Re: [ATrpms-devel] Bug in drbd 8.4.3-33 ?
Hi, The error snippet you sent is not from the packages, but from a self built module (GIT-hash: 89a294209144b68adb3ee85a73221f964d3ee515 build by motih@CentOS-devel, 2013-06-19 20:36:06). Are you sure the packaged rpms behave the same? In any case, if upstream decided to perform this change, there must be a reason to do so. [ATrpms-devel] Latest mythtv rpms w/o nvidia build dependencies
Hi, the situation as it once was required nvidia libraries to be present to have mythtv activate some of its feature support. The generic or wrapping libs for several of these features are enough to make mythtv build everything we need. At run time the system will use whatever exists. So we are not losing anything by removing the dependencies to the nvidia libs at build time. So the dependencies have been removed and the latest builds are done in an nvidia free build environment. The result is that all features are still there are and working as if built against a sane set of nvidia libs. -- Axel.Thimm at ATrpms.net ___ atrpms-devel mailing list atrpms-devel@atrpms.net http://lists.atrpms.net/mailman/listinfo/atrpms-devel

It looks as if 'our' target environments weren't being recognised as el6. Mine was Scientific Linux, or perhaps CentOS. Would be nice to fix it for future use, but not immediately critical if the 'official' builds are ok. /etc/redhat-release contains Scientific Linux release 6.4 (Carbon) (without quotes), so it's not recognised in the first few lines of macros.atrpms and gets the Fedora 18 default? You are right, the distro is considered unknown (so clones are not 100% clones) and gets the default setting (which is not f18, just the default, which on the other hand is always the latest convention, so effectively the latest Fedora release). You can do two things: a) fast and lazy: pass dist to the build like so: rpmbuild ... --define 'dist el6' ... (actually this is the way ATrpms does it - especialy since the minimal chroots don't even contain /etc/redhat-release to have something to recognize the dist with) b) extend the %distinitials macro to include more RHEL clones. We would need a strings to grep for in some /etc/*release|issue file as well as the versioning of the matching package (e.g. rpm -qf /etc/redhat-release) -- Axel.Thimm at ATrpms.net ___ atrpms-devel mailing list atrpms-devel@atrpms.net http://lists.atrpms.net/mailman/listinfo/atrpms-devel

I guess soon we'll officially start building against f19. Features are 100% and the beta is just a few days ahead. actually I felt bit challenged to setup f19 support and just did so. An interesting new feature of rpm in f19 is that it checks changelog dates and spits out warnings if the day of the week doesn't match the given date! :) Other than that some test builds of ffmpeg for example seem to work well. I'll let the builders running, and we'll see what will come out of them. The usual fast bootstrap procedure with new Fedora releases is to allow building against the previous release, e.g. in this case offer the ATrpms packages from f18, so that in theory one pass will do everything. Then to make sure all is self-sustained the builds are redone w/o the f18 repo present. So at the end the packages are build only against f19 bits. [ATrpms-devel] ATrpms downtime
Dear all, there is some unexpected downtime at ATrpms' resources including all hosted projects. It looks like an external attacker was exploiting a git vulnerabilty that leads to a DoS. A similar issue apparently happened last month to github itself. Unfortunately there is no remote management possibilty and I have to always ask hands on site to fix the issue (many thanks to Jens Dreger both for providing the hosting and for helping with such issues!). Until we find a solution we cannot open the web/git services ATM as the system will go down within a couple of hours again. A cleaner solution would be to virtualize the services, and be able to manage them from the host. Also we apparently need something like cgroups to contain services or at the very least reserve resources for ssh access. I'll try my best to restore services as soon as possible w/o endangering