The App Store guidelines prohibit trials or demo versions. Now Apple has subscriptions, which could theoretically work as trials for content delivered regularly and possibly cloud services as well, but there are no apps which, officially at least, accept money for upgrades to full versions. And since the only way you can take money is through the store, again officially, there is no way to unlock full functionality or content, except by some out-of-band means like a website. So I have no idea what TapTapSee was doing, but it was the exception and against the rules. Of course, it's Apple's store and they could implement whatever they want, and perhaps they did in this case.

Hi,as far as I can see since i'm playing around with this stuff the client already supports plugins / extensions which you can just drop in and they will do their job. That enables you to just create a repository of some sort on GitHub or somewhere else, develop your plugin, pack it down into a jar file and drop it into the XMage plugins folder. And if you think your plugin needs some more advanced API functions, you could contribute to XMage itself providing this function. I don't think that the XMage developers will reject more advanced API functionalities, since those will help other plugins too in the future.That's how the whole extension/plugin system is intended to work in most cases and this should be applicable here too.Best Regards.Hijacker

first, I'm dying of laughter after reading jimmy's post, and the response to it. second, there's pretty much no way you can stop /team uncle susi. some server owners tried banning, but eventually, it becomes tedious. you could try banning, but... wish there was a kick command, really. as for pissing off people, I only use it if you use it on me first, and only to teach you a lesson. honestly, /team uncle susi will work regardless of whether cheats are enabled or not. the best thing I can suggest is to put the server in team mode. for 2 reasons: 1) every time you type in the susi command, you will lose your team, 2) no team servers are currently alive.  or just enable cheats, to make it fair, since then everyone will see if you type in the susi command. hope this helps, somewhat.

Obviously a bugfix is the only real long-term solution.But, if it were me, I should try to outsmart the bastards in the meanwhile. You're on Linux, so you have iptables. You could log network packets that contain a particular payload, like the one that engages the cheat, perhaps containing "uncle susi". There's a good chance it'll work, since most traffic generated by audio-games is completely unprotected. Now you can use your logs to find the IP addresses of the offenders, which you can then automatically filter, again with iptables. You could contact us with the IP addresses, so we can identify forum posters. And you can use your server log to identify usernames, which you can then ban.If, after all that, the fear of God hasn't been put into them, nothing else will work.

On the contrary they make juicy targets, and also add the extra latency penalty if you aren't in ea

Moreover, almost without exception, the operator becomes disillusioned pretty quickly with all the sleaze-bags who slam the server, and it then becomes a matter of when, not if, the game will become paid. Of course, that's no bad thing, but it does speak to compromise. On the upside, your central server generally doesn't require all this NAT-traversing nonsense to work.

@Spiraling... yeah, I played through hard mode again putting everything into attack and defence. Then very hard doing the same, and the slimes still overwhelmed me in 15-4. Then I tried it again with the spirit sword, which didn't work last time, but this time it slaughtered them. Also, you mentioned earlier a reverse hook? I haven't seen that anywhere. How do I get it.

@the player, it depends what you're looking for. Some stuff doesn't show up until you've past a certain mode. Anything with clear metal refers to the mode you have to pass to get it. I spent ages trying to find the clear metal super wolf lol. Some stuff you can get by finding the secret landing on 18-3, changing the dial to 4, then going back to 18-2, finding the secret landing, and waiting for all the stuff to fall. I think changing the dial changes what falls, but I don't know which numbers do what. Also I think the sound the objects make as they fall changes from a thud to a bloop when nothing new is going to fall.

If you just run around picking everything up, you'll have to check your collection items, and that's a friggin nightmare.

There is already a thread called Linux Assistant Centre, I believe.When I signed up with http://www.vps.net/ One of the options under select your OS was cPanel, so I thought it was just another operating system. Under the other options, we had Ubuntu, SentOS, and Windows. There was no Debian anywhere.Since I use Windows Server 2008, I was informed that I could use Remote Desktop Connections to control the operating system just as if I were controlling my machine. I wouldn't have to use any FTP clients as long as I had a good connection to transfer files from my main machine to the server.I had also launched two other VPS-related threads about two or three weeks ago. Feel free to comment on those. I am totally new at this, so I am not fully familiar with the techno lingo used to communicate complex ideas.

