This is a difficult one for me to read, light ink.

The date looks like the 20th of June ?? 1832

Jose Alexandre Homem son of Manoel Homem and Josefa Antonia - defuntos 
(Manoel also known as Manoel Homem Martins per his grandsons marriage 
record in 1861)

Marianna daughter of Joaquim Jose Soares and Maria Ignacia

Can anyone read the full date?  

I have searched the marriage index for Fontinas and none of the parnts

Anna Josefa

Their sons (another Agostinho Coelho de Mello) has her farther's name as 
Narciso Ferreira.

My question - am I reading the Delfina's father name corectly as Narcisco 
Ferreira Lourenco??

[AZORES-Genealogy] help with marriage record in porto formoso

I have another marriage record that was hoping someone would help me with.  

Bottom left - goes onto top right.  Marriage of Joam da silva and Maria de 
pementel?

I only can gather the name of Joam's mother - Anna da silva.  Of course the 
page is ripped in the corner with the father's name - who is deceased - 
then the bride's parents are ...  manuel ? , deceased and maria ?

I am also having trouble with the date.  

Was wondering if anyone knows of this family.

degree. Then I know there's an impediment.

I'm struggling with the second record from the top on the right 
pagelots of abbreviations!!!

Marriage is in Santa Barbara church in Ribeiras, Pico

in lines 4 and 5 it looks like there are impediments, but I can't 
understand the words before and after to get the relationship.

in the lines 8 - 9 I see the "groom" is Antonio Silveira Carauta.  I cannot 
understand the words between Carauta and what I read as the name Isabel 
Maria.  My questionis:  Is Isabel Maria his mother?

Then I see the "bride" is Maria Silveira fila da Pedro Silveira and his 
wife Barbara Silveira.  *[Maria is my 3rd great grand aunt]*

pointed it out.

I'm looking at earlier records in Santa Cruz and I'm seeing the name spelled as 
Davis or d'avis.

Many times we encounter a name or spelling variation we are not familiar 
with, but because we know what the name is, we ignore the variation or its 
different appearance. So the best we can do is show a spelling variation or 
error. I should know better. So this name may even be "de Avila" in a very 
compressed jumbled form, so that you only see Avi, because the priest tried 
to fit the wording in. And if Lee knows that Avila is in his lineage, then 
that's what it likely is.

I am in the process of double-checking some of my research and want to make 
surer I'm reading the attached marriage of Joze Rapozo and Quiteria Maria 
correctly:

Left page

I read March 23, 1807 for the date.

Jose Rapozo is the son of Antonio Martins (defunto) and Joanna Rapoza? (not 
really sure of her surname)

Quiteria Maria is the daughter of Luiz Pereira (defunto) and Thereza Maria

It looks like it says they're all from Ginetes (although my records state 
Joze is from Mosteiros and her family is from Fenais da Luz)

Manuel is deceased. yes it says I believe Joao Raposa was baptized in Nossa
Senhora da Graca, Faial.  and Theresa de Jesus was the daughter of Antonio
de Viveiros deceased and Antonia Francisca. Theresa baptized in Senhora de
Bom Jesus (Rabo de Peixe)

I think that you are right on all of the names. The mother of Anna Josefa
is Maria de something and I can't read Santa but I do read Rosa so maybe
someone else will verify that one. The marginal note is just stating the
groom and the bride as Anna Rosa *digo *(mistake, what follows is correct)
Josefa. So, the bride's name is Anna Josefa not Anna Rosa.

Can someone help with the marriage below please?  

Sebastiao de Oliveira and Gertudes da Asumpcao - Right Side.

I can clearly see the parents (Manoel de Oliveira Pimentel/Theredsa de 
Jesus for Sebatiao and Miguel de Sousa Sidadam(ao) and Maria de Paiva for 
Gertudes).

The marriage occurred June 4, 1759.

I see after Sebastiao's name mention of Ajuda (Adjuda da Bretanha?) and 
baptizado (met his obligation?) and after Gertudes of this parish? Also 
baptizada (met her obligation??)

I need a little help with the marriage (left side) of Francisco Pacheco de 
Mello and Rita de Jesus

Married on January 6, 1875.

Francisco was 21 years of age, son of Francisco Pacheco de Mello (deceased) 
and Helena Isabel

Rita was 20 years of age, daughter of Manoel da Costa and Anna *Joaquina??*

I need help with the second name of the Rita's mother Anna - does it indeed 
say, Joaquina or am I reading it wrong.  *Lines 14 (right) and the next 
line 15 for the rest of the name.*

Hermano Pires and I have been "sort of" chasing her and are trying to pin 
down her name (Anna's).

Maria Natalia,

Ernesto do Canto lived in the latter 1800s.  He became interested in
genealogy and created some indices for some freguesias on Sao Miguel
island.  When he created an index, he did not necessarily include all
families either.  He included prominent families or families that were
important to him.  Most of his indices were marriages, but he did a few
baptisms too.

The Canto indices were not scanned and are not available on the CCA.  You
have to go to Sao Miguel to see them.

When I've gone to Sao Miguel, I've typed up some of the indices that are in
the freguesias I'm researching.  The only one I have in its entirety is for
Achada (marriages).  I know a few other people have done the same thing.

