Now I am a little lost. Each one of the 3 servers will need to have
JRun installed on them? The issue I am having is when I try and run
the wsconfig.jar file I keep getting a message that says

- -JNDI listen port in jndi.properties blocked by TCP/IP filtering or
firewall on server
- -host restriction in security.properties blocking communication with
server.

I fixed the host restriction by doing a search through google but can
not solve what I think is the jndi issue.

I am trying to expand my current knowledge skills with a website that
could use the benefit of distributed and clustering mode. In our
office we have 2 separate internet connections with one being a 4MB
connection and one being a 15MB connection. What I am wanting to do is
install Apache on 2 servers with one being on each internet connection
and then proxy the information to a third machine running cfmx 7.02

My First Question is on the Apache Server how would I go about
installing the jrun apache module connector on a machine that does not
have jrun/cfmx? Websites that I have found says run the Webserver
Configuration Tool. If I sftp the wsconfig.jar to the apache server
will it run with sun java.

I presume I will have more questions later

Coldfusion Website Marketing Ideas Inquiry

For those who have already traveled down this road, when you have
created a website that does a specific task, how does one go about
marketing it to other special groups to let them know about the
application which one wrote. What I am currently doing is sending
messages via email to contact individuals in hope that they view the
website which will spark interest via telephone or I have been doing
group presentations when I discover the coordinator of the meeting so
I can be put on the agenda. But what other methods if any that I can
utilize

Website is http://www.weareclosedtoday.com

Now for the Background:

Utilizing Coldfusoin MX7, Event Gateway, Flex and Adobe Air, I have
created a website that will allow school districts to report any
Delays, Closings and Early Dismissals electronically to the News
Media. The Adobe Air piece to this is a desktop application that the
radio stations run which pulls data from the MySQL Database every 5
minutes so the Radio DJ can view any updated status without having to
answer the phone when an event like this takes place. On the
Television side of the application, the system is injesting
information into the website plus sending the data through the
character generator which gets displayed at the bottom of the screen.
Flex is apart of the users interface which gives the ability for
someone to update their status anytime the need arises. And I just
learned about the Event Gateway XMPP Section so users who would like
to get status via AOL Instant Messenger can send a message to buddy

CFPOP Inquiry

I am trying to solve an issue with cfpop about not getting the message
headers withiin a pop3 account. I have enabled the debug of the cfpop so
I can see what commands are issues to the pop3 mail server. When I run
the test page I see that cfpop issues the following commands of user
username, pass password, STAT and UIDL. The STAT returns 1 message which
is the same message that I show on the cfdump of qMessageList in my test
page. However if on the server I perform the same commands via telnet
that are logged to the cfusion-out.log file and via telnet on the STAT I
am showing 34 messages instead of 1.

Does anyone have other ideas as to why this is happening or things I can
try.

What all of this Data and PHP Scripts do is take a US Address and

What version of Apache are you trying to use with CF7. I have 3 CF7
Servers running with Apache 2.0 and Apache 2.2 without any issues along

If running Apache 2.2 you will need the new version of the wsconfig.jar

everything is working correctly, then upgrade the JVM to the latest

One idea is if you have something that would listen on a TCP/IP Port
you can use a Serial Port Redirector which takes the Information from
a serial port and redirects it to a TCP/IP Network location. I do not
have much details as we are going to start using this for the Weather
Stations to have CF7/CF8 receive the information at a central location
for our 36 School Districts.

And for those that do not have a budget you can do the same thing in a
2 step process. For United States Addresses you take the user supplied
address and pass it to the United States Postal Service to read the
returned address then you take the results you received from the USPS
and pass it to GeoCoder.us to get the Lat/Long of each Address.