@Jack, I  actually recall a discussion at the time about the license situation, given that Che did limit the number of activated license  for each key (I think it was five), but had to activate them via the online server. Still this is another reason why I hope we hear from Che and this project again since it'd be great to see Rail racer back, indeed in the climate we have now of online competition, achievements and such being much more regular parts of gaming I think it might do better now than it did back in the day.

Well talking purely in terms of audiogames, it seems developers either A, base their prices on what graphical and other types of indi games are sold for, B, look at audiogames and base their prices on what audiogames are sold for and what the community think, or C, make up an arbitrary and  higher than normal price since it is assumed that as an "accessible" game they can charge what they bloody well like, *ccough azabat *cough  . As for  the lack of hole numbers rule though, as I said it's almost these days become expected that instead of charging three pounds someone will charge two pounds ninety nine, it's so  prevalent now that people do it without thinking, retailers from single person games developer outfits to the worlds few mega corporate masters, even though every customer with an ounce of brains also knows to always roun
 d up. Myself I actually respect developers or indeed any retailer who just says "twenty five dollars" rather than prevaricating.

@Cae,  Hopefully your tree isn't the one from the Bible with the apples that give you mysterious knolidge, since making pies of those could be interesting,  hay maybe that is why the world is such a  hash and good and evil are so mixed up .@Slender, I'm slightly jealous of the water park. Unfortunately in Britain very few people have a private pool (indeed over here it would be seen as a sign of extreme wealth), and the closest public swimming baths to us is not easy to get to. I don't know if this will change when we move but we'll see. Well my review of Belgarath the sorcerer is up and can be read here I've sent off one for STardust and also need to put one together for sundiver by david brin which is another book in his uplift unive
 rse (the one with the sentient chimps and dolphins). Sundiver  is a prequel to the series proper and was good, but no where near as good as the other two uplift books I've read, so putting together a review will be interesting. Right now Mrs. Dark and I are reading the Time traveller's wife together, which is proving fun (I particularly like the paradoxes), and I'm reading T H White's once and future king, his retelling of the story of King Arthur. I read it back when I was eleven but really wanted to get into it  since I suspect I missed a lot,  and yee gods I really did! a very awesome book thus far, albeit I haven't finished the sword in the stone as yet and I know the book gets considerably grimmer as it goes on. As people will gather I've also been playing a lot of our great adventure 3, aka Bokerano Daibuken. I would like to put together an English Db page for it, though whether it is a side scroller or an rpg I
  don't know, since it certainly has the rpg stats and story, but the gameplay is definitely action style like other side scrolling games. If we had an "action/rpg" category I'd use that, but other than Adventure at C: I can't think of other games that would fall into that category so it'll have  be either an rpg or side scroller, actually this is one occasion I rather wish the db would let us give two genre catagorizations instead of one, but ah well. Tomorrow we're meeting a friend of ours for a bbq which should be fantastic, so we're having a miner day off today which is nice.

Once a box is selected by dragging, double-tap anywhere means double-tap that box. Ditto the corners; once swiped or tapped, now double-tap anywhere activates them. Otherwise you've got to carefully double-tap in the exact same spot you found them, which I find to be quite hit-and-miss.

I believe it's attack 24 defense 23 and 270 hp. with the longsword  the desks are taking lots of hits, I'm doing 27 damage per hit to them, which is okay when there's one of them, but not when there are more, and they're doing about 50 damage a whack which can kill me in seconds when there at elots of desks and slimes together.Still I'm about to level up to 13 and will bang everything into attack and defense this time around to give me a bit more edge.

I'm afraid I don't agree with  simon soundpacks in bomb disarmer. It's supposed to be a different game with a different atmosphere and something of a story behind it, and it would be just plane wrong to have say drumbs or animal sounds or whatever on a dangerous bomb, plus then there would be little difference in the two games. Myself, I would suggest as I said above making the bombs use something like spoken numbers or letters or something else in words to distinguish them and make the game less like Simon.

