The error states the problem is with the *committer* name. You are the
*author*, so the error has nothing to do with your configuration is
entirely on the Damned lies side. Please file an issue at

Error while trying to commit the chronojump translation via DL

2022-05-04 Thread Yuri Chornoivan via gnome-i18n
Hi,

I'm getting the following error message while trying to commit the chronojump
translation via DL:

[Errno 128] Command: "['git', 'commit', '-m', 'Update Ukrainian translation',
'--author', 'Yuri Chornoivan ']", Error: Committer identity unknown *** Please
tell me who you are. Run git config --global user.email "y...@example.com" git
config --global user.name "Your Name" to set your account's default identity.
Omit --global to set the identity only in this repository. fatal: unable to
auto-detect email address (got 'l10n@damned-lies-4-wjqfp.(none)')

The email address is established in my profile and it worked well so far.

Is there any way to bypass this?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Best regards,
Yuri

Well, that is the problem.
As I see it (just checked it also, and recommit it), all the files are
affected. The problem is there is nothing wrong, as it seems, and I have
nothing to add.

Re: DL Error : File not UTF8

2021-09-15 Thread Philipp Kiemle via gnome-i18n
Hello Rafael, Matej and all others,
Unfortunately, a re-upload of the translation didn't do the trick. The file
is indeed UTF-8 encoded, so this doesn't seem to be the problem here.
I opened an issue in the DL issue tracker here [1]. Matej, I think it would
be beneficial if you could add any additional info you have (e.g. what
module(s) is/are affected at your end). Thanks!
Cheers,
Philipp

Re: DL Error : File not UTF8

2021-09-14 Thread Rafael Fontenelle
Hello Matej and Phillip,

The culprit for this issue should have been fixed already. Personally,
I don't see this issue anymore in my translation actions.

I suggest that you try re-uploading the PO file that is presenting
this encoding error in order to work around the encoding issue already
fixed.

If the problem persists, I suggest the following:
- run `file ` locally, to make sure the file is UTF-8
- file an issue in Damned Lies issue tracker with more information
(e.g. link to page in damned lies with the issue)

Good luck!

Best regards,
Rafael Fontenelle

Hello all,
I get this error too - so far only when trying to upload a translation for
an older release and I checked the "Cherry-pick to the main/master branch
if possible" checkbox.
So far, despite the 504 error, the translation did perfectly land in the
git repos every time, I assume it is only the "frontend" (website) that
does not receive an answer in time and then throws an error. Am I talking
nonsense here, or is this plausible?
Enrico, I'd suggest you take a look at the GitLab repo of the application
(in this case [1]) and check it after a couple of minutes. The translation
should land there despite the webpage error in my experience. However, I am
just a translator and have no knowledge of the inner workings of DL...

Re: DL Error : File not UTF8

2021-07-24 Thread Rafael Fontenelle
Hi Matej,

Yes, it is related. If the system has no locale set (which usually is
UTF-8) then the default ASCII is used (depending on the distro,
obviously). When this ASCII-encoded system finds an UTF-8 special
character, like "é", "č" etc., these chars are not interpreted
correctly. I believe the error message you quoted is from
UnicodeDecodeError: search "UnicodeDecodeError" in
https://docs.python.org/3/howto/unicode.html#the-string-type

Note: even if English interface is desired, the "en_US.UTF-8" locale
should be set.

Best regards,
Rafael Fontenelle

DL Error : File not UTF8

2021-07-19 Thread Matej Urban via gnome-i18n
Hello,
Lately I'm getting strange errors, that I can not make sense of. Looking at
the e.g. Sloveninan translation of evolution package in DL
https://l10n.gnome.org/vertimus/evolution/gnome-40/po/sl/ it shows an error
that it is not in UTF8.
But it is!

Is there a way to find out, if there is maybe a character there, that's
causing the problems?

Re: Build error

2021-05-20 Thread Daniel Mustieles García via gnome-i18n
Look at this string:

msgid "Purge trash temporary files"
msgstr "Prullenbak legen & tijdelijke bestanden definitief verwijderen"

It might be the & what it's breaking the build.

