Hello from blustery eastern Washington!

I have an Aaron Martin single horse leather harness and an Aaron Martin
nylon team work harness (with optional leather lined tugs & nose bands) for
sale along with 21" and 23" collars.  I also have a like new deluxe
trailmaster cart made by KG Enterprises for sale.  All fit my Fjords and
have lots of adjustments.  I am also selling my pristine condition 2008
Sundowner 14' LQ 3H trailer.  I bought it new in 2009.  It's loaded with
options and generator ready.  If you are interested in any of these items

I'm having a ball driving my pair!  Reina and Thor are like an old married
couple and are a true joy to drive.  The weather this fall has been gorgeous
and I've been able to drive often.  When I bought my first Fjords in 2002 I
had no idea how much I would love this breed and their temperament!

Hi all-  This mare needs rescued for the boarding/feed bill of $700.00.  I
tried to help her by bringing her home, but she needs a stronger, more
experienced handler than me- even to get her in a trailer and into a stall-
as she drug me down the road on my face, and all I did was re-inforced her
bad habits!!  She is  a pretty little mare/filly.  She has gotten used to
"pulling away", has not been started, which is better than started too soon,
ALWAYS!!!   So that ought to be appealing!  However, I do admit, she is way
behind the learning curve, but, she is not in physical harm from being
started too early!  I have seen her, and she is straight, feet look good,
and she should stay sound.  Although a pre-purchase exam is always a good
idea (I'm BIG on those since I am not a vet).  She only has until the end of
the month before she is out of there!  I would hate to say, but her fate is
hard to tell.  I fear it is, perhaps, Mexico?!  I know some of you don't
have horses, but if you or someone you know is a trainer, please help her!!
These horses are generally not sold for less than $3,000.  If you can take
her and sell her after training, you will save her, and she will likely have
a good home because she will be pleasing to a family.  SHE NEEDS TRAINING!!

Our plan was to create another great team for our farm with full
brothers/sister team. Thus Tindemann, Valkyrie and Whiskymann. however plans

All have been highly imprinted at birth and during the first year of their
lives. The three year olds are just now going into training for cart and

Great Child's mare for sale

Friends of mine are selling a great children's mare. They live in Washington
State. She is Faro's Annabelle TFF-P-2145-M, Out of Two Rivers Amalia C-1311
TRF-I-1947-M and by Cornerstone's Nygaard BLR-L-1047-S. (Born 2002- makes
her 7 years old) Bloodlines include: Rudaren, Toffen, Gjest,
Nordigardsblakka N-12707 1 pr mare. 

"She was used as a children's lesson horse and is a good babysitter." Quote
from the owners. They just do not ride her as they thought they would. They
also have a transmission in their truck/van that needs replacement and
transportation via the truck is required for their job. When things get
tight priorities take place.  If they could use the Fjord for work, I am
sure they would. The owners *love* their animals and care very well for
them.

Buhund Male Puppy

We thought all our puppies were sold but one person backed out at the last
minute. The Buhund is a herding and working dog, *high* energy, blows coat
twice a year, known for barking and being a watch dog. Very friendly, can be
stand offish, need training early in life.  We have "Charlie" available for
sale. The buhund is priced just about where a weanling Fjord is priced at.
We are shipping puppies out on Wednesday the 3rd of June. If you are

At the hunter jumper barn I co-owned years ago. We used plastic baskets and
a hanging fish/meat scale for the longest time so that everyone that was
feeding could get the hang of what is 5 pounds and what is 10 pounds. Each
horse had baskets. This worked well for the self serve boarders. They were
to place their baskets full of food by their stalls so that at feed time we
just dumped feed from the basket into the feeders. The baskets were the
dollar store type and all weighed the same. :-)

Your fjord must have a good work out. The rule of thumb ever since I was 3
years old was 1% of body weight in hay. 1000 pound horse getting 10 pounds
of hay a day. Of course you up the pounds depending on work out.  :-)

Peppertree's Arne & Sherette's Sebastian on the move....

