Well I mannaged to unlock a load today.
Including almost beating the boss on hard.
Didn't realise it was worth almost beating the boss to get something.
ON one of the unlockables though it was mentioned a supprise had been activated.
What is said supprise, more importantly how do you activate it.
I have base integraty, rockets, nukes, and shield.
I presume there is another system active but how is it activated.

Re: [Audyssey] STFC 2.0 questionnaire.

2006-12-15 Thread Ken the Crazy
Here is how I would work it. You're planning your moves, in real time. As
you go from ship to ship, you scan and do all that--but it all takes time.
Then, if one ship gets into firing position, everything else stops and that
one ship becomes the focal point. All you can do is fly by the seat of your
pants and fight. When that ship's fighting is done, you either continue
commanding it, or in the event it is destroyed, you go to a nearby ship.
What if two engagements occur simultaneously? You just fight out the first
battle and then once it's over go to the second ship's battle.
Yeah, I know, the ships couldn't interact.
Hmm
Well, I guess the battle would be sort of turn based, the enemy not being
able to fire till you're done or if you wait more than five secs to fire.
By the way, just imagine real time combat--you aim at a ship, and press 1
for phasers. You hear a power-up sound, and when it gets to a desirable
high pitch, you hit space and nail 'em. To launch torpedoes, just hit 2 for
photon and 3 for quantum--as many times as you want so you don't have to
stop combat to tell the computer how many to launch.
Well, this all sounds kinda stupid written down, but |I'll send it on
anyway--maybe you can get something useful out of it.

 Hi,

 Quote
 I would love a real-time fleet-command game, but there is a
caveat. In order for that to be the most satisfying, the order
language would need to be sophisticated enough to allow for some
fairly fine control of your other ships.
 End quote

That does seam like one reason for ruling out real time play. Massive
real time command and strategy is difficult to program at best.
As you probably know GTC has simple instructions like go north, south,
east west, follow, stay, etc... I was thinking the same although that
doesn't really help plan major offensives.
The AI needed to successfully play would be complicated as the
Federation starships would have to be able to not just react to enemy
offensives but be able to go on the offensive as well.

 Quote
  I would also want the
ability to designate flag ships for different fleet elements and
switch back and forth between them, so as to be available to command
 conflicts in separate locations.
 End Quote

Yeah, that would be a problem. I wasn't thinking of switching commands
like that, but having one ship, and the others under AI driven commanders.
If you could switch you would potentially loose track of any offensive
under way under your previous command, and end up losing that ship or
 ships to enemy attack.

 Quote
This would mean that ships not
under command would need to have a fairly robust AI to handle
 themselves in combat.
 End quote

Yes, and is the most difficult aspect of going rts if it goes that way.

 Quote
A fleet command (based at a star base) would
also be useful so as to be able to monitor the entire military situation.
 End snip

Well, as over all commander of the fleet I would think you could gather
that info from anywhere you were.

Anyway, those are some good thoughts.

there's aeen a huge demand for the game so I'm working as fast as I can.
I'm as excited about the game as you guys are, so give me some time, and

I've certainly been impressed so far with Judgement Day. However, I've
played a few games without unlocking anything new or finding more trophies.
I beet the game several times on normal and easy. I have the confused
gunner, rocket rage and quick draw trophies. I haven't managed to unlock any
movies yet. I wouldn't mind some hints on how to unlock a couple of those.
Also, are there tutorials in the theatre? How do you get at those if they
exist? Those might actually be usefull.

I honestly wasn't certain how impressed I could be with another Space
Invaders-style game but this one's really won me over. I especially like how
playing the bonus games well can give your base better capability. That's
truly neat.

[Audyssey] judgement day coolness!

2006-12-15 Thread Everett Elam
Hey guys!
Does JD not rock? I mean we've had the knock 'em out of the sky games before,
but these sounds and stuff are a caress to the audio oriphus! Yeah, yeah. it's
been a looong day.
Nah, what I wish could happen is that you got different blips, warbles or
explosions for the number of points you score on a victim. Like say, you kill a
helicopter for 25 pts, you get the average glass shattering cool explosion. If
you hit it for maybe 40, it's a bit more defined. And about sixty you get a bit
more of a killer sound. An alternative to this would be to have a cool voice
anouncing the score in a way so that it wouldn't interfear with game play, or a
warble/blip/buzz/burp/bong thinger to let you know you scored a decent, good,
or outstanding hit.
Just a thought, Scott!
Take care fellow blindies! Love you all! Oo, or maybe the crew could letcha
know how your hit was. Oh yeah, one more thing. Athier sounds like Dr. Phill!
Bahahahaha!