Ah, I see.Yeah, the problem is that if you charge something at $x.99, most people who pay by card will pay that exact amount, while people paying by cash would round up to the nearest 5, 10, 20, 50, or 100 and get some change back.

Just remember that most enemies, especially if you are up close, have attacks which give pretty audible cues. Once you past 2-2, you will be able to use armour which will help you out quite a bit. Even the desks have attacks that you can hear coming, at least when they fire projectiles at you. Jump often. That's the best advice I can give... but jump when you know you won't be attacked as soon as you land.

hi Caccio,It seems like you and I have a lot in common,  not only in the taste of audio games but our age and we both started life with sight.I have got RP and at this moment I can  only determine light and dark.people who have been blind from birth in my experience don't suffer as much with the psychological effects, like in my case manic depression.Also I have found people who are born blind have much more fulfilled lives, what I mean by this is, they are much more independent, have full time jobs etc.I am now 44 years old and cannot even make it to the local shops on my own even though its only 100 yards away,  I can't have mobility training at the moment because my anxiety levels will not permit it..people who I talk to smile when I refer back to my sighted life like I have been born twice, but it seems  likre its 2 different life spans.I was 32 by the time I needed a screen reader, and the sight lo
 ss was gradual, on the plus side I nanaged to see my 2 sons being born and could drive and managed to see a bit of the world, but in some respects I wish I was just born blind because I would have been a much happier person and may not have contracted mental illness.please try not to dwell on it to much mate or you could end up with far more problems than just blindness, I always used to think why me but there are far more worse people of than us, that's the only crumb of hope I can give you to cling onto.

Generally with the desks it seems fine when  there is one or two and I have enough space to move out of the way,  three or four together, especially with slimes to back them up can do for me in seconds one reason I need more  defense and attack I think.

I'm curious though, as if you make consistent use of jumping, they shouldn't give you that much trouble. Don't just run away or move out of attack range. Remember they can also hit each other, and you can use that to your advantage.

for me it makes no difference how much they charge,   my priority is the quality of the game.I will just give you an IOS example.I rarely buy a game unless there is a trial version I can try or I have researched it thoroughly.King of dragon pass for example was £10 with no trial to see if it was a game I would be interested in,  so I proceeded to investigate the reviews and was eventually swayed to take the plunge.now I must confess, if there was a trial version of kodp I most certainly would never have bought it,  however because I handed over the equivalent of a nice bottle of wine I made myself play it and over time grow to love it.the plus side to trial games are expertly described in the whole of the blindfold series,  the 10 coin gift you get at the start is superb, as by coin 2 I have realised its not for me then delete the ap, but for completely the opposite reason I never liked kodp.kodp was the fact I could not understand it that well, the blindfold series was how simplistic everything is and there was as much depth to the games as a shallow puddle.

RTR already logs the IP, so he can just ban it. the issue is, we just have a nickname on RTR. so say, my user ID over here is braille0109. on RTR, I may go by stranger. the user ID could be entirely different from the actual nickname, not to mention that some may not be registered. I agree, though, the best would be is a fix, but, as the game is no longer maintained, I can't see that happening any time soon.

Hi guys,so, recently, I bought some audioplays from Audible. Unfortunately though, some of them were only in mono. I am a bit disappointed, since I know for a fact, that they weren't produced in mono. I called the Support of Audible. But the guy on the phone didn't really Sound like he would believe me. I am planning to call them again. But my question is now, have you encountered something similar? The Plays in question are:Doctor Who - the hornets's nest 1Doctor who - Paradise of deathDoctor who - The ghosts of N-Space.Maybe someone here even has them, and can confirm, that they are in Stereo...