Hello Folks & Friends,



  I know many of you are wondering what has been happening with our 
wonderful Fjords, Peppertree’s Arne and Sherette’s Sebastian.  Well, they 
have left California and made it to Patti Jo Walter’s farm in Wisconsin.  My 
daughter is 18 yro (geez how time flies) and isn’t into riding any more. 
So, a wonderful Win-Win situation came along and I know Patti and her riders 
will polish Arne and round out Sebastian’s training.  Both Fjords are great 
candidates for summer camp activities, Blue Earth Show fun and driving, 
which Arne hasn’t done since he’s been here.




 SO, for anyone in the Midwest, these great Fjords (Arne a Blue evaluated 
guy) may be closer to you and now within a trip to see.  Patti accepted them 
on consignment BUT we need to give her some time to let them settle in as 
they *just got there*.




Arne, a Red Dun (13 yro), was doing Pony Club and 3 Day Eventing; you can 
see him on YouTube if you search *Arne, Fjord*.  There are 3 videos showing 
him in the 3 Day Eventing disciplines.  His father, BDF Kanada King was 
awesome in dressage and Arne has that forward movement and LOVES jumping and 
rolling along the hills and dales of the XCountry courses.  He has Silver 
Medallions in Beg. English and Beg. Driving and  a Blue in Conformation 
(83.75)




Sebastian (8 Yro) has been Arne’s pasture mate and is happy to be at Patti’s 
where he’ll be trained and worked with on a regular basis. He is a beautiful 
Brown Dun with movement and energy to spare.  I’m sorry my daughter  didn’t 
continue his training, he’d make a nice eventing horse also.




There you have our update!  I look out and miss them but I am very pleased 
that they will be back where Fjords rule.  And I know Patti will rock on 
with their training.  Our thanks to Patti for accepting this mission and

TV show in Portland OR

Hey there - off the major topic. 

Any fans of TNT's show Leverage out there? There are two major productions
filming in Portland Oregon this Spring. One of them is Leverage. They are
filming season two here. Anyway, I was able to work a day on the set with
the possibility of working more later on during the season. So check out the
first show of season two.  (I think it starts in July.) Hint: I am walking
by a car when the guy set off a bomb. I am in the bar drinking and playing
pinball.

you know of a group home, therapy situation or someone that wants a pasture
"pet" with a little riding done. Please pass on this information. Needless
to say they are not for breeding nor for heavy work at this time. They still
need extra feed and care, but they are no longer in critical or dangerous
condition.

Just to let you all know we update the puppy news on our website daily. 

 

Also - Sorry but all pups were sold almost a year ago. Buhunds are nor rare
but there are few in the USA. It is kind of like the 1980s with Fjords. Hard
to find. If anyone is interested in getting a Buhund. we will be glad to
help you find one. Getting on the breeders lists is the first thing to do.
It may take a few years but eventually you will get one. Most breeders will
honor the price they quoted you when you go on the list.  FYI Buhunds start
at 1500.

 

BTW: We still have young stock for sale. Ready for training. We also have
older been there mares for sale.

Air Fern are the words other people use... not my words... I was pointing
out the fact that these words ARE USED in our breed to describe the "ease"
of feeding... I was pointing out that WE (the Fjord Community) needs to be
better educated and to educate better (the key) new Fjord owners. I know
that Fjords are far from ease to keep in shape (proper shape). I know there
is common sense in feeding but if common sense was common. then we would not
have such a problem with people. (yes?)

 

In the Scotland case - I do believe there is a mental issue at hand. But I
have met people that are the same. Their pride and stubbornness prevents
them from asking for help and they will allow it to go too far, even to the
point of self destruction.  (The case we have now in Oregon.)

 

This is my personal belief.I am saying. this.. If the Fjord Foundation had
the funds to help fight these types of issues. this would be an issue to
fight. However our / your Fjord Foundation is still in the infant stage and
funding is not yet available. So - Next time you want to honor your horse, a
person or an event. Think of the benefits of honoring them through a
notation in the Book of Honor or Memorial Book.  Please see the Fjord

In the meanwhile - establishing state wide (country wide for our European
friends) safe farms for rescue and for rehabilitation would be a start.
(Before volunteering. it is expensive to rescue. It is three times the money
of other horses for the first 6 months depending on the condition of the
horse. There is nothing worst than rescuing a rescue horse from a facility
that took on too many rescues. )

 

To present day: We are looking for help for the three we took in. The filly
will be ready for a new home very soon. She needs extensive ground manners.
She has not been touched since she was imprinted and 3 months old. She
halters. but then bullies when lead and everything else.  The two older
mares may be ready by mid summer to be placed in retirement homes / handicap
lead line work. We will see. Or they will be pasture pets for our farm.