Spirit. In every language in all the Realms, surface and Underdark, in every
time
and every place, the word has a ring of strength and determination. It is the
hero's strength, the mother's resilience, and the poor man's arm. It cannot be
broken, and it cannot be taken away.
This I must believe.

Is there away to set it so Zmud doesn't echo everything I type?
I would like to find a way to make a key combination for moving in

Lastly if jaws is reading text and I start to type, jaws stops reading and
 I
have to use the jaws cursor to read the screen.
Is there a way to stop this?
I really like this mud client.
Scripts for it would be nice, but since there doesn't seem to be any, all
help to make this program more user friendly would be greatly appreciated.
 Thanks in advance.

Hi. If you don't want to see or read about me venting then skip this
 now.

 .
 .
 .
 .
 .

 Still with me? Good.

 .
 .
 .
 .

This is not a flame by any means, nor is it an attack on any one person.
So, keep this in mind when reading my venting.

 .
 .
 .
 .
 .
 .

Ok, if you are still here, then read on.

I really get annoyed when people want the silver platter handed to them
not even a week after a game comes out. This great game has not even
been out for a week and already there are several messages from people
asking how to get trophies, how to unlock stuff, how to do this, that,
or the other. As Liam stated in an earlier message, part of the replay
value is in discovering the creative ways to unlock bonus games, get
trophies, more movies, etc. If the people who have done this were to
give out all the information then what replay value would this game
have? I feel this same way about using cheat codes to win the game.
Sure, if you use them, you can do some fun things, but then the game for
 me gets boring.

Ok, I'm off my soap box and I'm done venting.

 .
 .
 .
 .
 .

Now, back to gaming. I need to try and beat some of those awesome scores
 on the JD scoreboard.

 Hi Raul,
Yeah, I find when I put the GTC or SOD cheats in usually it ruins the
experience. What fun is it if I can kill without being seen or if the
 monsters can't kill you anyway.
Although, I do like the fact SOD has the cheat code unlock feature. You
must reach at least 2 points before obtaining the codes.
I'm on the fence when it comes to adding cheats for my own games. They
are easy enough to add, but I'd like to have some sort of unlock feature
if I did where they would have to beat the game once to get them, or
everytime he/she beat the game they got one cheat code.

Hi list, I obtained a copy of Zmud and I also have the JFW Zmud plug-in.
I have it configured to where it is usable, but there's some changes I
 would
still like to make if possible.
Is there away to set it so Zmud doesn't echo everything I type?
I would like to find a way to make a key combination for moving in
 different
directions instead of having to type n for north and so on.

Hey guys!
Does JD not rock? I mean we've had the knock 'em out of the sky games
before, but these sounds and stuff are a caress to the audio oriphus! Yeah,
yeah. it's been a looong day.
Nah, what I wish could happen is that you got different blips, warbles or
explosions for the number of points you score on a victim. Like say, you
kill a helicopter for 25 pts, you get the average glass shattering cool
explosion. If you hit it for maybe 40, it's a bit more defined. And about
sixty you get a bit more of a killer sound. An alternative to this would be
to have a cool voice anouncing the score in a way so that it wouldn't
interfear with game play, or a warble/blip/buzz/burp/bong thinger to let you
know you scored a decent, good, or outstanding hit.
Just a thought, Scott!
Take care fellow blindies! Love you all! Oo, or maybe the crew could letcha
know how your hit was. Oh yeah, one more thing. Athier sounds like Dr.
Phill! Bahahahaha!

Spirit. In every language in all the Realms, surface and Underdark, in
every time
and every place, the word has a ring of strength and determination. It is
the
hero's strength, the mother's resilience, and the poor man's arm. It cannot
be
broken, and it cannot be taken away.
This I must believe.

   Hi Raul,

My messages don't go through to the list as you know, would you mind
   passing this along?

