferences to the mid-tier web
server in order for them to show up.

Don't get too excited, however, since there is still one entire table in
the Service Targets dashboard that does not show up in mid-tier, only in
the User Tool. They logged a defect for me, but maybe it is a blessing
since another defect in the same table opens the incorrect incident for
the one displayed - they are drilling down on entry id instead of
incident id.

We are using SLM 7.1 - on the WUT everything is fine.

On the web none of the images in the tables on the dashboard show up.
They simply just show the red X's you get from any webpage where the
image is missing. Specifically these are the images that show up in the
"Status" and "Previous" columns and there are two possible images -
Breached and Compliant.

All of the images on the rest of the page show correctly.

Two questions:

1.) Are these images supposed to show in the SLM Application object
under the Support Files tab? If so, what are they called?

2.) Do they work for anyone else using SLM 7.1 Dashboard on the web?

Thanks Walter ... Not reassuring :(

This was working before we changed patch. But I don't remember if we were
on patch 2 or 3 at the time.

When I do the same Web service but using the OpGet method instead of the
OpGetList, it works.
But I need this to return N entries not just one.

looks like the fix is going to be in 7.0.1 patch 8, tentatively expected

Hi all,

We are having an issue with a Web service. I've been working on this
since Tuesday. Can't find any reasons, but I am NO web gurue. So I really
need your help.

We do consume Web services without any problems. But this is the first
time we will be publishing some.

The Web service itself is to simply retrieve a list of data that matches
the request. So we are using OpGetList.
In the midtier logs, I do see the call being made, the parameters being
properly set. But what I think (not sure if I am right) it is on the
return of the information to the consumer, that we crash. The
authetication is set at the midtier level, so no user, password is being
past thru the web service (WSDL).

and in the arerror.log we see this:

Re: Tomcat lockups under Windows (7.0.1 p6)

2008-05-22 Thread Maynard,Tor T.

We had same issue with ARS 7.0.1 P5 and midtier 7.0.1 P5. We have an
open ticket with BMC and they don't seem to have a clue about it.
Downgraded midtier to P4, since then Tomcat is running smooth.

Dear List,

Hope all is well, Kforce is looking for a talented Remedy Developer

position with one of our clients.

Title: Remedy Developer

Type: Direct-Hire at Client

Authorization Status: US Citizen/Green Card/EAD/H1-B Visa

Duration: Permanent

Salary: 75,000-90,000 + 12% Bonus (Full Relocation Offered)

Location: McLean, VA

Interview Process: 1st round phone, 2nd round in-person (We will fly

Industry:

Our client is a stockholder - owned corporation chartered by Congress to
increase the supply of funds that mortgage lenders, such as commercial
banks, mortgage bankers, savings institutions and credit unions, can
make available to homebuyers and multifamily investors.

Since 1970, our client has pursued the purpose their Congressional
founders set out for them: to provide a continuous and low - cost source
of credit to finance America's housing. They achieve this purpose by

1) Making mortgage funds available whenever and wherever Americans need
them by linking the worldwide capital markets to the U.S. mortgage
markets

2) Providing a continuous, reliable and low - cost flow of mortgage
capital to finance housing for the nation's homebuyers and renters

3) Bringing the benefits of the market in which we operate - the
secondary mortgage market - to families and communities across the
nation

4) Freddie Mac conducts its business primarily by buying mortgages from
lenders, packaging the mortgages into securities and selling the
securities - guaranteed by Freddie Mac - to investors. 5) Mortgage
lenders use the proceeds from selling loans to Freddie Mac to fund new
mortgages, constantly replenishing the pool of funds available for
lending to homebuyers and apartment owners. Just as stock and bond
markets have put investor capital to work for corporations, the
secondary mortgage market puts private investor capital to work for
homebuyers and apartment owners, providing a continuous flow of
affordable funds for home financing.

For the most part, the process is invisible to borrowers and renters.
But because our client exists, millions of Americans have benefited from
lower monthly mortgage payments and better access to home financing. In
fact, for more than 35 years they have opened doors for one in six
homebuyers and more than four million renters in America.

RESOLVED: Fwd: CI Relationship Viewer - Works for Demo and not for other users. (UNCLASSIFIED)

Good Morning,

For anyone else that is/was experiencing problems with the CIViewer failing

** That actually perfectly explains why only admins are working...because
it's obviously using Mid-Tier to get you the view...and it needs to log you
in...and that is considered a separate connection, which isn't allowed for
anyone except admins...that is of course unless you are logged in through
mid-tier already, then it just uses your current connection to the
serverdefinitely a design problem

Hi,

just to add to this discussion, we have the same issue here.
The CI Viewer only works for users with administrator privileges or when
users access Remedy through the mid-tier.
I checked the mid-tier log files on our server and found that CI Viewer
generates the following error message when non-admin user tries to access CI
Viewer from the PC client

MessageType: 2
MessageNum: 9093
MessageText: User is currently connected from another machine
We were advised by support to upgrade the CMDB with the CI viewer to version
2.0.01 patch 005, which I have not had time to do yet.