 

I do believe in what Lisa P said. it is the breeders that need to be
responsible for their offspring. To cut back when times are tough and to not
breed just to breed. We forecasted this and cut back to one foal this year.
We have 6 horses to place and until they are placed we are not breeding back
any mare this year.

Karen - In Oregon, it is hard to get the officials to take action. Several
calls and several people were involved in calling in the situation with the
horses we finally took to our farm.  We monitored the 3 we now have for 60
days prior to taking them. We are lucky the two older ones have survived the
starving situation they were in.  The younger one is in better shape due to
age and still nursing off of both mares. 

I heard you did well at the Expo - Great Job! Sorry I could only go to set
up. I had to come back and monitor our new hay burners... :-)

Fjord Rescue

We took 3 fjords in rescue yesterday. One will be placed in a foster home.
($1000 cost to foster) Foster has right to own once rescue is finalized.
(This means papers will be turned over.)

2 will stay on our farm for LIFE of the horse. 

 

We are accepting donations of all kinds for these three horses. Halters,
leads, brushes, combs, medicine, feed, bedding and money. All will go for
these three horses only. All will stay with the horse and go with them with
foster homes. 

 

All have had Vet Care and dental care as of yesterday and today. They are
doing well. considering they were left to starve to death. No water and no
food other than a dirt lot to eat on for 60 days monitoring. 

 

The 2 year old is in great shape because she nursed off of mom and the other
mare plus had the teeth to eat roots.

 

The photos on Face Book do not do them justice. They are thinner than the
photos and movie show them to be. 

 

Any and all donations are accepted through my farm. If you want to foster

Back in them there old days (giggle). Our first Fjord, Lyder took his name
to heart. We took him on a 3 day trail ride. This group had a bunch of die
hart endurance riders and party cowboys. Lyder would not let the silly
Arabians past him the first day. We finally had to make him stand and wait.
By the end of the ride, everyone knew there was pony power. Lyder was 13.3
hands and about 1200 pounds. Old fashion Fjord or just short and stocky...
but a heart of gold and very determined to lead the group.

At this same trail ride, a very happy cowboy (drunk) asked to ride Lyder.
Rune allowed him to jump on bareback with a halter and go for a test ride in
camp. By the time we got Lyder back the whole camp was told Lyder was half
zebra. It made for interesting conversations as everyone wanted to know how
to get one.

I happen to agree with you - however, there are people that cannot afford to
feed their horses. Here in Oregon there are 100s of well trained horses
given away daily. Our rescues farms are full of horses all ages all training
levels. No one is buying horses out here. There is a point in some families
where it is better to take a loss than to not feed the family. I know of
Fjords that the owners are almost starving in order to feed their
horses...the owners would love to sell but there are no takers. Even at a
discount from $8500 down to $3500 for well trained and behaving Fjords.
Almost daily I get calls asking me to buy. If I had the extra cash... I
would be buying up all the trained Fjords right now... the future will only
get better at this point and all someone has to do is feed and care for them
for a few years and wait until the market goes up. 

Fjords are never at $500 when I am looking to buy... (giggle) 

We held up on selling our young stock in hopes that the market will get
better. We at least can afford to feed them and have vet and farrier work
done on them. Not all people can right now. 

Now more than ever, we need to pick up the spare change and get these Fjords
onto farms that can afford to care for them until the market gets better. 

$1000  + a year is about right for cost in bringing up a horse. That does
not even consider your personal time you spend loving on and training on
them. 

Going out to clean stalls and hug our fjords. Thankful that we have a hay
barn and there is enough to last the winter.  Not thankful that it is
snowing today... (ah ha)

Three Fjord Pins Found

Years ago I designed and had made Fjord pins (broaches). I found three of
them while cleaning out my office. All are new. Two are of what I called the
"gelding" and one is "mare & foal". I am leaving for a dog show in the AM so
I cannot get a photo up before I leave. However, my email program dates and
time stamps the emails that come in. These are stamped brass that are then
dipped in Rhodenium (sic) (a non tarnishing metal like silver but better
than silver). They are made by "wild bride" for me. They are the size of a
50 cent piece. 

