Re: [Audyssey] sryth jaws short keys

2007-03-02 Thread Everett Elam
Heck yeah! Maybe he could add a multimedia option for the dungins with some
nice spooky sounds randomised or something. But isn't there a way I could
have jaws find a specific word or area of the screen to make navigation a
bit more mud like? I love this game because it's my own. I don't have a
bunch of morons picking up eq I went through dungins and mazes for only to
discover its not there, becuase either someone has taken it or it 'hasn't
loaded'
however you've gotta agree that some of the commands on muds are soo
much faster. Either way, Im adicted, consumed and all together taken with
this game.

I do a couple of things to make my game playing quicker.
If you use the letter B for buttons you can move between buttons quickly.
In some adventures, I will place a bookmark on a certain part of the page,
for instance I placed one at move to the center of the clearing for the
 statues quest.
You can do this by pressing control shift K and adding one in the place
 you
desire. To get back to it press K.
Finally hitting F3 and using the find command is great for long lists of
 things.
 Hope this helps,
 Grace

Yep, it works fine with 4.0. That's the version I'm using right now. I
know, I'm behind the times I guess. I'm still using Windows Millennium
 too
and I bet I'm the only one. Everyone else is using XP and higher
 versions
of Jaws or Window Eyes, but I figure as long as this system still works
I'll stick with it. Other than having to reformat a couple of times I
haven't had any problems with it and I bought it five years ago, so it's
 been decent to me.

Hmm. Sorry I haven't posted much in these past few, but I've been busy. I
think the only way to really go about this is by doing what fs has done with
pocket pc. Instead of creating something which is completely blind friendly,
Freedom Scientific has introduced the pac mate which, while limited in some
aspects is just amazing because you can buy some things directly off the
shelf from your local office depot or best buy and use them. It's what kara
did with quake, though I understand that quake is completely open source.
However, as apple says, built in, not bolted on... or together I suppose.
Lates guys, sorry if I'vve woken up a dead horse that's already been beaten.

[Audyssey] you guys are talking about srith too much! argh!

2007-02-10 Thread Everett Elam
Heh hey guys. I tried srith for a while and even bought the 3 dollar member
thingy just wanting to get a taste of the full thing, but is there something
I'm missing. The writing is wonderful, but I don't find it fun clicking on link
after link and scrolling down through different stuff to read, type, read. Also
when I started, a list of adventures were lined out for me and I picked one,
only to discover I didn't have stats or anything for that particular one. Maybe
since I played AA and it's sort of my love in the text game genre, I just don't
want to move to anything else. but is there something I'm missing? These
weapons sound cool, and it sounds like the games really fun. Contrary to the
subject line of this e-mail, I'm wondering if someone could write out an
outline or give me a place to start off if I were to embark on srithy things
again.
Love you guys!

I was planning to put up a new link to the Sarah game a month ago but ran

I should have removed the link.
 Sorry,
It will be some time in February before I can post a new version.
This is because David Greenwood who is helping me fix the bugs is away for

[Audyssey] top speed

2007-01-21 Thread Everett Elam
Is it just me, or are the turns in ts2 delayed just a bit? I just played with
my friend over the internet and he killed me, even though I've had the game
longer. He told me he doesn't even have to slow down for the turns on the
Belgium track. When I stay still ad turn, the turns sound clipped a bit as they
swich from chan to chan, even though I've got a g of ram and a pretty good
processer. Anyone else had this prob? Going to install it on a comp at work
tomorrow to see if I can turn easier on that one.

I dunno, if you can't find 'em, make 'em. Do you know what George Lucas used
for one of those speeders? A shaver moving around in a glass bowl pitch

I feel the good outweighs the bad in this situation. When something new is
developed there's always the potential for misuse, but if we dwell only on
that and not the good uses to which it could be put, we'd never get
anywhere. As for sounds, they crop up in multiple audio games all the
 time.
Like it or not, sound effects aren't easy to come by when you're a blind
 guy
with not a whole lot of money, especially good quality ones. As for
showcasing the games, you can always zip them and Email them to people.
 And
I think the AGM web site's going to host some.

