Re: [Dx4win] Importing .adi files and converting them to DXL file format

2022-11-06 Thread LEE HALLIN
Jim,

In addition to what Mike and Paul said:

If you want more selection choices and/or possibly more fields filled into
DX4WIN from LOTW, you might want to try K1MU's site at
https://www.rickmurphy.net/lotwquery.htm. It shows a full screen of parameters
you can fill in to narrow what it downloads for you (you can just hit SUBMIT if
you like). It will also create a lowreport.adi (or lotwreport (x).adi) file in
your default download area. Once you run the query and a lotwreport.adi file
is created, I would suggest creating a NEW .DXL file (with a unique name) in
DX4WIN and import the lotwreport.adi file into it. At any time, you can click
File -> Info to get a summary of information about your log (Number of QSOs,
number of comments,etc).

In case you haven't discovered it yet, DX4WIN has a very cool "filter" feature.
When you are in the QSO window hit . A screen like the QSO screen will
appear with no data filled in. For instance if you wanted to find all QSOs in
AK, simply enter "AK" (no quotes) in the state field and hit . You can
PgDn or PgUP to go through the selected QSOs. If you want to see if you worked
a certain call before, hit F8 and enter the call in question, then hit .

I have made a spreadsheet that shows what fields may be in the downloaded
lotwreport.adi file depending on which of the 4 boxes you check on the K1MU
screen. If you (or anyone) want a copy of the spreadsheet, send me an email
(offline) and I'll send it to you as an attachment (if I can get it past the
restrictions with email attachments).

Lee N7NU

2022-11-05 Thread Paul van der Eijk
Mike, he should do a straight import into a new log. Confirming QSOs does
that for existing QSOs . Or do both if some QSOs were recovered already.

Re: [Dx4win] Importing .adi files and converting them to DXL file format

2022-11-05 Thread Mike Cizek WØVTT
Hello Jim,

For LoTW QSOs, log in to your LoTW account; Your QSOs tab; Download Report
(at the far right). Select a date that you think is earlier than your
first QSO, to make sure you get them all. I would also select "Include QSL
Details" and "Include QSO Station Details". Download Report.
In dx4win, in the QSO window: LoTW, Confirm LoTW using ADIF file, and
import the file you just downloaded.

For WSJT, use File , Import/Export , ADIF , Import , and navigate to and
select the wsjtx_log-adi file.

Save everything. Make a backup copy of your AA8OY.DXL file and save it
somewhere other than the internal HDD on your computer. (USB drive, cloud,
etc)

To upload to LoTW, you must do that through TQSL. Download and install
TQSL from the LoTW web site (if you haven't already done so). Make sure
your callsign certificate is current and you have a station location set
up. Back in dx4win, in the QSO window: LoTW , Export to LoTW. Save the
adi file. Open TQSL, import and upload the file you just created in
dx4win. That's it.

It may seem like a lot of steps, but once you get the hang of it, the
entire process takes less than a minute. LoTW, TQSL, and dx4win all
remember when you last uploaded and downloaded, for for future operations,
will only upload and down load new QSOs.

[Dx4win] Importing .adi files and converting them to DXL file format

2022-11-05 Thread Jim Pyle
FYI, I'm a new user trying to get DX4WIN up and running. Following a
computer failure, I've been looking at ways to recover my log file QSOs.
With the help of others, a number of recovery efforts were made which were
only partially successful. I'm ready to try to download my LOTW.adi file
and convert it to a DXL file which is readable by DX4WIN.

Can someone walk me through the conversion process?

I also want to merge WSJT .adi files into my main log. I assume it would
be the same as the LOTW conversion.

Last and also important to me is uploading QSOs to LOTW. It is not clear
to me how to make a selection and then submit it to LOTW. I haven't found
the instructions for this.

Input from the reflector would be greatly appreciated.

I import the adif log from JTDX every few days. It now fails to import the

DX4WIN to make it essentially ignore dupes and only import the new QSOs.
But I cannot find how/where to do that. Any hints would be appreciated,

Re: [Dx4win] Importing FT4 QSO confirmations from the LoTW

2021-04-17 Thread Georg (DL5NO)

Hi Keith,

thanks for your email!

