 good CS 1.6 server changes so you should update.

   Fixes include:
   - Fixed rotating objects stopping after some period in a map
   - Fixed potential upload exploit that let a client put a new file on
 your server (they could not touch/replace existing files)
   - Fixed respawn bug in CS 1.6 if you died from drowning

   We have begun testing of Half-Life and Counter-Strike 1.6 on OSX and
 Linux. In support of this we have updated the dedicated server and
 converted it to using the new Steampipe system. You can access the new
 version via Steampipe right now, it remains network compatible with older
 clients.

   To access the beta please follow the steamcmd instructions on our
 developer wiki, https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/SteamCMD,
 Counter-Strike 1.6 dedicated server is currently available as appid 90 (and
 will continue to use this appid after full release).

   The changes in this version are numerous (and some fixes are still in
 progress, I am looking at you redirect servers). Under Linux we have
 moved forward to GCC 4.6 (from 2.95, heh) and are using a newer OS
 toolchain, so please do test these binaries on your machine.

Re: [hlds_linux] Half-Life 1 Dedicated server update released

2011-09-27 Thread Vincent H.
Hi Alfred,

Thanks for the release.
I would like to hear your thoughts (I'm sure you are already aware) about
these others issues :

- Is it possible to fix/find a workaround related to sv_downloadurl, where
if you disconnect while you were downloading from the url, once you
reconnect, you download from game server. You have to restart steam to
download again from the url. Quite annoying.
- Could you increase the max item limit to 1024 ? ( model, sound, and
generic ). It's probably just some define to change and nowadays it won't
hurt. Also 1024 is fairly reasonable and I don't see what reasons you could
refuse to update a bit. Sorry If already asked, I don't remember seeing an
answer.

Thanks for your time, Alfred.

Bailopan,

Finally It seems that csdm module which crashes the server. (v 2.1 beta4
I think )

I've tested all plugins and modules.

So, after updated server with Csdm v2.1 stable, server seems working
fine with VAC and Amxx 1.76b.

For the moment, there are no crashs. -_-

Thanks for all. ;)

ps : Alfred, sorry for waste your time.

Out of curiosity, could you paste the output of amxx modules and amxx

Badly Valve can not provide a rollback-update. Recently my

Many thanks to Valve and his last update.
A good idea, what Valve should doing? Make a rollback via

Confirming what issue?

Don't renice the process. There's no need unless you're running extra
stuff
as well, in which case simple nice positively the other app which is
running.

I.e on that article, there's no problem as such reported. If
someone is
going to try and run 2x16 slot 100tick servers, they are going to be
hitting
90% cpu I would guess whatever really. What may help unless its dual
core,
is to enable ht, and using taskset force them both on the same cpu,
so ht
can help with any extra housekeeping or other smaller apps. Might
make it
worse though, but its an easy option to try for some that are trying
to do
that.

Don't see the need to renice processes though. You have to think
about all
the things you are making yourself a higher priority over, and often
some
of
them aren't good to prioritise over (purely imo).

 Yes were seeing the same thing, anything above a -1 renice causes the
 cpu to spike upto 99% with no players present.

Why is there a need to renice the process???

The best thing would be to give the process real time priority!!! *doh*

Re: [hlds_linux] Source and HL1 dedicated server Beta available

2006-02-11 Thread Vincent H.

I found the problem.

I use script to launch server easily. And next another script which use
renice command to define a new priority on hlds processus. ( -20 )
And so I can see the same issue CPU usage spikes.

Very strange. Before this update there are no problems with renice
command. I've tried different values and it's the same way.
Finally i've desactived this script and now the server seems to work great.

-_- Sorry for waste your time.

[hlds_linux] SZ_Getspace Overflow error steamID mixed

2005-12-25 Thread Vincent H.

Hi,

First, we have a CS 1.6 server. Some informations :

---

[*] Processor : AMD Sempron(tm) 2500+
[*] Ram : 512 Mo
[*] Disk : 80 Go
[*] Distribution : GNU\Linux Debian testing/unstable
[*] Kernel : Linux 2.6.8-2-386
[*] Glibc : Release stable, Version 2.3.5
[*] Connection : 10 Mbits
[*] Hlds version : v.29
[*] Version : 47/1.1.2.5/Stdio 3327 secure
[*] Amx : 2005.1
[*] Metamod : 1.18p26
---

1- A lot of players on my server have this errors like :

[-] SZ_GetSpace: overflow on netchan-message the most often ;
[-] SZ_Getspace Overflow on netchan also ;
[-] SZ_GetSpace: overflow on Client Datagram sometimes ;
[-] SZ_GetSpace: overflow on -player pseudo-.

Finally, a lot of SZ_GetSpace: overflow error.

Since I've updated server to v.29. I think.
I'm remember that There was an update where this error appears often and
crashes the server.
The following version was to solve this problem. It's right to say that
this v.29 update is more stable than the others.
Now i've always this error but there are no crashs. Just a player
disconnection with as error Reliable channel overflow
Before with the same plugins, i've never been this error.

Also a lot a player say me that there are strange bugs before to have
disconnection ( not all the time ) as :
- sight disappears
- can't buy ( inactive menu )
- can't choose team on connect
- a large rise of loss / choke
- disconnection without notification
- others bugs

I must restart server and players have no problems after.

For example :

You are right again !
In fact, i've recently created this server and server crashes randomly
very often ( 27 times in 7 hours ! ) .
So i have updated debian (sarge) with some testing/unstable packets (
and also glibc 2.3.2 to 2.3.5 ) .
And that's the way ! Server don't crash often as before. (just on time
or two per day ) .Next, with this update, server dramaticaly crashes
very often.

I've used gdb :

#!/bin/bash
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=.:bin:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH
gdb --args ./hlds_amd -game cstrike -debug -insecure -norestart
+maxplayers 18 +map de_duztec2 +ip 193.24.215.36 +port 27015 +developer 1

Re: AW: [hlds_linux] Half-Life 1 Engine update

I run it on a couple of my servers now. And I must say it runs better than
the previous version on FreeBSD 6.0 w linux_base-rh9. (glibc 2.3.2)

So far I have only got that crash. And that was from a server running no
mods what so ever.

I also noticed a decline in the choke problems I noticed before. I think
the choke spikes actually was ping spikes. They occur almost the same way
as the choke spikes did.Never the less I still see choke. but not going
from 0 to 40. Its more normal and only occationally goes up to 5 and
rarely to 10. Hopefully the migration to a new switch will make the ping
spikes disapear.

Hi,

Same choke problems with some players and I also noticed instability
about fps servers after this update.

We run a Couter-strike 1.6 decicated linux Server, some Details:

[*] Amd Sempron 2500+ ;
[*] 512 ram ;
[*] OS: Debian Sarge ;
[*] Kernel : Linux 2.6.8-2-386
[*] Glibc : Release stable, Version 2.3.5
[*] 18 slot Slots ;

Also:
[*] Metamod 1.18p26 ;
[*] HLGuards 1.18  SteamBan activated

Once patch applied, the server crashes randomly very often with the
following error :

CRASH: mer nov 23 01:40:49 CET 2005

So, I hope to see new update because of this crashes are really boring
:-( :-( .

Thanks.