another full downtime. Any disussion on this topic should please happen on atrpms-devel. I this the snapshot that ATrpms was shipping, or the real thing? Is 0.6.3 from ATrpms. I am kind of lost here. Why do we have 3 versions in the repo? Because different parts of ATrpms were built against different versions. For example there was this issue with libavcore where you provided an old lib for someone on RHEL something. The old (compatibility) libs need to get phased out, of course, but this need to done at a safe pace. I also like to keep a couple of old versions around for users to be able to downgrade to a previous version in case they encounter an issue. This makes debugging easier. Note that 0.6.3 and 0.7rc1 at ATrpms were built simultaneously, and therefore 0.6.3 have never been actually used in any build. If I compile audacious myself with 0.6.3 installed, it works. If I download it from ATrpms or build it with mock, I get the reported error (mock should pick 0.7, right?). Yes, I wonder why you did get 0.6.3 at all. As said the two packages came simultaneously, so any build should by default only see 0.7rc1. I built 0.6.3 as a possible fallback in case 0.7rc1 messes things up, but things look OK. Why am I not using 0.7? Because as soon as I installed it, mplayer, which I used for watching analog TV, started to freeze my computer. Maybe it was just a coincidence, because I live near the ocean, and my computer was completed corroded by humidity and salt. It must have been a coincidence, because mplayer is not using the external ffmpeg, it uses a bundled one. Anyway, I ended up replacing my mobo, processor, and video card, and the computer is stable again, but I am still using 0.6.3, just for safety ... Does the libavformat error mean anything to you? You mean the missing symbol? I can't find the commands now, but perhaps Axel can repost the commands. I think this is what finally fixed the nouveau v nvidia issue for me. I'm still not convinced, as every user out there should be falling in the same trap and we would have tons of reports, not only on ATrpms, or Fedora, but generally for nvidia closed source driver users on distributions with nouveau and kernel mode switching (which should probably be every current distribution out there). Axel, any thoughts on this? The safest way is to pick the latest running kernel and query rpm itself how it was done, as the mkinitrd or equivalents are masked behind wrappers. For example the latest F14 kernel says: $ rpm -q --scripts kernel-2.6.35.12-90.fc14.x86_64 postinstall scriptlet (using /bin/sh): if [ `uname -i` == x86_64 -o `uname -i` == i386 ] [ -f /etc/sysconfig/kernel ]; then /bin/sed -r -i -e 's/^DEFAULTKERNEL=kernel-smp$/DEFAULTKERNEL=kernel/' /etc/sysconfig/kernel || exit $? fi /sbin/new-kernel-pkg --package kernel --install 2.6.35.12-90.fc14.x86_64 || exit $? preuninstall scriptlet (using /bin/sh): /sbin/new-kernel-pkg --rminitrd --rmmoddep --remove 2.6.35.12-90.fc14.x86_64 || exit $? posttrans scriptlet (using /bin/sh): /sbin/new-kernel-pkg --package kernel --mkinitrd --dracut --depmod --update 2.6.35.12-90.fc14.x86_64 || exit $? /sbin/new-kernel-pkg --package kernel --rpmposttrans 2.6.35.12-90.fc14.x86_64 || exit $? The interesting bits are the second to the last line in this case. But beware, the scripts' layout can change (they have in the past and will do so in the future), if you - dear reader in the year 2525 running Fedora 10^3 - are reading this use rpm -q --scripts to check on how the initramfs is set up in your time frame. ;) -- http://thimm.gr/ - http://ATrpms.net/ signature.asc Description: This is a digitally signed message part ___ atrpms-devel mailing list atrpms-devel@atrpms.net http://lists.atrpms.net/mailman/listinfo/atrpms-devel
Re: [ATrpms-devel] Any chance for nvidia.270 RPM?
I'm building 270.30 and placing it in bleeding (since it's beta). any luck with these RPM's? I don't see them in atrpms-bleeding. Sorry they had been built, but I had forgotten to push them into bleeding. Should be available since a week or so. Actually I just upgraded vlc because I was working on the directfb fiasco anyway, otherwise I'm usually waiting for your upgrades.