I downloaded a new lotwreport.adi with all QSOs, and after import also
the FT4 QSOs have a "Cnfm"->"Y", that solved my problem :-)

I can't understand how I got the old (apparently corrupt) lotwreport.

All others: Pse ignore my original mail.

73 and tnx,
 Georg

All of my imported FT4 QSO's from LOTW are confirmed.  I use DX4WIN
9.09.1259 also.

When importing the lotwreport.adi file into DX4WIN make sure the Options
for duplicate QSOs window says:  "imported QSO sets Lotw Confirmed flag"

For example: I just imported a lotwreport.adi report today into DX4WIN
and it set all recent FT4 QSOs to LOTW confirmed.

The LOTW notation for each FT4 QSO is showing a "Y" under the Cnfm
window block in DX4WIN.

Hi,

after importing the file of confirmed QSOs from the LoTW, I noticed that
no confirmations of FT4-QSOs are shown in DX4WIN. Instead, all these
FT4-QSOs are marked with the identifier "X" in the NOTFOUND file,
despite the identical date, time and callsign in DX4WIN and LoTW.

When I looked through the export and import files, I noticed the
following: In DX4WIN as well as in the export to the LoTW the FT4-QSOs
are marked as mode "MFSK" and submode "FT4". However, the ARRL web
service for querying LoTW confirmations only returns the mode (MFSK),
but not the submode. This is also specified in
https://lotw.arrl.org/lotw-help/developer-query-qsos-qsls/
<https://lotw.arrl.org/lotw-help/developer-query-qsos-qsls/>. It looks

like the missing submode field leads to a negative QSOs match when
importing the confirmed QSOs in DX4WIN.

DX4WIN Version is 9.0.9.1259. Can other DX4WIN users confirm this behavior?

I know that it is possible to set all FT4 QSOs manually to "LoTW
confirmed" using the function "Check log against imported log", however
with many FT4-QSOs this is time consuming, so any fix to the problem is
appreciated. Possibly this behavior may also occur with other
MFSK-submodes, which I have not yet checked.

 Hello Paul,
Thank you for the clue. It worked FB for several QSY date periods wrongly
logged as Home operations!
Procedure:
1.   From Google calendar found vacation dates inHyeres (My Group 2 QSY
operations)
2.   Filter|Selection
3.   Click ADD: type Hyeres in Currentselection
4.   Click 2 times on 001 and 002 toselect Home and Hyeres
5.   Check Group and date filter boxes
6.   Enter date filter 12/07/2018-25/09/2018
7.   Update
8.   OK: log window shows QSOs from selected period
9. QSO Window | QSO |Multiple QSOs Operations | Set Group Number: “45 QSOs
were changed”
10.   All these QSOs nowallocated to Hyeres Group 2 !!!
11.   Save As: NEWf6gnz.dxl
12.   Repeat above for other QSY date periods and re-save
13.   Check if number of QSOs are same in Old and New log
14.  Save As: f6gnz.dxl

Best 73 and thanks again,

Re: [Dx4win] Importing different FT8 logs

2021-04-05 Thread Lee Hallin
Hi Radi,

First, make a backup copy of your log the way it is now (just in case a
"fix" goes wrong).

Were the FT8 imported contest QSOs the only activity for that day? (Were
all the FT8 QSOs in a date range where you had no contacts outside the
contest?) If so you should be able to create a filter specifying the date
range and then doing a "QSO -> Multiple QSOs operation -> set group
number". It will give you a count of how many QSOs are selected before you
enter the group number. Then enter the group number you want the imported
contest QSOs to be moved into.