Hello everyone,July has been good for me. Here in India, the central government rolled out the goods and services tax (GST) on July 1, and it remains to be seen how much of an impact it will have on the common man in the months to come.In other news, I started to watch tennis matches lately and have watched yesterday's Wimbledon mens' singles final and the women' singles final the day before. Although I could not watch the womens' final from the beginning, both the matches were quite interesting. And that record breaking 8th wimbledon win by Rodger Federer is fantastic. Gaming wise, I've been playing on the RS Games server and a lot of alter aeon. I've been playing with a bunch of friends every morning here in India (at night if you consider the Us timezones) on the RS Games server for the past few days and I hope to continue playing 
 with them.I am soon going to join my M.B.A classes on 26 July at Narasaraopet Engineering College and I am eagerly waiting for that, since I love going to  college every day to study and to chat with friends.

Forum mods can perform lookups by IP, so we could at least correlate. It might not be perfect though, agreed. But that still allows the server op to filter packets from the IP, and ban whatever player has that IP.How do you send remote commands to the server. Do you need the game client just to do that too? If so, it might be a little bit of a problem.

Hi all.Thanks a lot for all your comments.I have decided to close the server for the following reasons:1. Some people don't take siturations like this serious.2. I can only ban IP addresses which don't stop people.3. I can't do anything about the cheat, when it's that easy to cheat because of a bug.4. I don't have the experteese to log the network trafic and ban people in this way. I just have no clue on how that works or how that's done.5. Ghorthalon is working on a new game and will properly not care about this old game anymore.I'm glad to hear that a few people at leased enjoyed the server. It's sad to see yet again, that people who don't grow up destroys something which other people are enjoying. That's what people choose to do, and I can't do anything about it. So, to all of you who liked the server, I'm sorry, but I can't control what people are doing. I wrote in 
 the message of the day on the server that cheating wasn't allowed. People enjoyed to mess it up anyway, so there you have the result of this.I might host the new game Ghorthalon is working on, if there is no cheat or a better way to ban people. We'll see what happens in the future. I've moved on to other projects, where people aren't able to cheat.

Yes, you need the client to send remote commands to the server. You just need to know the command and the admin password. That's all. No security involved.

@post 1903, yeah, i'm trying to get the omega shooter, but it's a bitch because crafting it needs a boatload of mini shooters, and getting them is sorta slow because I think the only way to get them is to play the levels in stage 16 over and over to kill the small robots and then kill them

@player... not sure where you get those things to be honest. Haven't done a lot of crafting. At the moment I'm happy with the spirit sword and a super yoyo for long range. Hoping to replace the yoyo with a water master when I beat super wolf mode, and an ultra yoyo probably after beating extreme, though not sure when the chaos flare shows up.

I'd also add on the subject of prioritizing points, having a powerful attack is a form of defence. I myself put almost everything into attack early on with a little in defence. I only started to build up tech and stamina as those things became necessary. But it's tricky. After getting the spirit sword, I started prioritizing HP and stamina, but my neglect of attack and defence caught up with me in the end.

I've come So Close to pulling off a good berserker warrior!  I even had myself up to a maximum of 44 health, but I died just before reaching the next settlement where I could heal and switch back to normal mode.  Eventually I'll pull it off, and then I'm sure I can travel very far with all that extra health.This game is a lot of chanting at the computer screen "roll a 5, roll a 5", then you roll a 2.  Ok, my health is at 7 now.. "roll a 3, roll a 3", but you roll a 1.  Health is at 3.  Ok, I can do this... "roll a 2, roll a 2".  I roll another 1, and I die.  ROFL!

Hi,I encountered that problem earlier and Audible should already know this problem. Since Audible only selled audiobooks for a very long time, they seem to mess up with the release profiles sometimes, converting a radioplay with the profile of an audiobook which results in a mono radioplay. Anyway, I always wrote an email to them, telling them the specified title and when I bought it, and that it's a radioplay which usually is in stereo, but only is in mono on their site, which they should look into. I never called them though, they always answered that they forwarded that to the required location and one or two days later (sometimes faster, sometimes slower) the radioplay was in stereo. Keep in mind that you'll have to re-download the audiobook from their site from time to time to check it out, and that the file size doesn't actually has to be different, due to the usage of their encoding/encryption algorithm.Best Regards.Hijacker