I know this would probably be a lot of work, but it'd be awesome to have
some kind of feature telling you how you got your trophies. Sometimes I go
in the cabbinet, and find trophies that I have no idea how I got. Bord to
   death, for example..
Maybe when you go into the cabinet, you can press enter on a trophy, and
it'll tell you how you got it? Just a thought.
One last thing, sometimes when things are unlocked, it doesn't always let
you know. I sat in the main menu for awhile like Liam suggested in a
previous message, and I got uh... Something. But, I may have gotten two
things from that. I'm sorry if I just spoiled something, but I'm just
trying to figure this out. lol

   Take care all,
   Ryan C.

The lights are on but you're not home
   You've drifted off somewhere alone
Somewhere that's safe, no questions here
A quiet place where you hide from your fears
Sometimes when you're out of rope
The way to climb back up is clear
The walls you build around yourself
I guess they also keep you here
Are you afraid of what they think?
   Whoever they happen to be
Or are you hiding from the scars
   Of your own reality?
So you sedate and drown in vain
You've got a pill for every day
A suit and tie to mask the truth
It's ugly head is starting to show through
Sometimes when you're out of rope
The way to climb back up's unclear
The walls you build around yourself
I guess they also keep you here
Are you afraid of what they think?
   Whoever 'they' happen to be
Or are you hiding from the scars
   Of your own reality?
The monster you're feeding, your lack of perception
The things that you do to fulfill addictions
The light at the end of your tunnel is closing
What is it that you're so afraid of exposing
   You'd give it all up
For what's there for the taking
Whatever it takes to keep your hands from shaking
The same things you're thinking might make you feel better
The same things that probably got you here. - Aaron Lewis

My favorites in the movies series are living with liam, especially when he

The blind series.

ANd the rest.
Ofcause if you guys have been on www.liamerven.com you probably have the handy

Re: [Audyssey] jd movies

2006-12-15 Thread shaun everiss
Some you need to be lucky.
Ie 1213 requires you to be playing the game around said time.
There is a christmas trophy also.
with this one and 1213 one only need to start the game in order to get them.
Some of these trophies unlock theatre stuff, however you may need 2 or more
trophies to unlock bonus games.
A number of points can get you one trophy, and sometimes you can get 2 at
once,eg destruct comes with confused gunner and the rocket and + trophies may
come together as does tenderfoot and ledlovers.
Trophies like tenderfoot can be got by simply completing a level.
Trophies like close call are chance bassed.
You can't aim to get them because its chance.
I almost got to level 10 and got a lucky day trophy because I almost beat the
boss on the hard level during level9.
Other stuff is skill bassed, eg sticky fingers and its varients which I havn't
got yet.
Not the super one.
Others can be got by entering the bonus games, completing a sertain number of
games or getting a high enough score.
Some like bored to death and self destruct can be won by anyone, as can 1213
and christmas.
So can the average jo, ledlovers, and tenderfoot, self destruct and confused
gunner.
So can the cheater and total looser although with total loose you just need to
cheat just not using the god mode cheat and wait around on hard level till you
die.
Liam has made the sounds incripted most likely so us super techs don't listen
to things that are not unlocked yet.
The good thing is that unlocked things can be played again and again.
At 03:07 AM 12/16/2006, michael feir wrote:

movies yet. I wouldn't mind some hints on how to unlock a couple of those.
Also, are there tutorials in the theatre? How do you get at those if they

Should I try uninstalling and reinstalling it now that it's registered? I
doubt it'll help, but I can't think of anything else to try myself. I hope
you're still planning on trying to find out what the problem is. I don't
know what file or path error it's found ... and it doesn't help that it
doesn't give any kind of file names either! I downloaded the .net
libraries and the direct ex update that Thomas posted the other day, but
those haven't helped. Maybe I should uninstall and reinstall, but will I
have to get a new unlock code?

I'm looking forward to playing this game ... hopefully Liam can get it
working for me before I have to leave on Sunday going home for Christmas for
a couple of weeks. I haven't gone through all of my messages yet so maybe
he's sent me something giving me some ideas. It's frustrating having a
registered version and not being able to play it! But I know he's working
as fast as he can so I'm not complaining. Smile. Have fun gaming
everybody! Maybe I'll be able to contribute soon.

