Re: WildCard query

2009-07-22 Thread David McGuigan

You can grab a list of all of the columns of any table and loop through them
pretty easily ( they syntax varies with your database vendor ).

MySQL is just:

describe tableName

Get your client to pay for it then. :) If they're going to be doing online
sales, it should be pretty easy for them to front the $400 license fee as a
cost of doing business. Whenever I'm working with a client and need outside
components or software I just tell them what they will need (hosting, cart
software, merchant account, etc.) and point them to the right places to go
acquire all of those things and bring them back to me so I can do all of the
setup and customization for them. If they can't swing $400 for a decent
online store...

Fair enough. Once I get a few bucks into my pocket, I'll look into it.
But for now, I need to give him some freeware and charge him to set it
up.

So I hear what you are saying. Just with even a low price point, I
can't afford it.

I waited for someone else to say it but +1 for CF Webstore. The price
point is set so well that it would cost you more in man hours to build
it than to buy it. It's actively developed, customizable and

If this is the case, then I will remove it. I do know however the following.

1) MySQL is useable with it now.
2) My client wants to use Paypal only, so it's easy to strip it out.

It has been 5 years since he started it, but last update was April

Phillip, you might need to double check but last I looked cfshopkart it was
storing credit card details in its database (an MS Access database). And if
you're on shared hosting this this db is likely to be web accessible. If
this is still the case then avoid this cart.
Mike, cfshopkart was one of the authors first cf applications so is not a
good example of a well designed or coded app.

I'd recommend going with James' advise:

Seconded. It's hard to be involved in web development and not have to do
e-commerce at some point, but there are so many things to deal with that I
would highly recommend you work with a team that has experience so you can
learn more about the pitfalls before going at it on your own (or purchase a
reputable pre-built application like CFWebStore to get started). Every
client will have different needs for shipping, taxes, how payments are
handled, etc. There are also regulations such as the PCI-DSS that have to
be dealt with if you're taking credit cards directly on your store (i.e. not
through PayPal or the like). It's certainly not something to be approached
lightly. I wish you the best of luck with your project though.

ecommerce emergency

2009-07-22 Thread mike pop

i have 2 months to learn how to build an entire ecommerce application. i've
been in the finance field for so long that ecommerce is a completely new
industry for me.

to be honest, i wouldn't know if cookies or client variables are the best
choice for cart storage. what data should i store in session variables? the
basic ecommerce questions are things that I have not been exposed to before.

there's lots of snippets here and there; lots of basic material in books and
tutorials.

i need something to tie everything together. i found a free coldfusion app but
this spaghetti code is so old that it's like looking at code from a time
machine.

all recommendations and advice welcome. if anything, the first step is
building the admin interface for products, categories/subcategories, customers,
orders, shipping, and payment (only credit card and COD available).

the customer site will come later.

hence doing 50% of their work if they are trying to break into your system

OK now for the dumb question.

Where do I add the code???

Re: Log In Form

2009-07-22 Thread Alan Rother

>>>I just think it would be nice to tell the visitors what went wrong.
(Wrong username, password, or both).
I wouldn't recommend doing that. If someone is trying to gain illicit access
to your site, your providing them with helpful information. For example, if
you tell them they got their username right, then they just have to brute
force attack the form with random passwords until they get in.
However, if you still want to do this, it's pretty easy.

First check in one query to see if the user name is in the database then if
it is in a second query see if that username and password are both in the
database in the same record.

If it is, then log them in.

If they pass the first query test, but not the second, then you know they
entered the right username, but wrong password, this can be verified by
checking the queryname.RecordCount on the first query. If it's GT 0 they
have a username in the database.

If they fail the first one, then they inherently failed the second test, so
you can pass back a message stating they entered an invalid
username/password combination.

Hello.

I'm using this log in form for my website but went a user types in the wrong

Open Source Store?

2009-07-22 Thread Phillip Vector

I recall awhile back when there was a discussion about a year or 2 ago
on this list about free web ecommerce stores and it led me to a really
fantastic application that handled all my needs. It had a menu on the
left side, full ecommerce, customizable web pages, ran on MySQL, etc.
It was everything I could ask for in an open source app.

1 hard disk crash later and loss of email and no real need (until now)
to retrack it down (I since gave out the FTP access to the client and
no longer was part of the project), I find myself in need of it again
but I can't REMEMBER THE NAME!!!

So I will ask again and hopefully, I'll find my oasis again. :) Does
anyone know of such an app that is fully open source? I looked on RIA
Forge which is where I thought I found it before (or was led to), but
the only 3 ecommerce apps were all pre-beta.

Can anyone help a brotha out? :)

RE: Calling .ASPX.VB from .CFM

2009-07-22 Thread Jason Neidert

Digging deeper...

Using a program called 'Altova MapForce'. Opened the WSDL file in there,
here are the global settings.

