Don't you think an expert should do this? You have no clue how to do this
yet you think you'll be able to assure your company about the "security" of
the firewall in one day? This would be funny if it were not true. And
companies wonder why they get hacked!

Thats a good one Brad. You can try to fool yourself but I hate to tell you
your underhanded tactics are just as low (actually lower as your supposed to
be a "reputable" CCIE) than the people who post posing as customers saying
"hey, go check out this web site, the have great test prep material, all the
while they are the ones selling the material. Just because you hid your
lack of ethics in the guise of a response to a question doesn't change what
you've done. Let's look at your post...

BEllis Quote:
If you want the lowest price simulator available, you should go with the
simline2. It has S/T interfaces so it goes nicely with 2503s, 2504s, etc.
Paul B. (the owner of groupstudy) also bought one of these for his home lab.
I believe he posted about it somewhere. Check the archives:

Now lets see... you speak as to how great the simline2 is. You refer to how

you are affiliated with that site and that YOU WILL directly line your
pocket with cash when the purchase is made. You make no mention that Cheap
ISDN (remember, you get what you pay for) is actually Network Learning.
Now how this is not deceptive to you? Have you ever heard of full
disclosure? Or I guess to you speaking as if this is something you just
"heard" about and hiding the fact that you'll make lots of cash on the sale
is not being deceptive? How about let's disclose in your future "unbiased

That would be the honest, upright thing to do!

Re: What is the definition of Broadband ISDN ? [7:34037]

2002-02-01 Thread c1sc0k1d

I imagine your referring to IDSL (ISDN DSL). IDSL is DSL at 144 kbps. IDSL
uses ISDN transmission coding, bundling together both ISDN channels and
voice all on one circuit. IDSL does not use any kind of dial up nor involve
per-call fees. For those that live too far for regular DSL, IDSL may be the
only DSL option. IDSL tends to be priced at a rather higher rate per bit of
speed, than any regular DSL. IDSL can still be a very satisfactory solution
for data transmission compared to the alternatives (modem), coping very well
with online gaming, and medium quality streaming audio/video.

It's sad that you are supposedly a CCIE candidate and you cannot read the
web site stating what equipment you are expected to know for the exam. On
top of that you request people violate the NDA they signed by telling you
the exact composite of the rack!

There is a CCNA/CCNP study group in Atlanta and the web site link is below.
I never attended as you must pay per meeting and the knowledge level seemed
a little low for me. I didn't see the point of paying $10 per meeting for
me to go teach people. It might be of use to you though.

Re: I would like to hear from those who have taken the CCIE lab [7:31629]

2002-01-11 Thread c1sc0k1d

I just took the lab in December and here are the tasks I had to do. I
totally screwed up task 4 and 10. I can't guarantee you'll have the same
tasks but you never know. I would make sure you can perform these anyway.
Good Luck!

---CCIE One Day Lab--

1. Describe the history of the papacy from its origin to the present
day, concentrating especially, but not exclusively, on its social,
political, economic, religious, and philosophical impact on Europe,
Asia, America, and Africa. Be brief, concise, and specific.

2. You have been provided with a razor blade, a piece of gauze, and a
bottle of Jack Daniels. Remove your appendix. Do not suture until your
work has been inspected. You have 10 minutes.

3. 2500 riot-crazed aborigines are storming the room. Calm them. You
may use any ancient language except Latin or Greek.

4. Create life. Estimate the differences in subsequent human culture
if this form of life had developed 500 million years earlier, with
special attention to its probable effect on the English Parliamentary
System. Prove your thesis.

5. Write a piano concerto. Orchestrate and perform it with flute and
drum. You will find a piano under your chair.

6. Based on your knowledge of their works, evaluate the emotional
stability, degree of adjustment, and repressed frustrations of each of
the following:

a. Alexander of Aphrodisias
b. Ramses II
c. Gregory of Nicea
d. Iammurati

Support your evaluation with quotations from each man's work, making
appropriate references. It is not necessary to translate.

7. Estimate the sociological problems which might accompany the end of
the world. Construct an experiment to test your theory.

8. Define management. Define Science. How do they relate? Why?
Create a generalized algorithm to optimize all managerial decisions.
Assuming an IBM 3270 with 257 Radio Shack and Panasonic terminals and
each terminal to activate your algorithm. Design the communications
interface and all the necessary control programs.

9. The disassembled parts of a high-powered rifle have been placed in a
box on your desk. You will also find an instruction manual printed in
Swahili. In 5 minutes, a hungry Bengal tiger will be admitted to the
room. Take whatever action you feel appropriate. Be prepared to
justify your decision.

10. There is a red telephone on the desk beside you. Start WWIII.
Report at length on its socio-political effects, if any.

11. Take a position for or against truth. Prove the validity of your
position.

12. Explain the nature of matter. Include in your answer an evaluation
of the impact of the development of mathematics on science.

13. Sketch the development of human thought. Estimate its
significance. Compare this with the development of any other kind of
thought.

Extra Credit:

Define the universe. Give three examples.

therefore the route is not advertised to any external peers.

I guess the obvious question that you didn't address is why are you trying
to summarize the 10 network on different routers... or at all for that
matter?

I think it's been hashed out on this list before that this survey is pretty
ridiculous. Some of the numbers might be slightly representative of the big
cities, others are a laugh. A search of the archive should produce the
various arguements.

Well I dunno Chuck... that's kinda hard. That requires...

1. Searching
2. Reading
3. Understanding
4. Applying

Lot's of people who come here don't want any part of that. They just want
someone else to type out the config so they can paste it and look good to
the boss, which Marc has so kindly done.

RR's are normally used in small to medium sized implementations.
Confederations are normally used in large implementations. I imagine on the

Re: Buying IOS Software [7:29761]

AFAIK, there is no such thing as buying used IOS software. I don't think
there is any provision for selling or otherwise transferring the software in
the license agreement. Even if you buy a used router with the IOS on it,
you are responsible for obtaining the appropriate "new" IOS license.

You can do most things from both labs with 9 routers. Depending on which
models you have you might have to skip some tasks but you should be able to
do most of the core stuff.

Re: That Friday Follies Question... [7:29473]

2001-12-18 Thread c1sc0k1d

AFAIK, there is only one way to summarize with rip and igrp and that is by
creating a static and redistributing the static. Since that is not possible
and since we cannot use the default network command we must have an ospf
interface that shares the /27 igrp network to get routes to pass. That
could be performed with secondary addresses or a tunnel interface (or a
frame subinterface). I think for igrp to advertise on the secondary address
method, it also needs to be configured to advertised on the primary,
although I could be mistaken. I know it's that way for eigrp.