Paul Cormier wrote:
> ZipCodes aren't geographic areas, they are postal service delivery
routes. Some of them have really wacky layouts and boundaries. In some
places, a building has it's own zipcode. I also recommend you geocode
each address, then do the distance math between lat-lons. Google it and
you'll find several formulas. There are several address geocoders to
use on the cheap, but you get what you pay for (daily limits,
unresolved addresses, etc.) If you have some budget, check out

Here is how I handle this for my applications that I need to get a
radius distance. After I ask the user for their address information or
the address information for a Business I verify that information via
the United States Postal Service. I then create a new Array with the
returned information while also grabbing the Carrier Route, Country,
Delivery Point Code, Check Digit, LAC, eLOT, and the Record Type Code.
This will also tell me if the address is a mail serviceable address,
non-Deliverable address or an address that is not existent. This Array
will then pass through the GeoCoder to Grab the Latitude and Longitude
on the verified address which is then stored in this array. The array
is then passed back to the user and stored with their database account
record.

With all of this information, then you can perform a radius distance
calculation on the Lat/Long and show all Members within the X Mile
Distance.

If you are handy with Unix and you know all of the Cell Phone Proivers
of the users who will be receiving these SMS messages you can create
your own SMS Gateway and save a lot of money. All you will need is a
Linux Based Computer, a 2400 baud modem and a cheap fax line. If you
want to test it out, simple contact me off list and I can configure
mine setup to send you sms messages. The way that I perform this is I
have to know the Cell Phone Provider so I can send the right message
to the Right Provider which delivers the message to the end user.

I have been doing this same thing with Coldfusion 5 in the K-12
Education Industry for 5 years however since I am a single man shop I
am not "Well Known" in the community so my knowledge in this is
overlooked. To see the Web Interface you can visit
http://paging.niesc.k12.in.us select my name from the list and send a
message which will be received on my Treo 650 phone through Verizon
Wireless.

I have been doing this same thing with a product called TCPClient from
www.intrafoundation.com. this program is a COM Object which gives
Coldfusion the ability to communicate with all kids of TCP protocols.

The Cell Phone Providers have and operate an SNPP Gateway which is
using the TAP Protocol which they do not want to admit to as this cuts
out the SMC's but if you ask the right question to the right person
you can get the right information.

If someone is savy with Linux they can install a program called QPAGE,
a 2400Baud Modem to create their own SMC then the Coldfusion
application would talk TCP to this machine to send pages on demand.

This is the same thing which I have been doing for Indiana K-12 School
Corporations for the past 5 years and my application sends out just
under 2 Million text messages each year.

use them. However, I know pretty much NIL about java, so I'm looking

This is the same thing which I do. I have 1 VM Session that has my
Testing software installed on it that I can play with which allows me
to not mess up my actual workstation. I have 1 VM Session running
OpenSuse that houses the Subversion and MySQL Databases for all of my
Development. I have 1 VM Session running Windows 2000 Pro that has CF7
Installed on JRUN and Apache. My Actual workstation has Eclipse, mysql
gui tools along with other eclipse plugins so I can connect to these
VM Sessions.

When I am doing development, I will fireup the OpenSuse and Windows 2K
VMWare Sessions and then also Eclipse. The windows vmware session has
a mapped drive to my local host and when I am ready to test some code,
I would then simply copy the code to the windows vmware session and
browse it within a browser. When I am satisfied with my changes, I
would then commit them to SVN which goes to the OpenSuse VMWare
Session. When I am done making changes, I shutdown the VMWare Sessions
and zip up the directory to burn to a DVD.

The way that I have been doing this same thing since CF4 is to use a a
COM Object from www.introfoundation.com called TCPClient. This gives
alot of network based functions to your coldfusion pages.

Just send a message if you need code examples.

Re: ColdFusion SMS Text Messages to Cell?

2007-04-18 Thread Graham Pearson
In light of what has happened with the shooting, K-12 School
corporations here in Indiana have been doing SMS Messages through my
Coldfusion SMS Gateway running CF5 and CF6 for the past 6 years. My
office was even recognized in a local newspaper when we had a similar
situation as being the resource to get emergency notices out during a
hostage situation and then a school fire when telephone lines became
unavailable due to the disaster. Since these couple of situations most
schools have added this type of communication to their disaster plans
and perform routine drills which keeps everyone involved current so when
this happens for real damage will be kept to a minimum.

