Re: Selection Menu Question

2009-07-07 Thread Joe DeSouza
While I think I more or less understand what you want to do, what exactly do
you mean by 'filter out attributes of a selection field' ??

Are you looking to perform a search Based on the selection of the INC Status?
So if 'In Progress' is selected do you want the system to return results that
contain records that have the App Status of 'Approoved', 'Scheduled' and
'BreakFix'??

If so depending on where you want that search result to be returned to,
(Results List or Table Field) I do not think it is really hard to build an
external qualification that does it?

Wouldn't you be looking at creating an external qualificaton that could be used
in the table field or results list that would build the qualication against the
App Status on selection of the INC Status? I think its as simple as that..

Or have I understood what you want to do wrong? Sorry more questions than
answers - so if I have understood you wrong please try and explain what exactly
you are aiming for..

Cheers

Joe

I have encountered similar problems with a client that was caused by the user

Thank you all for your suggestions. After using them, I still was not able to
make the AR User floating working for my users. I then did what Remedy
support suggested (restart Remedy service), and it worked. I then talked to
them to see why this has happened, to see what the root cause of the problem
might be. Basically, they said they have seen this before and it could be due
to various reasons, such as, cache problems. Anyway, I asked them to send me
something in writing, and hopefully, I'll receive that email soon.

Again, thanks for everyone's involvement.

Additionally, try logging into only that server with your admin tool. If you
receive the standard message stating:

"This version of the Action Request System(R) is ready for use or evaluation
without purchasing or activiating an authorization key. For unlimited
capabilities, contact your sales representative or visit www.remedy.com.

If you receive the above error message, then something is wrong with your AR

Thanks Roger, but we are well below the number of Floating licenses

The problem you are encountering could be associated to Floating write

Re: AR User Floating licenses converting to Read (UNCLASSIFIED)

2009-07-07 Thread Jason Miller
If the server is validly licensed, what about External Authentication? Do
you have "Authenticate Unregistered User" checked? Or even "Allow Guest
Users"

I think it is a long shot that all of your users would have started using
the different case usernames then they usually use. This sounds like a
symptom of people authenticating not using the exact case as their login
name in the User record.

In the case of Authenticate Unregistered Users they would still authenticate
to the LDAP server but would not match up their User record. They would be
logged in but their licenses and groups would not be picked up from the User
form.

For Allow Guest Users they would be allow to login as a guest using any
username they typed in.

You usually wouldn't see a user behavior change on mass scale like this.

Did something in change between the external authentication server and
Remedy? Maybe their LDAP usernames where changed (jsmith changed to
john.smith) and they are now registering as Guests? Maybe somebody changed
the case of the Login Names of all of these users in the User form?

Just some thoughts, HTH.

Re: DataImport JavaDoc

2009-07-07 Thread LJ Longwing
I have a Java program that does all sorts of migration work for us,
including data import from ARX. I have previously written my own parsing
routine for ARX which works fairly well, but I would prefer to use theirs
(because it's theirs) from within my Java program without launching another
shell to execute it. My hope was that they built it to be called as an
instance, and I have it 'functional' but I would like to do some additional
things than just grab the file and import it...and am having difficulty
figuring out the interface without any documentation.

It would surprise me that they intended it to be used in this manner, as I
would expect they would expect you to use the Remedy API to do it in your
program (though I could be wrong). Are you importing data from a file or
from data stored in memory? If from a file, couldn't you simply call out to
the command line version of the import utility to do the work? I know that
may not be as elegant or streamlined as it sounds like you would like, but
it might be much easier.

Hi,

I don't know which platform you are using but I found the documentation -
well, the help files - in the plugins folder within the distribution folder.
On our Windows 2003 server they are in:

C:\Program Files\BMC
Software\ARSystem\dataimporttool\plugins\com.bmc.arsys.dataimport.help_7.5.0
\doc.zip

In the com.bmc.arsys.dataimport.help_7.5.0 folder are some xml files which
make up the index pages. These HTML pages are what you get if you select
Help Contents form the Help menu within BMC Remedy Data Import.

Hope this helps,

Ian

The db can be 12.5.3 or higher but you must use the 12.5.3 client for

The following database client versions are supported and required to

this version - lower or higher versions are not supported.

Hi List,

We're trying to install Remedy 7.5 on a test server (Unix - Solaris)
with Sybase database (on another server) - Sybase server installed was
15.0. When asked for the database client home path, we got a message
saying it can't find the lib directory. It is somehow looking for a
12_5 directory even if we specified a 15.0 sybase db.

client home path for example: ../ocs/15.0 it's looking for:
../ocs/15.0/ASE-12_5/lib and /ocs/15.0/OCS-12_5/lib

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Thank you all for your suggestions. After using them, I still was not able
to
make the AR User floating working for my users. I then did what Remedy
support suggested (restart Remedy service), and it worked. I then talked to
them to see why this has happened, to see what the root cause of the problem
might be. Basically, they said they have seen this before and it could be
due
to various reasons, such as, cache problems. Anyway, I asked them to send me
something in writing, and hopefully, I'll receive that email soon.