 

Way back when they sold for $30.00 to $45.00 each. If I had the energy I
would sell them on eBay but I am too busy with other jobs and doings. 

 

Take one take all three $25.00 each plus shipping in a flat rate envelope
($5.00).

It's a wrap!

Hello friends,

It's a wrap! The movie I have been working on finally came to a wrap
yesterday. Today they will take down the sets and clean up the camping area.
It has been a whirl wind of activities and adventure. It has been an
education and lots of fun. 

The movie's working title is "The Woods", it will not be released under this
name. The director is Matthew Lessner. It will be shown at the Sundance Film
Festival and released on DVD.

The film itself will be interesting. I was able to watch some of it being
made. I am not sure it is my style of movie, but then I am a good 20 years
older than the director and most of the crew on the film.  I was originally
hired as a PA (Production Assistant) and ended up being the Animal Wrangler
and the PA for week two of the movie. 

I am pleased to announce that we did end up using our Norwegian Buhund, ABLE
as "the wolf dog". and three Norwegian Fjords, BELLE, TINDEMANN and TYRMANN
as "the magic ponies" in the movie. We also used two Minis, ACE and ALVIS,
along with a bird, MIA.  Oh yes. we had a goat by the name of Jasmine or
Lily or just plain goatee. :-)

The exciting news is that I have been asked to work on another film
scheduled to start filming in December. I am not sure what the story line is
but if they need dogs or horses, you will be sure that I will suggest the
Buhund and the Fjord. 

This week I shall be in Seattle at the 3 Day Walk for the CURE. Breast
Cancer fundraiser. If you are in Seattle, come see the thousands of walkers
in this city. Oh ya. say hello to me if you can find me in the crowd. I will
be wearing a white hat and pink shirt. (LOL)

Aurora is here from Norway

Hello,

Last night / this morning, Aurora from Norway arrived. By the time we were
on the farm it was 2 AM. She is sleeping in after two days of travel. She
took a bus from Nordfjordeid to Oslo and then flew Oslo to Newark, Newark to
Seattle and Seattle to Medford. She said she only slept on the plane from
Newark. Now, Aurora is on our 127 acre farm in Days Creek.  She is very
interested in horses and working with them and is an accomplished rider and
driver. She participated and placed in the Norwegian Championships this
year. She will be with us until after Christmas. 

We hope many of you on the west coast will get a chance to meet her. She
will be going to the Libby Evaluation and show. (I think she will go with
Amtrak to Libby. Thank you for the suggestion, Gayle.)

If anyone is having clinics or going to a show on the west coast and you
need horse help, please give me a ring.  If Aurora has the time free, she is
interested in seeing other fjords / horses.

Libby Show

Hello There. I am still looking for someone to help me transport Aurora
(visitor from Norway) to Libby MT for the Evaluation and Show. I can drive
her to any location near the I-5 from Days Creek to Seattle, WA on September
10th and pick her up on the 15th on my way back from Seattle.  Is any one
going from this area that may have room for a helper?  Aurora already has a
hotel room available to her. She will have money for food and so on. I am
just looking for transportation. (I hate to put her on a bus. but we just
may have to.)

Visitor from Norway / Transportation in Oct

We are pleased to announce we will have a bright young lady, Aurora Haavik
from the Nordfjordied area of Norway come visit us this Fall. She will
arrive on the 20th of August and stay until after the holidays. Aurora
participated in the Norwegian National Championships this year. 

 

We hope to introduce her to as many Fjord farms as possible and to have her
go to Libby, MT. for the show and evaluation.  We cannot go to Libby this
year due to a personal obligation made more than a year ago. (I am walking
60 miles in the Seattle, WA 3-Day Walk for Breast Cancer. - Donations are
still being accepted.) If anyone that lives on the road to Seattle from Days
Creek (I-5) that is going and wants a helping hand and has room to host
Aurora, please email me privately. We can fix her up with a tent and camping
gear. She is bringing English show clothes. just incase. :-) I was just
thinking I can drop her off at your place on my way up to Seattle for the
walk and then pick her up afterwards. . It is an idea. Any takers. email:

On the farm front. we still have three geldings for sale. 2 - two year olds
and one 7 year old that has been there and done that. He rides and drives.
Like everyone else. the price of having "extra" horses is getting
ridiculous. We are not giving them away either. :-)

 

This week we are in the 100 to 110F at the main house. The horses have the
week off at pasture. We do not make them work in this type of heat. 