What makes my gateway different is I have programmed a way for CF to
communicate with the Cell Phone Providers via the Industry Standard
which is the TAP Protocol and the Simple Network Paging Protocol.
Allowing Coldfusion to communicate with the Cell Providers in this
manner cuts out the SMSC and the Agregator services and still provides
the timely delivering of the message to the end user.

Re: ColdFusion SMS Text Messages to Cell?

2007-04-18 Thread Graham Pearson
For the past 6 Years I have been doing this exact same thing with
Coldfusion, and the TAP Protocol to send messages. How I perform this is
via a DialTone connecting directly to the Major Cell Providers TAP
equipment which cuts out of need to screenscrape the providers web form
or the need to have a 3rd party receive my messages and then deliver
them to the end user.

The only drawback to the way that I am doing this is I have to know who
the Cellphone Provider is so I can route the SMS message directly to
their provider via their own 800 number which they do not publicize by
the way.

Re: Report Building? Any Options or Solutions

2007-04-13 Thread Graham Pearson
The RB is CFRB. The Report I am trying to generate is one where a
principal in a school will select a date range and a listing of teachers
along with a list of objectives that they would like to run this summary
report on. I then create the necessary queries to pull in all audits
that fall within the date range, and have been performed on the list of
teachers. I then perform another query on the previous query to create a
query of only the audits which the principal would like to see
objectives on. So right before the report is displayed on the screen I
have a query which has the School Public Data, 3 Form Variables which
are the Selected Teachers, Start Date Range, End Date Range and a Query
which lists all objectives with one objective per row that has an ID
number, Category Name like "Students Participation", Score0 through
Score5, Total and Average. Now this list can be 1 Row or 100 Rows as it
all depends on the principal and what they have selected.

In my previous attempt at this report through CFRB Each of my subreports
were one objective which I passed into the primary report as a param.
This did work however if one Objective had 15 records the objective
which was next would overlap on some of this one objectives. In the CFRB
I tried all of the options to find a way that if I made each of the
subreports 1.000in and had 8 subreports included on this main report for
each of the objective areas, and one of the objective areas had 25
records to display, it would be nice for that subreport to display fully
then the next subreport would start at the end of the previous subreport
instead of starting at the inch location in the properties of that
subreport.

This report might not be designed in an efficient manner as this is the
first time in history that I have needed to generate what I would call a
professional type report.

Report Building? Any Options or Solutions

2007-04-12 Thread Graham Pearson
I am working with RB and have ran into a problem which I am unable to
solve. My Report has 6 SubReports which I would like displayed one right
under the other however I as a developer do not know how much space to
give each subreport and this report will be used as documentation within
the educational market. At the present time I have text within various
subreports overlapping and would like to know if this can be solved if
it can not be solved, is their anything in existence that can create
semi-complex reports which will be displayed via the web. The
educational agency that this application is for can not afford Crystal
Reports so moving to that is out of the question.

What are people doing to create professional semi-complex reports for
their applications.

Re: SMS application

2006-11-18 Thread Graham Pearson
You would need to open an account or if you want to provide the service
yourself you can create your own SMS Gateway and use SNPP along with the
TAP Protocol to send the Messages. I have been doing this for the past 5
years for approx 2500 enabled SMS Devices. I am providing the Web
Service that I have created for my application available to anyone who
would like to try it.

Report Writer

2006-07-17 Thread Graham Pearson
I have been trying to create reports with Report Writer and everytime I view
the reports I get an error message that says Premature end of file. This
happens when I try to browse the report directly or via a cfm page.

I have also tried to create a simple report using the report writer on the same
computer which CF 7.0.2 is installed on and then also from my workstation which
connects to the server via rds. I also have a vmware image that is using
Windows 2000 Server and CF7.0.2 and this also produces the error message when
trying to access the report.

Since these report files are compiled, does anyone know if these reports can be
created with another application like iReport and then view them with the
cfreport tag?

cfreport issues

2006-06-05 Thread Graham Pearson
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

I have been trying to work with cfreport on a cf7 development server.
My issue is when trying to view the report having all of the files
within the same directory I am getting an error message of Report
compilation error. Premature end of file. I have also put the path to
the report file in the template field which produces The reportCFC
file /login/systemadmin/reports/view_school_corporations2.cfr does not
exist, or could not be found.