If that wouldn't work,
  1) Create a new log (.DXL) file.
  2) Import the original FT8 QSOs into it.
  3) Click "QSO -> Multiple QSOs operation -> set group number" to that of
the group where you want them assigned to.
  4) Click "File -> Import/Export -> (the highest DX4WINx version available
in your version of DX4WIN - probably 8 or 9)
  5) Then click File -> Export
  6) Navigate to a location for the exported file (remember where it is!)
  7) Close and save the new .DXL file

  8) Open the log (.DXL) file where the FT8 QSOs are in the wrong group.
  9) Click File -> Import/Export -> Import -> DX4WINx (that you exported
to) -> File -> Import
 10) Hit down arrow and select the item "Import QSO replaces existing QSO
(SLOW)"
 11) Click "OK" (to start the import). It will give a summary of counts
 12) Look at some of the imported FT8 QSOs that had the wrong group before
(Group 1) and verify they have been fixed!
 13) Save the file ONLY AFTER you verify the import worked as you wanted.

Please let me/us know if it worked or not.

Re: [Dx4win] Importing different FT8 logs

2021-04-05 Thread David Perry, N4QS
Hi Radi,

1. I can think of two ways to import into the correct group. First, you can
change the default Group number in DX4WIN. Go to Preferences, QSO tab and then
change the group number in the upper right corner. I think this will work. Be
careful to change the default group number back to the correct number once you
are finished with a given import. Second, the best and probably safest way is
to download the ADIF to DX4WIN converter, a small app written by Jim, AD1C.
When converting an adif file into DX4WIN Version 9 format, you have the option
with his little app to insert a group number as selected on the input screen of
the app. I use this feature all the time when importing QSOs from N1MM.

2. I cannot think of a way to easily change QSOs from Group 2 that were
imported into Group 1. The only way that I can think of is to change the group
number manually one QSO at a time. Not fun. The only other way is delete all
QSOs for group 1 and recreate group 1 by importing the QSOs from other log
source or sources if you have them--and designating the correct group number.
I would do a backup before attempting to recreate a group. Be extra careful.

I would highly recommend using Jim's ADIF to DX4WIN converter for assigning
group numbers in the future. As you may know, there are a lot of advantages to
using the group functions within DX4WIN. I keep the logs for all my
DX-peditions within on master log -- separated by different group numbers. I
also store QSOs from two different KY locations by different group numbers. By
doing that, I can import LOTW confirmations for all of my callsigns with one
file from the ARRL. I can also see all the QSOs with a given station from all
of my expeditions when viewing the Same Call window. This is a very powerful
and handy feature of DX4WIN.

File | Preferences, QSO tab. Look for the box titled, "Label/Upl
Flag". Uncheck the boxes.

File | QSLs. There is an option there to clear the Label flag(s).

Hi Mark,

What logging software/format are you trying to import from? I wrote a
program some time ago to make this easier:

http://software.ad1c.us/ADIF_County/

It converts ADIF to ADIF, and staggers the county-line QSOs by 1
second. I've never had a problem with that small an increment.

Please send me the log you are trying to import, I'll see if I can
help make it easier for you, if the conversion program above doesn't
do the trick.

Re: [Dx4win] Importing FT8 to DX4WIN

2018-07-24 Thread Leonard Kay
I also delete the wsjt_log.adi file each time after I import it.
Otherwise it will keep appending QSOs, and you will be making D4W
process the same QSOs over and over again each time you import. Not a
problem I guess if you select 'imported QSO is ignored' but it doesn't
seem very efficient. :) (And it'll always be in the recycle bin if I
need it)

Have a look at the first line in the adi file with a text editor, you may
find it is blank. If so remove the blank line. Then it will process

Re: [Dx4win] Importing Logs from the FQP using N1MM+ Ver 1.0.7161.0

2018-05-01 Thread Paul van der Eijk
When you want to import closely spaced QSOs, in your example separated
by 2 seconds, set the import time window to 1 second:
File | Preferences | Import | Time window to match QSO in secs (my logs)

Guess I could change the interpretation of the time window to allow QSOs
that are within the time window including the limit.

Re: [Dx4win] Importing Logs from the FQP using N1MM+ Ver 1.0.7161.0

2018-05-01 Thread Doug Joyce
GM:

I had a similar but different import problem with 3 log entries created
following a single QSO with NW4DX who provided three sections OSC, OKE and IDR.
When N1MM+ logged that QSO (I used "OSC/OKE/IDR") as the exchange received, it
created three log entires, one for each section, that were each separated by 2
sec. When I tried to import the log into DX4win (Ver 9.0.4.1176), the import
stopped after the first log entry for “OSC” and gave an error report that the
next log entry with NW4DX was a duplicate.

