I tried the last two versions of the tool (dated 2020-07-17 and 2020-07-19). Documentor finds my LMS server and shows the number of artists (22010), albums (5111) and songs (80286). I can also hear the hard drives of the LMS server working heavily for several minutes. But suddenly Documentor simply dies quietly - no error messages. All tests were done on my main PC. Today I tried Documentor on my laptop, but after 30-45 minutes Documentor vanishes in the same way as on my main PC. I do not know if my LMS server (Synology DiskStation DS213+) is too weak to respond in a reasonable time for Documentor. I have a Raspberry Pi 3b lying around which I could configure to run LMS (with the music still on the DS213). Maybe this will work better. Thanks - I did install that plugin ages ago and don't use it at the moment. It's now uninstalled and I'll do another scan in the next few days to see if that speeds things up. That gives me both analogue and digital outputs, as on the Duet Receiver. This may be wishful thinking, but I feel there is better definition of the treble sounds from the analogue output. Analogue outputs go into a Speakercraft 6-zone matrix amplifier system delivering sound to ceiling speakers around the house which I would rate as mid-fi (lots better than cheap junk, but not top of the range). The digital output goes into the home theatre's Yamaha amplifier and, as far as I can tell, is just the same as from the Duet Receiver. That is a proper hi-fi system, and sounds great (to me). From comments in other forum threads it seems the DAC board changes all outputs to a specific sample rate, which cannot be changed by its sound processing capabilities. But I don't use the sound processing, the drivers already available through piCorePlayer work fine, it all sounds great to me, and the weakest link in the chain is probably my hearing! Since then I've added more RPis to the system: a Pi Zero W running pCP sits in a cupboard and feeds my super-duper Sony noise-cancelling headphones over Bluetooth. That wasn't as easy to set up as the LMS system, but now sits there doing its job 24/7. The latest addition is another Pi with a 7" touch screen, in kiosk mode, using the LMS Material skin as a handy music controller. There were plenty of helpful RPi web sites with the information I needed to get that working nicely. The down sides are that library scan time has gone from about 20 minutes on the old system to around 2 hours. My solution for that is to set it going at night then go to bed! And making a backup of the whole 16GB SD card takes quite a while. On balance, I'm delighted with the system that I call my Juke Box! The version I've just downloaded and run does the job I want very nicely. And Avast tells me I've "discovered a rare file" which is clean! That probably makes your heart glad. In case it's any help - I'm not very skilled or knowledgeable about what's really going on after I click buttons, but I was having strange, varying problems with LMS crashing while doing library scans. My LMS runs and stores its cache (including library.db) on the SD card in a Raspberry Pi and I think it must have been just running out of memory. I expanded the file system to use the card's whole 16 GB and it's worked perfectly ever since. Awesome work, Pete! Great update to "Documenter"! I like the ability to customize the output with tracks and album art, if desired. An addition I would like to see, if possible, is the option to display/not display the online library items (Spotify, in my case) when LMS 8.0.0 is used. raglencross's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=7239 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=112557 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Hi all, some of you with very large collection were experiencing timeouts / crashes when the program was scanning your music library - I've attempted to rewrite the load code to run asynchronously and believe It may help - I can't really test it properly as my collection only has about 5500 tracks with 300 or so albums but mine loads in under 15 seconds. Can those of you having issues please download it and try it out. I'm also taking things like the delay bar away to try and keep everything as simple as possible. I would also like your opinions on whether to remove the scan for servers function as I imagine most of you enter it manually now ( I do ). Let me know how you get on. I'm answering here rather than in the poll thread because I have a suggestion which may or may not be possible... First off the simple album listing is ideal if transferring the PDF to a portable device to take it with you when hunting for a new Album. The formatting could be improved a little by showing the