[Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Re: Error: Key Already Exists

2004-12-03 Thread lourens1210

Hi Dick

We are experiencing the same problem at intervals. I have checked on
the Project journals, GL Journals, AR Journals but cannot see the
Renumber Lines option anywhere. Does it only appear when there is a
problem, is it necessary to activate the option or what is the story
behind it? At the moment we are solving the problem in a test
environment by recompiling the database. This will get us killed or
at least seriously injured in the real world!!

So it is no good idea to

In general it should be

[Axapta-Knowledge-Village] add field to table

2004-12-03 Thread RHODPR

Hi guys,

how can i add a brand new field to the inventory table?

what I did so far :
-) add a field to the table via AOT -- Data Dictionary -- Tables --
 InventTable -- Fields : rightclick : new -- string.
-) add the field to the form via AOT -- Forms -- InventTable --
Designs -- Design -- [Tab:Tab] -- [TabPage:General] --
[Group:Column1] -- [Group:Identification] : rightclick : new
control -- stringEdit.

No problems so far : the new stringeditbox has the same properties
as StringEdit:ctrlItemId.
Problem is that this field is not shown on the inventory table, and
I can't add it via the setup of the table. Even after
synchronization, the new field is not visible...

thanks in advance!

[Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Re: add field to table

2004-12-03 Thread Danny Gaethofs

Hello Rhodpr,

When adding new fields to a table the best approach is to create
either an extended data type or a base enum for the new field.
The EDT can extend other existing data types.

In that way a lot of properties are inherited automatically later on
when creating the fields in your table.

Next you drag the new EDT to your fields node and the new field is
created.

Ok but suppose you did it your way, the new field you created will
become visible in the forms data source node for the table.
Open the data source in another window, find your new field and drag
it to the place in the design where you want to have it positioned.

There is even an easier way to make it visible in your form. If the
field you added can be assigned to an existing field group in the
table definition, it will automatically be included in the form.

Give it a try!

regards,
Danny

Hi,

problem is not the new field. Occur with ervery standard field. Try to
restore the form ... you'll loose your field. Problem iss
[Group:Identification]. Add your field to this group at Inventtable, and
you'll see the field without changing the form.

Re: [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] add field to table

2004-12-03 Thread Varden Morris

Here is the best thing you should do. Remove the modification you made to the inventTable FORM. Go back to the inventTable TABLE and expand the “Field Group” node. Look for the identification group and expand it. You will see all the fields from the form listed here. Drag the new field you added to the table to this node and save the table. Go back to the inventTable form and look at the fields listed under the identification group and you will see you new field added automatically.

2004-12-03 Thread Des Patsourellis

Thank you for
your reply Gulan

There was
definitely no change in the cost price between the finished and costing phases
as we are testing in a very controlled environment. What do you understand the
difference between physical and financial inventory to be ? We have done
further testing and each production order seems to create a variance between
these two values. We have also tried switching off the financial inventory
posting in the inventory model group, but then nothing is posted to the finished
goods and work in progress accounts (posting only happens to the report
as finished accounts).

Hi,

I'm not sure but I remember that standard
costprice also should be

Although receipts and issues are posted at
standard costprice their
could be manual changes to the items costprice.
Maybe their was a change in costprice between
reported as finished and
the time of costing the production order.

Re: [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] AOS required for Enterprise Portal?

2004-12-03 Thread Varden Morris

I have experimented with Enterprise Portal and I got it to without going thru an AOS (2-Tier). However, if there are a lot of users that will be accessing Axapta thru the Enterprise Portal you will have to think about scalability. Going thru the AOS you will have reasonable performance with additional users as the number of users grow but with 2-Tier the performance will fall drastically when the number of users exceed a certain limit which depends on things like sever specs and type of communication links.

  I have experimented with
Enterprise Portal and I got it to without going thru an AOS (2-Tier). However,
if there are a lot of users that will be accessing Axapta thru the Enterprise
Portal you will have to think about scalability. Going thru the AOS you will
have reasonable performance with additional users as the number of users grow
but with 2-Tier the performance will fall drastically when the number of users
exceed a certain limit which depends on things like sever specs and type of

Is it
advisable to have the DB and IIS on the same server? I only expect one or

I am

RE: [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] DIFFERENCE BETWEEN FINANCIAL AND PHYSICAL INVENTORY VALUES

2004-12-03 Thread Van Den Langenbergh Gunther

Also in production you have the same difference between
physical amount and financial amount (like with a purchase: packing slip:
physical and invoice: financial).
Physical amount you could consider as an temporary amount
(must be ON in inventory model group).
If i'm not mistaken: a production is also a receipt and
creates a physical amount when reported as finished (temporary) and a financial
when costing (postcalculation) = definitive. Although I never used
standard cost price as a validation method (I mainly use AWP) I saw that
physical amount was based on qty * costprice (from item table) and financial was
the real costprice (i.e. total of components and operations). So in case
of FIFO or AWP this will definatly always be different. I only don't know
what Axapta takes in case of standard costprice. I should think: the
totalsof (QTY's * the standard cost of component) and totals of operations
or maybe QTY * (standard cost of your produced item). But the last one
seems to me not logic and it that case ofcourse you would end op with the same
amount (if the qty's where equal).