I suspect that this problem could be fixed by:
(a) finding out what DX4Win requires as the necessary time separation so that
two QSOs wth the same station will not be considered a duplicate and then
edit the time stamp in the 2nd and 3rd of the above QSOs to be more than that
minimum.

or

(b) have Paul amend DX4Win to accommodate the 2 sec spacing currently provided
by N1MM+

Could Paul and / or Jim comment on the above.

Thanks & 73

From his email:

I got tired of navigating to the WSJT-X directory every time I wanted to import
my WSJT-X log into DX4WIN. Fortunately, Windows 10 has a solution. The idea
is to create a symbolic link in your SAVE directory that points to the WSJT-X
log directory. The full instructions for creating symbolic links are here:

https://www.howtogeek.com/howto/16226/complete-guide-to-

symbolic-links-symlinks-on-windows-or-linux/

Here's the quick start:

1. Start by opening a Command Prompt in Administrator mode. From the Start
menu, find "Windows System" and right-click on "Command Prompt'.

Follow the "More" link and then click "Run as Administrator".

2. Determine the location of your WSJT-X log directory. Here is one way:

cd %localappdata%

C:

dir

You should see a WSJT-X directory there. The full path should look
something like this:

C:\Users\jjrei\AppData\Local\WSJT-X

3. Now determine the location of your DX4WIN SAVE directory. Mine is here:

E:\dx4w903\save

4. "cd" into your DX4WIN save directory:

cd E:\dx4w903\save

E:

5. Finally, create the link. Here is the command I used:

E:\dx4w903\save> mklink /D WSJT-X C:\Users\jjrei\AppData\Local\WSJT-X

(do not type the part *before* the >, only the part beginning with "mklink"

That's all there is to it. The next time you want to import using "File |
Import", you will see the WSJT-X link in your SAVE directory.

Double-click on that link, and you'll find your WSJT-X ADIF file there.

This is not limited to WSJT-X, you can create links to anything you want.

that shortcut to your DX4Win SAVE folder.

Subject: Re: [Dx4win] Importing WXJT-X ADI file into DX4WIN V9?

[Dx4win] Importing WXJT-X ADI file into DX4WIN V9?

2018-04-04 Thread Dennis Petrich
Hello all,

Is it possible to import ADI files directly from WSJT-X into DX4WIN? The FT8
log in WSJT-X is suppose to be an .adif file but when I try to import it into
DX4WIN I get an error. I abort at that point not wanting to mess things us.

Regards, Dennis, k0eoo

Hi,

With version 8, I downloaded my LOTW confirmations, then imported them to
DX4WIN using an option within the LOTW drop down menu. Now with V9, when I
use the 'Confirm LOTW using ADIF' option, it confirms them as EQSL, not
LOTW. I never use EQSL ! Is this a bug, or have I missed something,

Dick, do not import the log. Copy the PA3FQA.dxl file from your old
SAVE directory to your new SAVE directory. Then in 9.01, open the log
file in the new SAVE directory. Your DXCC status should be the same.

And what were those "same results"? DX4WIN only supports the modes
JT65, JT65A and JT65M at this time. If JT65HF is the *only* mode you
operate, then it might be possible to edit the ADIF file, changing all
"JT65HF:6" to "JT65:4". You should still use the original exported
ADIF files for upload to LoTW and eQSL. I have no idea why the
program would export two different files, ADIF is ADIF. You can send
me both files if you wish.

[Dx4win] Importing Log From JT65-HF ??

2016-11-28 Thread Mike Rhodes
Just wondering if anyone has tried to import a log from JT65-HF by
HB9HQX?? I only have a few Q's in that log but thought I would try to
convert it to ADIF and import to DX4Win but the ADIF file locks up
DX4Win. JT65-HF exports two apparently different ADIF formats (thought
there was a standard), one being LOTW and the other eQSL. Tried both
with same results. Will go ahead and enter them into DX4Win manually but
thought someone might have an explanation of what is going on.