 

Rune and I will be hauling horses from MN to Nova Scotia and will be empty
going East from Oregon to MN and Nova Scotia West to Oregon. If anyone has a
need to transport a Fjord in either direction, contact us. We are looking to
cover our cost of an empty rig going. We have space for 6 horses.  Again.

If you are questioning the color... then he is most likely a brown... You
will know when you have a grey... The muzzle and the eyes are very
different. I thought I had greys but they were brown and when we finally had
a grey... it will hit you that "this is a grey". :-)

Geldings ready for new homes

Hello There,

As the summer is getting hot. the fjords love the trail rides that include
crossing the creek.  Our mare Belle. will swim in 2 inches of water if we
let her. She loves the water.  

 

Anyway, we have some really nice geldings on our sales list.  All are brown
duns. All will mature at 14 hands or close to it. 

 

A seven year old that drives single and all multiples and rides trails and
arena work. We are still polishing his canter but he is excellent under
harness. He has done farm work and cones work and everything in between. 

 

A four year old that is just finishing his training. He will be that great
fjord we all love and most of us own. He will be ready for a new home next
month. He will work our trail riding business until we find him an owner of
his own. 

 

And then we have two two year olds.  They are still growing and have all
their basic ground manners. We have been long lining them and next season
they will be hitched to. Get them now while their prices are lower due to
their age and training level. 

 

Serious buyers are welcome to email and talk with me. Thank you for reading

Unfortunately, our barn is not able to attend either show this year. We had
booked other obligations that are in conflict with the dates.

horse person, matter of fact she just finished competing in the Norwegian
Championships.

Hello everyone,

 

Some things must be said! 

Some things must not go unannounced. 

We (Rune and I) have been lucky enough to not only meet but to become
friends with a trainer we not only respect. but we hope will be our friend
for life. This trainer has worked with all sorts of horses. This trainer has
a great reputation for being a fare but stern. The boundaries are outlined
first and foremost. The results are stupendous. We do not always had a
chance to work with this trainer for her schedule is always full. However,
we did get a spot for one of the horses we co-own and we have been more than
satisfied with the results of our horse's training. 

I am writing about our own Gayle Ware. from Eugene, Oregon. Gayle is known
for Dusty.but Gayle should be known for her compassion and her dedication to
our breed and horses in general. We were able to put a "non fjord" in
training with her with exceptional results. Our Dole Horse came back to us
with such grace, talent with training. WOW. is all I said to Gayle. 

If you ask us who should train your horse? We would recommend Gayle Ware for
under saddle and for higher levels of training. Do not be fooled by the
WESTERN SADDLE she uses. GOOD TRAINING. is the same. Dressage, western
saddle or English saddle, sidesaddle, saddle seat or  vaulting. good
training translated into any seat or fashion!

THANK YOU GAYLE for such a great job on our Dole horse, Stjerna!

Branding

Ok - Here is my view.

I have had and worked with many horses in my life time and some were
branded. One decided that the branding was too much for him and he never
trusted human again. I do think it might help in preventing a horse in being
stolen... but I seriously doubt it. A brand does mean that the slaughter /
auction house must research the brand and/or have a brand certification on
that horse. That can be made for $25.00 per horse in my neck of the woods...
no one really researches or cares... it is just paperwork.

If you want to brand to show ownership... why not tattoo the lip? Easier on
the horse and you do not have to look at a scar on the horses flesh. 

If you want to brand the horse because it is a "rated or judged" horse...
like in Europe... WHY? If you own a horse that has proven itself, you have
the paperwork to prove it... Of course... IF it were branded and you went
into a horse show... then the judge would know some other judges thought
this horse was good... and that judge may be influenced by the brand?... or
maybe influenced by the breeders brand? ... or by the trainer's brand?... or
maybe not influenced?  Or is it just to show off? (I am in no way putting
down the long standing traditions in Europe. It is just not for me. I'll be
the first to say... what the mother country does we should adopt...
However... I would speak against a fjord brand, if asked.)