artist on a darker background with a slightly increased row height. Albums listed under an artist could do with reduced row height. Both would make it easier to visually navigate the list. The original listing with album art and tracks is ideal for leisurely browsing at home. 2 x Touch 2 x Radio 2 x Boom 1 x Intel-NUC server/squeezelite running LMS 7.92 (from nightlies) on Windows 10 1 X Odroid-XU4 server/squeezelite running LMS 7.91 on Ubuntu 16.04 1 x iMac server running macos Hich Sierra WaveIO USB into Lavry DA-10 DAC Starfish Pre-amp : Based on NAIM NAC 72 Heavily modified NAIM NAP 250 Power-amp Behringer DEQ2496 Linn Isobarik DMS bobertuk's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=30376 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=112557 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] LMS Documenter Part II
Just to update you know why the server discovery doesn't work when the server is on the same box as the Documenter. It's because you can't have two processes listening on the same ip address/port combination. The way LMS works is, it listens for client requests on UDP port 3483 and returns what they call a response packet back to any client requests, the response packet contains the port number and other stuff neccesary for a connection. But if the client is running on the same box as the server there is a conflict because you end up with two identical ip/port combinations. So if you have this local setup you have to enter it manually. Personally I have a raspberry pi fitted with a HiFiBerry DAC and an external drive for my music running 24/7 on my LAN - it's pretty easy to setup and sounds amazing through my Meridian setup. There's plenty on here that explains how to set this up. We can't stop here this is bat country. Hi Pete, the "Scan for LMS servers" works on my system (LMS is running on a Synology NAS). It takes around 30-40 seconds to find the LMS server. Unfortunately, "Scan Music Library" fails with an error (unfortunately, too, my systems uses german language): 30965 Code: Informationen über das Aufrufen von JIT-Debuggen anstelle dieses Dialogfelds finden Sie am Ende dieser Meldung. ** Ausnahmetext ** System.Net.WebException: Die Anfrage wurde abgebrochen: Timeout für Vorgang überschritten. bei System.Net.WebClient.UploadDataInternal(Uri address, String method, Byte[] data, WebRequest& request) bei System.Net.WebClient.UploadString(Uri address, String method, String data) bei System.Net.WebClient.UploadString(String address, String data) bei LMS.LMSDocumenter.btnScanMusicLibrary_Click(Object sender, EventArgs e) bei System.Windows.Forms.Control.OnClick(EventArgs e) bei System.Windows.Forms.Button.OnClick(EventArgs e) bei System.Windows.Forms.Button.OnMouseUp(MouseEventArgs mevent) bei System.Windows.Forms.Control.WmMouseUp(Message& m, MouseButtons button, Int32 clicks) bei System.Windows.Forms.Control.WndProc(Message& m) bei System.Windows.Forms.ButtonBase.WndProc(Message& m) bei System.Windows.Forms.Button.WndProc(Message& m) bei System.Windows.Forms.Control.ControlNativeWindow.OnMessage(Message& m) bei System.Windows.Forms.Control.ControlNativeWindow.WndProc(Message& m) bei System.Windows.Forms.NativeWindow.Callback(IntPtr hWnd, Int32 msg, IntPtr wparam, IntPtr lparam) ** Geladene Assemblys ** mscorlib Assembly-Version: 4.0.0.0. Re: [slim] LMS Documenter Part II
Hi all, I just installed Logitech Media Server on my Windows 10 machine and I'm receiving the same error as you guys. If I stop the server on the Windows 10 machine the problem goes away. I'll have to investigate why. I've tried stopping the server on my Pi while leaving the Windows one running but it doesn't make any difference. I've never used Windows as a server for LMS before which is why this error surprises me - I will get to the bottom of it. Sorry for the let down. We can't stop here this is bat country. From what you say regarding your own home network, would I be correct in saying that your program is not designed for users who are running it on the PC that has LMS? This second version still doen't work on my PC with LMS but works fine on my laptop on the same LAN. Would it be possible to enter the IP address manually? Using the first version of Documenter I could get a server showing up if I had my iMac running and Documenter went on to produced a valid PDF. I use the iMac infrequently and in this instance use it to keep a complete backup of my music files - LMS runs on it as well. Oddly the server that shows up in Documenter has a completely different IP address to either the windows 10 PC or the iMac. If I run that 'odd' IP address in a web browser (from the win 10 PC) it links to LMS on the PC not the iMac. If I shut down the iMac the server address disappears in Documenter. Re: [slim] LMS Documenter Part II