Re: [Dx4win] Importing JT65

2016-08-23 Thread Lee Hallin
Hi Dave,

Glad you got it done!

I had thought of ADIF Master but didn't know for sure that it could do what you
wanted :) Good to know it can!

Just FYI, in NotePad if you surround the file name with double quotes, it will
save the file with exactly that name you specify so you'll need to include the
file extension like "filename.adi" and it will NOT add the .txt extension.

Lee N7NU

>>> "N4QS, Dave Perry"  8/23/2016 7:15 PM >>>

John,

Your suggestion solved the problem. I downloaded and ran ADIF Master.
Opened wsjtx_log.adi and left clicked on the header "Comment". That brought
up a pull down list of header names. I selected Notes and the header was
changed to Notes. I saved the file and then imported it into DX4WIN. The
comment information now went into the Notes for this QSO field instead of
the Notes for this Call field. This is better than having to change 195
QSOs by hand.

Now if we could just solve the JT9 issue. Hi, hi

Thanks to Jim, Lee and John for the assistance.

It is just another of my great disappointments with DX4Win as a modern

What I do, in a long winded away of 'fixing' this issue, is to do a

I am trying to import the wsjtx.adi file into DX4WIN. However, the comments
field from WSJT-X (which contains the signal reports in db format) is being
put into the Notes for the Call field in DX4WIN instead of the Notes for the
QSO field. I have even tried using Jim's ADIF to DX4WIN utility, but the
comments always go into the Notes for the Call field.

Does anyone know how I can change the mapping for the import so that the
Comments from the ADIF file go into the Notes for this QSO field?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Dave, N4QS

BTW, I sure wish DX4WIN supported JT9 as a mode. That is another whole can
of worms to try to work around. It would also be nice if DX4WIN interfaced
with JTAlert so that QSOs made in WSJT-X were automatically entered into
DX4WIN. Activity for weak signal modes is booming these days.

Subject: [Dx4win] Importing JT65

2016-08-23 Thread N4QS, Dave Perry
Ernie, Jim and Lee,

All three of you suggested that I open the wsjtx.adi file with a text editor
and then do a find/replace to change the comments tag to notes. That works
fine. But the modified file gets saved as a text file and not an adi file.
How do I save the modified file with an adi extention?

Thanks.

Dave, I have been seeking a resolution to this for five years, and no one
can help. So if you do come across a fix, be sure to post it for me.

It is just another of my great disappointments with DX4Win as a modern
logger. It was great in 2005, but is far behind now-and the author very
obviously has jumped ship.

What I do, in a long winded away of 'fixing' this issue, is to do a
'Edit/Replace/(Find what) Comment/ (Replace with) Notes/Replace All' on
every ADI file I have to import into DX4Win and that does the trick. But it
is NOT state of the art.

Good DXing - stay safe and healthy.

Hi Radi -

Randy, K5ZD, put me on to LM, by DL6WAA, when I volunteered to transcribe paper
logs for the WPX. It does a good job of streamlining
this task as much as possible, but it's still a time consuming job doing it by

You can export a file in a number of different formats.

[Dx4win] Importing Paper Logs

2016-01-15 Thread Alan Walters via DX4WIN
I commenced using DX4Win in the mid-90s and immediately commenced to covert
my paper logs to digital format. I used "Basic Log" which is an Excel
program to enter the fundamental QSO information and then transform the file
to adif format. The process is pure drudgery but in time all QSOs in my
paper log were in an adif file and then imported into DX4Win. I have never
regretted the effort it took.

I did a quick internet search to see if this was still on line but could not
find it. But I have the original zipped free-ware file and will be happy to
send it to anyone interested. Simply let me know.

Hello Cesare,
Thank you very much for fast response. I did not know anything about FLE, just

method. But will see if my nerves support it, HI!

Re: [Dx4win] Importing QSL requests into DX4WIN from ClubLog

2013-11-23 Thread Joergen "Joe" - OZ0J
That seems to work - but only on the first import.

When you import the file via File -> Import/Export you have to choose
"imported QSO replaces existing QSO).

