[OSL | CCIE_Voice] proctorlabs replication

2013-05-23 Thread Karen Johnson
hi all,

I used auto phone register in proctorlabs. When UCM group start with SUB, phone
never registered.
But when I move PUB to 1st Server in Group, phone registered fine.

And I also checked in Cisco CallManager Reporting for DB summary: replication
look good 2 and CLI also look good

any idea what wrong and what is command to check in this case?

2012-03-08 Thread Emanuel Damasceno
Ken,

All you need to do is let them know you were connected at that time (they
can see it in their logs) and they will issue you a voucher.

They're cool about it, but don't expect them to go after you to give you
the voucher. When you have problems, contact the support immediately. I had
all my problems solved and some of my vouchers were given back to me (new
voucher, that is), when I was labbing with them.

I hope this helps.

[OSL | CCIE_Voice] Proctorlabs Voice sessions and RTP Audio problem

2012-02-22 Thread khaled Saholy

Hi All,
I experienced some problems while doing full lab yesterday and I'd like to know
if you have any thoughts or ideas.

I used XP vm machine for each site with two network cards for each site (NAT),
IP Blue softphone (multiple instances), Cisco VPN client but had some problems:
- I couldn't register CIPC to Call Manager (manually or auto registeration)
- No audio heard (for example) if the call can't go to PSTN
- No audio when listening to Voice Mail , couldn't drop message ..etc
- Services button didn't work with IP Blue and gives script error
- UCCX ICD audio can't be heard

I wander if I my setup is correct or I missed something.

Waiting for your thoughts.

Sometimes IPBlue services softkey doesn't work. But CIPC / softphone

You will need to bind MGCP to the loopback interface, but that's required
 half the time anyway.

[OSL | CCIE_Voice] proctorlabs vpn connection with ASA 5505

2011-01-08 Thread Carl Baccus
I am currently working on connecting up my ASA at home for the
proctorlabs voice vRack.
I have read the article posted by Mark Snow, here on this forum:
http://www.onlinestudylist.com/archives/ccie_voice/2009-September/010787.html

remaining ASA configuration, and even though I am able to establish a
VPN connection to the Vrack, I cannot seem to route correctly to the

I am not great at security or switching and routing, any help with

get it figured out for all others to use!
Thanks in advance!

[OSL | CCIE_Voice] Proctorlabs not resolving

2010-08-29 Thread Bill Lake
Hello,

I would have to agree that not being able to load the servers
especially is an issue. To work the voice labs you must have the
servers available and configured properly for the lab. While we could
use the downloaded configurations for the routers/switch, we can not
do so for the servers. Also, just having the servers on does not allow
us to remotely load the server configurations as those backups/configs
are not supplied in the Proctor Labs voice section.

Perhaps as a backup Proctor Labs can provide instructions to power on
the servers remotely without the web page, how to get and load the
configurations for the servers and at that point it could be a
solutions that we could use to work our voice labs.

Bill,

Unfortunately the servers are the number one issue for voice customers that
we can't provide a good solution to in the event these problems happen
again. To provide what you are suggesting below we would have to give
administrative access to the VMware servers.

I will give you the honest answer as to why would never do it. At least 1
or 2 times a month someone deletes the flash on the routers/switches in the
pod. This is annoying but manageable as the files are small and we can
simply upload them via the USB interface or xmodem them on the switches.
recovering a server after someone makes an accidental mistake is not so
easily achieved. And it is easy enough to wipe out a datastore with
intended or unintended actions. The datastore per server is 1.5 TB. Not as
easy/quick of a problem to resolve.

Tyson,

I had my first session on PL on Friday night, and this was one of the issues
that I ran into. I could not get the servers to reload no matter what I
tried (it seemed).

I had another session scheduled for this morning, but cancelled it as a
result of the frustrating session I had on Friday. Lucky for me, I have a
pretty good home lab, so I can do quite a bit of testing and scenarios on my
own equipment, at my leisure. My lab is a mix of current and previous
generation(s) of equipment, however, so I can't simply copy and paste the
IOS configs into my own gear.

There are two reasons that I chose to purchase PL rack time:
1. Convenience of loading the various IPExpert scenarios.
2. Access to a full lab of the actual equipment.

What are your recommendations in the short term in the event that the
servers will not reload?

Thanks,
mike

Grogan,

I believe that issue to be resolved at this time. A couple people this
weekend contacted the afterhours support to have them manually revert the
racks for them. that is a last resort option that can be provided if all
else fails. Again I am sorry that you experienced issues this weekend and

Hey Scott,

Yes, I have been having the same type of problems. The 7960s usually appear to
work fine. If I use a 7961 or 7971 for whatever reason they have issues. For
instance in some cases I can't call from hq to br1. The phones will ring, but
when I pick, there is no audio. Even though there is no audio if you leave the
phone off the hook eventually the call drops. In some cases when calling the
PSTN the phones will reset when I pickup or try to put on hold the 7961/71s
will state that CM is down. Or like you said, you will pick up the PSTN phone
and the 7961 phone does not acknowledge that the phone has been picked up. It
is a pain. I thought it was just me.