I would rather buy a microchip scanner that reads my horses chip and bring
it with me to shows and to state lines... than to scar my horses... A $100
scanner seems reasonable to me. :-)

Off to feed the Fjord in my life... Life is GOOD with Fjords!

Les did email me and said that he SOLD Grabbson PRIOR to taking him to
action. 

I am happy and glad...

I am SAD...for Amy Evers and Tillie Evers have decided to move on... they
both will leave our farm at the end of the month. I am sure it was a hard
decision for Amy... I know she liked it here at our farm... but we also
realize when it is time to move it is time to move...  We wish her all the
best in her new adventures... I believe she will move north towards Eugene,
Oregon. I do know that she has (3) three colts for SALE... two will be 1/2
Brothers from FULL SISTERS... you figure that out... WHAT A GREAT TEAM of
GELIDINGS... can you have?... Raise them up yourself... the same age from
the same stallion from full sisters... WOW... what a CDE Pair if I can pair

 Unfortunately the stallion was not trained for anything but breeding. :-(.
This is why he has not sold as of yet. He is related to our mares, so we
have not been interested in him... or we would have worked a deal with Les
or actually even his prior owner. 
He is gentle and if anyone wants a good horse... he would be it... even
gelded, I am sure he could have a handicap rider... since they have a leader
and two side walkers... What I have seen of him... He would tolerate this
very much... matter of fact he would enjoy it. Fjords LOVE a job to do...
this stallion needs a job...  

Rune will be at Sisters only Thursday evening and Friday during the day...
He is delivering two other horses (non Fjords) for a lady that is selling
them... He could meet Les there or... Les does not have to go to Sisters...
if someone steps up to the plate... however... with the economics as it
is... Only the people in EUROPE and afford him... :-) (Humor (pause)  you
all...) I rather prefer the NOK 7 to 10 to a dollar than 4 to 5 to a
dollar... No offence to the Norwegians... it is just a reflection of our
economy...

However, I will defend the theme ideas...

The theme is mainly for the booth and the music we use. The performances
have been straight up performances.  I do not think Gayle and Dusty's
performance was costumed out or ran over by the theme of our booth. Or was
it? Let me know.  Our theme was "A Fjord for all Seasons and a Fjord for all
Reasons."

We have been asked each year to perform at the Extravaganza on Friday night.
We have been the only breed that has been asked to do this 9 years in a
row... reason why? We project having fun with our horses and at the Expo. We
entertain the crowds. The management likes us to be different in what we do
and how we present the Fjords. 

After 9 years of watching each breed group go out with basically the same
script  "This breed is versatile and we use it in every equine sport...
yadda yadda yadda...", the crowds like to see something different.  

But you know... there is ALWAYS room for change. And if you can come up with
8 Fjords and all the things needed for the expo, I am more than willing to
go with whatever decorations and music and performance you and the others
would like to do. That is why we ask and plan ahead of time. You live in
Oregon now and you were at the Expo. We would love to have new blood in the
group and new ideas.  After 9 years, one can become jaded on the out look.

Fjordings West still has money in their account and maybe that money should
be used to finance the 09 expo? That would help a lot!

In the meanwhile, anyone interested in voting for a theme or No theme...
keep the emails coming. We want to plan in advance for the 09 expo.

EXPO in Albany Oregon

Hello All,

 

We are up early and packing for the NW Horse Fair and Expo which will be
held this weekend. It starts tonight and ends Sunday at 6 PM. 

 

For anyone in the area, The Fjord Horse will perform at the following times.


Friday: 1:30 & at the Equine Extravaganza at 7:30 PM

Saturday: 11AM  and Sunday: 3 PM

 

The Oregon Fjord Club will have 8 horses performing. Gayle Ware and her barn
have a wonderful quad drill and Becky & Matt Hope with their barn have a
great display of pack horses and cowboy polo.

