Hello

I have been using DX4WIN for many years. Currently v. 9.0.9.1259 in which I
have 370477 QSOs.

I recently encountered this problem:

I systematically update the databases from the DX4WIN website.

But I also want to add my own QSL mangers as I did in previous versions, as
described in the help:

"Main Window: File | Databases | QSL Managers" and there were no problems
with it.

Unfortunately, when trying to enter (v. 9.0.9.1259):

File, Databeses, QSL Mangaers I receive the following message:

QSL Manager editor not available

What is the reason for this?

Maybe I have something configured incorrectly?

Please help me.

I wanted to finish off this thread.

QSL managers are stored in the country file. Before DX4WIN 9.0x, the
country file was saved every time you exited DX4WIN. In DX4WIN 9.0x,
that is not the case. The country file is read-only. There is a
separate file in the SAVE directory named "usrexcpt.dat". This file
contains all changes you have made to either callsign prefixes or QSL
managers, and is saved every time you exit DX4WIN. Therefore, once
there is an error in this file, simply installing the latest country
file will not fix the problem.

I told Paul to delete this file, and his QSL manager in error disappeared.

I generally don't ever look at this file. It usually only contains
mistakes I made while logging, for example, assigning the wrong CQ
zone to a USA callsign.

I've said it before and I'll say it again - if you find an error with
either the country prefix associated with a callsign, or a QSL
manager, please let me know via E-mail so I can fix the master
database (country file). Then everyone will benefit from the
correction.

Hi Paul,

The QSL Managaer Editor is not available in DX4WiN 9.0x.

The easiest way would be to download and install the latest country file from:

 https://www.country-files.com/category/dx4win/

The country file contains the QSL manager database.

Hi,

thank you Jim and everyone else for your suggestions.

I deleted the wrong QSL manager entry with an ADIF editor (ADIFMaster)
before sending the QSL data to the Global QSL service for print. The
workaround worked well. Nevertheless, it would be nice if the editor of
the QSL manager database would be available again with the next update.

A happy new year for you all!

[Dx4win] QSL Manager Address Editor Not Available

I am running DX4WIN 9.04.1176; I've not tried to do anything with addresses

Any ideas? Is the editor a separate program that DX4WIN can't locate?

[Dx4win] QSL manager database

2018-12-30 Thread Georg, DL5NO

Hi,

I am using DX4WIN version 9 (9.0.4.1176), and maybe one of the other
users has a solution for the following problem:

I just want to delete a wrong QSL manager entry for a callsign, without
overwriting with another entry. If I clear the QSL-manager field in the
QSO-window and press F10, then the former entry in the QSL-manager field
appears again.

Up to version 8 there was a possibility to delete inappropriate entries
directly in the QSL manager database. This function is obviously
disabled with version 9 ("QSL manager editor not available"). Does
anyone have any idea how just to delete an inappropriate entry from the
DX4WIN QSL-manager database?

Any way of correcting this small issue? I am sure I am over looking

[Dx4win] QSL Manager Window

2014-08-06 Thread WB3AAL
Hello,

I have been doing some work in my log version 8.05.

I worked a DX station several times. The first three contact that I made
with the station had a QSL manager, now he does not. But the QSL manager
call sign keeps popping up in the window.

Any way of correcting this small issue? I am sure I am over looking
something.

[Dx4win] DX4WIN QSL Manager Functionality

2011-06-23 Thread Dick Flanagan
I am sending this separate from my previous QRZ XML post as I don't want
the two confused. This has nothing to do with XML functionality.

I have always (since D4W v2.1) wanted more QSL functionality. Let me
give a real-world example:

In 1998 I sent a QSL to ER4DX via the W5FE QSL service.

In 1999 I sent another QSL via the buro.

In 2003 I sent another QSL via the buro and uploaded the data to LOTW.

In 2005 I sent a QSL direct to his QSL manager with SAE, IRC and $2. My
mail bounced. I sent another QSL direct to his QSL manager via a
different mailing address with SAE, IRC and $2. No joy.

