We are looking into implementing single sign-in for our users (I have gotten
the BMC documentation to review). I was wondering if anyone else has
implemented this and would be willing to share if you had any issues
implementing or since implementation and also see if you could provide any
pointers.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Folks. I am finding some weird behavior with ITSM 7 and the CCM calender.
When we open the calender the calender opens as expected however trying to
drilldown on the calender and open items produces an error

CFG:Escalation Form

Hi folks. I am just wondering if anyone knows what the CFG:Escalation form is

have been tasked to create a few notifications for when targets are missed (IE
respond targets) in the absense of an SLM module so I have been poking around
and came across this form.

Thanks Jennifer. I am specifying a specific survey ID. I guess what I do not
want is the results pane to appear, where there is only one record in the list.
I would like the record to appear full screen without the option to search

Steve,

Take a survey yourself and note the url when you’re taking it. It’s opening to
the results page because of the form name you’re using, i.e. form=SRM%3aSurvey
You ought to be able to take the survey and reference a specific survey record,
eid=SRV0190, by substituting in the survey record number you’re looking
for.

Notifications to non incident user

2009-03-11 Thread Steven Iocco

Hello folks. Can anyone think of a way in ITSM 7 to configure a notification
to a user in the tool when an incident is created as Critical or High? I know
I can do this via a filter but is there a way to configure this using a User
event notification?

I should mention that this person who wants to receive the email is not the
requestor, assignee/group or owner/group. they are not related to the incident
in any way.

Sending URL in email to Open Crystal Report

2009-03-06 Thread Steven Iocco

Hello folks. We have crystal enterprise integrated with the midtier so we can
run reports from the web. We have a report which runs via a button on a form
right now, which displays the records information as well as some related date
stored in other forms. The requirement we have been asked for is that when an
incident is resolved, send the requestor a link to the particular report. Is
this possible? I am thinking it might have to be done via a window open
action, if VUI-Type=web, and $user$=Requestor sort of approach then a run
process to click the button.

Any help is appreciated.

Re: Repost of a question. What do I need to do to push data from anew field on the RQC:ServiceRequestWizard to the Incident or Change form

2009-03-06 Thread Steven Iocco

This will be very useful with my scenario right now. What it unfortunately
does not cover is the process from moving the data from the incident to the
request. I have a requirement to move the resolution to the Service Request so
users can login and see how the service request was resolved. It would also be
nice to include the resolution in outbound emails from the service request.

I guess I have some digging to do.

Rohini,

Thanks you filled in the missing link.

The filter HPD:HII:CreateIncident_100, was missing from my list.

Below are the pieces needed to be touched.

1. Add fields to “RQC:ServiceRequestWizard”
a. Modified Active link “RQC:RQW:Submit_110_SubmitRequest” to push data
from new fields to “SRM:Request”
2. Add fields to “SRM:Request”
a. Modified filter “SRM:AOI:GetSRFieldValues” to push data from new
fields to “SRM:AppinstanceBridge”
3. Add fields to “SRM:AppinstanceBridge”
4. Maybe add record to “SRM:QuestionTemplate”
a. Filter
“SRM:AOI:CreateEvent_CreatelAppRequest_CreateSRFieldAttrib_TableLoop_20” uses
the records in “SRM:QuestionTemplate” to push the data to “CAI:EventParams”
5. Add fields to “HPD:InterfaceIncident_Create”
a. Add new fields to “HPD:HII:CreateIncident_100`!”
6. Add fields to “HPD:Help Desk”

Once again thanks to all,

Howard

I need to add two fields on the RQC:ServiceRequestWizard and have the data

 As...
Renaming to your custom nomenclature. Modify and enable the new workflow. You
can then save a .def file of your new workflow to import (if needed) following
a new patch or upgrade. Often following an upgrade your old OOB workflow will
be re-enabled, so a .def of those is usually a good idea to keep track of them
and allow you to compare any modification made by the update.

As far as naming convention... Some people put the company name (ABC) at the
front of the old name, but I find it's easier to find them alongside the
original code if the company name is added to the end.

For field IDs I let the system pick it unless I'm using the field in multiple
forms and want continuity across them. Everyone has a different way of
assigning their own IDs. I've seen some separate ranges for each specific
field type, while others just go with a large group that is not in the Remedy
reserved range. To each his own. I find that there is little gained by either
approach and tracking them is time consuming.