I understand that this things gonna have limitations, but the point I'm
trying to make is that there are gonna be some who are going to try putting
out a game as soon as possible just so they can say whee! I did it! and
that's not what this whole thing is about. I don't mean to be repetitive,
but this really bugs me. I know we don't have a chance against someone who
really knows their stuff as far as program because this thing is going to be
a beta which screams yikes to me anyway. However, I just hope people push
this thing to its limits instead of making a gae where you shoot the dogs

[Audyssey] a few thoughts about what audio game maker could cause

2007-01-19 Thread Everett Elam
Lo all,
I'm sorry if this is a redundant inquiry, but my laptops been down for a few
weeks and i'm just now getting through all these posts. The question that keeps
nagging at me as this audio game maker release draws near is, how are people
gonna showcase their games? Are we just gonna post yousendit and senddspace all
over the place and ask for paypal donations? Are sound effects we've heard
hundreds and hundreds of times gonna just spring up with a vengence? Please
please people, I know we have a new tool which could seriously rock, but lets
keep story and finesse in the picture... er sound spectrum while we explore.
Try to make plots original, and if you're gonna remake a game, do it as right
and as unique as possible. I'm not claiming to be perfect and I totally know
this thing is gonna put a damper on my hunt for scholarships and college
applying, but if I decide to turn out a game I'm gonna put everything I
possibly can into it. If someone criticizes your game, take it and write it
down and consider it no matter how obscure it is. I'm not a developer or a
programmer, but I'm just scared we're gonna see a game where we can say, oh,
he used this a and did this and oh! I've heard this sound before! Durrr!
Lets use this tool to the max and make some killa games! *thumps chest*
Take care you guys, can't wait til Feb 1!Sneezes and signs off, moos
plaintively at Thomas and sniffs Dark's furry feet

 Hi Cara,
Like allot of us Liam is using InnoSetup. I recently switched to it for
Montezuma's Revenge Alpha 2 and STFC 1.0. It is a nice installation tool.
To the best of my knolege Liam is still using VB 6.0 for his games.
 Cara Quinn wrote:

How does one know where each level begins and ends? I simply played
until it told me the demo was over... The demo plays the first five
 levels, yes?...
-Not sure how to distinguish between them...

Anyway, Liam, a couple of tech questions; out of curiosity, which
installer did you use? I like it a lot! It has a very clean interface
 and
I like the ability to easily read the docs from within the install
 program...
Secondly, what language did you code this in, if you don't mind my
 asking?...

Anyway, great job! really really fun!... smile

Will visit the site to check out pricing and such...

Anyway, thanks for all of your effort!!! The game rocks!...

run rampant through the store in this fation but I didn't cause too much

KYou could make a game out of this type of experience, navigating your

 Could be quite interesting.
Throw in a few plot devices like store clerks chasing you, pilfering

 would
 be
sound cues for if your line was about to break, etc. I think my

Just wondering what different types of handheld games people know of
 here?
The only ones I'm aware of are the bop it, top it, and some other
 game
that had different colored sides and you had to flip around to the
 right
color. forgot the name of that one.
Does anyone know of any other good ones? I'm thinking of getting a

word stupid to describe your opinion of something.

It's like if I did not like the air plane sound of Judgment Day, I would
say something like, I don't like the sound, it's too quiet or it's not
realistic enough for me. Instead of saying, the air plane sound of
 Judgment Day is stupid.

 Hi,

There is a multitude of DVD TV games out this Christmas - Deal or No Deal,
Trivial Pursuits, Who Wants To Be A Millionaire and many more. You don't
 use
a PC, just your TV remote control, so I guess it's just multiple choice
 type
questions, moving the cursor around and pressing Ok. I have two questions
for the knowledgable people on this list:-

 1. Has anyone tried any of these games and are they accessible?

 2. Does anyone know how you would develop a game like this, that would
 work
on a DVD player and TV? I think there may be some interesting
 possibilities
here, like doing a side-scrolling adventure game.

 Cheers,
 Steve

some goofy fun sort of games that I might like, especially if it had tons
of comedic responses to what you cause to happen. Another idea to add
 into
the game is that other characters are also throwing stuff at you, because
you are actually a customer, right?? And you would not be the only
frustrated customer, right?? The game takes place right around Christmas
time, and every online player, oops, now there's another fun aspect of the
game, huh?, would be able to use their mike or keyboard to convey messages
heard by others when something happens. The object of the game is to exit
the store in the same condition you were in when you arrived.