WSDL Definitions:
http://irm.resortdata.com/LutsenInterface/IRMPublic.asmx?wsdl
Service: {http://resortdata.com/IRMPublic}IRMPublicMethods
Port: IRMPublicMethodsSoap
Operation: {http://resortdata.com/IRMPublic}CheckAvailability

Endpoint: http://irm.resortdata.com/LutsenInterface/IRMPublic.asmx

Looking again at the aspx.vb file:

Dim CheckAvailabilityRQ As New IRMPublic.CheckAvailability_irmRQ
(in the VB file it appears they are creating a new object from the def.
IRMPublic.CheckAvailability_irmRQ)

How can I accomplish the creation of the object CheckAvailabilityRQ using
ColdFusion?

webservice= "http://resortdata.com/IRMPublic";
type = "webservice"
wsportname = "IRMPublicMethodsSoap">

Then use CFINVOKE or something to create an instance of
'IRMPublic.CheckAvailability_irmRQ'?

I think I am getting closer...

I think you'll need a little more than that; you'll need CFCs to
represent the objects and you'll need to use CFPROPERTY to name the
properties of those objects in a way that the CF WSDL stub builder
will be able to map to the original WSDL. For example, a Credentials
object:

... other properties go here ...
... code to populate those properties goes here ...

All the AJAXy tags and function access files in domain.com/cfide/blaa/blaa.

Add CFIDE as a virtual directory in your new sites and see if that fixes it.

RE: Calling .ASPX.VB from .CFM

2009-07-22 Thread Jason Neidert

Dave,

I dug more and here is the aspx.vb file which .NET uses to create the
objects:

In the web.config file there is a setting:

http://irm.resortdata.com/LutsenInterface/IRMPublic.asmx"/>

Then in the aspx.vb file:

 Dim irm As New IRMPublic.IRMPublicMethods

  Dim CheckAvailabilityRQ As New IRMPublic.CheckAvailability_irmRQ
  Dim CheckAvailabilityRS As IRMPublic.CheckAvailability_irmRS

  With CheckAvailabilityRQ
.Credentials = New IRMPublic.irmWebSvcCredentials
'loginid/password for testing
.Credentials.LogonID = "IRMTest"
.Credentials.Password = "1qasw2"
'DataPath dependant on propery installation, for demo use
c:/rdp1202/rdp95
.Credentials.DataPath = txtDataPath.Text
'Unique id between 29000-2 for each session, set in Global.asax
.Credentials.DatabaseID = Session("DatabaseID").ToString

.AvailabilityRequest = New IRMPublic.irmDatesRoomInfo
With .AvailabilityRequest
'Current date in demo files is 03/01/1998
  .ArrivalDate = CType(txtArrival.Text, Date)
  .DepartureDate = CType(txtDeparture.Text, Date)
'Valid room types for demo: DD, Q, QQ, K, KA, PH
  .RoomType = txtRoom.Text
  .People1 = CType(ddPeople.SelectedValue, Int32)
  .People2 = 0 : .People3 = 0 : .People4 = 0
End With
  End With

  CheckAvailabilityRS = irm.CheckAvailability(CheckAvailabilityRQ)

SO, I am thinking that CFINVOKE will call the method 'CheckAvailability'

I will need to pass it the CheckAvailabilityRQ object

The CheckAvailabilityRQ object will contain the 'Credentials' and the
'AvailabilityRequest' objects that you gave me insight on how to create via
CFCOMPONENT.

Once I create the 'Credentials' and 'AvailabilityRequest' objects how do I
nest them inside an object called 'CheckAvailabilityRQ'?

RE: Calling .ASPX.VB from .CFM

2009-07-22 Thread Jason Neidert

Dave,

That definitely points me in a better direction, thank you.

One other thing that is confusing me however is how the complex types of the
WSDL are pointing to other complex types. For instance, in this following
bit of the WSDL:

The element 'CheckAvailability' defines a complex type of
'CheckAvailability_irmRQ'.

'CheckAvailability_irmRQ' is later defined as a complex type that points to
two other complex types within the WSDL.

I'm trying to wrap my brain around how to create and send complex objects to
the web service but it's hurting. I know that the data to be sent in is:
String: dataPath
String: LogonID
String: Password
String: DatabaseID
String: RoomType
DateTime: ArrivalDate
DateTime: DepartureDate
Int: People1
Int: People2
Int: People3
Int: People4

How can it be so tricky to get these values into cold fusion objects that
will map correctly the XML of this WSDL? Just a bit more insight and I
promise I won't write again until I have exhausted all newly found help.

Re: asynchronous form values

I had no luck figuring this out so I used another method. I used
coldfusion.navigate to submit the form to a div at the bottom of the page.

This works great and is actually a nicer solution, but I still I wish I knew
how to make asynchronous form values stick.

I need to add an image up loader to a clients site.
I need to create thumbnails during the upload.
I need an auto scrolling container to hold all the thumbnails. Pagination is

I need to plan on having 300+ products at any one time in this scroller.

