Is it a recent version of Outlook? We had that problem with a PC a couple week ago. Turned out the PC had O2k. Updating to O2k3 resolved the issue. Perhaps an issue with a new email template? Outlook Issue?
Often when sending an email from within Excel or Word 2007 everything works except the email never leaves the screen, after hitting the send button. I can go to sent folders and it was emailed but I have to close the Outlook form manually. Ideas? I send an email to, say, Joe, talking about how we're having trouble with a job for customer A. 2. Joe replies to my email, yet somehow, a random email address (typically another customer, like customer B) is magically added to the To field. 3. Customer B replies with a "WTH???" email. 4. People look at me with extreme frustration Any ideas what could be causing this? I don't think it's that they're accidentally hitting a key and it's using autocomplete to put a name in. The user that it happened to twice today swore that she checked the To field several times before sending the second email where this occurred (because obviously she was very nervous after it happened the first time.) Have you tried clearing the .nk2 files on the PC? (the "autofill" for Outlook) Close Outlook and delete the .nk2 file on the PC. See if the issue persists afterwards. HELP Okay, I used to think my users were crazy. Scratch that.. I still think they're crazy, but some weird things are going on with multiple people, so I don't think it's just a simple "user screwed up" issue. For the past few months, several users have been having issues in Outlook (2003) where they either start a new email, or hit reply, and it ADDS an address to the To: field at random. It seems to be an address that an email was previously sent to from that account. What's bad is that it happens with customers. So, for example: 1. No, it should be fine. Just be mindful of the initial prompt of where it asks you is you want to restore shortcuts and discard customized settings. The default should be to not discard customized settings, but like I said, be mindful of it. Thanks for all the replies on this "issue". I've checked out most of the suggestions, and I suspect that my next step is to run the Detect and Repair module to see if that fixes the problem. RE: Outlook Issue
As long as you already have your Deleted Item Retention set on the server, it doesn't matter when you make the DumpsterAlwaysOn reg hack. It doesn't even have to be on the client, you can have it on your admin machine and use it to recover mail that a user has accidentally deleted (as long as you have permission to view their mailbox). RE: Outlook Issue
All, shift-del=hard delete by bypasses deleted items folder, which is what Martin referred to. In doing so, you cannot use recover deleted items option (based on server deleted items retention time), UNLESS you have done reg hack DumpsterAlwaysOn. This enables recover deleted items on all folders, instead of the default deleted items only. Question: Since Exchange keeps messages after deleting them, BUT marks them for deletion and hides them, can you turn DumpsterAlwaysOn after the fact (say a user has hard deleted a ton mail accidentally), and recover after you turn this option on for the client? In other words, can a client access deleted items that are marked as such, and hidden if the reg entry is done after the hard delete? Thanks!
