[Flexradio] New Release of Flex 6300 will not install on the radio (1.7.30)

2016-05-22 Thread Don Plunkett
This new version will not upload to my Flex 6300. I get a message to the
effect that the software is incompatible with the radio. This happened with
the last release as well. Win10 and up to date. I can still open the radio
using the release 1.6.17.74 (at least that is the HW version on the flex).

Any ideas would be welcome.

IMHO, I believe that Flex is using Facebook for many reasons. One of them is to
spread the word of Flex to a different demographic. The future of Flex Radio is
for younger hams who grew up with computers to embrace the technology and take
Flex into the future.

I can understand that the average age of ham radio operators is over 50 and
therefore do not embrace the whole social media craze. I personally do not have
a Facebook account only out of the identity theft potential.

Michael, while I am with you in the spirit, my experience with listservs
and reflectors (and FB pages) is that they go where they want to go and
efforts to redirect them either get the razzberry or get ignored.

If you want to see fierce, unyielding attempts to make a reflector go where
a few individuals want it to go...and the utter lack of success those
individuals encounter, check out the Time Nuts.

The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but

Re: [Flexradio] New Release

2012-02-26 Thread Stephen Potter
Why don't we all give up this new fangled internet social medium, I mean who
needs bulletin boards, forums, email reflector's, social networking sites etc

Let's get back to radio net's I mean we are all radio amateurs aren't we, we
don't need this computer stuff?

Oh sorry I forgot, we have computers because we have the most technically
superior radio's available, and as such we have merged our radio passion with
'some' level of computer knowledge, passion or at the very least interest.

Heterogeneous social networking is what we do and have done for years using
many forms of radio, computer communications, and so why not add the latest
social sites such as Facebook to this optional list.

I have read a series of articles in a UK radio magazine about SDR radio's,
which while interesting, mentioned Flex-Radio in about 6 lines of text... it
seems obvious the author has no idea of the size of the flex family and the
number of its users around the world... If facebook helps to let people know
about Flex-radio then it has to be a great thing.

Remember, its OPTIONAL, choose one of several forms of social networking

Stick me with a fork! I have held this in for a LONG time but here goes.

Can't blame FLEX can you for not releasing the info here?

In the GOOD olden days we (FLEXERS)used to be able to help with the
updates on the Alpha and Beta testing (in my opinion the BEST part of the
FLEX experience now long gone) until people started to complain and gripe
about it.

Then they let us know when the next release may be finished and if it didn't
come out the exact second that was approximated people would trash the FLEX
programming team.

Now Tim has let it slip on another medium about the update on Face book and
now AGAIN every one is bitching about it again.

I think if this EMAIL group is to be worth anything in the future it is TIME
for a moderator to take over this EMAIL group.

If you don't want to join face book then don't why do you need to comment
about it.

Do us ALL a favor and stop the bitching about every little thing FLEX does
or doesn't do on YOUR time table it will ONLY hurt us as FLEX users and keep
every thing more hush hush.

Ask your self, would you work under these negative conditions?

You can flame me if you like but that doesn't mean this isn't the truth.

FLAMERS PLEASE do if off the list server by direct EMAIL so it doesn't take
up any more bandwidth and you don't look stupid to the whole group.

Re: [Flexradio] New Release

2012-02-25 Thread Jerry Falletta
Whether the information comes through a reflector, a forum, a Yahoo! group,
snail mail, or Facebook page, it appears that Flex is doing what it can to get
that information out in a timely manner. Another point to consider is that
maybe it really does not matter which of those web sites gets it out first
("scooping the story", as it were), but rather to consider that it is placed
out here. A lot of companies are very tight-lipped about new products and
releases, but Flex seems to be less so (within the bounds of legal and
corporate prudence). Try to get advance information from the other radio
companies - better yet try to get it from Apple - and see how far that goes.

Heck, I prefer they get it right the first time it is released (as they have)
rather than releasing info and/or a product too soon, only to fix it a day or
so later because of a problem caused by moving too quickly in the first place.

Now I have to get a Facebook page so I can read all the latest stuff. ;) Of
course, I will not post my face on Facebook, lest they shut the site down. :)

73's and please, lets be grown up's and be patient and appreciative of the
FLEX team and each other.

We have no plans for abandoning the reflectors. Facebook along with

defined radios. Some people like the conversational layout of Facebook
vs. the "point in time" dissemination of information that a reflector is

Re: [Flexradio] New Release

2012-02-25 Thread James Austin
Does anyone seriously believe that Flex will abandon these reflectors for
a Facebook group?

When the next release is ready, I have no doubts it will be announced on
both reflectors.

Sounds to me that are simply trying to drive a little activity to
the Facebook site.