When I try and view the report within the report browser I get the
Report compilation error message. I have been searching the net for a
solution on this for the past 3 days and have not found anything that
solves this issue I am having.

Suggestions.

I have written my own Bug Tracking Application for the CFMX

license for it. All of my applications use Apache and MySQL. I am also
in Education and have quite a few applications tailored to education.

school system into using the, and no one else.

Retrieving Zip File from Remote CFMX Server

2005-10-17 Thread Graham Pearson
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-

I am trying to retrieve a zip file from a remote CFMX server to my
local CFMX Server and wanting this process to be done without any user
interaction. What I have done this far is use cfhttp to get the file
and when I cfdump the cfhttp scope within my FileContent I have object
of java.io.ByteArrayOutputStream with various Methods.

How do I use these methods to save this file to the local hard drive.
After I save it, I am wanting to unzip this file and overwrite any
files as the zip file has the latest versions of my coldfusion templates.

Any Assistance Greatly Appriciated.

Syncing Data between Websites

2005-06-22 Thread Graham Pearson
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-

I am creating an application which will have 2 separate websites with
one being a Live Server with MySQL and the other one being a Tablet PC
with CF and Access.

The Idea at present time is if the Tablet had a connection to the
Internet via Wireless while in the classroom, then the data would be
stored on the Live Server under MySQL. If the tablet was not connect to
the network then it would store the info to access until the time the
tablet had Internet connection.

I figure I would use cfhttp to check the Live Server and test to make
sure I get a 200 Response code back but not sure after I get the 200
Response from the table to save the data to the MySQL server. Does
anyone have experience with this? Or has anyone done something like this
who is willing to share their experiences.

Retrieving Variable Values Dynamically

2005-05-15 Thread Graham Pearson
How does one go about getting the values of of a form structure based on
a comma separated list of FORM.FocusAreas. The focus areas can have a
maximum of 4 areas within it and will also have a corresponding form
structure with the Record ID Numbers for this area.

At the present time when I try to dump position 2 of focus areas I
currently get audit_id instead of the comma seperated list. Anyone have
an idea on how I can get the list so I can perform a query to get the
Description of the specific record numbers from the specific audit table.

My Form Structure is
audit_cd: 3,4,7,9
audit_id: 1,2,4,7,8,9,10
FocusAreas: audit_cd, audit_id

Any Ideas?

Re: SMS and billing

2005-04-19 Thread Graham Pearson
How we have been doing this for the past 5 years is to let Peachtree do
the accounting. We charge $3.00 per Month per SMS Device or Alphanumeric
Pager on a yearly contract. We just educate the end-user that they are
responsible for any additional SMS charges on their bill if they go over
the providers daily limit as we just provide the gateway for co-workers
to send text messages to the device which is alot easier than decoding a
numeric page.

The Application I wrote has 551 Devices configured and has sent 33035
Web Based Messages and 4598 Email Messages to these devices since July
1, 2004. The application is Powered by CFMX and MySQL with a Flash
Frontend.

Query Problem

2005-03-06 Thread Graham Pearson
I am running into a problem which I have not ran into before. Below is
my query

   Select status.CorpNumber, status.UserID, status.EffectiveDate,
status.ReportedDateTime,
  status.Closed, sites.name as CorpName
   From status, sites
   Where status.corpNumber = sites.id and
  Month(Status.EffectiveDate) = variables.newMonth and
  Day(Status.EffectiveDate) = variables.newDay and
 Year(status.effectiveDate) = variables.newYear and
  status.closed = 1
 Order by CorpName

When I run the query I get an error message which states:

Base table or view not found message from server: "Unknown table
'variables' in where clause"

I have this same query in another place but instead of
variables.newMonth I have #Month(Now())#, Day(Now()), and Year(Now())
which gives me the desired results for today. The above query is
supposed to give me results for tomorrow when the current time is past
11:59 AM which I am testing via a cfif just above this query in my page.
Anyone have suggestions?