I don't know what gtml is but it doesn't seem to the same as gtxml... to
make gtxml work you have to download PyG3t (see previous email to get the
link). It very easy to compile and install it, but if you get stuck I could
help you with it.

Hope this helps.

Sorry guys, but the errors are not yet fixed. I fixed the 3 tag errors

I also tried Daniel's gtxml -c command, but it does not work

Can you try again? It seems it was changed to only allow pushing from

Can you try again? It seems it was changed to only allow pushing from
maintainers, but the original intention was to only restrict merging
merge requests, as we've moved to using marge-bot. I've now changed the
setting to limit merging to maintainers, but pushing to maintainers and
developers as was the case before.

Hi, the GNOME sysadmins noticed that they had some git hooks broken
for submodules in a recent update in the infrastructure.

They believe the issues we were facing should be resolved now. Please,
let us know if you still experience the issues.

And thanks again for letting us know about it.

No, it's not your fault.
I tried deleting and recreating the branch in the DL checkout, but still

Error when trying to push the Boxes help file

2020-06-14 Thread Yuri Chornoivan via gnome-i18n
Hi,

I'm trying to push a new uk translation into the Boxes repo:

https://l10n.gnome.org/vertimus/gnome-boxes/gnome-3-36/help/uk/

but Vertimus throws back an error message:

[Errno 1] Command: "if [ -e .gitmodules ]; then git submodule update --init;
fi", Error: error: RPC failed; result=22, HTTP code = 404 fatal: The remote
end hung up unexpectedly Unable to fetch in submodule path 'subprojects/gtk-
frdp'

Am I doing something wrong (the file itself seems to be XML-valid)?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Best regards,
Yuri

We can watch it and add new languages to Makefile if they are added into
DL, there is no problem with it.

About DL, yes, it would be great if it would allow doing things like you
did, but it doesn't. The best option would be adding new languages
automagically to Makefile, but it was difficult to implement properly

Hi Daniel,

I notice the warning, but I'm afraid that D-L might allow adding new
translation to Release Notes by adding it to the LINGUAS file, and
right now Release Notes does not read the LINGUAS file. Don't you
think this can be a problem like translation being added but not
effectively enabled?

Re: Build error

2020-03-10 Thread Daniel Mustieles García via gnome-i18n
Hi Rafael,

I've done it because DL was not able to read languages variable from the
Makefile, showing warnings in every language shown in DL for release-notes
module.

I know adding languages manually to Makefile is not the best option, but
that's the way it's done in other modules and avoids DL showing warnings.

Maybe I should have noticed you before applying it, sorry. Hope you
understand why I made that change.

Thanks for the MR Rafael. I just merged it. Don't worry about opening
an MR against master right now. master is very outdated. The current
branching process is to branch off the previous gnome-3-xx version (so
for example, I branched off gnome-3-34 to create gnome-3-36). I plan on
cleaning up master after 3.36 is done so that we properly branch off
master for each release, like other modules do.

I already provided a patch that enables LINGUAS support for Release
Notes during discussion of Meson port [1], although it was more like a
workaround. Applying this or any other solution would awesome indeed.

Yes, that's the reason. D-L is not able to add a new translation when
the language list is inside a file other than LINGUAS.

Link, would you be able to make the release-notes make process use an
external LINGUAS file for the language list? Would be awesome!

Normally, after "Ready for submission" (Klaar voor committen) you
should see an "Submit to repository" (Naar repository inzenden)
action.

In this particular case, my bet is that you need first to enable your
language in
https://gitlab.gnome.org/Teams/Engagement/release-notes/-/blob/gnome-3-36/help/Makefile.am
-- I suggest that you create a merge request adding Netherland

1. "Ready for submission" (Klaar voor committen) I chose the file on my
PC (button Browse)

2. "Reserve to submit" (Reserveren voor inzenden).
??? Here I should get "Submit to repository", but instead I get "Inform

What I do NOT get is "Submit to repository". I have committed another
translation (gnome-control-center) where I do get this step, and here
all goes well.

Hello Andre,

I forgot to CC my answer to Rafael to this list. Why do I see this
button "Help compiling" (Hulp bij compileren) next to the name of the
uploaded file and why does it change to Hulpindex after I have clicked
that button?