I'm on the fence when it comes to adding cheats for my own games. They
are easy enough to add, but I'd like to have some sort of unlock

[Audyssey] great job on JD was RE: jd movies

2006-12-15 Thread Tom Randall
HI Michael.

I agree with you 100%. I have not bought this game yet and when I first
heard about it I have to be completely honest here, i figured I very
likely would not. It seemed like it very well might be another
rendition of Troop and/or Alien Outback with some different and more
terrestrial type sounds and whatnot, kind of cool but not really worth
putting out the money. I am very pleased to report that I count myself
wrong on that one just from playing the demo. This game is quite
addicting and there is enough randomness to it to put replay value way
up there. So while I have not decided for absolutely certain, I am
pretty certain I will buy this one in the next month or so, cannot quite
swing the money right now what with Christmas and all. I am extremely
picky about what I buy, I either like a game or I don't and I don't buy
something just because it is new. I don't have a huge amount of time to
sit around and play games so I really have to like the ones I have, in
fact lack of time is much more an obstacle for me than is lack of money.
So, great job Liam and test team! Bravo!

Re: [Audyssey] just venting about people and JD trophies

2006-12-15 Thread Tom Randall
Hi Raul.

I agree with you 100% here. I have all the gma stuff and some of the
Draconus stuff and of course all of the BSC Games stuff. The replay
value totally goes away when you start employing too many cheat codes.
Sure if I am way up in a game of SOD I will sometimes use endless ammo
if I have the cheat code to avoid losing the game. But I do not do this
all the time, in fact I wish there was a way to turn it off when you are
done with it e.g. when you find some real ammo to use so you could get
the original chalenge back. One thing that I like that we did in the
BSC games such as pipe 2, sure we put the cheat codes in there and you
can use them and have fun with them all you want to, but you cannot
completely finish the game if you are using them and you cannot post
scores if you are using them. I think this is a good idea to do
particularly with games where a person can post scores, this keeps them
from taking advantage of others by posting scores that were not honestly
gotten.

Re: [Audyssey] Hello, and a quick intro...

2006-12-15 Thread Tom Randall
Hi Cara, welcome to the list.

I have audio quake installed and I have played with it some and I find
it very intriguing but I have to be honest I have not gotten very far
with it and cannot really make heads or tails of the gameplay. Part of
the problem is that the links to the sounds in the manual, at least the
manual that I have, do not work very often, this makes trying to learn
the sounds extremely difficult at best. I will have to see if this has
been fixed as I have not checked in a while. Don't get me wrong I think
audio quake is a fantastic project and I really look forward to seeing
where it goes. This is what a lot of us have been wanting for a long
time a way to play games that other people play not just blind folks.
I'd say the learning curve is pretty steep though lol.

Re: [Audyssey] great job on JD was RE: jd movies

2006-12-15 Thread shaun everiss
you should buy it man.
Firstly you have to use your instincts in this game, especially on hard and
ultra levels.
One thing to all of you guys that is good is the satelite and the boss.
In hard the satelite comes at you much faster.
I usually can get 2 passes on him before he fires.
Then there is the boss.
He is quite easy.
Shoot his rockets and him.
Like it as much that you can get him.
Actually chances are that when you shoot his rockets he is at the position he
fired the rocket and you can get at least 5 shots in he will die if shot enough.
The satelite is like the laser levels in superliam.
You need to wait a second if you have time.
One thing though is don't think, don't lay off the trigger.
Because if you do you will be out of sink.
And if you are then you can kiss good bie to your base.

I've certainly been impressed so far with Judgement Day. However, I've
played a few games without unlocking anything new or finding more
trophies.
I beet the game several times on normal and easy. I have the confused
gunner, rocket rage and quick draw trophies. I haven't managed to unlock
any
movies yet. I wouldn't mind some hints on how to unlock a couple of
those.
Also, are there tutorials in the theatre? How do you get at those if
they
exist? Those might actually be usefull.