Have fun;

Creating/refreshing Development Server

2009-02-04 Thread Steven Iocco

Hi folks. I know this topic has been thrown around a few times but I am
finding it hard to get a clear answer. Our company has a development server
installed already but it is in need of a refresh. Should this simply be a
matter of restoring a copy of the production database into development? The
app is ITSM 7.1 and development is up and running no problems (was setup before
my time). I ask because from what I understand licenses are now stored in the
DB as opposed to a license file.
Any help is appreciated on pre/post restore procedures. We also have a remedy

Identify an incident that originated from SRM

2008-11-07 Thread Steven Iocco

Hi folks. Just wondering if there is a field or ID on the incident form that
identifies if an incident originated from the SRM. I imagine there is one and
could probably find it but thought it might be quicker to ask the list.

Thanks Janie. I modified the url with the mid tier and app server name and
the midtier opened up to a search 'survey' form. I assume once this is
configured it will open a new 'survey' form and have the Request ID field set
already? Or is this to be entered by the user?

SYS:Attchments. You will need to modify the URL with the correct mid-tier and

Re: Mid Tier 7.0.1 Patch 8 and TomCat

2008-09-24 Thread Steven Iocco

Thanks Joe. For some reason, 5.5.17 (which is bundled) works, 5.5.27 works but
5.5.26 does not work, and throws the error mentioned below-9350. I am not sure
exactly what workflow was causing the issue with 5.5.26 but believe its related
to table looping. Upgrading to 5.5.27 solved the issue.

I am not sure why you are getting that error. I have mine at 5.5.25 at the
moment, not yet up to 5.5.27.

Does everything else work except submit?

I see Sivarama has already answered your question about how to comfigure heap
size on windows. Just make sure that the max size you choose is 65 to 70% of
the 'total available FREE memory' (not the total memory of the server as some
of the memory must be used by other apps or startup programs that makes the
total available memory less than the total memory)

You will get tomcat startup errors in case you specify memory larger than total
available memory..

Also if you do not leave about 30 to 35% headroom your web server machine might
start eventually choking up, and you may have problems shutting down tomcat
gracefully when you need to..

Personally I feel it would be better to install the tomcat engine after
downloading it from apache as the latest patch for Tomcat 5 server is 5.5.27
while the bundled version is 5.5.25. The bundled version does not have the
Tomcat manager or admin modules included and these if needed have to be
separately downloaded anyways.. So downloading it from apache, you could
download the newest drop of Tomcat for version 5 (as I'm not quite sure if MT
7.1 would be compatible with Tomcat 6 - haven't tried that configuration
personally) Also do not forget to configure the min and max heap size for
Tomcat, failing which Tomcat could crash for lack of memory. Your max heap size
should preferably be no more than 70% of the total available free memory
allowing the system about 30% available headroom to perform other system
tasks.. Joe

That is actually a default installation method (and the preferred method for
highest performance) – just pick Other for your web server, and then Tomcat.
Tomcat will be installed and used for both the application server and the web
server. If you install Tomcat first, manually, then select it as your web
server during the mid-tier installation – it should appear in addition to IIS
and Other (on Windows servers). The documentation does not show all of the
possible dialog boxes or permutations of the installation process in this case.

Re: Mid Tier 7.0.1 Patch 8 and TomCat

2008-09-24 Thread Steven Iocco

Chris, it appears in ITSM 7.0.1 patch 6 in incident management with some custom
code which table loops the worknote field, sets a temp field with a summary of
all the entries in the table and may or may not email the results. I mentioned
earlier-in another post, i believe it had something to do with this code. It
has a run process in it specifically PERFORM-ACTION-TABLE-SELECT-NODE. When I
disable all of the custom code, it stops the error. In the user tool there are
of course no issues. I haven't disabled bits and pieces of the workflow to
see exactly where it is but the information you provide below is useful and
sounds like the issue.
Thanks

Where do you see this error thrown with 5.5.26? Does it appear in a specific
portion of the ITSM 7 application, or are you even using ITSM??

I was told in July (below) when troubleshooting some Flashboards errors that
kept showing up in the mid-tier logs that there were compatibility problems
with 5.5.26:

“…you are currently using Tomcat 5.5.26 and we have recently started seeing
problems with this version of Tomcat and Mid Tier. Is it possible for you to
downgrade to 5.5.25 (which we bundle with our 7.1.0 patch 3 and later
installers for Mid Tier)

Note from other issue:
There?s a known problem with Tomcat 5.5.26, they?ve changed the way they handle
buffering large packets, over 8192 bytes, in patch 26 which ends up causing a
9350 error in Mid-Tier. This is why we include Tomcat 5.5.25 as of 7.1 patch
003 Mid-Tier and not 5.5.26. But, you?ll need to get a good Fiddler capture to
verify if this is the case. You can take a look at the failed packet, the one
returning the 9350 error, look on the Statistics tab in Fiddler and check the
bytes sent. If it?s anywhere near 8192 bytes or more then the only solution is
to downgrade Tomcat to 5.5.25.