In a previous attempt where I clicked that Help button I remember having
seen the message "Build error" and in that file the Dutch text after the
link to gnome.asia was grey instead of black. That is why I translated
the whole string again. For the rest, see my explanation to Rafael.

@ Rafael: I forgot to send you the link to 403 Forbidden when I try to

The last action on
https://l10n.gnome.org/vertimus/release-notes/gnome-3-36/help/nl/level1/
is "Archive the actions".
I assume that removes the translation proposals, hence the 403 error.

Hi all,

I've seem a few occurrences of this protected-branch error in these
days. This normally happens when the branch is protected so only
"Maintainer" role can commit and the "translations" user has
"Developer" role.

The best solution is to the project's "Owner" or "Maintainer" set the
"translations" user with "Maintainer" role.

Sorry, this should now be fixed.

We have moved the repositories to a different server, and I was
surprised to see git storing absolute paths in some metadata about
submodules.
I will fix this module by module when an error arises.

This is a preparation to some infrastructure change (moving to
OpenShift). We'll try to make it with the less disturbance as possible
for translators.

DL - Error in diff view

2019-09-11 Thread Daniel Mustieles García via gnome-i18n
Hi Claude,

When I try to see diff view between original and uploaded PO file, I got a
"Page not found" error in DL. This is the link I'm trying to access:
https://l10n.gnome.org/vertimus/diff/494216/0/0/

And this is the page of the module I'm trying to proofread:
https://l10n.gnome.org/vertimus/gnome-user-docs/master/gnome-help/es/

Could you please review it?

Thanks in advance!

Where is it in Gitlab? The commits I see in
https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-video-effects/commits/master are older
than 3 days

Not sure about what this change implies... are more modules migrating to
intltool and it will break stats? Sorry if the question has already been
answered, but at this moment I don't remember it.

The commit which transitions from intltool to meson was applied just 3
days ago.

The problem is that xgettext autodetection of the file format doesn't
succeed (.effect is unknown to gettext).
We can workaround this by forcing --language=Desktop in XGETTEXT_OPTIONS
of Makevars. But I fear we'll have issues as soon as a different file
format is added to POTFILES.in.

Error generating POT: gnome-video-effects

2019-08-02 Thread Daniel Mustieles García via gnome-i18n
Hi all,

There is an error in gnome-video-effects, DL can't generate POT file:

https://l10n.gnome.org/vertimus/gnome-video-effects/master/po/es/

This happens for several languages, not only for Spanish

It seems that the last commit in the project was some weeks ago, so maybe
the issue is in the DL side.

@Claude: could you please take a look into it?

Hello Ondrej,

Did you prevent pushes on purpose? This will break the translators

Hi,

I am sorry, I did not realize that. I've just allowed pushing in
protected branches for everybody with developer permissions. I suppose
that this should be enough because other projects also using protected

If this is the first commit of this file, somebody with git access needs
to do it. This is true for all documentation files. Once the file exists
in git, you can submit to repository yourself, but not before.

Thanks for pointing this out. It seems related to the fact that
system-admin-guide/ is a bit of a non-standard location for storing help
files. We've added system-admin-guide/ to DL recently so it might be that
you are the first hitting the issue.

I guess this file might be the one that needs a fix?

https://git.gnome.org/browse/sysadmin-bin/tree/git/pre-receive-check-policy

Not sure.

Error commiting translation into user-docs [system admin guide]

2017-07-28 Thread Daniel Mustieles García
H all,

I'me getting the following error when trying to commit a System Admin Guide
translation update using DL:

«[Errno 1] b"remote: translations user cannot modify
'system-admin-guide/es/es.po' \nTo ssh://git.gnome.org/git/gnome-user-docs\n
! [remote rejected] master -> master (pre-receive hook declined)\nerror:
failed to push some refs to 'ssh://git.gnome.org/git/gnome-user-docs'\n"»

Not sure if this issue can be fixed from DL's admin panel or if it's
something Infrastructure Team should fix instead.

Thanks for your help!

Some GNOME Git hero should be able to update the "hooks.po-directories"
variable on the server for this repo. Probably a sysadmin task again?