We are just waiting for Rabo de Oiexe to be posted, that's where his De Mello 
one is from - Corey A. De Mello; Anthony De Mello ( hope I've my generations 
correct!); Phillip D Mello; Phillip,Charles D Mello; Ventura De Mello (died in 
California); Francisco De Mello and yet another Francis De Mello which is as 
far as we've gotten so far.  But at last it's 7 generations of De Mello's with 
no surname change!

Altino, that record says "Turco" por alcunha. So it is a nickname. The Ana 
de Sá's are noble and wealthy, so you may want to look that up. And I see 
Manoel has given the meaning of tanoeiro.

Manuel Cabral's parents were Manuel Cabral and Ana Martins married in Feteiras 
on 16 Nov 1710.

Maria de Medeiros' parents are João Moreira and Ana Vasconcelos.

Manuel Cabral (sr) - his parents were Manuel Cabral and Maria de Sousa
Ana Martins parents were Pedro Martins Viera and Luzia Correia

It looks to me like the year is 1700 "mil sette centos de de tar de??"

And Anna's father looks like Antonio JozeI compared what looks like a z to 
the z in baptized a above. But not positive of that though.

Ana Concellos is actually Vasconcellos. Joao and Anna married on 16 May
1710 in Ginetes according to Canto Index. He was the son of Joao Moreira
and Luzia de Medeiros and Ana was the daughter of Antonio Jorge and Barbara
de Vasconcellos.

I am in need of a little help with the marriage record of Luis Pereira 
(widower) and Maria Thereza (right page).
 
I read the date as May 14, 1767.
 
Luis is the widower of Paula de Sam Thomas who is buried in Sao Sebastiao.
 
Maria Thereza is the daughter of Antonio de Mederios da Costa and *Ca? 
de Jesus? da Baptizada (not sure if the da Baptizada is part of her name or 
not).*
 
I need help her Maria's mothers name.  This record is hard for me to read 
for me.
 
Any and all help; suggestions, great appreciated.

This is the marriage record of Manoel Affonco(so) Dornellas and Cordola 
Correa - left page bottom/right page top
 
I know that the date is October 30, 1700.
 
I know that Manoel was from Luz - I cannot see any parents name for him.  
Also, looks like the priest wrote Manoel Pereira and then corrected himself 
to Manoel Affonco Dornellas; but no parents listed.
 
As for the bride - this looks to read Cordo/Corda? Correa filha of Manoel 
Gonsalves de Ginde??? and Isabel Correa, of Praia.
 
Can someone please look this over and see if they can figure out of 
Monoel's parents are mentioned (which I don't think they are - just want to 
make sure of that though) and is the Cordola's father's name correct?

her parents are Manuel Pereira and Maria de Vasconcelos. Teresa was born on 6 
Oct 1727 and died on 25 Feb 1810. Miguel and Teresa were married on 3 Sep 1749. 
His line goes back to Afonso Oliveira and Solanda Lopes and also to João Afonso 
"das Grotas Fundas", among others. Teresa's line goes back to the same 
ancestors, so they were distantly related. The biggest challenge will be 
Teresa's paternal grandparents, José Pereira and Maria de Oliveira. Every 
record says they were from and married in Ginetes, but nobody that I know of, 
including Rodrigo Rodrigues, has ever found their marriage. Good luck! I hope

The link you sent does not show anywhere  a Manuel de Sousa and Maria Rodrigues.
The next image does show a Manuel de Sousa with a Maria Tavares.
After her fathers name it says that they live in the Parish of S. Miguel 
Arcanjo.

You have the wrong page. It was on pg.93.
The words after each was "desta freguesia" (of this freguesia), except for the 
bride it also says "tambem desta freguesia" (also of this freguesia).

You got the parents of the groom right. Just hope  you know Roiz is short for 
Rodrigues.
The bride's parents are difficult because of non standard abbreviations.Her 
father's first name looks like Jº which would be João. Or maybe it's J.e which 
would be José. It could also be Pº for Pedro. And he was deceased. Her mother 
was Maria Als. which might be Alves, but is usually abbreviated as Alz. Still 
that must be it. Alves itself is short for Álvares.
If you have seen something with a couple named Pedro de Sousa and Maria 
Alves-Álvares, then that's probably his first name.
Notice one of the witnesses is Damião Alves de Teve, so likely a relative.

Hi Fred,You have the wrong page. It was on pg.93.The words after each was "desta freguesia" (of this freguesia), except for the bride it also says "tambem desta freguesia" (also of this freguesia).You got the parents of the groom right. Just hope  you know Roiz is short for Rodrigues.The bride's parents are difficult because of non standard abbreviations.Her father's first name looks like Jº which would be João. Or maybe it's J.e which would be José. It could also be Pº for Pedro. And he was deceased. Her mother was Maria Als. which might be Alves, but is usually abbreviated as Alz. Still that must be it. Alves itself is short for Álvares.If you have seen something with a couple named Pedro de Sousa and Maria Alves-Álvares, then that's probably his first name.Notice one of the witnesses is Damião Alves de Teve, so likely a relative.Boa sorte.Doug da Rocha HolmesSacramento, CaliforniaPico & Terceira Genealogist916-550-1618www.dholmes.com

I have a marriage record from Lagoa, Sao Miguel, for Ignacio Coehlo and Maria de Souza that I'd like some help with the names of their parents. Here's what I can make out:Married 13 Apr 1643 Ignacio's parents:f. Salvador Roizm. Catharina CardozaMaria's parents:f. Pedro de Souza de ?m.