Re: Has anyone tried out the SMS gateway on MX 7

2005-03-05 Thread Graham Pearson
I am using a way that does not cost anything to send text messages to
all digital cellphone providers and I am not using the various Web
Forums that providers have been putting online. I have been sending text
messages to cellphones and alphanumeric pagers since CF4.0 and looking
at my log files have sent 1 Million text messages since I started 4
years ago. The way that I handle this, I have the users sign an
agreement which they understand that if they go over the allotted number
of text messages in a month that they are responsible for the additional
charges.

My Interface is located at http://paging.niesc.k12.in.us/index.cfm.
During the past summer, I converted the HTML Table I was using over to
Flash and Flash Remoting.

User Authentication Methods

2005-02-11 Thread Graham Pearson

what other methods can be used within a Coldfusion Application.

With this one application I need to know that the user who entered the
username/password is actually the person and not someone who has

2005-02-10 Thread Graham Pearson
What are you looking for. I have been doing SNPP/SMS to Alphanumeric
Pagers and Digital Cellphones for the past 5 years with Coldfusion. I
have Coldfusion talking directly to the SNPP Server that various
carriers operate if the server is available via the internet, if not
then I have coldfusion talk to our unix server which write a file in a
protected directory and the Unix Server dials the SNPP server via phone
lines to delivers the text message.

CFMail - Changing Helo Reported Name

Under CF6 is it possible to change the Reported Helo command form within
the cfmail tag. Our Network Server Administrator just upgraded the Mail

Coldfusion is being rejected because the Helo is not a
fully qualified domain name. Anyone have any ideas?

Re: CFMX server is crashing

2004-11-20 Thread Graham Pearson
Are you using ODBC or Access Datasources on the CFMX server. After doing alot
of research on this matter, I found out that their is a Bug in the MDAC and
when the ODBC or Access Datasources either update, delete or insert info to
the database, it will close the JRUN connection.

Once I converted thise to Non-ODBC or Access datasources, CFMX has not
crashed.

Re: Update multiple rows

2004-11-17 Thread Graham Pearson
Check out www.yessoftware.com for a Program called CodeCharge Studio which
I usee to create all of my data entry screens. The money I used to purchase
this program allows me to save time and not worry about validation or user
entry issues as it handles this, I then take their code and wrap my own
headers/footers around the application and have a finished product.

CFMX and Access Databases

2004-11-16 Thread Graham Pearson
Has anyone found a solution to using MS Access Databases with CFMX 6.1. I
have 4 access databases which everytime cfmx 6.1 tries to do an
update/delete query I get a TCP/IP Connection timeout error message and
JRUN closes connection. I am slowly converting these to mysql or mssql but
at the present time I need these to run. These applications worked with
CFMX 6.0 so I am puzzled.

I have been searching trying to find JDBC Driver for access and use the
similiar method that I am using to connect to the mysql server via the jdbc
driver.

Any Ideas?

I just did the upgrade and have a cfmx_updater directory which from what I
read, the cfserver has been updated. But I am unable to verify this as
cfinfo -info, cfadministrator and #server# still shows 6,1,0,63958. Anyway
to officially know if the updater did its job.

Can someone Explain this Error Message

2004-11-03 Thread Graham Pearson
I am getting an error message which states:

Branch target offset too large for short

The first line of the stack trace reads

org.apache.bcel.generic.ClassGenException: Brnach target offset too large
for short

The error message will appear when I include the following line and if I
comment out this line I will not get the above error message.

I have also copied this line above from another section which is identical
as I am creating an RTF File which contains a School Report Card which is
apart of my Coldfusion Based Student Information System. Anyone have any ideas?

Re: CSV import into DB

2004-10-15 Thread Graham Pearson
Here is how I do it through Coldfusion and have not had any problems with
it. Basically I ask the user to sleect their file through a Form Object,
and The CFFile to Upload this file and then to read the file uploaded. Next
I create Objects and Reach each line into an Array. I then have a section
to read the first line of the array and set variables for the specific
header fields that I want to import. Last I loop over the Length of the
array and Insert it into the datasource/table that I need it to go into.