Ok, first of all, I know that I'm new to this list and my messages are a
bit goofy sometimes and I hope I'm not irritating any of you. That's not
 what I'm out to do.
I'm seriously asking for this. I'm going to assume all the blindies here
are familiar with walmart... hahaha. I want a game where you go around
trashing walmart and getting points for what you destroy, how bad it is
destroyed, etc. I'm serious as sin. If I get a sterio recorder, I'd go
 out
and record samples of walmart and anything else and send them into a
developer. I'd pay upwards of $50 for this! We need it! It needs
 realistic
stereo/surround sound, good voice acting and funny scenes so Its not just
a bobbies revenge sourt of thing, but omfg would that not be great? Come
on! How many of you haven't gone into walmart and thrown something into
the next aisle only to hear an old lady shriek in surprise as she's
 bonked
on the head? Or how many of you have gone into the pepsies and shaken
every last one of them so that the next unfortunate customer will pick it
up and turn their kitchen into a catastrophe? Liam? Tom? Drop whatever
 you
are doing, and make me this game!
Seriously, action and adventure is awesome, rpg is wicked, but don't you
guys think we need some funny games too? My sense of humor is my life
 line
to sanity, which is probably why I'm so adamant about this, but I think
 it
 would be just awesome.
Take care and discuss it please! I think it would rock!

 Hi Shaun,
Laptops are nice and portible, but I really don't like the keyboards on
them. Especially, for games. just last night I was on the road when I
decided to play Lonewolf. Since there is no gaps on my keyboard between
the f4 and f5 keys, every time I wanted to open the torpedo doors, fire,
raise or lower the scope I kept hitting the wrong function key. It drove
me half mad. The only way I really get productive on laptops is by
plugging in an external full sized keyboard.Which reduces some of the
 portability.
Just the other day I was in Sam's club, and saw a laptop like mine,
except it had a built in full sized keyboard. Now, that truly bites!

 Hi,

I got an article from another list and it lists some toys which have
 speech:-

Lucky the Incredible Wonder Pup (Zizzle)
 Jibbi TV (Radica)
SurfBoard Voice Activated Remote Control (Innotech Systems)
BRATZ Talking Alarm Clock (MGA Entertainment)
 Amazing Allysen (Playmates)
 Furby (Hasbro)
 Amazing Amanda (Playmates)
 BBK Electronic Dictionary (BBKUSA)
 Scamps, My Playful Pup (Hasbro)
 Password Journal (Girl Tech)
Wise Crackin' Shrek and Donkey (Hasbro)

Judging from the titles, some of them are aimed at 3 year olds. So they
should appeal to a couple of people on this list.

 Have fun,

 be
sound cues for if your line was about to break, etc. I think my cousin

to beat someone with it so... it doesn't make much noise anymore. Anyone

The only ones I'm aware of are the bop it, top it, and some other game

Does anyone know of any other good ones? I'm thinking of getting a

sounds cool! methinks i'll have to check that out.

My mum was royally annoyed after she gleefully presented me with a
 boppit,
for me to take to get the max 250 score on it within a half hour train
 journey.

Last Christmas she attempted to (in her words), Occupy my mind with a
boppit extreme, only to have me gain a score of over 800 on beat botp
 and
over 600 on vox bop in the first day, (after that point I got slightly
board, but I probably ought to find out at some point if the thing conks
 out
when you get to a thousand).

anyway the upshot of all this is that I'd love an actually challenging
 puzle
game for those long train journeys (presumably it takes headphones),
 when
 I
 don't have my computer handy.

 Hi,
Nemesis Factor is a puzzle game. It is a hand-held game, where you
 must
complete up to 100 puzzles to complete it. Puzzles can involve
 pressing
the five colored buttons in a certain order, combinations, covering
 or
uncovering a light sensor, twisting and turning the device, etc.
 Every
puzzle is accessible, and it is a lot of fun.

