I do not want to have another application like BobSmeter or DDutil running
on my computer
just to monitor the temp/voltage - Voltage and Current are available on my
power supply
I just want to be able to monitor temperature on the GUI without having
to start up another window

Hi All
You may read all comments regarding this topic at the link below

After nearly 3 years of operation of my Flex 3000 - mainly using digital
modes - I have come to believe that my radio cannot handle full tx power
using high duty cycle modes such as Olivia etc - In my climate (summer
time temps up tp 40c) the radio is not capable of cooling adequately at
any
more than approximately 30 to 40 percent of full output and even this
level
will take PA temps to 80c and above - I now believe that it is
imperative

that the PA temp is permanently displayed on the GUI and not
require operator intervention to display it Surely it is just a small
request to have this displayed when one considers the visual benefits of
having it displayed with a colour code to indicate critical temperatures
Owners Manual version 1.18.0 states as follows The keyboard
combination of Ctl-Shift-I will display the voltage and temperature.
Clicking on the temperature will alternate its value between Celsius or
Fahrenheit. Either value may be displayed against a yellow or red
background indicating levels of critically - I HAVE NEVER -EVER
-SEEN
THIS FEATURE WORK - Certainly would be nice to see the powers that be
relent

and accede to this request

[Flexradio] Frequency jump of 800Hz

2012-04-19 Thread Dick Kalt
I've had this happen before and sent the F5KA back to Austin. When the rig
is cold, just turned on, I see an 800Hz upward jump in frequency. Then after
about a minute or so it jumps back to the frequency I was originally on. I
think it's an RFIO board problem, but I'm wondering if there is any fix for
it without sending the radio back.again. Suggestions are welcome.

Re: [Flexradio] FlexRadio Digest, Vol 84, Issue 19

2012-04-19 Thread Chris Gerber
I am using my SDR1000's together with my F1.5k and F3K, with or without
M44 Delta cards with both Windows7 32 and 64 for years now, and its
working great.
But must say, it is for a beginners not so easy with a SDR1000 to solve
all the problems to set it up, and giving a newcomer a helping hand is a
real burden. I can understand Flexradio saying it doesent support s1k
anymore on W7 64.
One can not just buy a second hand SDR1000 and think to hook it to any
new computer, running the newest operating systems, equiped with pseudo
soundcards, not real 2 channel audio in/out.
Often it helps to use ziped program and datafolders from a already
running system and place them accordingly and see how it behaves, and
then add a newinstall. This are just suggestions..

Jerry,I can use Dragon to switch to a logger, enter a call sign, look up the
info on QRZ, and enter into the log. I do know that you can click boxes, or
move a mouse with it, I just don't yet know how. Maybe with two days of
experience I'll be able to move around PSDR.

IMHO, there may be something to this idea.  when making decent rate on cw

Re: [Flexradio] Delay MS is for ?????5000a buffer +acom 1000

2012-04-19 Thread Ray, K9DUR
Flex cannot give you a number because it is dependent on your amplifier. My
amp is rated at 15ms maximum time to switch from RX to TX. I set my delay
to 20ms to have a small safety margin.

The correct setting is not dependent on mode, only on the switchover time of
your amp. It is just that SSB is more tolerant of a longer delay than CW
is.

To set the delay, look up the maximum switchover time for your amplifier
according to the manufacturer's specs. Then set the delay equal to or
slightly greater than that value.

Re: [Flexradio] Delay MS is for ?????5000a buffer +acom 1000

2012-04-19 Thread Jim Jannuzzo

Paim,There is no "right" number. Some amps benefit from a longer switching
delay, some amps don't care. I have an Expert 1K, which had problems with
burned TX relays on older models. I also only use CW like a digital mode, not
with a keyer. Both of these tell me that 100 ms of added TX/RX switching
latency is not bad, and may help to lengthen the lives of the Expert relays.
If I was a crazy-fast keyer, or wanted real QSK break-in, and searched for the
minimum latency, I'd probably try less and less delay until the amp started
tripping off or showed other signs of hot-switching.Jim KJ2P

If you're on SSB or digital, a long delay of 100 ms doesn't hurt at all. If
you're a CW op, then the TX delay adds to the existing latencies. For CW, you
should try to keep it as short as possible.
The Acom is such a good amp, I bet it protects itself from hot-switching.

Paim-- I will try.
There are three separate lines for keying amplifiers or other equipment on the
back of the Flex 5000.

For each line, the application of RF power from the Flex may be delayed by the
ms setting.  That is, the amp line is keyed, then there is the ms delay before
RF power is applied to the amplifier.

I use it with my Ameritron solid-state amp.  If RF is applied to the input of
the amplifier at the same time as the amplifier line is keyed, I will receive a
fault trip on the amp as it is keyed. By applying a 50ms delay, the amp is
switched into transmit mode via the keying line first without drive power
applied, then 50 ms later RF drive is allowed and the amp is happy.

PowerSDR, when used with the SDR-1000 and the Delta44 sound card,
utilized the Delta44's control panel to set line-in and line-out gain.
This was designed using the XP Delta44 driver. M-Audio changed the

architecture of their driver and the requisite DLL is no longer
available with Vista and Win7. This it the reason for the error.

Re: [Flexradio] [FlexEdge] Voltage and Temp

2012-04-19 Thread Keith Goobie
A very effective interim solution is to use DDUtil. It does display this
info for 3000's and above (with colours). It is one of the many features
that makes DDUtil such a great package.

2012-04-19 Thread Francesco Reale
Thanks Tim for the information and interesting. Is there a solution? .. Eg
other audio card? microsoft windows xp the problem is the end of this year
ending support. Pull SDR1000 in the trash? I know this my problem. I hope to
find a solution in Vista or Win 7 32 bit.
I would like to know that they think the owners of SDR1000.
