To access the beta please follow the steamcmd instructions on our developer wiki, https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/SteamCMD, Counter-Strike 1.6 dedicated server is currently available as appid 90 (and will continue to use this appid after full release). The changes in this version are numerous (and some fixes are still in progress, I am looking at you redirect servers). Re: [hlds_linux] Half-Life 1 Dedicated server update released
Hi Alfred, Thanks for the release. I would like to hear your thoughts (I'm sure you are already aware) about these others issues : - Is it possible to fix/find a workaround related to sv_downloadurl, where if you disconnect while you were downloading from the url, once you reconnect, you download from game server. You have to restart steam to download again from the url. Quite annoying. - Could you increase the max item limit to 1024 ? ( model, sound, and generic ). It's probably just some define to change and nowadays it won't hurt. Also 1024 is fairly reasonable and I don't see what reasons you could refuse to update a bit. Sorry If already asked, I don't remember seeing an answer. Thanks for your time, Alfred. 2011/9/27 Alfred Reynolds alf...@valvesoftware.com See my comments from earlier in the day, its available as beta now but has some more pending work. The update is optional but contains exploit fixes so it is highly recommended. This release is setting public the beta we have been running recently, the changes that have accrued since the last public release are: - Added sv_logsecret support - Added sv_filetransfermaxsize to limit the size of a file the game server will try to send to a client - Added halflife.wad and xeon.wad to the not allowed to download to a client list - Increased max heapsize of 128mbyte for the dedicated server, default to 40mb still - Added sv_allow_dlfile, if set to 1 and sv_downloadurl is set still allow local downloads - changed motd_write to only work if the process is running an active server and the command is from the console - prevented several client redirection exploits when connecting to a server - Changed Non-sprite set to glow!\n debug console output to be dev only - Implemented new crash reporting system, now with Linux support. ___

Re: [hlds_linux] Source and HL1 dedicated server Beta available
I found the problem. I use script to launch server easily. And next another script which use renice command to define a new priority on hlds processus. ( -20 ) And so I can see the same issue CPU usage spikes. Very strange. Before this update there are no problems with renice command. I've tried different values and it's the same way. Finally i've desactived this script and now the server seems to work great. -_- Sorry for waste your time. Vincent. H. Finally, a lot of SZ_GetSpace: overflow error. Since I've updated server to v.29. I think. I'm remember that There was an update where this error appears often and crashes the server. The following version was to solve this problem. It's right to say that this v.29 update is more stable than the others. Now i've always this error but there are no crashs. Just a player disconnection with as error Reliable channel overflow Before with the same plugins, i've never been this error. Also a lot a player say me that there are strange bugs before to have disconnection ( not all the time ) as : - sight disappears - can't buy ( inactive menu ) - can't choose team on connect - a large rise of loss / choke - disconnection without notification - others bugs I must restart server and players have no problems after. And that was from a server running no mods what so ever. I also noticed a decline in the choke problems I noticed before. I think the choke spikes actually was ping spikes. They occur almost the same way as the choke spikes did.Never the less I still see choke. but not going from 0 to 40. Its more normal and only occationally goes up to 5 and rarely to 10. Hopefully the migration to a new switch will make the ping spikes disapear. /Bjorn On Tue, 22 Nov 2005, William Warren wrote: Hi, Same choke problems with some players and I also noticed instability about fps servers after this update.