1 in 12 human beings on the earth is currently on Facebook and the number keeps
rising. It is only logical that there would be a Flex community on Facebook. I
don't particularly care for it but it is here to stay. To be fair, the Facebook
postings cover a different aspect of our hobby and have been quite interesting.

It's a communication channel with nearly a billion (think Dr. Evil)
active users that can now discover Flex Radio. Im glad Flex set up a social
spot where bandwidth is used to share photos and video of our stations and
general chit-chat is the point. Participation is, of course, optional.

Why not a "knob option" to replace that featureless front panel and by all
means get rid of that panadapter stuff which does nothing but trigger
jealousy and bad feelings.

Re: [Flexradio] New Release

2012-02-24 Thread W6SDM Steve
I was digging through a dumpster out behind the Flex Radio offices and came
upon the following information scrawled on a notepad, heavily stained by
what looked like a chili-cheese burrito. It appears that these forward
looking statements may give us some insight into what to expect from the
next release of power SDR.

Integrated data decoder utility very much like DDUtil only with 32 control
ports and the ability to switch between three different rigs. The rotor
control window also has settings to interface with a garage door opener and
a beer dispenser.

Voice to CW converter. When the selected mode is USB or LSB and VFO-A is
in the CW portion of any band, speak into the mic and PSDR sends out
perfect code, speed and weight adjustable by the operator. No-code extras
will now be know-code extras.

Automatic Error Detection with Instant Online Support. As soon as a crash
or error is detected, a Skype video call is instantly made by PSDR to Tim
or Dudley’s office, home, or cell phone. You don’t even need to be in the
shack – Team Viewer pops up and they just fix whatever went wrong, sending
you an e-mail when it’s all better.

Support for a new wireless Flex Control device identical to the Nintendo
Wii. Now you can work that 20-meter pileup and take a few inches off that
gut at the same time.

So there you have it. ICOM, Yaesu, and Kenwood owners eat your heart out!

73,

Steve

Re: [Flexradio] New Release?

2007-05-29 Thread Eric Wachsmann
Trevor,

This release strategy is actually more typical of SVN development.
Typically the work goes on in one or more branches and then is migrated into
the trunk once finished. The SDR-X branch will be merged (really copied
over) the trunk once it is released for 1.10.0.

We have not made hard plans yet, but we may make the move to the trunk for a
brief Beta before it is released as 1.10.0 and tagged as such.

Note: If all of this branch, SVN, Beta, trunk, tags stuff confuses/scares
you, have no fear. You don't have to worry about any of this to enjoy your
radio.

Are you in a position to release any new additions into the official Flex SVN
branch -
doesn't appear to have been any updates there for sometime.

Jim,

I'm sorry I didn't see your original message. The plan has been and
continues to be to release 1.10.0 in correlation with the first shipments of
the FLEX-5000 in late June. In the meantime, if you are OK with Alpha
software, you can check out the latest in the SDR-X SVN branch as this is
what will become v1.10.0. Our apologies for the confusion.

[Flexradio] New Release?

2007-05-29 Thread Jim
Hi John,

Rather than use the relector, I inquired back in March about a new
release to supercede 1.8 and your reply was on or about May 15th there would
be an update. Could you tell me how that is coming along?? Thanks, John.

WE expect to release 1.10 on about May 15 to coincide with the Hamvention.
It will incorporate most if not all the features found in the FRS SVN. The
2.0 series is schedule for release before year's end.

Hi,

This directed to Eric. Eric, will there be a full release to supercede
1.8? Incorporating a lot of the features in the SVN? I am hesitant to use
the SVN's and use the full release only. I realize you fellows are busy
there, but just wondering. Thanks.

Re: [Flexradio] New Release 1.4.0

2005-07-08 Thread John Denson
Bob - I am seeing much the same thing on CW. At 20 WPM some of the leading
dits or days are being dropped (not transmitted). I could not find a semi
break in setting that would prevent this.

Hi Folks,
I was just fooling around with the new release. I sent a CQ on 20 meter cw
and was answered by a fellow that was sending slow.So I turned my keyer
down a bit and the semi- break in relays were chattering on me while I was
sending. So increased the delay time, I just figured that it was because I
was sending slower there were bigger gaps between the characters. But the
delay adjustment did not seem to have any effect, I adjusted it up from
about 600 ms to over a second and I am fairly certain that it goes back to
receive almost immediately after the last character. I may be wrong, but I
think that used to work on earlier releases. I usually send around 20 or
22 wpm, it is possible that at that speed I didn't notice the break in
timer (because the gaps between characters are smaller). But it is an
important adjustment when you QRS. ( I think that is the right Q signal
for slow down). Yes I have the box checked for semi break-in. Maybe I have
something else set up wrong?

Thanks,

Bob K6GGO