There was
definitely no change in the cost price between the finished and costing phases
as we are testing in a very controlled environment. What do you understand the
difference between physical and financial inventory to be ? We have done
further testing and each production order seems to create a variance between
these two values. We have also tried switching off the financial inventory
posting in the inventory model group, but then nothing is posted to the finished
goods and work in progress accounts (posting only happens to the report as
finished accounts).

RE: [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] AOS required for Enterprise Portal?

2004-12-03 Thread Morten Aasheim

It is not recommended to
have DB/IIS on the same server! This is a big security flaw. If you have a
3-tiered solution in use, a good thing is to place the IIS server in DMZ, and
open the firewall for traffic to LAN on AOS port only. In the configuration
file for EP, use

-aos=[serverip]:[port]

This way you gain good
security and performance.

Dear,

I made an inventory journal for a profit/loss (2 pieces for a certain
item).
I posted it.
When I look at the net requirements for the article, I still see an a
reference to my inventory journal (quantity = -1 ???). Normally it
should be gone(because its posted) I need to get rid of this
reference because the journal is posted...

how can I do this?

Kind regards,

I am the one of the people who work hard to earn the certificate.

I really want to kown what you shoulddo, whenyou don't know the answer of the exam questions.

Whether youwould forget it and go to join the exam next time?

If so, youwon't know the answer for ever.

I think it is the best way to ask the question to the people who maybe know.

Do you have any good suggestion for the people who work hard to earn the certificate?

RE: [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] AOS required for Enterprise Portal?

2004-12-03 Thread Varden Morris

Hi James

You may have to deal with some tradeoffs here. It is not advisable to have your web server and database sever on the same box for security/performance reasons. Also it is advisable not to have your web server on your network. So ideally, for security reasons, you should put your web server in front of the firewall of your network and then place another firewall in front of that for incoming clients. If a user breaks thru the first firewall he will have access to your network if there is no firewall between the web server and you network. Also if the web server is not behind a firewall it is open to the world. But the more tiers you add to your configuration the more performance will degrade as a result of the network hops. You could optimize the links between the firewalls and the web sever by using high speed network card/connections.

Sorry one last question on this,

Is it advisable to have the DB and IIS on the same server? I only expect one or two customer logins to the EP at any given time and the load from 2 tier users on the DB does not seem that badbut I amwondering what will happen if there is alot of activity (e.g. maybe attempted attack on the web site) coming into the IIS

I am just wondering is there any guideline for both performance and security reasons sa to the configuration?

Thanks

I have experimented with Enterprise Portal and I got it to without going thru an AOS (2-Tier). However, if there are a lot of users that will be accessing Axapta thru the Enterprise Portal you will have to think about scalability. Going thru the AOS you will have reasonable performance with additional users as the number of users grow but with 2-Tier the performance will fall drastically when the number of users exceed a certain limit which depends on things like sever specs and type of communication links.

Hello, Fabrice Perez

I am the one of the people who work hard to earn the certificate.
I really want to kown what you shoulddo, whenyou don't know the answer of the exam questions.
Whether youwould forget it and go to join the exam next time?
If so, youwon't know the answer for ever.

RE: [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] DIFFERENCE BETWEEN FINANCIAL AND PHYSICAL INVENTORY VALUES

2004-12-03 Thread Van Den Langenbergh Gunther

Hi,

I'm not sure but I remember that standard costprice also should be
recalculated/closed (according to a specified model)
Although receipts and issues are posted at standard costprice their
could be manual changes to the items costprice.
Maybe their was a change in costprice between reported as finished and
the time of costing the production order.

Hi everyone,
I would appreciate your help on the following:
I have created a production order which carries a cost of R191.70 When
analyzing the integration entries in the Chart of Accounts I noticed the
system posts Physical Inventory to the value of R191.66 and Financial
Inventory to the value of R191.25 and posts the difference to Inventory
Adjustment Profit.
If one is using Std cost why does it generate this difference?
Kind regards,
