Re: AlarmPoint 4 integration with ARS 7.5 / ITSM 76
That did work... I got it installed and what passes for a management interface came up like it was supposed to. Next I'll try to load the integration they have to Service Desk 7.6; the integration to Change Management 7.6 is still in the works. I'll bet those installers don't want to run, either. This is the first time I have tried out the compatibility mode on Server 2008 R2; I never needed it on either of the Windows 7 machines that I have worked with. According to Alarmpoint, we won't be able to do this until 2011 because their lame Java Client, that has to be installed directly on the AR Server, won't support higher than Server 2003 until then. What have they been doing for the last 7 years, I wonder? All of the BMC 7.5/7.6 software appears to be running just fine on Win2K8R2x64 for several months now, but if I want to tie it in to Alarmpoint I will have to move the entire AR Server and apps back to Server 2003. The only other option is some sort of a hack performed by their professional services (for a price) that passes scripts from the AR Server to a separate Alarmpoint Java Client (on a supported OS) which is probably fraught with reliability problems. I’m curious if anyone has successfully integrated Alarmpoint to ARS 7.5/ITSM 7.6 on UNIX installations. Re: AlarmPoint 4 integration with ARS 7.5 / ITSM 76
Lis... You can bypass some of the AlarmPoint java issue by interacting with AlarmPoint using their web services... http://:8080/api/services/AlarmPointWebService?wsdl This will allow you to put things/events/incidents/people/groups into the AlarmPoint server, but won't allow AlarmPoint to annotate your work logs as AP expects to talk to their Java client. However, the Ap Java client's interaction with Remedy is through Remedy's own web services, which means you could put it on a separate little box for a few months until they catch up. Actually, I think that compatibility mode trick might be worth checking out first :-) Doug On Feb 4, 2010, at 1:28 PM, strauss wrote: > > Has anyone successfully integrated Alarmpoint to ITSM 76 in a Windows 2008 R2 > x64 environment? Re: AlarmPoint 4 integration with ARS 7.5 / ITSM 76
Maybe - good thought! I am playing with that right now to install the 7.1.00.008 Admin Tool on the 7.5 mid-tier server (also Win2K8R2x64) because it is a required app to install the Kinetic Request web and application. That worked (just now) by selecting Windows XP Sp2 compatibility for the admin.exe installer. It runs, and connects to the 7.5.00.003 AR Server; now to see if it will import the Kinetic application. I will try the same technique with the Alarmpoint Java Client next.
