* Mark Asselstine [Tue, 27 Nov 2007 21:13:15 -0500]: Adeodato, I have released version 0.9.1 that should close this bug as well as #434426: kflickr: Wrong german translation (Antriebskraft) for button Upload Please uprev to version 0.9.1. As well in order to close #451034: It does not see the thumbnail be sure to add kdebase-kio-plugins package as a runtime dependency. I was hoping to hear back from Luciano to confirm this but I suspect this was the issue as I have not heard back and I usually assume no news is good news. So hopefully 0.9.1 should close all outstanding bugs :) Thanks a lot, really! I've prepared and uploaded a package. -- Adeodato Simó dato at net.com.org.es Debian Developer adeodato at debian.org The reader this message encounters not failing to understand is cursed.

Bug#422141: viewcvs: Etch commitid fix has bad package version
reopen 422141 quit Hello Marc, I am reopening this bug because your fix for viewcvs commitid bug did not get to etch due to a wrong version number. As François Deppierraz wrote, The latest release of this package has a wrong version number (0.9.2+cvs.1.0.dev.2004.07.28-4.1~0etch1) which is understood as inferior to the previous one (0.9.2+cvs.1.0.dev.2004.07.28-4.1) and thus is not installed by default under Debian etch. We should really try to adress this issue in the next point release. Cheers, -- Bill. [EMAIL PROTECTED] Imagine a large red swirl here. signature.asc Description: Digital signature

Bug#297765: Package should be named libmime-tools-perl, not libmime-perl

Package: libmime-perl Version: 5.417-1 Severity: wishlist The CPAN package is named MIME-tools, so following the unofficial naming convention for Debian Perl packages, the Debian package should probably really be named libmime-tools-perl. Quoting the Debian Perl Policy: 4.2 Module Package Names Perl module packages should be named for the primary module provided. The naming convention for module Foo::Bar is libfoo-bar-perl. Packages which include multiple modules may additionally include provides for those modules using the same convention. There is actually no real primary module in the MIME-Tools distribution, and I suppose 'libmime-perl' (which dates back to 1997) can be seen as an approximation. For a fresh start, I'd probably go with mime-tools-perl as both the source and the binary package name. However, I don't think this is worth the hassle of renaming. (If the name is changed, just Providing libmime-perl isn't enough because there are versioned dependencies in the archive. So we'd need a transitional libmime-perl package depending on the new package name.) I'm inclined to tag this 'wontfix', but I'd appreciate opinions from other members of the Debian Perl Group, the current mime-tools maintainer. Why should I? I was using kernel-package, and its maintainer reassigned the bug to kernel-headers. If you think this package or its successors are not responsible for the fact that kernel-package documentation and kernel-headers behavior do not match, please reassign the bug to the package you think is responsible, instead of closing it. reality check on. if nobody would be able to build external modules, we would have the bts full of strange reports. as a matter of fact it is possible. As a matter of fact, I was following what I understood from the documentation of kernel-package - so obviously the documentation is either wrong, or it is hard to understand it with the kind of background that I have. And I do think that documentation for Debian's (Linux) kernel infrastructure should be written in a way that allows not only an experienced developer, but at least an experienced user to compile external modules. the easy way to do it is module-assisstant. i already told that a year ago and no i'm not keen keeping useless bugs open. If that's the best advice we can get, kernel-package's documentation should mention that it should only be used by experience people - it should do that at the places where one finds it, in particular in the description of the modules_image target in the make-kpkg manpage. irc this is even a dup. In which case you should have merged it, not closed. i might come back even grumpier next time when i'll hit the dup ;) no real please use module-assisant and be happy. kernel-package is even no longer a supported way to build linux-2.6 Ah, that's interesting. I don't see any documentation on this in kernel-package in sid, nor a bug report requesting to add it. I do see that kernel-package has quite a lot of rather old bugs (both in terms of submission, and of last modified), but that doesn't mean one shouldn't use the package... Manoj, don't you think you should indicate in your package if development of Debian kernels and kernel-package has so much diverged that it gets hard for you to keep them working together (it seems you don't get support on this from the kernel-package maintainers...) Bug#453434: ITP: pgloader -- loads flat data files into PostgreSQL