Hello all. This is Scott. I'm curious if anyone has heard of or played
on discworldmud at discworld.imaginary.com port 23 I've got a couple of
characters on the game but am having some trouble figuring things out
there. Most especially, how to advance and get help getting around.
Obviously the maps are going to be somewhat useless to me and the city I'm
in is rather huge. If someone could contact me off list so I could talk
things out more it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks much,
 Scott

 HiDamien and all,
Just wanted to point out a few more things on this. I did a search on
Microsoft.com and found the following information:

The following link has commands relative to 95, 98, and ME but work for XP
 also:

 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/126449/

I found this nifty keyboard command along with others. check it out.

 SHIFT+Windows Logo+M: Undo minimize all

For keyboard commands for XP only check out

 http://www.microsoft.com/enable/products/KeyboardSearch_XP.aspx

I found the answer for my query. It is:

Lock your computer if you are connected to a network domain, or switch
 users
if you are not connected to a network domain.

Re: [Audyssey] List of handheld games?

2006-12-20 Thread Everett Elam
Hm there was a fishing game I had a long long time ago that was mega
accessible. I don't even know if it's being made anymore-- it was made by
tigered. You'd turn the reel while adjusting your tention and there would be
sound cues for if your line was about to break, etc. I think my cousin tried
to beat someone with it so... it doesn't make much noise anymore. Anyone
know about this? I loved it. there were eight levels, but I never beat it.
It gets pretty hard, but there are sound cues for everything.

 Hello all,
Just wondering what different types of handheld games people know of here?
The only ones I'm aware of are the bop it, top it, and some other game
that had different colored sides and you had to flip around to the right
color. forgot the name of that one.
Does anyone know of any other good ones? I'm thinking of getting a
handheld with in the next few days. Getting tired of bop it. lol
 thanks!

Hello Cara. That is interesting. I have never heard the context menu
 key
be called the right windows-key. Although it would make sense in the
case of it not being usually on the right, but also because it
 simulates
the right-mouse-click. How about you and I start a new campaign. We
 call
the left windows the start button key since that is essencially what it
does, and the right windows key the context-menu key since that is what
 it brings up?

 What do you say?

Nah, you are a busy person, LOL.

 Thanks in any case.

 * Cara Quinn [EMAIL PROTECTED] [2006-12-19 06:11]:
I believe that method should work regardless of whether extensions
 are
showing, but thanks for the note. smile

As far as the right windows key, I certainly don't want to cause
 any
confusion, but most people I know, call that key the right windows
 key,
rather than the applications key, and the other, the left windows key,
 so
effectively, some keyboards would have two left windows keys on them.

smile Am certainly not saying that you're wrong, and it may be a
matter of people simply using an incorrect name for a key, no biggie.
 The
only place I've ever heard that key called an applications key is in
context of a screen reader, so perhaps that's correct.

Anyway, thanks for the note and have an awesome day!...

 Smiles,

Everett, well that seems to be an issue with a lot of others here as
well, which I'll clear up soon. A new copy of the manual with working
links may already be written, but I need to get in touch with the person
who did it so it may take me a few days. Once I locate them, I'll post
 the
manual on my ftp site, and that way the sounds will be a whole lot easier
 to figure out.

You should have as much functionality as anyone else. The only diff
between the shareware Quake and the standard release is that the standard
 release has more maps.

As it is now, you can visit:

 http://tbrn.net/modgirl

and download either one of the two AQ installs from the AQ folder.

Once you have it installed, you can go into your Audio Quake folder, and
then into your id1 folder, and finally into your sounds folder, and there
you will find several folders containing sounds which you can play. their
names should be pretty self explanatory so yu can get acquainted with some
 of the sounds for now.

After that, see my last post, about connecting to a server running JQ
unless you'd like to download the latest release which is on the same ftp
site, and install it yourself. It's up to you...

Anyway, hope this helps, and will let the list know when I've posted the
 new manual...

 Smiles,

 Cara

Ok,thanks Thomas that sounds doable. Might modify that slightly by
dividing everything by ten and rounding the 5's up.
The tricky point here is how to manage a circuit with online racing, when
some folks won't be able to join races due to time zone differences and
 schedule conflicts.
I am thinking of running qualifiers, then having a set date for the main
race, with two races spaced 12 hours apart, then I would have the code
 merge
the two races best times for the points.
This online play is tricky business, but makes playing the game a lot
 more
fun as it is always more enjoyable to beat other humans in my opinion.

