What happens why you try Alt + Left Arrow?
I had not heard of using the backspace key to move back a page.

Try Alt+leftArrow keys. If a new browser window was opened by the new
page, then no movement back from it is possibnle and you must close this
new browser window to at least get back to where you were.

[JAWS-Users] IE 10 Jaws 15

2014-02-13 Thread Trish
I'm happy to report that IE 10 on my new Dell desktop has passed the bank
test, meaning my picky bank seems to like ie 10 better than 9.
Something right for a change

Jaws 15 seems to be working top form too.

Trish,

I've learned that pleasing everyone is impossible, but pissing
everyone off is a piece of cake.

I'll bet it's I E 9 or 10. The way to find out is to go to Internet Explorer
and press alt H for help. Then arrow to About and press enter. Hit insert B
and you'll hear the version. Or when you start reading The about section, I
think it will start by saying About Internet explorer version and the
number.

2014-02-13 Thread Mike B.
Hi Marilyn,

To check what version of Internet Explorer you are running, open Internet
Explorer, press, Insert / Jaws key, control, + V. This keystroke will tell
you what version of the currently program is. Or, with IE open press, Alt +
H, for help the letter, A, for about you should be able to arrow up /
down through this dialogue box to find which version of IE you're running.

Take care.

I'll bet it's I E 9 or 10. The way to find out is to go to Internet Explorer
and press alt H for help. Then arrow to About and press enter. Hit insert B
and you'll hear the version. Or when you start reading The about section, I
think it will start by saying About Internet explorer version and the
number.

[JAWS-Users] IE 10 jaws 13 question

2013-12-04 Thread Michael Amaro
Hello Listers,

I am thinking of upgrading from IE 8 to IE 10. Recently though I Tried IE 9.
When I tried to download a file with IE 9, If I wanted to brouze the net while
downloading the file it would pause the download. Needless to say, I had a
lot of parcially downloaded files. Do you need to press alt N to access the
information bar? When trying to save a file, do you still have the save split
button? Running windows 7 64 bit jaws 13. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks

Microsoft will be supporting IE 10 for some time.
As to Jaws, you can have multiple versions installed on the same machine.

I know this was just recently discussed and I read the posts. I want to try
this but I have this temperamental bank that gives me nothing but fits and
just recently they upgraded their computers and I just dreaded what that
would mean for me, fortunately the bill pay part did not change, so if I
upgrade my browser here, well hope yall understand why I am bit hesitant.
All my bills are setup through my bank's bill pay, this is crucial for me to

access.

I have been lazy here too, I have jaws 13 on my window's 7 laptop, 14 and 15

just came couple weeks ago, so get this now..a vender here locally who sells

FS products, has advised me not to install additional versions of Jaws on
one system. Well now, weather that is right or wrong, I have done that in
past. The dinosaur xp has 11 and 12 on it, but haven't installed anything
above 13 for the laptop, so what say ye on this subject?

I guess I didn't explain what I truly meant re Jaws. Jaws is all I've used
for me was 3.7, I haven't installed any other screen reader. I was much
impressed when I was starting a job back in 2001 as a book keeper for a
church and I was sent to San Antonio to test all the adaptive equipment,
Jaws and Open Book just won hands down.

So it's all I've ever known or used, it has some quirks at times or maybe
it's me or my Os, who knows, now I guess it's my ISP, next it will be the
devil, jk

I like a list that allows for us to agree to disagree. I want no ill with no
body and especially the mods. Jaws just works for me and I'm too old to
learn anew screen reader, I'll leave it at that..

If your current browser is getting the job done, why upgrade?
Microsoft will be supporting IE 10 for some time.
As to Jaws, you can have multiple versions installed on the same
machine.

I have been lazy here too, I have jaws 13 on my window's 7 laptop, 14

List, I am using latest Jaws 14, Windows 7 and IE 10.

Before activating a link on most web sites, I am finding that I need to
bring up the insert F7 list of links, find the link I want to activate,
then select move to link and activate this option and see if I am
really on the link I think I am on so I can activate the link.

I am seeing this problem on CNBC.com, Cnn.com and most other sites I
frequent.

Is there some setting I need to possibly change so that this issue will
go away?

Thanks for any input.

[JAWS-Users] IE 10 issue with links

2013-08-19 Thread John R Vaughn
List, I am using latest Jaws 14, Windows 7 and IE 10.

Before activating a link on most web sites, I am finding that I need to
bring up the insert F7 list of links, find the link I want to activate, then
select move to link and activate this option and see if I am really on the
link I think I am on so I can activate the link.

I am seeing this problem on CNBC.com, Cnn.com and most other sites I
frequent.

Is there some setting I need to possibly change so that this issue will go
away?

Thanks for any input.

2013-08-19 Thread Baracco, Andrew W
In the last 6 months, I have noticed this issue on www.nascar.com

I know that they did a major renovation of their site early this year,
and it is now full of flash and JavaScript. JAWS goes bonkers when you
try to do something as simple as to arrow down the page, and clicking on
links is very unreliable.

My employer's Elearning site does not support IE 10. It is quite common

Hi David,

A note here to online bankers..
After spending most of the day dealing with banking issues at my credit
union because they updated security settings, they only support IE 8 and
9 browsers. They do support other ones different from IE, but v/10 is
not on the list and not recommended to use.

Of course, not all banks are functioning on same security guidelines,
some might find IE 10 doesn't affect their online banking needs at all.
I just wanted to alert anyone to the possibility of the upgrade if they
experience online logging in issues.

The point is I see it as nothing anybody should be afraid to install at

It came in as an update this morning on my lap top and honestly it seems no
different at all although it might be a bit quicker on the download side of
things but I'm not certain about that as of yet.

The point is I see it as nothing anybody should be afraid to install at this
point.

[JAWS-Users] IE 10

2013-03-13 Thread Trish Scott
Is IE 10 for window's 7? Since finding it in my window's update today not
checked and not installed, just wanted to ask list if it's still an optional
choice for now, or is it the way of the future..?
I guess was thinking it was strictly for window's 8?

Thanks,

FWIW, I was forced to upgrade to WIN 7 after my old XP computer died last
October. The geek shop I dealt with sold me IE9 along with the OS. IE10
wasn't mentioned and, BTW, they also weren't then recommending WIN8 to any
of their customers. This was an ordinary, garden variety geek shop, not one
specializing in accessible technology, though they were certainly aware of
my peculiar needs and took them into consideration. I haven't done
research; but I gather that both WIN7 and IE9, unlike XP, will be around
awhile. JH

[JAWS-Users] IE 10 Win 8

2012-09-18 Thread Alan Robbins
I changed the subject line.

I wonder when Microsoft will push that out for Win 7 or if Win 8 us
the minimum for IE 10?

David, I hated the hassle with downloading. This is why I stick
with
 IE8.

Other than the interface being slightly different I have never had
a

 problem
with it at all. I just don't get the fact why so many of people are
 up in
 arms over a browser.

No, there is supposed to be a version of IE 8 for Win 7 too, I don't know
what happened to it though. I haven't heard any more about it on Windows
Weekly.