Hi, Sorry about bad filled report, it was my first attempt to use reportbug (after a failure of M-x debian-bug-intend-to-package). In fact I'm the main developer of the tool (pgloader), made the packaging and already am in touch with a debian developper for sponsorship! Le Thursday 29 November 2007 19:32:43 Micha Lenk, vous avez écrit : For which values of x, y, and z? You should specify the version here. First to enter debian will be 2.2.5~dev-1, or 2.2.5 if ready by the time I get the packaging completely right :) Upstream Author : Name [EMAIL PROTECTED] You should provide real data about the upstream author here. Dimitri Fontaine [EMAIL PROTECTED], as in --email option and subsequent rebortbug screens. * URL : http://www.example.org/ You should provide a real URL here, i.e. the URL where you downloaded pgloader from. The URL where it is available to download is the following: http://pgfoundry.org/frs/?group_id=192 http://pgfoundry.org/projects/pgloader/ * License : (GPL, LGPL, BSD, MIT/X, etc.) Under which license is pgloader published? BSD. Programming Lang: (C, C++, C#, Perl, Python, etc.) Please investigate the languages really used and provide the information here. Python. Description : loads flat data files into PostgreSQL pgloader imports data from a flat file and insert it into a database table. It uses a flat file per database table, and you can configure as many Sections as you want, each one associating a table name and a data file. . Data are parsed and rewritten, then given to PostgreSQL COPY command. Parsing is necessary for dealing with end of lines and eventual trailing separator characters, and for column reordering: your flat data file may not have the same column order as the databse table has. IMHO you can ommit the second paragraph. It explains implementation details which in this case aren't important for the question whether a administrator/user wants to install this package or not. Fair enough, will shorten the long description entry from debian/control. Bug#417991: Don't include a system monitor in the default profile
Please don't :). Think about how many people will look for the system monitor, think about that they usually look for it in Windows because they want to kill something. Stuff can be killed in GNOME by just trying to close it, it will ask if you want to kill it since it's not responding. People that want to use the system-monitor can go to System -Admin -Monitor. Which IMHO is very intuitive. I would say this is not a bug. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Hm, I only now realized that there really *is* a MIME::Tools module, which is just a frontend for configuring the logging and debugging of the other modules. Since it also contains the primary documentation, I suppose it could be viewed as the primary module, and the name of the binary package should indeed be libmime-tools-perl. Sorry, I was actually re-reading the bug log without noticing that it was no longer assigned to a package, rather it's now at the pseudo-package, where the severity doesn't make all that much sense. I've noticed that security.debian.org, which is composed of three hosts, appears to be resolved by apts so that only one of them, steffani, gets picked. I can't substantiate this with exact log evidence yet (there's an outstanding RT ticket for that), but the system load on that machine is consistently high and network speed low, whereas the other two machines are practically idling in comparison. I've also previously noticed that ftp.us.debian.org traffic seems to concentrate too much on one host, too, ike.egr.msu.edu, but I've got even less evidence there (that and other machines aren't under our control). -- 2. Bug#453321: zilib Bug: Incorrect gzeof() behaviour when reading from uncompressed file
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 Mark Brown wrote: When reading uncompressed files with gzread() the EOF indicator is not always set correctly. The EOF indicator is only set, when the underlying fread() returned 0. This is incorrect, since any return value that is shorter than the nmemb argument may indicate an EOF. The correct behavior is to explicitly check feof() after the fread() determine whether EOF occored. I don't feel that this is a bug. While a short read may indicate EOF it doesn't need to and the additional read should not cause any harm to applications - they need to be able to cope with both short reads and explicit EOF anyway - and I know there are users who want lazy EOF detection to facilitate things like reading from files as they are being written. Please note, that my patch will only change/fix the behavior if gzeof(), not of gzread(). My patch will set the EOF indicator in zlib, when the underlying file had an EOF (by checking feof()). gzread() will still return the short count (and not 0). IMHO gzeof() should have the same semantic than feof(). At the moment it doesn't. Also note, that gzeof()'s semantic is