Hi Pete This looks really useful so I tried it out. Unfortunately I get an Unhandled exception error whilst scanning for LMS. 30953 Text details: Code: See the end of this message for details on invoking just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box. ** Exception Text ** System.Net.Sockets.SocketException (0x80004005): Only one usage of each socket address (protocol/network address/port) is normally permitted at System.Net.Sockets.Socket.DoBind(EndPoint endPointSnapshot, SocketAddress socketAddress) at System.Net.Sockets.Socket.Bind(EndPoint localEP) at System.Net.Sockets.UdpClient..ctor(Int32 port, AddressFamily family) at LMS.LMSServer.ScanForServers() at LMSToPDF.LMSDocumenter.btnScanForServers_Click(Object sender, EventArgs e) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.OnClick(EventArgs e) at System.Windows.Forms.Button.OnClick(EventArgs e) at System.Windows.Forms.Button.OnMouseUp(MouseEventArgs mevent) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.WmMouseUp(Message& m, MouseButtons button, Int32 clicks) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.WndProc(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.ButtonBase.WndProc(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.Button.WndProc(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.ControlNativeWindow.OnMessage(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.ControlNativeWindow.WndProc(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.NativeWindow.Callback(IntPtr hWnd, Int32 msg, IntPtr wparam, IntPtr lparam) ** Loaded Assemblies ** mscorlib Assembly Version: 4.0.0.0 Win32 Version: 4.8.4180.0 built by: NET48REL1LAST_B CodeBase: file:///C:/Windows/Microsoft.NET/Framework/v4.0.30319/mscorlib.dll LMSToPDF Assembly Version: 1.0.0.0 Win32 Version: 1.0.0.0 CodeBase: file:///C:/Users/Mark/Desktop/LMSDocumenter/LMSToPDF.exe System.Windows.Forms Assembly Version: 4.0.0.0 Win32 Version: 4.8.4084.0 built by: NET48REL1 CodeBase: file:///C:/WINDOWS/Microsoft.Net/assembly/GAC_MSIL/System.Windows.Forms/v4.0_4.0.0.0__b77a5c561934e089/System.Windows.Forms.dll System Assembly Version: 4.0.0.0 Win32 Version: 4.8.4084.0 built by: NET48REL1 CodeBase: file:///C:/WINDOWS/Microsoft.Net/assembly/GAC_MSIL/System/v4.0_4.0.0.0__b77a5c561934e089/System.dll System.Drawing Assembly Version: 4.0.0.0 Win32 Version: 4.8.4084.0 built by: NET48REL1 CodeBase: file:///C:/WINDOWS/Microsoft.Net/assembly/GAC_MSIL/System.Drawing/v4.0_4.0.0.0__b03f5f7f11d50a3a/System.Drawing.dll System.Configuration Assembly Version: 4.0.0.0 Win32 Version: 4.8.4084.0 built by: NET48REL1 CodeBase: file:///C:/WINDOWS/Microsoft.Net/assembly/GAC_MSIL/System.Configuration/v4.0_4.0.0.0__b03f5f7f11d50a3a/System.Configuration.dll System.Core Assembly Version: 4.0.0.0 Win32 Version: 4.8.4180.0 built by: NET48REL1LAST_B CodeBase: file:///C:/WINDOWS/Microsoft.Net/assembly/GAC_MSIL/System.Core/v4.0_4.0.0.0__b77a5c561934e089/System.Core.dll System.Xml Assembly Version: 4.0.0.0 Win32 Version: 4.8.4084.0 built by: NET48REL1 CodeBase: file:///C:/WINDOWS/Microsoft.Net/assembly/GAC_MSIL/System.Xml/v4.0_4.0.0.0__b77a5c561934e089/System.Xml.dll Accessibility Assembly Version: 4.0.0.0 Win32 Version: 4.8.4084.0 built by: NET48REL1 CodeBase: file:///C:/WINDOWS/Microsoft.Net/assembly/GAC_MSIL/Accessibility/v4.0_4.0.0.0__b03f5f7f11d50a3a/Accessibility.dll Squeezebox Assembly Version: 1.0.0.0 Win32 Version: 1.0.0.0 CodeBase: file:///C:/Users/Mark/Desktop/LMSDocumenter/Squeezebox.DLL ** JIT Debugging ** To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this application or computer (machine.config) must have the jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section. The application must also be compiled with debugging enabled. For example: When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer rather than be handled by this dialog box. Is there anything I'm doing wrong? Grateful for any advice. Re: [slim] LMS Documenter Part II
Thanks for this works really well. I have a couple of requests / comments: In the "without artwork" list can you make the album title stand out more - maybe bold or slighlty larger font or different colour? This would make the title easier to pick out from the tracks. A simplified output with just Artist and Album title would be really useful. This is for use on the phone when out browsing so I can do a "have I got this album" look up quickly - currently the with tracks list is 7.5Mbyte and has 1120 pages so a bit clumbersome for use on the phone. steve-g's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=52057 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=112557 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
