Hi, It looks like the IOS has given you the answer: "Command rejected: One or more ports is already configured as a trunk port." And the documentation confirms that you cannot configure multi-VLAN and trunk ports on the same 2900XL/3500XL switch. As far as boot from FLASH and run from RAM versions, the best I could get without hanging during reload was 12.0(8) on the 3104s and 3204s. The 3102s for some reason had no problems with 12.0(9). I have since replaced all my 3000's, so I cannot speak about 12.1 or 12.2. Don't forget the MZMaker utility. It allows you to compress IOS that is run from RAM. Most of the new 12.1 & 12.2 share RAM and FLASH resources in the 2500 series line-up. Unlike the 2500s, the 3000's are limited to 8 FLASH and 16 RAM. All the best !!! I recently attended an IP Telephony class at Mentor Technologies and it was a terrible class. The instructor (who turned out to be the VP of sales) was not very knowledgable about the product, although he did have a good deal of background on CVOICE. The entire class was very frustrated and I know the three of us from my company complained to both Cisco and our Mentor rep. After a few months of going back and forth, we've finally been a free class to replace the one we took. Yipe. I just now noticed this thread, and it breaks my heart to hear stories like this. Global Knowledge classes are guaranteed. I'm not sure Heather could get her money back inasmuch as she did sit the entire class, but I am certain they will let her sit the class again with a more experienced instructor. Hey, I'm teaching BSCN in Arlington, VA for Global Knowledge the week of April 23 . . . not scheduled for any Texas trips any time soon. For future reference, Global Knowledge WILL refund your money or reschedule you if you return your materials to the instructor by the end of the first day. Instructors are supposed to emphasize that during the introductory remarks. When you schedule the class, talk to the customer service people and ask them about the instructor. The best questions to ask are, "how long has this person been a Cisco-certified instructor," and "how many times has this person taught this class." The instructor schedules are published about a month in advance of the classes. I hope you won't get a bad impression of all Global Knowledge instructors because of this one. I have had the distinct pleasure of auditing BSCN, CATM and OSPF/BGP classes since joining Global Knowledge, and the instructors in each case were outstanding in every way, but beyond outstanding in terms of technical knowledge. And I'm a tough critic, believe me. For example, how about having CATM taught by someone who participated in the development of the protocols as a member of the ATM Forum working groups? Or BGP taught by someone whose consulting practice focuses on designing networks for national ISPs. Your instructor's actions don't sound much in line with the real world. Version 13 does not exist & the IOS versions are only up to 12.1.(7). The closest GD is 12.0(9) & Write Mem works on my 12.1(x) 4500 router. Lastly- I cannot believe someone teaching Routing 2.0 class would cover RIP & not have time to cover BGP or OSPF. I'm taking that test Thursday & my co-workers (some have taken it a recent as last week) tell me the exam is 80% BGP & 20% OSPF. RIP is a CCNA topic. I'd be inclined to call Global Knowledge about this class. I get just under $5,000 a year in training money & this would infuriate me to know I blew a chance getting ahead... Hi Stuart, The 12.0.7-XK1 is only supported on 2610-2621 and not the two models that you have have mentioned. Is there any particular reason that you need this image?? You are correct in that the image requires 32MB of DRAM and 8MD of Flash The 2600 series has two slots for DRAM, so if they are both full you are going to have to change them for 2 x 16MB. Hi, You can go to the cisco web site and browse through the release notes/order by product # pages. These pages contain many tables cross referencing features to which feature set they are in. Or you can use Feature Navigator (need CCO) to choose features you need and it will tell you what IOS has them. On the last page, if you select ALL release, the output will contain the feature set name, image name, and memory requirements.