While you may not be experiencing the 9350/9351 errors it's possible that the
packet response exceeds the limit placed in 5.5.26.”

In the end, the Flashboard errors were deemed to be “normal behavior” for
mid-tier!? Of course, I am on 5.5.26 under 7.1.00.002 because the same BMC
Support group told me to use it in March to resolve a problem with the patch
002 installer, and I am still in production on 5.5.26.

Approval Processes

Hi folks. I am creating a flashboard for change management showing the changes
that are scheduled in the next week. The variable is ('Scheduled Start Date'
= $TIMESTAMP$) AND ('Scheduled Start Date' = ($TIMESTAMP$ + 604800))

when I run the flashboard, the grouping (which is on scheduled start date) it
seems to group by AM then PM and then by date? All I want is grouped by date
and not AM/PM's

Thanks

Alternate Approvers-Change Management

2008-08-05 Thread Steven Iocco

I have a situation where I need a group to be an alternate approver to an
individual. The group is the service desk, is there any way to easily
accomplish this without listing all of the SD members in the alternate
approvers tab? The group changes day to day.
Thanks

Thanks. I can see that the approval mappings form can grow exponentially very
quickly if you start to introduce approvals by product categorizations etc.

Table loop to create several records per table item

2008-08-03 Thread Steven Iocco

Hi folks. I think I should know how to do this but am drawing a blank. I am
attempting to create orders based on a catalogs form. My display only form has
a table field which displays catalogs that users can choose for their order as
well as a temp field called Quantity. The user sets the quantity and what I
would like to happen is a CI created for the quantity specified. For example,
if I select 2 table items, desktop and monitors, enter in 6 for the quantity,
it should create 12 CI's in the CMDB, 6 for desktops, 6 for monitors. Any help
is appreciated.
I can do the table loop to create the 1:1 record but not 1:several records.

Approval Mappings

2008-08-03 Thread Steven Iocco

Hello ARS list. I am creating approval mappings and need to obtain an approval
for either Person A or Person B at implementation phase. Is the best way to
accomplish this via a support group whos members are not set to assignment
availability=YES? Also, 2nd part to the question...If I want to have an
alternate approver for this scenario and I want it to be a group such as the
service desk, how would this be accomplished?
Thanks in advance.

Midtier is using Apache 5.5.26 and I plan on installing this on the Crystal

the documentation and it seems that after installing Crystal if I want it to
work with an existing tomcat install there are a few extra steps, which is
fine. My questions really are whether there is anything out of the ordinary

Re: Crystal Reports Server XI and Midtier version 7.1

2008-07-24 Thread Steven Iocco

ok, so I installed ARWebReportViewer on the machine, using the 'other' and
'other' options for the web server and JSP engine. It installed under
C:\Program Files\AR System\ARWebReportViewer. How do I fetch the
configreport.jsp page without the http server? Sorry, I am pretty new to the
web world and need to pull up
http://ARWebReportHost/arreports/shared/config/configreport.jsp page to
configure the viewer. How would I add this in Tomcat as you explained below?
I notice that the install file installed 2 JAR files called
tomcat-util_5.5.17.jar and tomcat-util_5.5.23.jar. Are these used somehow?

Writing custom Crystal Reports in Remedy

Hello ARSList

Does anyone know of a document which outlines the best practices for writing
crystal reports against a remedy database? I am very familiar with writing
reports in crystal for remedy and simply looking for something in writing
outlining the ODBC driver to use, the use of subreports, etc etc.

Re: Question: Active Link - Checking Table - ITSM 7

2008-05-30 Thread Steven Iocco

What Ben mentioned is a good option. You could also run a guide looping on the
'z2TH Associations' table to give you a $LASTCOUNT$ number and as mentioned
below, build your workflow on that result.

Active Link - Checking Table - ITSM 7To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Off the top of my head, I think that you do a direct sql that would return the
same results that the table would and then do a set field command using the
value of lastcount. I think that would give you a number and you can build
workflow to check if the value is greater than 0.

much luck.I have tried to check for the table NOT being NULL and I have
checkfor a column NOT being NULL, both do not work.I'm looking to see if the

is the table name)I also tried:'z2TF AssociationType' != $NULL$(this is a
column name)Both of these do not work. However, if I remove this qualification
my workflow works.Any ideas why I can't check to see if there are any rows in