When studying on the voice version 2 pods I did not have any issues, but I was
not using 7971s or 7961s. Not sure if that makes a difference.

Thanks,
Mike

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] Proctorlabs VPN Issues

2010-02-08 Thread Tyson Scott
Scott,

You have to run IOS 12.4T. So we implemented some fVRF configuration at
proctorlabs to make pod to pod transition for students easier. (Which in
the future will allow you guys to save and load configurations if we finish
working out the logistics of that). With this change though our EZVPN
implementation has moved to phase 8 and it seems thru more testing that the
workaround below is required on the client end to match with the features we
have implemented.

If you have a router that can run at least 12.4(15)T then you don't have to
change it out. I am using an 831 at home and it works great so you don't
have to have the latest and greatest by any means.

I would be happy to work with you on this if you would like to setup a time
to do testing.

Scott,

You have to run IOS 12.4T. So we implemented some fVRF configuration at
proctorlabs to make pod to pod transition for students easier. (Which in the
future will allow you guys to save and load configurations if we finish working
out the logistics of that). With this change though our EZVPN implementation
has moved to phase 8 and it seems thru more testing that the workaround below
is required on the client end to match with the features we have implemented.

If you have a router that can run at least 12.4(15)T then you don't have to
change it out. I am using an 831 at home and it works great so you don't have
to have the latest and greatest by any means.

I would be happy to work with you on this if you would like to setup a time to
do testing.

I did not - I may have missed a note in these regards if one was sent out.
Unfortunately I have been limping along (never had issues in V2) with less than
recommended IOS due to hardware constraints. If I enter interface
virtual-template1 I do not have a type tunnel option in the current IOS. What
version is needed for this? May need to break down and finally get to
recommended hardware/software versions if this has been known to cure such
issues.

Thanks

[OSL | CCIE_Voice] Proctorlabs VPN Issues

2010-02-07 Thread scott carruthers

I haven't used a Proctorlabs session in a few weeks. In the past I had issues
with the V3 easy VPN tunnels when using hardware phones. I believe there were
updates sent out stating that many people were experiencing problems with the
easy VPN solution but that the problems were not rectified. Are others having
continued problems?

Issues include:

-Several phones in my lab register without issue, show line appearances, will
go hook and receive dial tone, can dial PSTN numbers, but the call will not cut
thru to two way audio - the phone will continue ringing after I attempt to pick
it up on the PSTN phone.

-This is not a GW, etc issue - some phones are fine - others are not -
indentical configs and calling from same sites.

-Not sure if this related to phone model by my lone 7960 is fine but 7970s
experience issues.

Thanks
Scott

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] Proctorlabs VPN Issues

2010-02-07 Thread Mike Brooks
Hey Scott,

Yes, I have been having the same type of problems. The 7960s usually appear
to work fine. If I use a 7961 or 7971 for whatever reason they have
issues. For instance in some cases I can't call from hq to br1. The phones
will ring, but when I pick, there is no audio. Even though there is no
audio if you leave the phone off the hook eventually the call drops. In
some cases when calling the PSTN the phones will reset when I pickup or try
to put on hold the 7961/71s will state that CM is down. Or like you said,
you will pick up the PSTN phone and the 7961 phone does not acknowledge that
the phone has been picked up. It is a pain. I thought it was just me.

When studying on the voice version 2 pods I did not have any issues, but I
was not using 7971s or 7961s. Not sure if that makes a difference.

Thanks,
Mike

To try to solve this, I made an MTU change on our end.
Please also put this command on whatever you router's OUTSIDE

ip mtu 1300

That has fixed the issue for me with larger (normal data) payload

As for anyone beyond that still having an issue - please read the

In trying to troubleshoot some of your configs, I have seen people

EzVPN interfaces have an IP address in the range of 192.168.x.x

everything will work ahead of time so we won’t have to waste
valuable time troubleshooting the ezvpn and concentrate more on the
voice lab material.

Thanks,
Kevin

Subject: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] ProctorLabs EzVPN NEM Mode

All,

I know quite a few of you have experienced issues with our NEM
(Network Extension Mode) for EzVPN.

To try to solve this, I made an MTU change on our end.
Please also put this command on whatever you router's OUTSIDE
interface is:

ip mtu 1300

That has fixed the issue for me with larger (normal data) payload
sizes.

As for anyone beyond that still having an issue - please read the
following:

In trying to troubleshoot some of your configs, I have seen people
send me configuration files that showed that your EzVPN INSIDE
interfaces were configured with networks higher than what we have
supported on our headend server. PLEASE MAKE SURE that any inside
EzVPN interfaces have an IP address in the range of 192.168.x.x
where the third octet is ONLY a 1 through a 15. I realize that the
configs that we have up on ProctorLabs.com for Hardware EzVPN have
ranges higher than that, but you WILL NEED TO CHANGE them on your
side for this to work.
We put those up there before we enabled NEM and I will try to get
them changed ASAP.

Report back either way to me and let me know what your results are!

