2017-06-14 Thread Joel D Sender
Everyone,

LJ pointed me to the hidden log file location – something BMC Support couldn’t
do.

BMC now has the logs.

Yes I did use a password in the User form.

I re-typed the passwords each time.

Only one upgrade was run at a time (at least an hour a part)

I’ll check the Remedy Application Service password, but the error was on the
Admin User.

And the winner is Raj Hiremath from BMC who suggested restarting the AR Server!

The upgrade is now in motion.

Thank you all for responding!

Once again, the ARSlist came thorough!!

Can you pl run maintainance utility which zip the logs and send through?
Not finding the logs could be a function of setting temp environment variable

Did you start more than one upgrade of the AR Server at the same time? I know
this was not supported because each time the installer is run, it randomly
creates the password for this user and therefore the one already running only
knows the previous password.

2 things I can think of to try

1 Always use an account with a local password in the User form (during the
upgrade the LDAP integration may not be available)
2 Always re-type all the passwords in the install GUI (I have encountered
where the install GUI shows the password dots, but the data in there is bad)

I remember having some issues about a year ago with the 9.1 installer and

I am not sure if I am correct here, but not sure if the failure is for your
user or Remedy Application Service user since you are saying reported failure
is for ‘AR System Server Admin’ user.
This can potentially because the RAS user password in ar.cfg is corrupted.
AR Server restart might correct this.

websphere 8.5.5.11 - anyone for MT 9 to work in cluster?

2017-06-14 Thread ddussie
Hi,

websphere 8.5.5.11 - anyone for MT 9 to work in cluster?

We are having a login issue.. trying multiple times before it successfully
logins in.

We had worked with IBM and BMC about a year ago to websphere 8.x and
WebSphere at this time was 8.5.5.1 . IBM had suggested to upgrade to
8.5.5.6 and set a setting available in the version .. because at the jvm
level the request was not being return on the same path.

Server 1 and 2 are websphere clustered
No load balancers between MT and ARS
We only have a single ARS with DB local
JVM 1 on Server 1 ---> ARS
JVM 2 on Server 1 ---> ARS
JVM 3 on Server 2 ---> ARS
JVM 4 on Server 2 ---> ARS

So I think what is it doing is this….
On multiple login to one of the JVM, it will fail multiple time before it
finally logins it.
I try to connect to JVM 1 – the browser sends request to Mt(jvm), it
responses to (JVM 2, JVM 3, JVM 4) before it finally finds JVM 1 and
successfully logins.
it could hit a number of the wrong jvms till it hit the right one.

we have no internal support for Apache tomcat ..we have team for websphere.
trying to make this work ... till it can't ; then resort to supporting
apache.