VOLUNTEER RECRUITMENT BEGINS FOR 2010 GAMES Volunteer Web Site Now Active





LEXINGTON, KY— The World Games 2010 Foundation today announced it is
launching a volunteer recruitment Web Site, through the online services of
The Registration System, to manage the thousands of volunteers needed for
the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games.



Anyone interested in becoming a volunteer can log on to
 www.feigames2010.org and click on “Volunteer
Information” in the “Quick Links” box, to register and receive more
information about volunteer opportunities and benefits. Volunteers are
needed before, during, and immediately after the Games. Interested
volunteers must also fill out a profile detailing when and how they could
serve.



“With more than two years until the 2010 Games, we have already had
countless requests for volunteer information,” said Cathy Rutter, Director
of Community and Volunteer Relations. “The Registration System’s recruitment
site is going to allow the Foundation to both communicate with our
volunteers, and give us access to volunteers that we need right now—not just
for the 16 days of competition in 2010.”



 “TRS, The Registration System, cuts large events into manageable pieces. It
is an online solution we developed to solve the common challenges faced by
event planners like the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games,” said Florence
May, President of Simply Hospitality.  “We provide an event mission control
for our clients, including registration, e-mail communications, payment
processing, and management report packages specifically for large and
mid-sized sporting events, festivals and conferences.”



All volunteers will be required to go through an orientation and training
program before they can begin to serve with the Foundation. Volunteers will
receive a variety of benefits for their efforts, including official 2010
Games apparel, volunteer credentials, and general admissions tickets.



“We plan to give our volunteers special recognition during the Games for
their efforts,” stated Rutter. “We are depending on our volunteers to help
make the Games a success—and that it’s going to be both hard work and an
incredible experience. At the end of the Games, we hope our volunteers walk
away with the feeling that they had an impact on the Games’ success.”



Rutter said nearly 17,000 people have already registered through the Games’
informational Web Site,  
www.feigames2010.org.   Those people will not have to re-register, but will
receive an email asking for an update on their profile information through
the new recruitment system.



TRS was custom-built in 2001 to support the Men’s and Women’s NCAA ® Final
Four, the American Association of Museums and the National League of Cities.
TRS is now used for more than 250 North American events each year.  Simply
Hospitality clients include the Indy 500 Festival, Chick-fil-A Bowl, Ottawa
Bluesfest, FORD Model T Centennial, USA Track & Field Olympic Trials and the
VA Golden Age Games.



The Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games, to be held at the Kentucky Horse
Park September 25-October 10, 2010, are the world championships of the eight
equestrian disciplines recognized by the Fédération Equestre Internationale
(FEI), and are held every four years.  The Games have never before been held
outside of Europe; nor have all eight disciplines ever previously been held
together at a single site— both firsts that will be achieved at the Kentucky
Horse Park. The 2010 Games are expected to have a statewide economic impact
of $150 million. It is anticipated that more than 600,000 spectators will
attend the 16-day competition.

Hey. I know the auction thing is not the best way to handle frustrations.

Here in Oregon, the Oregon Fjord Club holds fundraisers to help defray the
cost of performing at Expos and parades. The performers pay for the
expenses, most of the time. :-) We have been performing at the NW Horse Expo
for over 10 years. :-)

Our own PNW Horse Fair & Expo comes up in March. This year we are playing
cowboy polo for the Friday night performance and then the other
performances, we are very lucky to have Gayle Ware and three of her
wonderful performers PLUS Becky & Matt Hope and two of their riders. We will
have 8 Fjords out there during three demonstrations. Matt and Becky do
packing and western trail riding and I am sure Gayle will wow them with a
wonderful demonstration on how well Fjords can be trained. 

Anyone in the Albany, OR area the last weekend in March... come see the 8
wonderful Fjords perform.

Hello All,

Anyone out there a book fan? Canyonville Feed and Ranch Supply in
Canyonville has listed three books on Ebay for sale and the starting price
is way below cost. One is GaWaNi Pony Boy's book, the other is a John Lyons
Book and the third is a how to build a horse barn book with several ideas
and layouts. All are new books. They just have been sitting on the shelves
at the store for a while and the owner is now using Ebay to sell off items
that have not sold. The Ebay user name is "FeedRanchGuy". It is a new
account so there is not any feedback for him yet, but he is a business and
the books are real and new.