In 2007 I sent a QSL direct to ER4DX with SAE, IRC and $2.

In 2008 I sent another QSL direct to a different mailing address with
SAE, IRC and $2.

In 2009 I sent another QSL direct via Registered Mail with SAE, IRC and $2.

In 2010 I received multiple responses via direct and the buro.

In 2011 I received a LOTW confirmation.

The above dates and QSL methods are approximations from memory. I would
dearly love to be able to push a virtual button and have D4W print out a
searchable summary of each QSL attempt to ER4DX with dates, methods,
addresses, enclosures and results.

The previous release (8.x) was heavily oriented toward contesting. I
would love to see 9.x be the QSL manager I have always wanted.

Thanks for the consideration.

Dick

Re: [Dx4win] QSL Manager Database

2010-02-02 Thread Jim Reisert AD1C
Regarding #1, if you try to create/change the manager on the same date
date as is already in the database, then the one which is
alphabetically earlier in the callbook will still show. For example,
if FH5TT is shown as via F5SCI, but the real manager is F5CSI, then
F5CSI will still show in DX4WIN because it's earlier in the callbook.

Regarding #2, it sounds like you may not be in Expert Mode, first tab
of your preferences.

If you run across errors in the QSL manager database, please send me
the correction(s) so I can fix them in the database. The next release
is this coming weekend, February 6/7.

[Dx4win] QSL Manager problem solved

2009-09-19 Thread k1ko
Many thanks to all who responded. I followed the instructions and was
surprised to find two entries (one for each of two years) showing H44MY's
manager was/is OM2SA. I clicked on the second one, regardless, saved the info
and then closed the program. When I reopened it, the correct QSL manager call
was in the QSL Manager box on DX4WIN. I'm not sure why going through that
process helped, especially as the only QSL manager listed was OM2SA, but it did
and I have learned, especially in regard to computers and software, NEVER to
look a gift horse in the mouth!

Thanks, again, to all. It is a wonderful resource to have so many folks with
so much knowledge and so willing to share it. Kinda reminds of amateur radio!!!

Maybe I'm missing the obvious or maybe this has been covered before but I
don't see how confirming a QSO by upload ever gets changed to checked.
Shouldn't it change to a status of checked as soon as the upload confirmed
field gets changed to yes?

No, Terry. LoTW just means your QSO is confirmed. You still have to
submit the QSOs via the LoTW web site to receive DXCC credit for them
(at between 15c to 25c per confirmation).

Then you have to MANUALLY update the status to Checked once ARRL
approves them. There is no automation for that process.

The data is all in your original DX4WIN.CTY file. Use that instead of the

then restore the new country file and import the saved manager data into it.

[Dx4win] QSL manager import from 6.02 shows many errors

qsl manager dates in mm/dd/yy format

Does anyone know if this is the reason for so many errors? I suspect not
since 6.03 is supposed to be able to handle those.

The QSL manager date format matches the QSO date format in your preferences.

There were some errors with importing QSL manager data into 6.02, the dates
were changed wildly into the future, i.e. year 2057 and the like. There is
no consistency to the error, so it's hard to fix them.

If you suspect it's just a month/day swap, then send me your .TXT file (the
one you exported/want to import, ZIPped of course) and I'll fix it for you.

[Dx4win] QSL manager import from 6.02 shows many errors

2004-09-09 Thread Larry Alkoff
I just tried the experiment of changing the date format, then creating a new
qsl manager file in 603.
Also tried closing dx4win and restarting before creating yet another qsl
manager file.
In all cases the qsl manager file retained the dd/mm format.

So apparently changing the date format doesn't change the qsl manager data.
Wonder why yours is different.

The QSL manager date format matches the QSO date format in your preferences.

Both 602 and 603 have mm/dd/yy set in Preferences
but 602 has qsl.txt in mm/dd but 603 has it in dd/mm.
Guess it's controlled somewhere else.

Oh, I just realized what's going on.
You must have your dx4win Preferences set for dd/mm.