[Audyssey] comedy game... maybe?

2006-12-20 Thread Everett Elam
Ok, first of all, I know that I'm new to this list and my messages are a bit
goofy sometimes and I hope I'm not irritating any of you. That's not what I'm
out to do.
I'm seriously asking for this. I'm going to assume all the blindies here are
familiar with walmart... hahaha. I want a game where you go around trashing
walmart and getting points for what you destroy, how bad it is destroyed, etc.
I'm serious as sin. If I get a sterio recorder, I'd go out and record samples
of walmart and anything else and send them into a developer. I'd pay upwards of
$50 for this! We need it! It needs realistic stereo/surround sound, good voice
acting and funny scenes so Its not just a bobbies revenge sourt of thing, but
omfg would that not be great? Come on! How many of you haven't gone into
walmart and thrown something into the next aisle only to hear an old lady
shriek in surprise as she's bonked on the head? Or how many of you have gone
into the pepsies and shaken every last one of them so that the next unfortunate
customer will pick it up and turn their kitchen into a catastrophe? Liam? Tom?
Drop whatever you are doing, and make me this game!
Seriously, action and adventure is awesome, rpg is wicked, but don't you guys
think we need some funny games too? My sense of humor is my life line to
sanity, which is probably why I'm so adamant about this, but I think it would
be just awesome.
Take care and discuss it please! I think it would rock!

 Hi,
Well, braille writers still have there place for labeling up Christmas
Cards and things like that, but yeah they are pretty outdated.
I remember when I was in college around 97 or so they wanted me to
braille my answers up on the braille writer. I firmly told them no, and
told them I'd type it up on a computer, or I wouldn't take the test. I
 got the computer. Grin.

Hello everyone. Tom did an excellent job in describing how to go nomail
using the web interface which I personally find the easier method.
However there is an email method as well which I'll show next.

To view or change your list settings you can do the following by sending
an email to gamers-request.org. In the body of your message always start
off by authenticating yourself with the line:

 set authenticate your list password

Here you would replace the your list password with your real list
password. The next line should have the line:

 set show

which will return an email with your current list settings.

If you want to change a list setting use the list setting with the word
off. For example, to go no mail you would put:

 set delivery off

So, the entire message would look something like this:

 To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
 Subject: no subject today

 set authenticate mypassword
 set delivery off
 end

The optional end command is just telling Mailman that you are done and
to not try and process your signature, unless of course your signature
starts with three dashes the way netiquette says it should smile.

For all of this as you have seen, you need to know your list password.
You should receive that every month automatically, however if you need
to get it again, send an email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] and in the
body of the message simply put the word: password by itself. Again, you
could put end or two dashes after, see the signature note above smile.

 Hope this helps.

 Hi all,
Over the past few months most of you have indicated a desire to follow
James North's original plan for Montezuma's Revenge. As a result I have
been doing much work in Alpha 2 to restore some of the original look and
feel of the game to that of the Alchemy games demo.
One area I am uncertain about in making changes is the voice to voice
the game. In the original Alchemy version James North was using ATT
Audry as the voice of the game. That was cool, and I can easily restore
 that.
However, in the USA Games version I switched to Neospeech Kate. Which
was good, but not the original plan for the game.
My question is which of the two voices would you guys wish to be the
default voice for the game. Do you guys want Neospeech Kate, or ATT
 Audry?
 Thanks.

don't think, don't stop, don't even look at your base stats.
And try to stay with your machine guns when ever possible.
Use shield when you absolutely need as it needs recharging and if you must
use a nuke or rocket, try to keep your machine gun rythm up.
Firstly you should try to get to level 10 al almost get there.
Then you should beat the entire thing.

[Audyssey] jd on hard

2006-12-16 Thread Everett Elam
Hey!
To those who've beaten jd on hard, you have my respect! They come in so fast
and just blow me away around the seventh level! Instincts or no, this game
makes me angry!

[Audyssey] judgement day coolness!