  ** Hi Gordon,

The reason that Demo brings up the CI Viewer in the AR User Tool and
appadmin doesn't is because Demo has Administrator group permissions and
appadmin only has ITSM Asset Management application role permissions
(out-of-the-box). It looks like you just gave your new test appadmin
account Administrator permissions, which is why it's now working for you.

The problem with the CI Viewer is that it will only run for accounts with
Administrator rights and displays the "The CI Relationship Viewer could not
open because the specified root CI does not exist." error for all non-Admin
users. I recommend you try your test again but this time don't give the
user Administrator rights and see if you can replicate the error.

I know a few have suggested looking at form permissions but unfortunately
that's not the issue in this instance as non-Admin users can run the CI
Viewer just fine through their browser once Midtier 7.1.00 Patch 002 is
applied but not when they try in the User Tool. The problem seems to reside
somewhere in some faulty CI Viewer (at least in the 2.0.01 release) code
that the User Tool is having a hard time processing but was fixed on the
Mid-Tier side.

I'm still in the process of troubleshooting the problem, which has been on
going for several months now, with BMC and will let you know when/if a fix
is found.

Have a great afternoon,

Re: Publishing Web services crashes the server

2008-05-22 Thread Walters, Mark
The stack trace matches a server defect we have logged (SW00288690). It looks
like the fix is going to be in 7.0.1 patch 8, tentatively expected at the end
of June.

**
Hi all,

We are having an issue with a Web service. I've been working on this since
Tuesday. Can't find any reasons, but I am NO web gurue. So I really need your
help.

We do consume Web services without any problems. But this is the first time we
will be publishing some.

The Web service itself is to simply retrieve a list of data that matches the
request. So we are using OpGetList.
In the midtier logs, I do see the call being made, the parameters being
properly set. But what I think (not sure if I am right) it is on the return of
the information to the consumer, that we crash. The authetication is set at
the midtier level, so no user, password is being past thru the web service
(WSDL).

and in the arerror.log we see this:

Re: View Form - Remote DB not available.

2008-05-22 Thread Grooms, Frederick W
You can do a SQL Set fields test of the remote DB (Through an Oracle
function to trap the error).

Oracle Function

CREATE OR REPLACE FUNCTION TEST_REMOTE_SYSTEM (strSQL VARCHAR2 )
RETURN VarChar2 IS
   ResultList VarChar2(255);
   TYPE RefCurTyp IS REF CURSOR;
   myCursor RefCurTyp;
BEGIN
   ResultList := NULL;
   OPEN myCursor FOR strSQL;
   FETCH myCursor INTO ResultList;
   CLOSE myCursor;
   RETURN trim(ResultList);
EXCEPTION
   WHEN OTHERS THEN
   RETURN NULL;
END TEST_REMOTE_SYSTEM;
/

To use this simply pass in your own SQL to test the remote system. In a
Set Fields from SQL action put in for the SQL.

Select TEST_REMOTE_SYSTEM( 'Select count(*) From
[EMAIL PROTECTED]' ) From Dual

You can do any SQL Select statement in the function as long as it
returns only 1 value. i.e.
Select ID From TABLE Where ROWNUM = 1

If you get a value back then the system is up. If you get NULL then the
remote system did not return anything and it is probably down.

Listers,

I have a view form(on ARS 6.3 - Oracle) that is looking at a
remote database table. If the remote database is not available, I get a
nasty Oracle error when trying to access the view form through workflow.
Is there anyway to check if the remote DB is available before I run my
workflow ??

Thanks,

using Web Services?

Thanks to all for your support/wisdom. After speaking with BMC last night
and getting a WebEX of the product, I came to realize that DSO does not
"natively" support connection to another Remedy server any more. The
options appear to be:

1. Mixed solution using multiple Remedy tools and maintain the logic in EIE

2. Write an adapter in C/C++

3. Script the entire thing in ARSPerl/API etc

Anyway.. that's where we're at.

Thanks again to all...

One limitation with EIE/AIE will however be attachment fields (if any). I
guess if you can deal with that, you can try playing around with it. DSO
would not have that limitation.

