[AsburyPark] The Law,....

2008-11-20 Thread oakdorf
1) E-harmony sued so they HAVE to promote Gay match/date making.

How does this impact other sites and/or businesses?

2. In court today with my kid. forgot to get her provisonal lic
switched over to 18 year old..

They cut out to Freehold closed circuit to talk to prisoners. This
one was in jail for NOT paying her pervious fine of about $500...

a) SHE recevied a CREDIT of $50/day for BEING IN jail . She got 8
days at $50/day = $400 CREDITED to her fine.

Forget that fact that it costs the taxpayers to house the immate, let
alone give them CREDIT for being IN jail. Wasn't there some point
where the immate was to reimburse for the costs of the hotel?

The system.

Why send people back for immigration when many (not all cases in WLB)
were here for having no registration, insurance, nj licensce etc
etc . and were paying their fines and rushing back to WORK.

People should really not bitch about being an American and having all
the rights they do here. One guy in there did a flooring job for me.
Good guy, works hard and I knew it took him twice to get to America
because he WANTED to work. Everyone chuckled at his kansas driver's
license...

So businesses are not allowed to offer services to niche markets anymore?

Jdate is a Jewish dating service. Should the government sue them for
being discriminatory like they did eHarmony?

eHarmony also got sued by a guy who complained that eHarmony would not

Well - I'm off to the vegan restaurant to insist they cook me a

[AsburyPark] Re: The Law,....

2008-11-20 Thread justifiedright
Actually, the reason eHarmony attorney Ted Olson gave for the
settlement was the uncertainty of outcomes when you go to trial or
words to that affect.

That's being forced.

It's like putting a gun to someone's head to sign a contract, and
after he signs, it, saying Well I he chose to do it rather than
getting shot, so he settled. We didn't force him. He could have
chosen to get shot.

GayPatriot agrees with me:

http://www.gaypatriot.net/2008/11/20/eharmony-forced-to-provide-same-sex-dating-services/

By the way:

California just certified a Class Action Lawsuit by gays in that state
against eHarmony.

Since eHarmony is already providing the new service, that suit is
going to be about money.

eHarmony wouldn't find them boyfriends, so they should get paid money.

Good grief.

John what are your thoughts on that other Asbury Park internet group
know as The List.

You have to declare yourself to be a homosexual to join.

Is that unfairly discriminatory?

Or is it protected by the 1st amendment Freedom of Association clause?

Anyone else care to opine on that?

(Actually makes the whole topic AP related:-) )

I think the whole discussion highlights the complexities of labeling.
Personally, I think it's sad that labels like gay and lesbian cause so much
tension for
people.
Honestly, we're all pretty much the same, until those few minutes (or hours if
your lucky)
per week when we are having sex.
Other then that, people of all persusions walk their dogs, have dinner, watch
TV, have
meaningful discussions, do creative things and on and on.
Hopefully someday we'll all rise above labels, and that includes Conservative
and
Liberal
If you look hard enough without prejudice, there's something to be learned, and
appreciated everywhere...

That's the part that is awful.

At play here is a less often spoken of part of the 1st Amendment (but
no less important): Freedom of Association.

Should the Pride Parade be forced by the Government to let NAMBLA
   march?

Should we force the Kwanzaa ceremony to open itself up to people of
European descent (the services and celebrations are; taking part in
   the ceremony is forbidden)?

Nazi's can march in Skokie in their own parade, but should the
government force Jews to allow Nazi's to march in their parade?

Should a vegan restaurant, open to the public, be forced to serve food
   I desire more than vegan?

When private people want to get together with like minded people
   privately, the government shouldn't interfere.

Sometimes the bigger picture gets lost when we start rooting for a
   sympathetic underdog.

Also lost here is eHarmony spent much time and money doing research on
the compatibility of men and women. They made themselves knowledgable
   in the field.

They haven't studied male/male compatibility (while I'm sure some of
it transfers, aren't there also some unique issues?).

Yes! Didn't you take the trip to Trenton to see his new Arena going

Everything he built was golden! Trenton still has the same mayor!

I don't think I did, Not needed, I had already seen all of Mr. Bermans
projects privately with him while getting him interested in Asbury Park.

  DUH-

Before Fishman (BF) I brought Ron Berman the owner of Ron Berman
Development and the owner of a NJ Ice Hockey Team to Asbury Park for
  an inspection of the Casino.

Along came his Planner/Engineer who declared that the building could
definitely be saved and restored. The plan was to make it the home
  base for the Hockey team.

Ice skating on the Oceanfront...Fancy that.

Well After Fishman (AF) it was declared tha the Casino was beyond
salvation..This, by exactly the same Planner/Engineer that a Year
earlier had said it could be saved.

Had Ron Berman been part of the team the Casino would today be a
  major attraction.

Oh God, please tell me you didn't ask for a cheeseburger in a vegan
restaurant! I worked in one for 6 years, I'd hate to think about how a
guy I cherish so much was mocked in the kitchen. It was really hard to
be a gracious server whenever someone thought they were being original
and funny with that old line.

This whole debate simply circles around something we all hate to
admit... American narcissism gone nuclear. MOI MOI MOI MOI MOI MOI!
MY RIGHTS! MY RIGHTS! MY RIGHTS!

Meanwhile children are sold into sex slavery, people work for 50 cents
(or less) a day..yadda yadda yadda. and we are pissing people off and
boring them for not posting about AP.

False claims of prejudice is just as sharp of a weapon, not to mention
that it obscures issues.

It's not always about you, Tommy.
Neil Warren is the founder of eharmony, and I quoted his words from an
interview which provides some perspective to the settlement.
Not to play Whack-a-Mole with you in a hornet's nest of baiting and charges
about sappiness, recklessness, prejudice, false claims, obscuring issues, and
just how awful this (non AP) news story is.

Moving on.

Mario your quote from him was from 2005.

Mine was from him today, about why he settled the lawsuit - which was
because he feared a trial.

Yet somehow, you still assert what he said in 2005 is why he settled
the suit, not what he said today.

You are right, it's not about me. It's about you.

You want to argue for argument's sake. Then say I'm moving on.

Now you can move on.