Ron,

We are looking into this and will get back to you. Obviously, if
you have used ONE HUNDRED SESSIONS than you probably know that there's
the ability to PRE-LOAD CONFIGS. It's possible either 1) a script ran
when it wasn't supposed to or 2) you set the session up to pre-load a
certain config or 3) you scheduled the session with less than 15
minutes (15 minutes or less before the session started) which didn't
give the scripts enough time to run / clear the devices. Regardless,
you seem to be isolated as our other customers aren't experiencing any
problems.

I will be in touch with you regarding the refund request.

I had a lab session today and ran into a few major issues.

1. I attempted to use ip blue for all of my phones and experienced the
following issues:

a. When no loopback adapters were enabled, it worked fine

b. If I enable a loopback adapter, the program crashes when I go to
settings to make changes

2. After uninstalling IP Blue, rebooting, and attempting to vpn back into
the lab, I was only able to connect to those devices that did not use dns (i.e.
6500 and ccm).

3. I did not get any dns resolution. In addition, after working with the
support guys at proctor labs, they gave me the ip address of the terminal
server for the routers, and I was unable to connect to it via ip address as
well. The vpn profile I used was downloaded from the proctorlabs session. I'm
not sure how to post the configs on it, please ask for what you might want with
regards to that.

Also, is there a config available to use an ASA5505 to connect to the lab?

In working through Vol 1, lab 5, I've run across something that I've note been
able to figure out.

CallManager is configured with two trunks, one G711, and one G729. retry on
BRQ has been allowed in the service parameters.

Gatekeeper is configured as follows:

interface Loopback0
 ip address 172.22.100.1 255.255.255.0
 ip ospf network point-to-point
 h323-gateway voip interface
 h323-gateway voip id VGK ipaddr 172.22.100.1 1719
 h323-gateway voip h323-id IPIPGW
 h323-gateway voip bind srcaddr 172.22.100.1

gatekeeper
 zone local UCM-GK ipexpert.com 172.22.100.1
zone local ATA-GK ipexpert.com invia VGK outvia VGK
 zone local VGK ipexpert.com
 zone remote PSTN-WAN ipexpert.com 10.22.200.2 1719
 zone prefix PSTN-WAN 011*
 gw-type-prefix 1#* default-technology
 no shutdown

When a call is placed to the PSTN phone 0119876543 with the above
configuration, calls ring through, but when the phone is answered, originating
station gets fast busy. Place a second call

space (10.0.1.X assigned by VPN and 10.0.1.X in use locally). Moving to a
different subnet solved that.

However, I haven't been able to get into the PSTN Troubleshooting interface yet
on any session. It comes up saying no ip address for that host name. Support
hasn't come up with any answers on that one.

Subject: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] Proctorlabs connectivity issues

I had a lab session today and ran into a few major issues.

  1. I attempted to use ip blue for all of my phones and experienced the
following issues:

  a. When no loopback adapters were enabled, it worked fine

  b. If I enable a loopback adapter, the program crashes when I go to
settings to make changes

  2. After uninstalling IP Blue, rebooting, and attempting to vpn back
into the lab, I was only able to connect to those devices that did not use dns
(i.e. 6500 and ccm).

  3. I did not get any dns resolution. In addition, after working with
the support guys at proctor labs, they gave me the ip address of the terminal
server for the routers, and I was unable to connect to it via ip address as
well. The vpn profile I used was downloaded from the proctorlabs session. I'm
not sure how to post the configs on it, please ask for what you might want with
regards to that.

Also, is there a config available to use an ASA5505 to connect to the lab?

[OSL | CCIE_Voice] ProctorLabs 6500 - Issues ?

2008-12-20 Thread Mike Brooks
Is anyone else having issues on the 6500s on proctorlabs ?

I can issue some commands but when I try to use commands with larger
outputs the 6500 hangs and I have to reconnect. This is on all of the
6500s that I am experiencing the same symptoms.

VOICE-6500-1 (enable) sho port 1
..works

VOICE-6500-1 (enable) sho port 2
..hangs

VOICE-6500-1 (enable) sho port 3
..hangs

I have sent an email to support. Please let me know if anyone else is
experiencing this.

Thx,
Mike

[OSL | CCIE_Voice] Proctorlabs Intermittent Outages ??

2008-11-29 Thread Mike Brooks
It appears that the www.proctorlabs.com website is intermittently
going down. Is anyone else experiencing this issue ? Also configs
were not reverted back on my pod and I was able to revert all the
routers and switches but not the servers (pub/sub/unity). I have
tried to revert the servers a few times and it is not working. Ugh..
anyone else having problems ? I have sent a few messages to support
but I am not sure if they are getting them.

Thx,

[OSL | CCIE_Voice] Proctorlabs POD14 HQ phones retain wrong CCM settings

2008-09-14 Thread Alex

Hi there,
I could not get POD14 HQ phones to register during my night session, upon
browsing to phone's webpage I could see they retain these settings:
10.30.200.21 as CCM IP server (should be 10.4.200.21). Switching
autoregistration+TFTP server from PUB to SUB and togging DHCP lease for the
phones did not help.
Also in the status messages on these phones there is a line saying TFTP
10.4.200 not authorised.

I guess HW phones need to be reset from their keypads.
Perhaps anyone has an idea how to reset an unregistered IP phone?
Cheers
Alex