Drew, this is an integration partner that we have to connect to... not
another internal machine. This partner wants to do as little work (because
they have not been given a budget to integrate, but have been given a
mandate to integrate) in order to integrate with us. This partner would not
want to provide an additional db license/security etc for this effort.

Joe, all of the above applies to DSO as well. Using DSO would require they
this partner purchase and configure it as well. Even if they already owned
DSO, it can be pretty complicated to implement and would probably require a
lot of work on their part... which we have know has to be at a minimum.

That's why EIE was chosen. I done plenty of integrations with 3rd party
products so I understand the basics. All of the marketing material says
that it can be used to integrate with another Remedy server as well... it's
just not clearly defined how to set up that data exchange.

Anyway.. hope that answers some of the questions so far.

Hi List,

I need to use EIE to synchronize data between 2 Remedy servers. All of the
EIE (7.X) documentation explains how to move data between 1 Remedy server
and some other 3rd party application... usually a database or flat file.
Does anyone have any experience configuring data exchanges that moves data
between 2 Remedy servers?

Thanks in advance for the help.

Have you tried attaching to the other Remedy DB as if it was
just a standard SQL DB? Try using the view associated with whatever table

Re: Outlook integration

2008-05-22 Thread Bill Hoffmeier
Outlook integrationUday,

I have a solution like that. My solution, however, involves a run process
calling an executable I wrote. The executable was written using VB.Net and VS
2005 and contains a custom VB.Net class that creates the iCal file. The
executable gathers the information, builds the iCal file, and sends an email
with an attachment from the command line using SMTP. My class creates an event
rather than an alarm. I've been meaning to extend it, but haven't gotten
around to it.

By the way, my class was derived from samples and information I found on the
web and didn't take that long to write, considering my knowledge of the subject
before hand and my skill level. I consider myself a better than intermediate
but not an expert .Net programmer.

Hi Jim,

I have not done it but have some idea.

Outlook supports open standard called iCal defined by IETF. As per IETF's RFC
the calendar is text based file through which you can define calendar event.

So you will have to have workflow to create this file and then send as a email
message to the intended recipient.

View Form - Remote DB not available.

2008-05-22 Thread John Kovalcik
Listers,

I have a view form(on ARS 6.3 - Oracle) that is looking at a
remote database table. If the remote database is not available, I get a
nasty Oracle error when trying to access the view form through workflow.
Is there anyway to check if the remote DB is available before I run my
workflow ??

Thanks,

Re: Table = $NULL$

2008-05-22 Thread ITSM Support

*Hi Lisa,
*
For Run If condition 'column' = $NULL$ only when there are no records in
table,
you can use this condition not only for RequestId but for any other
required field also.

Hope this helps...

Include the request ID field in your table.
Run IF col1 = $NULL$

where col1 is the Request ID field in the table. It may be col2 or 3 or a
custom name. I usually rename my table columns to something like colRQSTID.
Then my Run If statement would be colRQSTID = $NULL$

Am I missing something?

Re: EIE questions

2008-05-22 Thread Marc Simmons
Thanks to all for your support/wisdom. After speaking with BMC last night
and getting a WebEX of the product, I came to realize that DSO does not
"natively" support connection to another Remedy server any more. The
options appear to be:

1. Mixed solution using multiple Remedy tools and maintain the logic in EIE
2. Write an adapter in C/C++
3. Script the entire thing in ARSPerl/API etc

Anyway.. that's where we're at.

Thanks again to all...

Marc

There's a bunch of Outlook related downloads on Gidd's site:

I think Matt Reinfeld has some stuff also:

Perhaps you could use one of these as a model.

Hi Jim,

I have not done it but have some idea.

Outlook supports open standard called iCal defined by IETF. As per
IETF's RFC the calendar is text based file through which you can define
calendar event.

So you will have to have workflow to create this file and then send as a
email message to the intended recipient.

Bi Directional Relationship between two CI Instances

2008-05-22 Thread Naveen Kaushik

Hi List,

Could we have bidirectional relationship between two CI instances without
loosing the functioanlity to see relationship record from CI Viewer.

I an trying to establish the bi directioanal relationship by creating two
relationship classes and populating each relationship class with records.

But the "view relation ship record details" option is disabled when I right
click on the bidirectioanal relationship arrow.

I am on ARS 7.1 and CMDB 2.1.0.

Please guide.

Thanks
Naveen

Thank you Fred - but I'm afraid this approach is unacceptable.

The idea is to introduce a (sort of) summary button on system class form. On
clicking this button a summary page describing this particular CI together
its dependencies, components and components of its dependencies (in a single
Table form) will be displayed.