Re: Array Question

2004-10-11 Thread Graham Pearson
If I just try to do the ArrayDeleteAt(Session.UserCart, 3) within an
ArrayLength of 4 I get the following message:

The element at Position 1, of Dimension 2, of an array object used as part
of an _expression_, cannot be found.

Before I tried to delete one of the items from the cart, I had the
following in the Array:

Element 1 has the Array Header Info which has 7 child elements in it which
are ProductID, ProductName, ProductOptionID, ProductOptionName,
ProductQuantity, ProductOptionPrice, ProductPrice

Element2 has 1, USA Flag Shirt, 0, 0, 1, 0, 0.01
Element3 has 2, 8" Round Wall Clock, 1, w/ Chapter Patch, 2, 0, 19.95
Element4 has 3, 10" Round Wall Clock, 0, 0, 3, 0, 16.95

And when I delete Element 3 which was placed in the Cart by accident, the
cfdump shows that element4 has moved up to element3 and then shows element4
as being empty which produces the above error message.

Array Question

2004-10-11 Thread Graham Pearson
Group:

I have been trying to learn array's and have a problem that I am unable to
solve.

I have a 2 Dimension Array that has for this example a length of 5. I am
needing to delete POS 3 of the array and then restructure the array with
the new length of 4. Any Direction on this issue as I am at a loss.

Version Management Inquiry

Group:

On one of my projects I am working with a fellow coldfusion developer and I
am wondering how other small groups deal with the item of 2 or so
developers working on the same overall project. How does these small groups
make sure that files with changes do not get overwritten and have work
losts. At the present time, we are just communicating and blocking out time
where we will not be in a specific file or directory so the changes made
will not be lost or overwritten?

Ideas?

Re: fancy multipart email

2004-01-07 Thread Graham Pearson
I am using CFMX Version 6,1,0,63958 and have been sending Multipart Email Messages through Coldfusion for the past 3 months without any problems. Now one thing that I do which is different than everyone else, is I do not use cfmail to handle this task. I have been using a Freeware piece of software created by Intrafoundation Software which does ALL of my POP3/SMTP Routines and can do HTTP, IMAP, NNTP, FTP, WHOIS, FINGER, etc.

At one point I had issues like alot of others with cfmail and moved to this piece of software almost 2 years now and have had no problems since. I have just recently configured a cfm page to send multipart emails with this software.

RE: CFMX + Remoting Assistance Needed

2003-08-04 Thread Graham Pearson
Doing some more testing on this resulted in:

If I make an addition to c:\winnt\system32\drivers\etc\host file and
resolve the domain to 127.0.0.1 the flash remoting application will work
from the console but would not work from a remote machine. I added various
cflog tags and with the domain resolving to 127.0.0.1 it writes all of the
cflog entries with the respected information. Now if I remove the entry in
the hosts file all of the cflog tags which have been put in the index.cfm
page will be written to the log but all of the cflog tags in the .cfc file
which I am calling do not get written to the log.

Any additional Information (First time doing a RIA and treading water big time)

CFMX + Remoting Assistance Needed

2003-08-04 Thread Graham Pearson
I am working on an application which I have working on my development
machine which uses CFMX (in Standalone Mode) and Visnetic Website Pro. I am
able on the local machine view all of the Flash Remoting Stuff and the site
is running smooth. Now I have a Semi-Production Server which is the same as
my development machine that I have been using to test my code before it
goes live and the code works from the local console on this machine as
well. My Problem is when I view the site from a remote location the Flash
Remoting Stuff does not work. All of the .swf's are on the same machine in
the same directory as the .cfm pages.

Is their a way to debug remotely why the Flash stuff does not work on a
remote computer browsing the site and why it works from sitting at the console?

CFMX Inquiry

2003-08-01 Thread Graham Pearson
I am looking into putting in acouple of new servers for this next school
year and wanted to know if CFMX Professional would take advantage of a Dual
Processor System or would I just be wasting money by going to a dual
processor system to serve cfml pages.