Again, thanks for everyone's involvement.

Additionally, try logging into only that server with your admin tool. If you

Ian

Re: AR User Floating licenses converting to Read (UNCLASSIFIED)

2009-07-07 Thread Opela, Gary L CTR USAF AFMC 72 CS/SCBAH
Make sure the Host ID is correct on all of your licenses you have
installed.

Check this by going to add a new license. Select the Product Feature of
"AR Server" and note the Host ID that remedy pulls.

Next, check your license keys that you've already installed to ensure
they are referencing the same Host ID. If they are not, then the license
keys will be invalid. It is case sensitive (I've found out the hard
way), so ensure all the letters are the same case (should be upper
case).

If the Host ID is different, on your existing licenses which have
previously been installed, then what remedy chooses when you go to add a
new license, then something changed, either you had to have a NIC
replaced (in the event your server does not have integrated network
ports), or for some reason remedy is seeing a different MAC (as most
servers have more than one), or maybe they virtualized your server
overnight without letting you know.

No, the Read(floating) license stays with that user. The user can search but

The problem is with the fact that the titles in the .csv file are the labels
and not the actual database names of the fields on AP:Process Definition. So,
auto-map is not possible. First, you must create a mapping file using the Java
Import tool UI. There also you will have to do manual mapping of fields. Then
import using that mapping file.

If the data file is arx, then import would be possible even without mapping
file, since arx file contains the field-ids also.

Re: logic limit on shared workflow?

2009-07-07 Thread Ben Chernys
How would you expect a performance degradation on this issue?

A record is saved. ARS must query its filters / cache for filters on that
form. If a filter is used in multiple forms, it cannot make a performance
difference as only the set of filters for that one form is looked at.

So, if you do what you plan and run a performance test, I expect zero
performance changes whether the set of filters is shared by one form or 500
forms.

A good way (in general, not related to your query) to increase filter
performance is to NOT have filter qualifications evaluated at all by coding
them up in filter guides and implementing branches (gotos) within that
guide. Filters in guides have no firing conditions and are not looked at
until the guide itself is fired. Then appropriate branching within that
guide can eliminate condition evaluation of filters in that guide.

Cheers
Ben

Sorry I wasn't clear, I am concerned about whether there is a performance
degradation or a hard limit on the number of forms that can be
attached/share a group of 120 links and about 20 filters, and you've
answered the part about number of forms, now the only concern is whether the
same workflow shared by 50 forms causes a significant decrease in
performance.

Thanks!

Known Error Workaround

2009-07-07 Thread Frank Caruso
ITSM 7.0.2 p5

Scenario 1: From an incident user relates a known error. When a work around
or resolution is added to the known error the assignee of the incident is
notified.

Scenario 2: A problem record is created and linked from an incident. A known
error is created and linked from that problem record. So, there is now an
incident with a related problem and a known error related to the problem.
When a work around or resolution is added to the known error no
notifications are sent.

Shouldn't a notification be sent to someone in scenario 2? Is this a bug?

Thank you

Frank.

Remedy Web Services: How to use startRecord in GetList operation

2009-07-07 Thread DJenamani
Hi All,

I am using Remedy Server 6.3. There is an option of using startRecord and
maxLimit incase of BMC ARServer 7 for opGetList operation type of Web
services. But in 6.3 there is no option like this. For maxLimit I have
configured the maxOccuarnce parametere in the properties field mapping. That
is working fine But I need to identify the start record , so that it
will be not a burden on Database server while searching records by using
getList operation of Web Services. Is there any way to use start record
facility in Remedy 6.3 ?

If anybody has idea about this please reply

Waiting for your response positively...

Thanks in advance,

Dibyendu Jenamani

getting error while importing the data using BMC Remedy Import Tool

2009-07-07 Thread RKVKRKVK
Hi,

When i try to import data (AR Server Data, AP:Process Definition) from one
server to another server, I am getting the following error.

This is my original data which is imported from Test Machine (ProcessDef.csv
file).

"Process*","Form*","Type*","Status*","Can Reassign?","Approval Success*","If
Multiple Approvers*","Allow Ad Hoc Next Approver?*","Validate
Approvers?*","Require Password?*","Created By*"
"test","AAA:TST:TWO","Ad Hoc","Active","Yes","No More Approvers","Allow Only
One Approver","No one","No","No","Demo"

when i try to import the data, using BMC Remedy Import Tool, i am getting
the following error.

INFO - Error importing record 1: ERROR (104): Field/Value list item is empty
"test","AAA:TST:TWO","Ad Hoc","Active","Yes","No More Approvers","Allow Only
One Approver","No one","No","No","Demo"
INFO - Import Completed. 0 records were imported to AP:Process Definition; 1
Records were not.

can anyone give me the solution for the above problem.

Best Regards,
Krishna B