different for compressed and uncompressed files. For compressed files gzeof() may indicate EOF after a short gzread() (if the end-of-file was encountered), whereas for uncompressed files gzeof() will only indicate EOF if the last gzread() got exactly 0 bytes. IMHO gzeof() behavior for uncompressed files is clearly broken, since it differs from * feof()'s behavior when using fread() and from * gzeof()'s behavior when reading from compressed files. My suggested patch fixes this, so that gzeof() always has the same semantic. On an unrelated note, please note that when filing bugs with the BTS you should not CC the maintainer. The maintainer will be notified by the BTS with the bug number that is assigned. alright. Sorry about that. Bug#453516: geany doesn't recognize .debdiff's as difference files
Package: geany Severity: wishlist Geany doesn't recognize .debdiff files as diff's, and so doesn't apply the correct markup to them by default. I requested this upstream some months ago but they refused to add detection for .debdiff extensions arguing that I can edit the configuration files myself :/. I think however that it would be good to have this in Debian as debdiff's are quite used. -- Siegfried-Angel Gevatter Pujals (RainCT) Linux User #438657. Bug#452727: Unable to switch to a language if you don't have the locale installed
Gerfried Fuchs wrote: tag 452727 + wontfix * Emilio Pozuelo Monfort [EMAIL PROTECTED] [2007-11-24 20:16:38 CET]: If you try to change the language in wesnoth and don't have the locale, it will do nothing, printing this warning in the terminal: WARNING: setlocale() failed for es_ES. Building with --enable-dummy-locales and installing them fixes this. Yes - but using that hack only enables it for wesnoth; which is a bad thing IMHO. If someone really wants to use a language one shouldn't be lured into well, then I only have it in this or that application but rather should properly enable it in the system. That doesn't look ideal to me, but installing wesnoth locales isn't ideal either :-) I've talked with upstream about this a while ago and we thought about another approach: The languages that aren't enabled in the system will get greyed out and not selectable. This though needs a bit until it gets implemented. I look forward to see that! I did this in Ubuntu [1] [2] and it worked fine, there have been no reports about anything broken or something. It works fine - for wesnoth only. I am not really convinced that enabling this hack in the wesnoth package is the right approach, I am pretty much for telling the users to enable the locales they want to use systemwide, not narrow themself down to a single application. If this is harmless it would be nice to enable it, since there are users which will want to play wesnoth in a different language than the one they installed the system (this happened to me when trying to play in Spanish, since my system is in English). There is no problem at all with enabling spanish locales next to english ones, too. Thanks for your report anyway, it's appreciated. It's just - in this point we propably disagree. But don't let this hold you back with further reports along these lines. Don't worry, I'll annoy you with my reports as much as I can ;-) Seriously, no probs. And you have even convinced me, although I still don't think a user should install a locale, but I understand that installing them in wesnoth is not the way to go, since if everyone did this we would have all the locales installed in every package :-) Take care, Emilio So long, Rhonda signature.asc Description: OpenPGP digital signature

Bug#453518: jajuk: muted audio on every track until I adjust the volume slider
Package: jajuk Version: 1.4.3~rc3+svn3068-1 Severity: normal I'm giving jajuk a try. Everything looks pretty good, but I have to adjust the volume before I can hear any playback, and I have to do this for every single track. For example, if track A is playing and ends, track B will be start playing (but will be silent) until I move the volume slider. It's as if every track starts muted (but doesn't appear to be muted). As far as I know I have a normal ALSA setup - a single onboard card, etc - and haven't run into this problem with any other audio players. Any ideas? Bug#451094: amavisd-new: logcheck rules don't catch anymore Passed CLEAN and BAD-HEADER
Package: amavisd-new Version: 1:2.5.2-2 Followup-For: Bug #451094 Tags: patch The logcheck rules in /etc/logcheck/ignore.d.server/amavisd-new don't catch anymore some syslog messages generated by amavis. So the following changes make logcheck catch these messages again : In the Passed CLEAN rule : '{1,2}' needs to be changed to '{0,2}' to catch messages with no IP. 'size: [[:xdigit:]]+,' needs to be added before 'queued_as'. 'OK id=[-[:alnum:]]+,' needs to be added after 'queued_as'. In the Passed BAD-HEADER rule : conditionnal Resent-Message-ID copied from CLEAN rule. 'size' and 'OK id' added as well. Patch attached.