When you have imported one OQRS file and then want to import No2 file (with
updated OQRS data), the 2nd import will overwrite the 1st import. Then you
will send the QSL card again.

I look forward to see that Lee, N7NU can find out.

Would it work if you used File | Preferences | QSO | Label/Upl Flag and
checked QSL Card? That way, each QSO you imported should be marked to send
a QSL. You would have to do separate imports for buro and direct, changing
the QSL Method for each.

Many thanks to AD1C and SV1DPI for all the work time and effort you put in

Hi Jim, John and others,

I am actually working on this for Joe (OZ0J / 5Q2T) -- see his post from Sep
24th at the end of this email.

I haven't done ClubLog yet so if anyone else has variations of what they
would like done by a utility I'm writing, please speak up now :-)

Also, mention what version of DX4WIN you are using.

My "plan A" is to write something that would create a .DXL file but I don't
yet know if that is possible.
My "Plan B" would be to have you do an "export", run my program against the
export and then re-import the new results to DX4WIN.

Plan A is more handy for the user (ONE step) but "Plan B" is more versatile
and perhaps easier to adapt to future versions of DX4WIN.

I "hope" to have something to test by the end of next weekend (Nov 24th).

Hi gang

I am using OQRS for my overseas trips and have download several ADIF files
containing details of bureau and direct requests.

My main logging programme, from which I manage QSL printing is DX4WIN.

Has anyone found a way of importing the Clublog produced ADIF file into
DX4WIN and setting the QSL label and method flag, ready for printing?

I suspect it isn't possible! Anyone else use a similar set-up? Do I need to
check the DX4WIN entries manually?

How do others update their logs from the QSL request ADIF files produced by
Clublog?

Thanks

seen at https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/2651703/clublog-qsl-e-mail.pdf

I stead of going through all the e-mails manually, I would like to import
the ADIF file so DX4WIN update these data:

Label change from N to Y (only for those that have not been sent already)
Method change from Buro to Direct if it is a direct QSL card.

I have tried to import the ADI F file via File -> Import/Export and set the
imported QSOs to "replace". That was not the solution I was looking for.

Do anyone have a solution ? Or is it manually work?

2013-11-16 Thread Mike Cizek W3MC
Would it work if you used File | Preferences | QSO | Label/Upl Flag and
checked QSL Card? That way, each QSO you imported should be marked to send
a QSL. You would have to do separate imports for buro and direct, changing
the QSL Method for each.

Many thanks to AD1C and SV1DPI for all the work time and effort you put in
to this!

Hi gang

I am using OQRS for my overseas trips and have download several ADIF
files containing details of bureau and direct requests.

My main logging programme, from which I manage QSL printing is DX4WIN.

Has anyone found a way of importing the Clublog produced ADIF file
into DX4WIN and setting the QSL label and method flag, ready for
printing?

I suspect it isn't possible! Anyone else use a similar set-up? Do I
need to check the DX4WIN entries manually?

How do others update their logs from the QSL request ADIF files
produced by Clublog?

Thanks

Until Paul adds an option for this in dx4win
I think it is possible to edit with notepad the adif file and make the
label field yes (or add one? - or already is yes?) and then import? It
would be helpful to see the layout of clublog file...

[Dx4win] Importing eQSL confirmation ADIF problem

2012-12-12 Thread Dave Sharred
Hi,

Just tried to update my main log (using DX4WIN v 8.05), with eQSL
confirmations. I can only see that I can download the entire confirmations
file (is 8900 QSO's).

When I import this (set eQSl flags); DX4WIN hangs and is not responding.

Am I doing something wrong ??

Hi Tom,

I wrote a program to convert .CSV to ADIF.  I never "finished" it (it did what
I needed but might not work for all cases) so it isn't really ready for release
yet.  If you want to send me the .DXL or the .CSV file, I will run it thru my
program and see what happens.  If it has problems, I will fix it and send you
the ADIF file back.  Then you (after BACKING UP YOUR CURRENT .DXL FILE) just
import the ADIF file as usual.