There were some errors with importing QSL manager data into 6.02, the dates
were changed wildly into the future, i.e. year 2057 and the like. There is
no consistency to the error, so it's hard to fix them.

There are no funny year dates in the file when I grepped it for /20.
I'd love to know what caused so many error messages unless these were needed
mm/dd changes
that dx4win would have done automatically.

If you suspect it's just a month/day swap, then send me your .TXT file (the
one you exported/want to import, ZIPped of course) and I'll fix it for you.

Thanks. I've attached the 602 file which would be imported into 603.
However it would be a lot easier for me if you just changed your Preferences
temporarily to the stock
dx4win mm/dd American style g and send me your updated file off list.

Do you think if I change the date format the qsl manager information will
automatically change?
If so, I can handle the changes here which I'll have to do anyway when you
come out with 9 final.
Guess I'll experiment.

73 - Jim AD1C

[Dx4win] QSL manager import from 6.02 shows many errors

2004-09-08 Thread Larry Alkoff
My DX4Win 6.02 is stable and working but the time has come to upgrade to 6.03.

How can I correct errors when importing my 6.02 qsl manager data into the new
6.03?

I extracted an ascii list of qsl managers from the dx4win.cty in both 6.02 and
6.03
and started the import process using the 6.02 file.

There is not _supposed_ to be a problem importing 6.02 qsl manager data into
6.03 but when I follow the procedure there are many errors.

Report from the qsl manager import screen ( I haven't saved anything yet )
ADD 1304seems like an awful lot to add
REPL 45 this is probably ones I have added that are not of the
official lists.
  SKIP 21,495 this is good
ERROR 1,577 not good at all

BTW, it's a real PITA that I can't copy, paste or print the report window.

Examining both files of qsl managers I find that many stations do not agree
when I compare them using windiff.
Windiff is an excellent visual compare program from the Windows cd.
Apparently 6.02 reports qsl manager _dates_ as dd/mm/yy but 6.03 reports qsl
manager dates in mm/dd/yy format
so all such records show up as differences.

Does anyone know if this is the reason for so many errors? I suspect not since
6.03 is supposed to be able to handle those.

So where are all the errors coming from and how can I weed them out?
Except for the date format differences I can't find any other differences in
the first 100 or two examined.
I'm afraid to finish the import because of them and have no idea of how dx4win
handles this.

Can anyone give me some insights into what is happening?

[Dx4win] QSL manager database problem

2003-02-07 Thread ON4CAS / N1TOI
Hi !

Over the years, I collected quite some QSL manager information. My QSL
manager database which I used in version 5.03 lists over 24,000 managers and
every week I imported some new managers which were listed in the Daily DX,
425DX News, etc. To keep my database up to date, I used the File/import QSL
manager data in the QSL Manager database menu. I keep my data in the
European date format (dd/mm/) as set in my preferences.
After upgrading to version 6.02, I exported my 5.03 QSL manager database in
a .TXT file and decided to import these data in 6.02
To my astonishment, most dates are set incorrectly. My date format in
version 6.02 is also set to the European standard (just as it was in 5.03).
I also tried to import a small .TXT file containing the following:
ZS03CWC,02/01/2003,ZS1AU
which resulted in the following entry in ine 6.02 QSL manager database:
ZS03CWC 04/12/1702 ZS1AU
Anyone knows what I'm doing wrong, if anything at all?

[Dx4win] QSL Manager Address Database Source?

2003-01-24 Thread Jim Reisert AD1C
Wasn't there a UA6 who used to publish updates? Someone stateside may have
linked to them from his DX4WIN web page.

ON4AOI may have some on his site.

Check the DX4WIN archives from late last year (November/December). There
should be plenty of info there on where to find this stuff.

[Dx4win] QSL Manager Database File

2002-02-18 Thread Anthony R Gargano
The latest QSL Manager database file that I could find available for
download is the one on the ON4AOI site but it is almost a year old. Anyone
know of anything available for download that is more up to date? Thanks,
