[Inkscape-translator] inkscape.pot missing vital entries
Hello, When I run 'make inkscape_pot' for current git master, I get this: [100%] Generating ../../po/inkscape.pot Unsuccessful open on filename containing newline at /usr/bin/intltool-update line 1150. And then the following top menu items are missing from POT (become obsolete): _View, _Layer, _Object, _Path, _Filters, _Extensions, _Help. Both _File, _Edit, and _Text are OK. I'd gladly push updated ru.po, but without these essential bits it's not worth it really. Any ideas what could be causing this? Victor, Gettext tools already do that whenever you run intlttool-update 'LANG'. They look for similar messages in English, insert their translations, and then mark such entries as fuzzy. However in my experience (15 years, for what it's worth) there's little help in all that. You do get occasional help from TM, but mostly you have to heavily edit the outcome. Not worth the bother. I've been using Rosetta for 1-1,5 year(s), mostly for projects whose lead developers want translations to be done via Rosetta (like PDF Split And Merge). Last year there was a huge issue with Scribus translations being imported to Rosetta silently and people getting involved into translation without letting original translators know. As for Russian community of Rosetta translators, we have managed to convince them to cooperate with two most significant existing translators teams - KDE Russian and GNOME Cyrillic (I'm member of both) - and I haven't heard about issues since then (there were some more before). I don't know how other Ubuntu language teams handle this situation. For Rosetta there is an internal rule -- importing a translation to Rosetta can be done from permission of developers/translators only. If you are interested in usability side of Rosetta, it's quite okay, though I don't remember how it handles plural forms. What is not quite okay with Rosetta is that it allows translation without actually looking at GUI, which is very, *very* bad, especially when some translators are known to translate GUI this way and be happy with it. Generally speaking, Rosetta more or less solves a long standing issue with consistent translation of GUI, showing variants of translation in its web interface, but allows clueless (sorry, if that sounds harsh) people contribute -- and this is unavoidable so far. Re: [Inkscape-translator] Scheduling of 0.45 final?
On 1/29/07, Bryce Harrington wrote: Hi all (especially translators), It appears we're very near the time to do the final release of 0.45, so it would be good for us to schedule when to tag the final official 0.45.0. If I understand, there are no further code bug fixes planned for this release, but there is still some work related to translations. Is there anything else we are waiting on besides this? E.g., documentation or packaging fixes? tutorial-tips.xml still says we have no blur. I can fix this, but then we need all translators to update their files appropriately. Also, there is no sign of original translations of tutorials into Russian, from which SVG files were created. Joshua hasn't answered my email yet. As for ru.po, translation will be finalized by the end of this week (not much left to do, really). Alexandre - Take Surveys. Earn Cash. Re: [Inkscape-translator] How testing inkscape?
Hi, This mailing list is rather for translators, not testers. Testers usually subscribe to [EMAIL PROTECTED] ;-) To start testing unstable build of Inkscape, grab copy of SVN development tree and update it periodically. Please refer to http://inkscape.org/svn.php for further details. If/when you identify some misbehaviour of Inkscape/SVN as a bug (not an unfinished feature that is known to have linitations), please report it using SourceForge's bugtracker: http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?group_id=93438atid=604306 Please register at SourceForge, so that you could receive notifications and follow-ups on reported bugs via email. Re: [Inkscape-translator] Inkboard terminology and translation
On 7/5/06, Luca Bruno wrote: What a strange idea. Inkboard is the name of the program. How can you traslate such a particula name between English and French? And then following your idea about Inkboard, you will have also to translate the name Inkscape. This sound crazily insane to me ;) BTW, I left it as is in Italian ;) Works for languages with Latin based alphabet only :-) Alexandre Using Tomcat but need to do more?