Lee  N7NU

P.S.  If others are interested, let me know.  If I get enough interest, I will
finish the program and make it available.  Right now it only handles the ADIF
fields I have encountered (about 40 fields).  My plan is to make it "aware" of
all fields mentioned in the latest 2.2.7 ADIF specs (see adif.org).

I was hoping that the posts about exporting to Excel would answer my question

You should write your own filter. It looks a bit complicated but it is
really very simple once you understand how it works. I've written a lot
of filters for the old Peter and Paul Rocks without any problem. Just
read the documentation and go for it.

Tom, I think the only solution is to convert the excel file to adif and
then import it to dx4win. I don't know a utility for this but i have
seen a guide for this
http://members.storm.ca/~ve3iay/spreadsh.html

I have not tested it but maybe we all learn if it works when you try it.

Re: [Dx4win] Importing LOTW Download File - v8.04

2012-07-22 Thread Jim Reisert AD1C
You do this from the LoTW menu, not the Iimport menu. What you are
referring to is the old DX4WIN 7 documentation. However it does say,

http://dx4win.ad1c.us/appnotes/lotw.html

"DX4WIN 8: From the LoTW menu, select "Import from LoTW" (before 8.05,
it's called "Import for LoTW")"

Sorry it's buried in the middle of the "Downloading the confirmations
from ARRL" section, I just have not re-written this in 2 years.

Choose "Imported QSO sets LoTW Confirmed Flag".

The documentation you're reading predates DX4WIN 8.x.

Re: [Dx4win] Importing LOTW Download File - v8.04

2012-07-21 Thread N4QS
Fred,

If I am importing the lotwreport.adi file (once I have saved it on my
computer), I go to the tabs in DX4WIN at the top of the QSO window and
select LoTW. I then select Import from LoTW and select the lotwreport.adi
file by double clicking on it. By doing this the file is imported into
DX4WIN without the Options for duplicate QSOs window popping up. Doing it
this way imports the confirmations directly.

[Dx4win] Importing LOTW Download File - v8.04

2012-07-21 Thread Fred - NA2U
Just downloaded my confirmed report from LOTW. I checked the documentation on
AD1C website re importing and find this:

"When the "Specify file for import" window appears, double-click on the file
named lotwreport.adi (unless you changed the name when you downloaded the file
from the ARRL web site). A pop-up will appear, "Options for duplicate QSOs".
Use the down-arrow to select, "Imported QSO sets Upload Confirmed flag":"

I do not have that option. My options are:

Issue warning and stop
Imported QSO replaces existing QSO (slow)
Imported QSO is ignored
Imported QSO sets confirmed flag
Imported QSO set LOTW confirmed flag
Imported QSO sets eQSL confirmed flag

OK, it's not eQSL. My guess wuld be set LOTW confirmed flag but I'm not
guessing. Which should be selected?

Fred,

Is the ADIF file open in another program (like Word) when you import the
file? Some of these programs keep the file open with exclusive access.

I am confused about the name you wrote above. In 8.05 the two LoTW items are:

- Export to LoTW - saves your latest QSOs to an ADIF file to be signed
and uploaded to LoTW

- Import from LoTW - imports the lotwreport.adi into DX4WIN, which
only sets the LoTW confirmed flags.

I believe in earlier versions they were called "Export for LoTW" and
"Import for LoTW". I asked Paul to change the names slightly because
using simply "for" in both cases was confusing.

Someone said to choose "import sets confirmed flag" - that's not
necessary in version 8, only version 7 (unless you do the import
manually via the Import/Export (ADIF) menu.

So exactly WHICH menu(s) did you go through to try to export? I
wonder if you're having some sort of directory permission problem.
Try saving the exported ADIF file somewhere else (like My Documents)
and see if the error goes away.

Thanks Rick.  That gives me some ideas and items to check with the users of
N3FJP in our FD group.

Arne N7KA

Hi Arne, probably what is happening is N3FJP is
setting the mode to "PH" instead of "SSB" as the
ADIF spec states.  If that is the only problem, I
would open the N3FJP adif files with an editor
and replace all the Mode=PH with Mode=SSB and
then start over with importing the
files.  Version 2 of the adif spec is out but
some of the logging authors insist on using their own spec!  Hi

Re: [Dx4win] Importing ADIF files from N3FJP

2011-06-30 Thread David, K2DBK
According to the ADIF spec (http://www.adif.org/adif227.htm#Mode%20Enumeration
)
"PH" is not a valid mode, it should have been SSB. I'm at work and don't have
D4W on this machine and I don't remember if there's a bulk QSO operation to
change mode.

