Re: [Chevelle-list] 66 327
I think if you look again, it's the number "1". The letter "I" was used to represent the number "1" on pre 69 engine build date stampings but beginning in 1969 the number "1" was beginning to be used; like these http://chevellestuff.net/1969/engines/index.htm. A suffix code of "IHA" makes no sense and neither would a data of T052 - not enough numbers to make a mm/dd code. Dealers would not have installed a warranty engine with a date coded and suffix stamped engine. The warranty was only 2 years or 24000 miles for 1966 Chevelles. Sounds more like someone stamped a 1969 engine suffix code (or tried to) on the engine block but without a photo. If you have a photo of the engine pad, could email it to me off list at ad...@chevellestuff.net? I use Goodmark metal on all my personal and customer vehicles if I can't use NOS. My only qualm that I have is I put a full quarter on my 71 and a customers 70 (both in that cars case) and they are ever so slightly different on the very edge going down the top. It doesn't matter that much if you are replacing both sides, the 66-67 quarters are second to none, they were spot on. I have used a few of their Mopar parts and it was great stuff. Re: [Chevelle-list] 66 rewired
I did the painless system on my 67. It was ok, but I am in electronics. The painless system uses the same color codes as the original harness and many features of the new micro-fuse blocks in current production cars and trucks. It comes down to a few questions like Brad said. What do you want such as 14 circuits? Do you think you can pigtail and splice the harness back in? I was doing mine one evening and a skunk scampered by the garage door. We had a few tense moments. mike --- On Thu, 7/10/08, [EMAIL PROTECTED] <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > Subject: Re: [Chevelle-list] 66 rewired > To: chevelle-list@chevelles.net > Date: Thursday, July 10, 2008, 9:29 AM > I haven't completely rewired my carbut I've done > a fair share of work on it. Re: [Chevelle-list] 66 rewired
Dale, M&H actually makes the OEM dash harness, but with new blade style fuses. I don't know if they will add circuits though. I was going to replace my dash harness with the blade one, but my original harness was in perfect shape, so I just reused it. I know M&H will also make the engine harness ready for HEI and not points. I personally installed their rear harness and it couldn't of worked any better...when I use to work at True Connections, we sold tons of their harness's, and I don't remember one complaint from them. So a big thumbs up from me! :o) -Tim -Original Message- From: Dale <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: 'The Chevelle Mailing List' Sent: Thu, 10 Jul 2008 7:44 am Subject: Re: [Chevelle-list] 66 rewired If you want OEM replacement stuff, try M&H Electric Fabricators at http://www.wiringharness.com/.  They are expensive but are reported to be very, very good quality. If you’re adding or want additional circuits there are any number of universal kits available that include the newer spade fuses. Re: [Chevelle-list] 66/67 Door Panels...
Screws are original. They look good in my opinion. As far as other options, you can do whatever you like. But if you need to remove the panel, screws are easy. Drill new holes as the old holes are probably worn out or too big. You can drill right thru the panel and door with a drill half the size of the screw. - Original Message - From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: chevelle-list@chevelles.net Sent: Saturday, July 05, 2008 1:00 PM Subject: Re: [Chevelle-list] 66/67 Door Panels... There isn't a dash bolt kit, but there is a interior screw kit. It comes with the screws that attach the lower dash to the upper dash, but not the bolts. Hi Tim, I'm doing fine, just trying to get the Chevelle down the road. I got it running today and it sounds just as good as it did on the dyno! Except for a short list of necessary parts, it's almost ready for the maiden voyage! If you don't mind, I'd appreciate some pictures of your hood. Pictures are always a good thing! Thanks. Yeah I know how you are Mike! I guess I'll have to do more research on the 'ol net until I can come up with something. [Chevelle-list] 66 gone to be fixed
Two years ago I got a restored 1966 Chevelle SS (clone) from my Son and Daughter-in-law for Fathers Day. The shop that did the work really stuck it to him and there were many problems that were promised to be resolved but never were. Today the next chapter of the story began, at 9:00 am Frank and Lisa from Prodigy Customs arrived and picked up my 66 and my sons 69 Camaro for a trip to Florida to have all the problems repaired. [Chevelle-list] 66 Chevelle Bucket Seats for sale
I have had these stored for 10 years. I was told they were 66 Chevelle SS seats, might fit 66 GTO & others. I read the 66 was one year only. They have the metal backs, they need foam & covers, the springs are like new, slides work. I may put them on Ebay someday, but I will not ship them. They have to be picked up in Dallas, TX. $225.00 firm . Pics, here: http://albums.photo.epson.com/j/AlbumIndex?u=4264468&a=32568641&f=

Re: [Chevelle-list] 66 Rear Quarter Extension Gasket Question
Rich, If you look in your 66 Fisher body service manual, section 9-29 view "A" item number 3 from the factory there was a foam type gasket that lay in the groove that runs around the outer edge of the quater extension where it meets with the quarter panel. It act as a cushon between the two surfaces and keeps the paint from chipping when the two pieces are drawn together, and also act as a water seal. It is called a Paint Chip Gasket, that is the name of it in the Fisher Body Manual. The replacement doesn't look like the original. I figured it out yesterday when I removed my rear quarter extensions to reseal, I have had a small leak for the last 9 years and finally got around to fixing it. The new gasket looks like this U> and id made of rubber It clips around the lower edge and the flat taper part lay across the groove, unlike the factory original that lays IN the groove and was made of a foam type material. Hope that helps. Rocky --- Malibu <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > Rocky, when I put my '66 back together I don't > recall a gasket called a > paint chip gasket. Pull up the bolts evenly so pump arm stays centered over cam shaft rod. gm66 --- [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: From: "Dale" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "'The Chevelle Mailing List'" Subject: Re: [Chevelle-list] 66 396 fule pump replacement Date: Mon, 29 Jan 2007 14:15:22 -0600 Basically the same. The big block does not have a bolt in the front of the engine block you can remove to thread a longer bolt into to keep the fuel pump rod up and out of the way like the small block. The big block has a plug below the fuel pump mounting boss to remove the fuel pump rod but you shouldn't have to bother with that unless you want to have someone hold a thin rod up against the fuel pump rod when you install the pump - much like the procedure above for a small block. There is no 'adapter' plate to remove if needed like the small block, the pump bolts directly to the machined area on the block. These steps should do it. 1. Ensure new pump is correct with correct fuel line sizes and connection angles. If not correct, make it so. 2. Install gasket on new pump and set aside to dry. 3. Disconnect negative terminal on battery. (I just always do.) 4. Disconnect fuel lines on pump and be prepared for draining fuel. 5. Remove two bolts that mount the pump and remove. 6. Clean gasket mounting surface on block as needed. 7. Optional: Remove plug below fuel pump to allow access to fuel pump rod and either place some grease on the camshaft end of rod to keep it in place or have someone with a thin, stiff piece of wire push the rod up against the camshaft when installing new pump. Either way, the rod needs to be held up so arm of fuel pump can be inserted below it 8. With at least one (preferably both) bolts in the new pump, install pump and start the two bolts evenly ensuring the fuel pump rod is properly positioned on top of the fuel pump actuating lever. 9. Snug down the two fuel pump mounting bolts. 10. Reattach fuel lines - replace rubber line from tank line to pump if necessary. 11. Reinstall fuel pump rod plug if removed in step 7. 12.