It's cool the game is now hosted, though imho I'd still love to see both this and 7 shores developed a bit further as this is a lovely concept for a game and there are so many more things that could be added. In particular I'd love to see the warrior's rage bug fixed so warriors actually have a chance, and maybe also an attack idea put in so settlements occasionally get destroyed and new players have the chance to rebuild them.

yeah, RTR's banning is super cheap. This is probably something I should have paid more attention to, but at the time it wasn't such a big deal.Honestly though, people can still play on personal servers. I don't know if it's right, but I feel my time is better spent working on a newer, better game where this thing is less likely to happen. RTR was my first FPS, and even my first multiplayer project ever. I've learned a lot and I think it came quite far, but those things were bound to happen eventually. I was too good hearted. Haha.

Sorry to jump in to this topic but I was wondering for the purposes of the db where the game is currently? Is the free version not being updated further? And if someone buys the game from Itch.io how do updates work in that case? Eg, do they download an update file? Does the game update itself?I ask about Itch.io since that's probably a better alternative access wise to steam, since Stema isn't really screen reader friendly and while it's workable it's not truly accessible, another reason why i'd personally rather not support the thing financially if I can help it though I am definitely interested in buying the game quite aside from updates to the db entry.

Yes this sometimes happens. It's 64 Kbps AAC, which IMO is only just adequate for an audio play. However stereo files should be available for plays Audible knows about, including their own dramas.As for the titles in question: tell me about it! Ghosts and Paradise are stereo and they're mono on Audible. Bloody annoying! Hopefully, if you tell them, they'll upgrade it. Then I can get stereo files and that would for sure make me very happy.

Actually shrike with the learn sounds menu all packs are the same. When you hit any of the action keys you get the sound you need to respond to, not the sound when you hit the key, so you should have no problem learning the sounds you need to respond to. There arent' I believe any packs that use the smackme sounds, but there are several boppit packs kicking around you might want to try that use similar instructions. So for example in the default pack, if you go to "learn sounds" and hit tab it'll say "pinch me" if you hit backspace it'll say "smack me" etc.I personally found the sounds in the face the music pack too unpleasant to listen to, but I like the for your relax series, and Aaron did a great job with the guardians of the galaxy pack, I also enjoyed some of  packs related to games like Mario or streets of rage and of course as a die hard whovian the dr. who pack was fun. Generally I don'
 t like those packs where the sounds you need to respond to and the sounds where you hit keys are both so long they obscure the sounds you need to listen out for, since losing just because you couldn't hear a sound is a little disappointing imho.

It sounds like CPanel was just a choice for an OS preconfigured to be administered using a web browser, irrespective of what it ran. Windows is always the exception: it uses RDP (Remote Desktop Protocol) and you do your work in a GUI. The only other server, which has ssh but still ultimately needs a GUI, is macOS Server.I'll look into those threads when I can.

Yeah, my thinking was a simple loop, just run it from cron or something: parse a log of IPs using the cheat, and invoke a program to ban. Obviously, if you need the client, you can't do it that way. You'd have to do it in the firewall (iptables) which would be less subtle but just as effective.And I've give a lot to watch a game in which a player's connection suddenly hangs mid-cheat because they used a naughty command.

I will admit Dark, these little games can be surprisingly addicting.  I especially enjoy being able to hop on a phone and play them from anywhere.I just did a pretty good run with a berserker mode warrior.  I had 48 maximum health before I finally had a run of terrible luck and couldn't land on anyone's settlements to heal or switch back.  I really do think there is huge potential in this, so I'm going to keep trying.  If I had been able to hit a settlement before dying, imagine moving forward from space 160 with a full 48 health and the warrior's usual armor.  Sheesh I'd be in fantastic shape.It's definitely a very high risk, but high reward way to play the warrior.

Don't use Wine-x11 directly. Use WineSkin instead, and build a "wrapper" for every single executable program you'll ever use. It'll save you an awful lot of misery.You don't need winecfg.   Oh, and it's generally useful to use the debug logs to find out what DLL has gone missing, in case you were wondering; the GUI dialogs are inaccessible with VoiceOver.