2006-12-15 Thread Everett Elam
Hey guys!
Does JD not rock? I mean we've had the knock 'em out of the sky games before,
but these sounds and stuff are a caress to the audio oriphus! Yeah, yeah. it's
been a looong day.
Nah, what I wish could happen is that you got different blips, warbles or
explosions for the number of points you score on a victim. Like say, you kill a
helicopter for 25 pts, you get the average glass shattering cool explosion. If
you hit it for maybe 40, it's a bit more defined. And about sixty you get a bit
more of a killer sound. An alternative to this would be to have a cool voice
anouncing the score in a way so that it wouldn't interfear with game play, or a
warble/blip/buzz/burp/bong thinger to let you know you scored a decent, good,
or outstanding hit.
Just a thought, Scott!
Take care fellow blindies! Love you all! Oo, or maybe the crew could letcha
know how your hit was. Oh yeah, one more thing. Athier sounds like Dr. Phill!
Bahahahaha!

Subject: [Audyssey] Configuring Zmud

Hi list, I obtained a copy of Zmud and I also have the JFW Zmud plug-in.
I have it configured to where it is usable, but there's some changes I
 would
still like to make if possible.
Is there away to set it so Zmud doesn't echo everything I type?
I would like to find a way to make a key combination for moving in
 different
directions instead of having to type n for north and so on.
Lastly if jaws is reading text and I start to type, jaws stops reading and
 I
have to use the jaws cursor to read the screen.
Is there a way to stop this?
I really like this mud client.
Scripts for it would be nice, but since there doesn't seem to be any, all
help to make this program more user friendly would be greatly appreciated.
 Thanks in advance.

Hi. If you don't want to see or read about me venting then skip this
 now.

 .
 .
 .
 .
 .

 Still with me? Good.

 .
 .
 .
 .

This is not a flame by any means, nor is it an attack on any one person.
So, keep this in mind when reading my venting.

 .
 .
 .
 .
 .
 .

Ok, if you are still here, then read on.

I really get annoyed when people want the silver platter handed to them
not even a week after a game comes out. This great game has not even
been out for a week and already there are several messages from people
asking how to get trophies, how to unlock stuff, how to do this, that,
or the other. As Liam stated in an earlier message, part of the replay
value is in discovering the creative ways to unlock bonus games, get
trophies, more movies, etc. If the people who have done this were to
give out all the information then what replay value would this game
have? I feel this same way about using cheat codes to win the game.
Sure, if you use them, you can do some fun things, but then the game for
 me gets boring.

Ok, I'm off my soap box and I'm done venting.

 .
 .
 .
 .
 .

Now, back to gaming. I need to try and beat some of those awesome scores
 on the JD scoreboard.

 Hi Raul,
Yeah, I find when I put the GTC or SOD cheats in usually it ruins the
experience. What fun is it if I can kill without being seen or if the
 monsters can't kill you anyway.
Although, I do like the fact SOD has the cheat code unlock feature. You
must reach at least 2 points before obtaining the codes.
I'm on the fence when it comes to adding cheats for my own games. They
are easy enough to add, but I'd like to have some sort of unlock feature
if I did where they would have to beat the game once to get them, or
everytime he/she beat the game they got one cheat code.

Lo everyone!
Never been part of a list before but it looks like everyone jsut says what
they say, so I'm gonna just follow the lemmings *grins*
Nods I tried ordering JD too, but it gave me an error wich
- told me to 'select the state in the pull down box'. I did that about fifty
times before giving up and writing sales. As for the game though, same
principle but killer sounds! Nothing so satisfying as swiss cheesing Mr.
Helicopter!

Garr! Beat the game once! I almost always make it to the final battle and
that's where I get trounced. I'm not quite sure how I did it a couple days
ago. Fair warning, Supreme Commander Ather is tough! Doable, certainly,
 but
 tough.

 Hi,

yeah, there is a download link for the patch just below the set up file
 for
the game. i found it yesterday when looking around.
If you have problems finding it, that's where it is.

I didn't know they had a patch? I saw Liam's message about the final
corrected version and then used a link in an earlier message he sent to
 get
the game, I think. I can't remember for sure.
