Re: [SlimDevices: Audiophiles] Lossless Downloads
Just placed another order at cdbaby.com - they got some nice solo piano pieces, and send them an email if they're planning to offer lossless downloads. They replied enthusiastically that they just started to offer non DRM-ed downloads... which of course happened to be MP3. I wrote back explaining why would I appreciate FLAC. :) Anyways, they got some really good music, and now they have an infrastructure for downloads. I was thinking if they receive some more request for FLAC from the fellow audiophiles, it might help to accelerate the required development... The wav file doesn't play, but the flac file encoded from that wav does (on my SB2)! They both show as 24bit in Foobar, flac=1474kbps, wav=2116kbps. They both play in foobar. Weird! btw, Foobar shows the wma as 44.1khz/16bit!!/1462kbps. I can transcode to flac from foobar but then my flac is 16bit, and half the size as the wma. Works straigth away for me. Just downloaded the all the WMA files for that album, rescanned slimserver music lbryary and then they all played fine. Foobar also views 88 kHz/24 bit has as 44.1 kHz/ 16 bit. -- johann johann's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10177 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=31616 ___ audiophiles mailing list audiophiles@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles

It sounds like these files are not really 88.2 khz. What is the size of the WAV file in bytes, and how long is the track in seconds? -- seanadams seanadams's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=31616 ___ audiophiles mailing list audiophiles@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles

When you use the wma - wav decode (wmadec) it will be 16 bits, not 24. Which is why I used truckfighters method, using wmal2pcm.exe, then wav - flac... -- jmourik jmourik's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=7123 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=31616 ___ audiophiles mailing list audiophiles@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
