Type Title.. without the quotes in the name field. It is important to type the 2 dots after Title. As the first dot defines the row and the second dot defines the column used. 4. Once you're finished checking the ten showing messages, enter on the older messages link, and you'll get ten more, and so on until you see all your messages. I know, it's a pain in the butt, but there's really no one we can blame for thise, save for Yahoo themselves, but I don't even think they can be blamed, since they're giving the majority of people what they asked for. Re: [JAWS-Users] Making content fit in Excel cells
Did you try having the text wrap in the cell? Thanks, Kurt -Original Message- From: jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of CrisMunoz54 Sent: Monday, May 30, 2011 11:52 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: [JAWS-Users] Making content fit in Excel cells Hello list, I'm trying to work with some Excel spread sheets such as for merchandise quotes, purchase order and invoices where certain text like item description, delivery address etc can be 1, 2, or x lines. Because of this, I'm having trouble getting the text to properly fit in the cells as I then have to convert it to a PDF file and the whole template will get thrown off. Does anyone know or can they direct me where one can manually do this and more importantly, figure out how to adjust the cell/row/column size accordingly and have Jaws give me the necessary feedback so I know that it looks right? I've tried the autofit option in the menus, but the feedback from my sighted wife is that it just makes the cell text even smaller and makes it harder to read if not impossible. Not all text is equal so it's not like I can use a set peramitor. I've checked the Jaws Excel help settings and it's more to do with with reading titles and cell coordinates. That's fine, but not exactly what I'm looking for. I'm using JFW 11. I do have the latest JFW 12 from this past May, but as others have discussed on this and more lists, my experiences with Jaws 12 were too problematic to continue using it. My Excel is the 2003 edition. Any help or pointers would be appreciated. Hi All. I have an interesting question. I've tried the file manager listed on the programs page but it didn't quite do what i wanted it to do. what i'm looking for is a simple way of marking multiple files in a list individually then moving them to a folder. lets say i have 100 files and i want to mark 25 files individually and they're not in order. i can't use standard keyboard shortcuts such as shift down/up arrow as that would select the files going down/upwards in the list. so my question is simply is there an easy way of marking a number of specific files in a list? an example of this would be if in an ideal world each file was a check box and i'd just tick the ones i wanted to copy by pressing space then copy them all at the end. I hope that all makes sense and hope that someone can offer a program/sollution. Many thanks, Mo. The Alt d has always worked for me and it worked here just now with JAWS 11 and IE 8. You are correct that keyboard help does not tell you anything about the key stroke. Firstly, if I turn on keyboard help, neither f6 nor alt-d claim to do anything. Secondly, when in internet explorer if I go to a page, then hit alt-d or f6, it says, address edit. I do not see a URL at that point. If I then hit control-c it says nothing is selected. If I go to notepad and hit control-v, nothing is copied. Below, I have included the list of changes we have made and we are continuing work now as we work towards another update in early October. Thanks to all of you who have provided feedback and we look forward to hearing move in the coming weeks. Regards, Eric Damery Freedom Scientific New Features added in second Public Beta, JAWS 12.0.451 The following features have been added to the latest JAWS 12 public beta release. Reading HTML Tables The default setting for reading HTML table titles has changed so that JAWS now conforms to industry defined HTML standards by only reading table headers that are properly marked up. You can see this when using the CTRL+ALT+ARROW Keys to move through an HTML table. While the default setting is now set to Only Marked Headers, you can continue to use earlier functionality for reading HTML tables if you are more comfortable with those settings. To change settings, press INSERT+V to open JAWS options, and then press T to move to the Table Titles Announce option. Next, press SPACEBAR to cycle through and select a new setting, and then ENTER to save the change. Remember that you can always use Personalized Settings (INSERT+SHIFT+V) to customize how JAWS reads table column and row headers on any given Web site, without modifying how JAWS reads table headers on other Web sites. For more information about reading HTML tables, visit the Tables section of Freedom Scientific's Surf's Up http://www.freedomscientific.com/../Training/Surfs-Up/Tables.htm . NCAA Football Lookup Source in Research It NCAA Football is a new addition to Research It. Use it to search for the schedules or results of your favorite college football teams. Because of the number of college teams, there are several ways to get search results. One way is to open Research It (INSERT+SPACEBAR, R), type a date using the mm/dd/ date format, and then select NCAA Football. This shows a full list of games scheduled or played during that week. Another is to leave the search field