There is a good chance the card is not completely seated. Double check that the connection is even across the whole connector. Many times it will be the backside of the card (facing the front of the PC) that pops up just enough to cause problems. [Flexradio] CAT experimenting
I've been experimenting with CAT control of the SDR1K using Delphi and something is not quite right. I can send say FA; to the SDR to get the freq of VFO 1, and reading the COM port will at times return the proper value as expected, however at times it returns nothing, then when it finally does, it returns several iterations of the freq for each time I sent FA; before. Sometimes, it seems like the COM port times out or something to that effect. I can go into PowerSDR and toggle the CAT off and then back on and it will work for a bit. I know this sounds sort of vague... Can someone tell me what I'm missing that may have had the same issue at first? I've done Async stuff before with no problems, so this one has me lost. I'm trying to marry up my new LP-100 Digi Vector wattmeter with the SDR. I can command and poll the LP-100 with no problem via a COM port, however I've never attempted any CAT control of rigs with my own software. Thanks for any suggestions. Re: [Flexradio] CAT experimenting
Hello Tim and Simon, I am using N8VB's vCOM with the SDR on port 6. Tim, I am currently using 1.6.3 SVN 693. I've found the CAT command list, however an example of sending a CAT command and reading the port for a result would be of great help. I know the ';' is used to terminate all commands. What about a cr+lf as well? I've tried this both ways however... Soon as I send 'FA;' to the com port, I check the buffer and there are zero bytes waiting to get. There is something I'm missing on protocol, as I can use TERM most the time to send and receive data to COM6 on the SDR, but even it sometimes returns a null. Thanks for any advice. Well, soon as I thought it was getting better, it started acting just as before, even with increased delays. I can change the code to read COM1 where my LP-100 wattmeter is at 38,400 baud and read it instantly and without any timers in the code. This is so intermittent, I don't know if it's the vCOM or the Flex. Maybe I need to slow down the baud rate from 56K on the Flex to 38K like the LP-100... 50ms is *not* enough, use 1 second. Think about it - you are the foreground process getting all those nice priority boots from the hamsters running inside your PC, the poor old SDR console code is chugging along doing many things. You'll have to wait longer and give it a better chance of catching up. What I do is try a command three times until I get an understandable result, even if it's an error. Use Portmon, watch another program talking to SDR, compare the Portmon log to your own. Portmon comes from www.sysinternals.com . It's free - like the best things. Re: [Flexradio] High SWR with Amp
Dave, I have a similar situation on 75m. I have a Gap TitanDX antenna mounted 60-70 feet away from the operating position. I have a 160m off-center fed dipole that runs 10-15 feet above the roof directly over the operating position (total distance about 20-25 feet from radio). If I use the Gap antenna on 75m, I have no problems either barefoot or with the amp. If I use the dipole barefoot (no tuner), I have no problems. If I use the dipole with the amp, PowerSDR says High SWR shuts down. I have no problems on any other band, with or without the amp. My gut feeling is that it is an RF feedback problem. My next task is to revamp the shack grounding system. It desparately needs it anyway. 73, Ray, K9DUR ___ FlexRadio mailing list FlexRadio@flex-radio.biz http://mail.flex-radio.biz/mailman/listinfo/flexradio_flex-radio.biz Archive Link: http://www.mail-archive.com/flexradio%40flex-radio.biz/ FlexRadio Homepage: http://www.flex-radio.com

Re: [Flexradio] SVN Use Recomendations Wanted
John, If you have a linux server box setup, you could use this to run an SVN server. However, you probably do not need it to do what you're trying to do (integrate your changes with ongoing FlexRadio changes). This is automatic behavior that works 90% of the time. There are those rare cases where both you and Flex have both modified the same section of code. This is where you run into problems (SVN calls them conflicts). It is relatively easy to work this sort of thing out provided that it is not a huge block of code on both sides. On a side note, I use a local SVN server on a windows box just to track small internal test projects. It is invaluable to be able to revert to previous versions of code easily for comparison. I would suggest trying to use the Flex SVN server (thanks to Dale, BTW for hosting) initially and then you can always build on that once you are familiar with how it works. Flex SVN is the repository that all changes get committed to. It seams to me that I need to do things differently. I don't think Eric wants my Commits on the Flex repo. Is anyone developing there own enhancements while keeping up to date with the official main line code developments. If so, any recommendations? I really miss the wave record/playback stuff I developed back in v1.4.5 pre12 and would like to integrate it into the latest console. Re: [Flexradio] CAT experimenting
In VB6 there is a event driven command called OnCommEvent which takes care of those waiting milliseconds automatically for you, is there any thing like it on C#? I.E. ' The OnComm event is used for trapping communications events and errors. Private Static Sub MSComm1_OnComm() Dim EVMsg$ Dim ERMsg$ ' Branch according to the CommEvent property. Select Case MSComm1.CommEvent ' Event messages. Case comEvReceive Dim Buffer As Variant Buffer = MSComm1.Input Debug.Print Receive - StrConv(Buffer, vbUnicode) ShowData txtTerm, (StrConv(Buffer, vbUnicode)) Etc...Etc...blablabla What will be the equivalent on C# if any? Think about it - you are the foreground process getting all those nice priority boots from the hamsters running inside your PC, the poor old SDR console code is chugging along doing many things. You'll have to wait longer and give it a better chance of catching up. What I do is try a command three times until I get an understandable result, even if it's an error. Use Portmon, watch another program talking to SDR, compare the Portmon log to your own. Portmon comes from www.sysinternals.com . It's free - like the best things. Simon Brown, HB9DRV - Original Message - From: A.R.S. - W5AMI [EMAIL PROTECTED] Yes, I realized that not long after I posted my last message. I'm now letting it sleep 50 ms before trying to read the input buffer and that helps a lot, but still it misses some never returning anything. Maybe I need to increase my sleep time a bit, I could sure use it ;) ___ FlexRadio mailing list FlexRadio@flex-radio.biz http://mail.flex-radio.biz/mailman/listinfo/flexradio_flex-radio.biz Archive Link: http://www.mail-archive.com/flexradio%40flex-radio.biz/ FlexRadio Homepage: http://www.flex-radio.com ___ FlexRadio mailing list FlexRadio@flex-radio.biz http://mail.flex-radio.biz/mailman/listinfo/flexradio_flex-radio.biz Archive Link: http://www.mail-archive.com/flexradio%40flex-radio.biz/ FlexRadio Homepage: http://www.flex-radio.com