I cannot dictate to the photographer what shape to make the image, so I will
have both portrate landscape and Square. (this is where i run into problems)

I have available MS SQL 2005, Coldfusion 8, and whatever Ajax I want, altho
i have not used much Ajax yet.

What suggestions would you all make?

CFML Code Colorizer for display on a web page.

2009-07-22 Thread Gerald Guido

I have been looking around on Google, CFLib and RIAforge for something to
colorize CF code (and CSS,JS, html if possible) such that it can be
displayed on a web page. I am pretty sure I have seen one before, I just
can't seem to find it.

Does anyone know off hand of a CFC or UDF that will do this. I saw a plugin
for mango blog and Ben Nadel had a code example that didn't look like it was
finished. I was looking for something that would (hopefully) work out of the
box.

As always, many TIA

RE: Calling .ASPX.VB from .CFM

2009-07-22 Thread Jason Neidert

I am beginning to see how WSDL works here and how I will be able to call it
via CFINVOKE.

If I want to call the method called 'CheckAvailability' I am still a bit
sketchy on what data structures to pass.

It appears that:

 - CheckAvailability CALLS CheckAvailability_irmRQ
 - CheckAvailability_irmRQ CALLS Credentials
 - Credentials CALLS irmWebSvcCredentials
 - - irmWebSvcCredentials is looking for a structure containing 4
strings

 - CheckAvailability_irmRQ ALSO CALLS AvailabilityRequest
 - AvailabilityRequest CALLS irmDatesRoomInfo
 - - irmDatesRoomInfo is looking for a structure that contains 2
dates, 1 string and 4 integers

SO... if I use CFINVOKE I am not quite sure what to pass in the
CFINVOKEARGUMENT

Do I attempt to create a large structure and pass it in under
'CheckAvailability_irmRQ'?

Here is an example I was provided of the SOAP request to check availability:

http://resortdata.com/IRMPublic";>

  string
  string
  string
  string

  dateTime
  dateTime
  string
  int
  int
  int
  int

It's even stranger. We've continued to test today and on one instance on one
server the webservice runs without a hitch and on another server we get this
error. Within the same domain. Alas it fails on the server where it should run
and works on a server where it doesn't need to run... Crap!

RE: using CF to eliminate old Real Estate photos

2009-07-22 Thread Sawyer, Edward

It sounds to me like the photos aren't in the database at all, but probably
just in a directory? If they are in a DB table, then as mentioned the primary
key/ indexing really needs to be rethought.

Rather than run a purge via the query (which is going to be a big resource
load, from the looks of it) I'd put the delete photos functionality into
whatever method is used to close a listing. E.g. house sells, close the listing
and delete the photos.

Good luck

re: cfquery

2009-07-22 Thread Jason Fisher

I think you want it this way, using a CASE statement for the leadmgr
column. I also moved all your subselects into left joins, which should
give a bit better performance.

select
s.address + ' ' + s.address2 + ' ' + s.address3 + ',' + s.city + ',' +
s.state + ',' + s.city as office_address,
leadmgr = case
when (lm.user_id is null) then lm.lead_note
else lm.first + ' ' + lm.last
end,
amr.first + ' ' + amr.last as director,
sn.first + ' ' + sn.last as SDIRNDIR,
vp.first + ' ' + vp.last as VICEPRE,
fm.first + ' ' + fm.last as FASTMGR
from sourcebook_1 s left outer join
user_info lm on s.lead_mgr = lm.user_id left outer join
user_info amr on s.area_mgr_rdo = amr.user_id left outer join
user_info sn on s.sdir_ndir = sn.user_id left outer join
user_info vp on s.vice_pre = vp.user_id left outer join
user_info fm on s.fast_mgr = fm.user_id
where active = 1
and office_id not in (36,37,38,73)
order by office_number

If that were the case, then I'd be having bigger problems... ;-)

RE: Caching issue

2009-07-22 Thread Jacob

Found it.

There is a program call PipeBoostCache for compression and caching. It was
for compression and not for caching, but someone turned on the caching...

Are you using session scope for anything (like the current customer)?

If so, do you have a load balancer that may have lost its "sticky IP"
setting? (It could be that you are bouncing around your web site cluster
and getting different session state on each one.)

Thanks

Subject: Caching issue

Setup.. 18 web servers with Windows 2003/CF7 or 2008/CF8.

It appears that I am pulling up cached queries from the servers. If I
pull up a movie list from a customer, I get a different customer. If I
refresh the list, then the right list shows up. If I clear my
cookies/cache, close the browser and try again with a different customer
list.. same thing. I get the wrong list, but when I refresh I get the
right list.

No changes to the scripts and this starting happening over night. None
of the servers have saved cached queries and all the queries in the
coding are not cached. If I try to debug, I get no debugging info (with
the wrong list). But if I refresh, I then get debugging info with the
right list.

I have added the following on top of the application.cfm template:

But that still does not appear to fix the issue.

Any other ideas what to look for?

Thanks
Jacob

With what standard ? The generic answer would be to cfexecute 'gpg' and parse
the result, or find a suitable Java API.
