Re: [Flexradio] 58 Degrees and rising ....
Hi Dudley, Thanks for the reply. Interesting you say the default for the fans is 70c, all the versions of PSDR I have used have had it set to 40c by default. If I start the temperature widget immediately upon starting PSDR the initial temp is normally around 22-26c, if I leave the radio on RX only the temp rises to around 30c very quickly and then hovers there until I start TXing, then it gets hot and the fans kick in. I'll keep an eye on things for future WSPR sessions. Mike. M0AWS http://www.m0aws.co.uk On 06/09/11 04:27, FlexRadio Support, Dudley Hurry wrote: Mike, Pretty well agree with Klaus.. Les, That feature is not available with the FLEX-1500 (or the SDR-1000), so adding it to an already crowded GUI may not be the best idea. However, a feature request I would like to see is for PowerSDR to remember that you are displaying the voltage/temperature window automatically display it, in the same position, the next time you start PowerSDR. Re: [Flexradio] Flex makes a great CW radio
Now this is a different issue. Thanks for describing it in detail. CW filters, like DIGx filters are dependent on center frequency. For CW it is the Pitch Frequency (or the click tune offset for DIGx). The filter's low and high cut values will always auto correct so that the the filter's center frequency is the CW pitch frequency (or the DIGx click tune value) no mater what you set the high and low cut skirts. So in the filter definition form, if you set the low and/or high cut settings to say 1000 and 400 respectively, you are defining a 600 Hz filter 1000-400=600). But if your CW Pitch frequency is 600 Hz, this newly defined 600 Hz filter will not have a center frequency of 600 Hz (the pitch frequency), so PowerSDR auto corrects the high and low cut values so that this newly created 600 Hz filters will center itself on the CW pitch frequency and the new high/low cut values are 900 and 300 Hz. This is the behavior you are observing. It does not behave like this for phone modes. -Tim --- Tim Ellison, W4TME Product Management, Sales Support FlexRadio Systems^(TM) 4616 W Howard Ln Ste 1-150 Austin, TX 78728 Phone: 512-535-4713 Ext. 223 Email: t...@flexradio.com mailto:t...@flexradio.com Web: www.flexradio.com http://www.flexradio.com logo /Tune In Excitement^(TM) PowerSDR^(TM) is a trademark of FlexRadio Systems/ On 9/6/2011 9:04 AM, dan edwards wrote: not here...change bands, modes, nearly anything...the width is correct, but the high and low are shifted down 400 hz ( to the other side of zero beat ) ___ FlexRadio Systems Mailing List FlexRadio@flex-radio.biz http://mail.flex-radio.biz/mailman/listinfo/flexradio_flex-radio.biz Archives: http://www.mail-archive.com/flexradio%40flex-radio.biz/ Knowledge Base: http://kc.flexradio.com/ Homepage: http://www.flexradio.com/

Re: [Flexradio] GUI question
hu, I though these were Software defined radios. Who writes the software? Maybe I'm missing the point but this seems to be a very basic human engineering question. One logically groups like functions together, like all of the mode buttons are together. I understand that 6m is native to the rig but the transverter settings are different, the end user should be able to put these controls where they want them. What about a Flex 5000 with the dual band transverter installed? Would these bands show up on the VHF sub menu? It just makes no sense to me that this isn't an option. ah HA !! so, if I want a 2 khz wide CWU filter for tuning dead bands for weak signals, and set low to 100 hz and high to 2100 hz, i MUST set the cw pitch to 1100 hz ? ok. except now i am 'married' to a pitch a bit too high for personal preference with narrower filters. so, like Cher told her last boyfriend? get over it 73, w5xz, dan --- On Tue, 9/6/11, Tim Ellison, W4TME t...@flex-radio.com wrote: From: Tim Ellison, W4TME t...@flex-radio.com Subject: Re: [Flexradio] Flex makes a great CW radio To: dan edwards w...@att.net Cc: t...@flexradio.com, K9DURRay k9...@rnacs.com, flexradio@flex-radio.biz Date: Tuesday, September 6, 2011, 1:39 PM Now this is a different issue. -Tim --- Tim Ellison, W4TME Product Management, Sales Support FlexRadio Systems™ 4616 W Howard Ln Ste 1-150 Austin, TX 78728 Phone: 512-535-4713 Ext. 223 Email: t...@flexradio.com Web: www.flexradio.com Tune In Excitement™ PowerSDR™ is a trademark of FlexRadio Systems On 9/6/2011 9:04 AM, dan edwards wrote: not here...change bands, modes, nearly anything...the width is correct, but the high and low are shifted down 400 hz ( to the other side of zero beat ) ___ FlexRadio Systems Mailing List FlexRadio@flex-radio.biz http://mail.flex-radio.biz/mailman/listinfo/flexradio_flex-radio.biz Archives: http://www.mail-archive.com/flexradio%40flex-radio.biz/ Knowledge Base: http://kc.flexradio.com/ Homepage: http://www.flexradio.com/

[Flexradio] PowerSDR Skins Tutorial Update, New Slider Packs, Three New Skins Available...
