[info-tech] Quick Survey - Student Accounts
I would sure appreciate any responses to the following questions regarding student passwords when you get a chance 1. What is your procedure when a student forgets their logon password? Who handles this request? 2. Do you maintain a list of student passwords, and if so, who do you share that list with? 3. How often do you change student passwords? I am just curious what other districts are doing regarding this problem. It's not a big deal at this point in the game, but it seems to be an issue during the first few weeks of school and of course that is when we are bombarded by a million other things.. Re: [info-tech] Quick Survey - Student Accounts
1. What is your procedure when a student forgets their logon password? Who handles this request? When A student forgets a password either I or my assistant reset it to a default password and require that the password be changed on first log in 2. Do you maintain a list of student passwords, and if so, who do you share that list with? We do not maintain a list of student passwords. I do for teachers and associates, but not students 3. How often do you change student passwords? We reset student passwords to the default every new school year. They are then required upon first log in to change to a password of their choice. I am just curious what other districts are doing regarding this problem. RE: [info-tech] Quick Survey - Student Accounts
Here you go!!! Jeremy 1. What is your procedure when a student forgets their logon password? Who handles this request? - Teacher Librarians and the building secretaries have access to an excel spreadsheet with that data in it. 2. Do you maintain a list of student passwords, and if so, who do you share that list with? - See #1. 3. How often do you change student passwords? - We don't, unless we have specific issues. I keep a list (spreadsheet) of all user credentials. I keep a hard copy filed in the office. If someone forgets their password, they come to me, and I can print them off a copy of the login sheet they were given at the beginning of the year. I will generally change their password at this point, just in case. We change all staff and student passwords at the beginning of the school year (and any time we're concerned that it may have become compromised). --- Timothy A.