I honestly wasn't certain how impressed I could be with another Space
Invaders-style game but this one's really won me over. I especially like
how
playing the bonus games well can give your base better capability.
That's

Re: [Audyssey] just venting about people and JD trophies

2006-12-15 Thread shaun everiss
well in judgement day you have to cheat to get a couple bonuses.
What I try to do is complete as many levels as I can and try to get the trophy
to beat each levels and beat all the levels to get every trophy.
I suspect that now I have unlocked the ultra, and hard trophies that I should
be able to get more trophies on the easy and normal levels and then unlock more
for the hard and ultra levels.
This is really addictive.
I played the game a load last night.
Then I checked my clock and it was 12 am.
And I had to be places today and well hmmm.
At 02:31 PM 12/16/2006, Tom Randall wrote:

I agree with you 100% here. I have all the gma stuff and some of the

value totally goes away when you start employing too many cheat codes.
I think this is a good idea to do
particularly with games where a person can post scores, this keeps them
from taking advantage of others by posting scores that were not honestly
gotten.

Now, back to gaming. I need to try and beat some of those awesome scores

on the JD scoreboard.

 you should buy it man.
Firstly you have to use your instincts in this game, especially on hard
 and ultra levels.
Actually chances are that when you shoot his rockets he is at the
position he fired the rocket and you can get at least 5 shots in he will
 die if shot enough.
The satelite is like the laser levels in superliam.
You need to wait a second if you have time.
One thing though is don't think, don't lay off the trigger.
Because if you do you will be out of sink.
And if you are then you can kiss good bie to your base.

rendition of Troop and/or Alien Outback with some different and more
terrestrial type sounds and whatnot, kind of cool but not really worth
putting out the money.
Bravo!

Re: [Audyssey] STFC 2.0 questionnaire.

2006-12-15 Thread Ken the Crazy
I think that you should make a real-time, one-ship game first since we
already have a turn-based one. Yeah, I know it needs improving and all, but
I have no complaints about STFC 1 except that you can't load and save games,
so I'm pretty satisfied.

 Hi,
 Quote
if you go the real-time route, you are going to
need exceptions in the Federation ship AI for ships not directly
under command to deal with cloaked ships as it is.
 End quote

Perhaps so. They would have to scan only starships that were decloaked,
and target them based on some set of AI which would be pretty complex
 and time consuming to write.

 Quote
   I don't think you
 can escape that.

 End quote

You are probably right. I am finding your comments and everyone elses
thoughts very helpful in this matter. It is beginning to look like real
time might not be impossible, but would likely be to complex for what I
 have in mind.
If I did so I'd have to sell the game to make up for all the work of
converting it to real time. With the turn based style I have the basic
infastructure in place as well as my memory of how I did things, and the
 logic used for the AI.
So perhaps what we really want is to different games. One turn based
classic STFC, and one real time game called something else.

 you should buy it man.
Firstly you have to use your instincts in this game, especially on hard
 and ultra levels.

Bravo!

That's
truly neat.

Re: [Audyssey] STFC 2.0 questionnaire.

2006-12-15 Thread Thomas Ward

Hi Ken,
Well, I don't think of yur suggestions as stupid, but I do think it is
sort of impractical
Smile.

.Ken the Crazy wrote:

[Audyssey] GMA Engine was judgement day

2006-12-15 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Don,
GMA's Engine is pretty nice for amature developers, but it does have a
pretty big price tag attached to it.
I'd only go for the engine if you were seriously considering commercial
development. Otherwise it is much cheaper to learn a language such as
C#.NET, download Visual C# Express for free, DirectX SDK, and start
writing games.

Re: [Audyssey] Hello, and a quick intro...

2006-12-15 Thread Cara Quinn
   Hi Tom et al'

well honestly, not to play up JQ too much, but Jedi Quake vs standard
Quake are two different experiences. JQ speeds up the game play to a crazy
degree as compared with standard Quake, as well as adding a vertical
element to the 3D environment with the ability to fly, force jump, and use
a grappling hook, and offers many additional and customizable features to
the game.

As far as the learning curve, yes, there are some short comings to the
present manual, but Matthew and others have been putting a lot of time and
energy into the project of late so it is coming along.

As someone here has already said in regard to JD, (which I'll quote in
regard to AQ or JQ) if you go on instinct, it should make more sense. I
think the present incarnation of AQ really does a great job at simulating a
3D environment spatially as you move within it.

anyway, I'd love to help out if I can, to make the learning curve easier
for people, so please, by all means, the more feedback like this, the better.

Thanks so much and have a great weekend and holiday season!!!...

Smiles,

Cara