CFMX Inquiry (Problem)

2003-06-30 Thread Graham Pearson
I have ran into a strange problem this morning with CFMX and I am
unable to find a solution to this.

I am running CFMX with Apache under Windows and in one of my
applications I have made a change to the mainpage.cfm with an
command on the 4th line. When I login to this application I get the
entire mainpage.cfm contents. I have looked through the cfmx directory
to try and find where the cached pages are located at without any
success. Anyone have the Path to where these cached pages are at?

Creating XML Packet with CF5

2003-05-30 Thread Graham Pearson
In one of my applications I am trying to send information to another server
via xml. I am currently using CF5 for this application and looking for
resources on how to create an XML packet that when called from another
server will display the correct format so the other application can read
the packet in and display it. I have tried the cfwddx tag but the other
server can not understand the wddx packet or I do not know how to use the
other software to deserialize the wddx packet.

If I try to create the xml packet in cfcode, the cfml page will break when
it gets to in my code and says that it is an invalid token.

Any Ideas?

CFML Bug or Not? Anyone know

2002-11-05 Thread Graham Pearson
I have been writing my own web based calendaring system and have been able
to duplicate a problem that I have been receiving which I am unable to solve.

Problem is if one of the event administrators add's an event and it happens
to put in a comma the page breaks with the following error message:

#Left(right(Variables.NewEvent, Variables.EventCount - 2) , 20)#
Parameter 2 of functio nRight which is now -1 must be a positive interger.
Line 393 colume 68

Here is the cfloop code where it breaks. Line 388 is the first line

#Left(Variabels.EventGlance, 2)# - #Len(Right(Variables.NewEvent,
Variables.EventCount - 3), 20)#

An example would be Http://calendar.zebras.net and viewing the current
month. The first event shows 6 - 30pm beofre the 01- Sat Preparation.

The entire event should be PTO meeting@Columbia, 6:30PM instead it is
splitting the event title at the comma.

Any Ideas

COM Objects

2002-04-16 Thread Graham Pearson

Group:

I am slowly working on on SNPP with ColdFusion and have found a COM object
to handle some of the traffic. Below is my code that I am currently using.
Question is with COM objects, is their a standard listing on commands that
has been published that I can use for reference. I am wanting to retrieve
information back from the page object and depending on what the first 3
characters are, depends on what page gets displayed. I have tried to do a
Left(page, 3) and set that to a variable which produced a blank variable.
Then I tried to do a Left(HTMLCodeFormat(page), 3) to see if this worked
and received the same blank variable back.

Any Ideas.

Coldfusion and SNPP

2002-04-15 Thread Graham Pearson

Group:

Has anyone worked with SNPP (Simple Network Paging Protocol) and
ColdFusion. I have a Internet Paging Gateway System that at the present
time FTP's a File to my paging server which sends the message via TAP. I am
looking to go to SNPP if I can find resources to make this switch.

Any Suggestions.

This is the first time that I have to test for a NULL Value in MSSQL to
retrieve a record set. However, at my present knowledge level, I am unable
to retrieve this record set. Anyone have pointers on how I can do this?

I am looking at qforms for my 6 Related Select Drop Down boxes, however I
am not into javascript. All of my information for the related select boxes
are in various queries. How would I take those queries and put them into

Select Boxes Populating another select box

2002-03-13 Thread Graham Pearson

CF-Talk,

I am looking for code that for an application that I am working on that
when a user selects a Department from an DropDown Menu, that it
automatically populates another dropdown menu based on what was selected in
the first select box. Is their a way to handle this. Currently I am having
the user press submit on the first select box so it can populate the second
select box to get the Department:SubDepartment value

CFApplication

2002-03-05 Thread Graham Pearson

From what I have understood, CFAPPLICATION by default will not expire
client variables on browser close. I have clientmanagement turned on
session management turned off, client storage to an odbc datasource and set
client cookies turned off.

What I am trying to do is pass CFID and CFTOKEN on each link, but want to
test for this value and if the CGLOBAL.LVISIT from the client storage
tables is greater than 10 minutes then redirect them back to the main
index.cfm page.

Any Ideas