blank and see schedules or results for the current week. The last way is to search for your favorite college teams by typing team names separated by a semicolon. This shows the current week's schedules or results for those schools. For example, type Florida; Texas; California to view results for teams with Florida, Texas, or California in their names. Search results display in the Virtual Viewer as a link so that you can open a Web browser and read a recap of past games or a preview of future games. Press CTRL+DOWN ARROW to move between the dates displayed for the week. Update to NBA Scores and NHL Scores The NBA Scores and NHL Scores lookup sources in Research It have been expanded and now provide links to box scores and game summaries. Each game listed in the Virtual Viewer is now a link. Select any link to launch your Web browser and read a recap and statistics of past games, or a preview of future games. Improvements with Adobe Flash JAWS can now announce buttons and other items that did not work correctly on some Flash Web sites. Examples of Web sites that now function properly are Audible.com and Dominos.ca. Enhancements in JAWS 12.0.451 (September 2010) The following is a list of improvements made between this release and the initial public beta release. JAWS * Resolved a customer reported issue where it was possible to pan out of the virtual buffer while reading with braille in the JAWS help file. * Resolved an issue in the PlaceMarkers dialog

It is a cartoon strip, a graphic which an artist friend of mine has described for blind folks. He has to work within the parameters of the hosting company right now. I can read it if I find the graphic, route the Jaws cursor to the PC cursor, arrow up once and down again and it will read the first line of the balloon and that is it. If at that point I use INSERT B to read a dialog box, it will read the entire thing but not before reading everything on the screen first. So I'm looking how I can read it with one hot key. When I attempt to access www.groups.yahoo.com using Firefox 3.6.8 with JAWS 9, Jaws announces the number of headings, links etc. as the page is loading, but once the page has completely loaded, all the objects on it seem to vanish and the only thing JAWS recognizes is the title; all the headings, links buttons and edit fields are gone. Then when I attempt to return to my Google home page, it, too, is devoid of any headings, links or edit fields. The only way to restore my home page to normal is to close Firefox and restart it. But when I try to access the Yahoo page again, the same thing happens: the page loads but all of its objects seem to disappear. I do not encounter this problem with IE 8, nor with any other web sites. This problem seems to be unique to Yahoo.com. Does anyone have a clue why this page won't load properly with Firefox? What I wish I could do is get rid of the stuff on the left side of the page--that Web address and home split button you see. Because that actually seems to be where the problem lies--plus it is annoying because you can't just go to links like you could in I.E. 6. What seems to happen is, it tells you you're on the right page, but going past that home split thing it shows nothing. I sometimes see links if I turn off and on the virtual cursor, or if I hit F5 to refresh. But often I can't get the links and text bodies of the pages to show up. I know it went to the right page but something is either blocking it or something is maybe set wrong in config. Now the odd thing is, usually when using my special version of Jaws 8 this doesn't happen; however I can't use Jaws 8 to find a favorite because hitting alt and the letter a it doesn't read the list of favorites. So if anyone can help resolve these issues would appreciate it. Also does F.S. recommend anything regarding tool bars? Should they be locked, and which ones would one use when browsing with Jaws? Re: [JAWS-Users] verification codes
Unless there is an audio link, you won't be able to read them. They are a graphic and JAWS will not read those verifications. You can try e-mailing the website and see where you get with that. What is the command for reading verification codes? Whenever I try to sign up for something, such as a pay pal account, I get this request to type the characters I see, but JAWS won't read them. I am using JAWS 7.0.135 and I think I have IE6. Thank you for any help you can give me. Ann. Re: [JAWS-Users] A question about Jaws 9.0
Have you tried rebooting the computer? I've done that and I'm still unsuccessful. I don't know another way to explain it, but I'll try to get this resolved. Thanks again. But maybe you had Jaws running in the System tray before. If so Just go to Jaws options and in the basics menu just check the box to have Jaws run in the System Tray. If that is not the problem I will try to think again. [JAWS-Users] Activation problem
Hi everyone, I was upgraded to JAWS 10 at work today. I am having trouble with the activation. I have tried doing the Internet activation and received the message that it worked, but JAWS is still in 40 minute mode. I then went to fsactivate.com and put in my authorization number and locking code to get my authorization number. I entered this into JAWS and again was told my authorization was successful. JAWS is still in 40 minute mode. I restarted my computer and tried a second time. I have administration rights. I, in the past, have had no problems activating JAWS. does anyone have any ideas?
