[JAWS-Users] page change announcements in Word not being read

2012-01-02 Thread Mike Barbara
This question was asked on David's Blind-Computing list. Can anyone help
Susan out?!

Hi everyone,
In attempting to tweak settings in Word 2007, I'm finding that JAWS no
longer reads the change of page when in navigation or say all mode. I
thought at first that this was a JAWS issue but now think there is a
weird Word setting. Any advice on fixing this problem much
appreciated. Most of what I found in microsoft help had to do with
headers and footers or table of contents, not quite what I'm trying to
do. Also, using the classic XP margins as a default with single line
spacing, in Word 2003 page length equalled 46 lines but I'm not seeing
those results in 2007. Any thoughts?

Susan

even if you can't rollback your driver, you will still need to install the

[JAWS-Users] display adapters

2012-01-02 Thread jim
Hi list:

Here is a problem that I have noticed in Jaws 13.

When going to the device manager and looking under display adapters, the F S
mirror driver was installed four times on my computer.

After calling tech. support and explaining my problem of findings the 4 mirror
drivers installed on my computer. I began uninstalling them from the first one
listed down to the bottom. I restarted my computer each time in-between
removing the extra, 3 mirror drivers, tech. support told me that there should
only be one F S mirror driver listed as being installed on my computer.

I thought that it was funny after bringing this up to him because after he
looked on his computer, he found out that he had 11 F S mirror drivers listed
on his computer.

He said that they would be researching the problem of why the mirror driver was
being installed more than one time in Jaws 13.

Has anyone else noticed this problem on your windows 7 computer running Jaws 13?

My computer is running smooth now.

Jim

[JAWS-Users] sounds in device manager

2012-01-02 Thread jim
Hi list:

In device manager I went under sounds and removed a sound driver which I had
installed when I upgraded my computer to windows 7.

The reason I did this was to allow my new Bose usb speakers to work smoothly
with my computer.

What was happening was on start up my computer was ignoring the Bose usb
speakers even though I had them set as the default speakers.

Things are working fine now.

My question is: after removing the sound driver and going back to the original
driver installed on my computer. I was taken to the authorization page for
Jaws. I had to put my authorization disk into the computer and authorize it
again or I would have ran in demo mode.

Why did my computer behave this way? What I did had nothing to do with Jaws.

I am just trying to gain a greater understanding of how Jaws works with my
computer.

Everything is working smoothly now and I am very happy with jaws 13 and I am
thankful for F S and all the hard work that they do for us.

Happy New years and god bless…Jim

I also have three versions of JAWS on the PC, as I always keep the

Is that why the three drivers?
Does it matter?

[JAWS-Users] Twitter's new webpage design, please help

2012-01-02 Thread Melissa
Good morning friends. It has been awhile since I've bothered to play around
with Twitter, primarily resulting from a lack of free time. One thing I've
noticed since they've changed their webpage layout, is the lack of
accessibility to accomplish certain tasks that used to be simple. For
example, I would like to accept or decline a request to follow, but those
buttons are now completely useless.
I have tried getting around this issue via Twitter for IPhone, but to no
avail, as that app doesn't even have a way to view and accept or decline
requests.
Does anyone have any suggestions for navigating this issue? I'd be very
greatful.

I ran into similar issues earlier and ultimately gave up on the web page

honestly has made me engage with the social medium in ways I never did

development. It's working beautifully for me, and I intend to stick with it

press the down arrow key one time to hear your graphics card, press the down

My computer now correctly shows two items, my graphics card and the f S mirror

Re: [JAWS-Users] display adapters

2012-01-02 Thread tim
Well it won't take much on how. You get one every time you install
jaws. They need to look at why they don't over right or delete on install.

At 10:37 AM 1/2/2012, you wrote:

Hi list:

Here is a problem that I have noticed in Jaws 13.

When going to the device manager and looking under display adapters,
the F S mirror driver was installed four times on my computer.

After calling tech. support and explaining my problem of findings
the 4 mirror drivers installed on my computer. I began uninstalling
them from the first one listed down to the bottom. I restarted my
computer each time in-between removing the extra, 3 mirror drivers,
tech. support told me that there should only be one F S mirror
driver listed as being installed on my computer.

I thought that it was funny after bringing this up to him because
after he looked on his computer, he found out that he had 11 F S
mirror drivers listed on his computer.

He said that they would be researching the problem of why the mirror
driver was being installed more than one time in Jaws 13.

Has anyone else noticed this problem on your windows 7 computer
running Jaws 13?

My computer is running smooth now.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Help with 'find' feature in a MS Word document

2012-01-02 Thread Flor Lynch

There isn't really a solution other than that, since in Microsoft Word
the find dialogue and the page control are (and have been for ages) two
parts of the same dialogue. Control G, and enter, or escape. that will
release the page-up/page-down functionality from the find Replace. Now
just seen Ann's clear the find field solution, and that makes sense.

Thanks. This ctrl G is not a solution to my problem. I mostly do not
jump to specific pages instead use ctrl pg up.down and the like to
navigate and read documents.

Hi Listers and happy new year.

In an open word doc hitting ctrl f, then entering the search text and
then hitting alt f takes me straight to that location in the word
document where the text is.
However once I do the above each time I hit pg down or up or ctrl pg
down or up it just doesn't move the document on the screen up or down
as usual and instead keeps on jumping each time to the next location
of that text in the doc. I don't want this. Once I have found the
location I desire I want the ctrl pg up and down to act as usual.

Is there a key stroke to snap the document out of this find mode?

Thanks much
Prateek p

Hi Jim,

No wonder I wasn't finding any mirror drivers! I am on my XP computer
y'all are talking about Widows7! LOL LOL

Would you happen to know where the mirror drivers are on a XP system?
Thanks much, take care.
Mike

 Hi Mike:
Press the windows key and type device manager in the edit field, and
press

enter.
Tab over to the tree view, press the letter D, until you hear display
adapters closed.
Press the right arrow key to open this list.
press the down arrow key one time to hear your graphics card, press the
down arrow again to hear the F S mirror driver.
When you first open this section with the right arrow, listen to see how
many items are under display adapters.
My computer now correctly shows two items, my graphics card and the f S
mirror driver.
 I hope this helps...
 Jim