A few new things are available for those who are interested in custom skins for PowerSDR: A PDF version of the skins tutorial is now available in the files section of the Flex user group at Yahoo. It's available in the Files\Utilities folder: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/FlexRadio/files/Utilities/ Three new slider packs with the narrow track are available at the Skins Tutorial site. (You can install any slider pack by simply unzipping the file into any installed skin.) Three new skins are also available in the download section. (Heavy Metal, Dark Metal, and Dentron) For those who know how to install the custom skin packs, simply browse the available button packs and slider packs to see if there's anything that interests you, and then head to the bottom of the page where the downloads are. Each skin pack contains a custom console, custom buttons and custom sliders in one zip file. For those who are not sure how to install custom skins there are instructions for correct placement of the folders and their files. For those adventurous folks who want to be creative, there are templates so that you can build your own skins from scratch. Hopefully, someone with more artistic skills than me will get carried away and make some nice stuff for all of us! The site hit 1700 hits at noon today, so grab a few skins before my bandwidth limit is exceeded! Re: [Flexradio] Flex-5000A TX1, TX2, TX3
That isn't how the TX relays operate. it isn't a sequencer. When you press (assert) PTT, the TX relays close immediately. If there is a time delay value set, then RF is not transmitted until the delay time period expires. Example: TX Relay-1 is connected to an AMP and it has a TX time delay of 100 ms. ANT-1 is connected to the amp I press PTT The amps keys immediately No RF is allowed to egress the ANT-1 until 100 ms pass after pressing PTT. I hope that clarifies how it works, but I suspect that is not how you had intended it to operate. -Tim --- Tim Ellison, W4TME Product Management, Sales Support FlexRadio Systems^(TM) 4616 W Howard Ln Ste 1-150 Austin, TX 78728 Phone: 512-535-4713 Ext. 223 Email: t...@flexradio.com mailto:t...@flexradio.com Web: www.flexradio.com http://www.flexradio.com logo /Tune In Excitement^(TM) PowerSDR^(TM) is a trademark of FlexRadio Systems/ On 9/6/2011 4:50 PM, Kevin Hobbs wrote: Tim . can you please confirm if this is correct??? Re: [Flexradio] Flex-5000A TX1, TX2, TX3
TX1/TX2/TX3 do work as a sequencer (see Eric Wachsmann's 5/31/2011 reply to the FlexEdge reflector titled TX1 -2-3 info?). Tim's example is correct for a single TX line connected to an amp. However, TX1/TX2/TX3 are sequenced when using multiple TX lines with delays. In other words, TX1, TX2 and TX3 do not all turn on (connect to ground) simultaneously. Here's how the sequencing works when TX1, TX2 and TX3 are all selected for a given band: Push PTT 1. Flex 5000A switches to transmit, but no RF out 2. TX1 On (no delay) 3. Wait TX1 Delay 4. TX2 On 5. Wait TX2 Delay 6. TX3 On 7. Wait TX3 Delay 8. Flex 5000A RF Out Starts Release PTT 1. Flex 5000A RF Out Stops 2. Wait TX3 Delay 3. TX3 Off 4. Wait TX2 Delay 5. TX2 Off 6. Wait TX1 Delay 7. TX1 Off 8. Flex 5000A switches to RX **TXn On indicates that TX port n is connected to ground causing the relay to close; TXn Off indicates that TX port n is open (not connected to ground) causing that relay to open. This is exactly how you want a sequencer to behave. This also works if only pairs TX1/TX2, TX1/TX3 or TX2/TX3 are selected. Just skip the appropriate steps above involving the unused TX port and its delay. 73, Clay W7CE On 9/6/2011 2:28 PM, Tim Ellison, W4TME wrote: That isn't how the TX relays operate. it isn't a sequencer.