If not, using a text editor you can replace the PH mode with SSB and that
should
do the trick. (Hopefully you didn't save the log with the bad imports, but if
you did, you can allow them to replace the others.)

If you're not familiar with editing an ADIF file, you need to use something
like
Notepad (don't use MS Word). Look for something that looks like this:

PH

and have the editor replace all instances with

SSB

Then you should be able to import without any problems.

[Dx4win] Importing ADIF files from N3FJP

2011-06-30 Thread N7KA

I am having a problem importing ADIF files created by N3FJP.  When importing
the ADIF files created by N3FJP logging software, the import process is
changing the mode from SSB to CW and including this statement in the Notes for
this QSO field: Import:{Mode=PH}

Has anyone seen this previously?  Is this a N3FJP or DX3WIN problem.  I am
looking at having to make 621 changes manually.  N1MM ADIF files import
correctly.

Some stations on FD used N3FJP.  I tried N3FJP contests programs a few years
ago but have not used them for several years due to problems N3FJP would not
address.

[Dx4win] Importing question

Hello Group,
I have many log files on Win-Eqf and I want to import them to DX4Win. The
instructions say to convert them to Database files prior to importing them.
I wonder why they can't just be converted to ADIF instead?
Many things I like about DX4Win but still in the LONG learning progress.
Hopefully I will get there.

You don't say which version of DX4WIN.

Remember, when importing, there are a few different options as to what
to do with dupes, i.e. ignore them or import the dupe. Which selection
are you using?

I suggest you send the ADIF To Paul so he can try to replicate the problem.

[Dx4win] Importing ADIF With Dupes Crashes DX4WIN

2011-01-08 Thread Art - W6KY

This has bean a pain for a long time, but worked
several dupes in todays NAQP...

NAQP Contest, (any contest)

Easier to work a dupe and continue...
Recommended in most contests...

But, when importing to DX4WIN, each dupe crashes DX4WIN.
Will import up to the 1st dupe in a file, stops and fills the
screen with error messages. Have to use Windows Task
Manager to stop the DX4WIN program.
After removing the first dupe (which invalidates my log) I try
another import and it crashes on the 2nd dupe (now the 1st).
With an import of 1000 Q's and several dupes, this bites...

Edit your (each) ADIF file before import. Change the ADIF field name
"OPERATOR" to "NOTES". Then import the log. The operator call should
show up in the "Notes for this QSO" field. If it shows up in the
"Notes for this Call" field, then use COMMENT instead of NOTES (I'm
doing this from memory).

Then assuming all the QSOs *YOU* made have K1KP in the "Notes for this
QSO" field, use F8 to search for that, then export the DX4WIN log to
ADIF. It will ask you if you want to use the active filter, answer
YES.

[Dx4win] Importing Contest Q's for Marathon

2011-01-08 Thread Tony Brock-Fisher
I have a question about using DX4WIN to log CQ Marathon QSOs.

I'm new to the Marathon contest and thought I'd give it a try this year.

I am a contester and frequently host multi-op activities at my station.

As I read the Marathon rules, only QSOs made by me can count for the Marathon.
If another operator uses my station to make a Q I cannot count that one for the
Marathon (not that I would want to). I use N1MM for contest logging, which
keeps track of the operator's call sign for each QSO.

Typically after the contest I just do an ADIF import of all contest QSOs from
N1MM to DX4WIN.

The operator name is in the N1MM ADIF file, but does not seem to come thru in
any field in DX4WIN.

I'm interested getting the operator name field into DX4WIN so I can accurately
track Marathon Qs which I have made myself in a contest.

Perhaps there is another way to do what I want (multiple separate log files,
etc).

My apologies if this has been asked before - I did try to search for it but did
not find any info.

Thanks!
