Fred, thanks for posting the solution. I don't recall your previous message,
so I wonder if it actually posted. In any event, a useful reminder that JAWS
repairs sometimes do the job.

I posted an email message yesterday asking for help as jaws was not properly
reading articles on the internet. Jaws would read the title or headlines
but would not read the text body. I believe I have found the solution by
running the jaws repair on jaws 18 as jaws now seems to be reading properly.

Hi

I too have JAWS 15 and later, as I lost my vision to glaucoma in 2012
and was declared legally blind in 2013, soon after that I bought JAWS 15
and have maintained an SMA ever since.

After reading your message about JAWS 15 and 16 versus JAWS 17 and 18, I
realized the problems I've been struggling with between JAWS and IE11
that Freedom Scientific doesn't appear to know how to solve, started
with JAWS 17. Since I can't think of any new features introduced in 17
and 18 that are must haves, I wonder if I might be better off just going
back to JAWS 16.

Any thoughts?

Cheers!

Yes. It is actually not crashing, but it is closing down and reloading. I
also notice it is often very slow when I execute a JAWS find.

Since the latest upgrade of jaws 18 it crashes 9 out of ten times when I
open ie11 on my windows10 pc. Then I must wait until it restarts. I find it
to be less responsive in firefox. Do other listers also encounter this?

2016-12-08 Thread Gene Warner

Hi all

It is for that reason that I don't rely on IE to save all my passwords.
Instead I use RoboForm. Some parts of it are inaccessible, like the
password generator controls, but the essential functions are. I'd like
to find a password manager and form filler like RoboForm that is fully
accessible or convince Siber Systems to make all of RoboForm accessible.

Cheers!

Hi Fanus,
I would recommend re setting IE. Here are the steps to do that.
1. Open IE
2. Press alt + T for tools menu.
3. Press up arrow once and you should be on options. Press the enter key.
4. Press shift + Tab and you should hear General.
5. Press the arrow key until you hear advance.
6. Tab until you hear reset button.
7. Press enter on the reset button.
8. A dialog box will come up. Press tab once and you will hear something
about checking this box to delete personal information. Press
the spacebar here to check this check box.
9. Tab twice to the reset button and press the spacebar.
Wait a few minutes then close IE and reopen it. Now it should work like new.

Note checking the box about removing personal information will not remove

Hello,
I am running the latest JAWS 18 update on a Windows10 pc and I am not
having any issues with Internet Explorer11 reloading. I just installed
Firefox on here a few weeks ago with the latest version 50 update
applied and have not had issues with this browser yet. I would attempt
to delete your temporary Internet files and cookies in both browsers
to see if the issue is resolved. I would also make sure that the home
pages that you start to do not contain many ads and that you do not
have many which are opening at one time.

Hi Tom,
To answer your question. Yes, Jaws 16 works very well with IE9.
May I asked why you don't want to update to IE11? If you are running XP you
can only run up to IE9 but if you are using W7, 8.0,8.1, or W10 you can use
IE11 which is the latest version.

running XP you can only run up to IE9 but if you are using W7,
8.0,8.1, or W10 you can use IE11 which is the latest version. Ed

Re: [JAWS-Users] jaws 16 and internet explorer

2015-11-21 Thread Dave Carlson
Oh, I see that you, Tom are not the same Tom, the one who refuses to
upgrade. So when I pointed out to David and Alex that Tom was not wanting
to upgrade and was asking about JAWS 16 and compatibility with IE 9 I was
pointing out Tom Clary and not you Tom. So Tom Clary clearly does not want
to upgrade from IE 9 to IE 11 and Tom (not Clary) is not the same Tom and
does not embrace Tom's opinion on not upgrading.

Okay, Tom, are you up to speed on the message and the meaning?

Re: [JAWS-Users] jaws 16 and internet explorer

2015-11-21 Thread Tom Behler
Hello, everyone.

I feel the need to chime in here on this thread.

In defense of Tom, I have rolled back to Internet Explorer 10, due to what
seemed to be an unsolvable problem that I encountered with IE 11 and Jaws 16
this past summer. IE 11 was installed on my Windows 7 desktop with a
Windows update, and I suddenly found that I could not enter information into
form field edit boxes. I worked with a very experienced Jaws user, with FS
Tech Support, and with the Microsoft Accessibility Hotline on the issue, but
we could never solve the problem. My only solution was to roll back to IE
10, and everything worked fine once again.

I fully realize that I am going to have to do something about this issue at
some point, when IE 10 is no longer supported, but for right now, I'm not
sure what that will be. For now, I'm sticking with IE 10, and am using
Firefox as my alternate browser.

Hi Tom,
IE 11 works great with Jaws 16 and Jaws 17.
No need to worry about using IE 11.
When some people on here use the term, Jaws crashes, this is misleading,
they mean Jaws hesitates.
If Jaws 16 or Jaws 17 crashes, there will be a 30 second wait, then you will
hear, Jaws 16 home or professional version, the same message you hear after
logging-in to your computer.
However, a short delay of 5 or 10 seconds from Jaws, is not a crash, but a
Jaws delay.
So, if anyone notices this on their computers, please report this to Freedom
Scientific, so they can look into it.
This will help all of us with a pleasant experience when using Jaws.
Just my two cents worth on this topic...

Love God! with your heart, mind, and soul, that you might be blessed
reaching His goal.
Love your Neighbor as you would yourself, God will truly reward you with
good health.
Love God, your neighbor, as you love yourself, you will then be spiritually
balanced with wealth.
Love His Word that proceeds from His lips, then reflect on the heavens where
God sits.

Hi Tom,
IE 11 works great with Jaws 16 and Jaws 17.

Love His Word that proceeds from His lips, then reflect on the heavens where
God sits.

There is another practical side to IE9. I was using it until about a year
ago & upgraded to IE11 when one day BofA rejected my login until I upgraded.
More & more web sites are doing that with HTML 5 in wider use.
I know for myself that JAWS 16 "works" with IE9 but for me the question is
where can I not go with IE9?

[JAWS-Users] JAWS and The Internet

2015-04-07 Thread Lisle, Ted (CHFS DMS)
Hey, Eric, as long as you're sitting in, let's talk for a minute about Internet
under .1925. I don't know what improvements were made, but it can still be
dicey. I think the worst is the Silverlight program we use. There's one radio
button that may work, or may send the entire Internet into either a freeze or a
crash.

While I'm at it, if I can complain, I can also praise. This program, which can
be somewhat temperamental, was totally unusable a year ago. Thanks to work by
your development team (I wish I could remember the name of the fellow who came
here last year), in conjunction with the app's creator, JAWS is doing things it
never did before. This type of program may always need some tweaking, but I
have to thank all involved for a job very well done. It's heartening to think
that a problem at li'le old Medicaid can improve productivity for thousands
throughout the nation and the world.

Kevin,
If, you are using XP with IE 10 is not going to work great.
You should be on IE 8 instead.
Anyways jaws11 doesn't read the internet that great either.

[JAWS-Users] JAWS and the internet

2012-11-08 Thread Scott Duck
Hi all,

Yesterday I mentioned in a post that I have noticed increased JAWS
instability in recent versions. Now that I think about it, most of that
instability occurs when surfing the web. When I say instability, I mostly
am referring to JAWS losing focus and not easily getting it back as well as
occasionally crashing. I am using IE9 on a Windows 7 machine. I'm not sure
if this is a JAWS issue or a IE issue or a issue with how JAWS interacts
with IE. I wonder if I would have better stability with Fire Fox. Also, I
believe that someone on the list recently mentioned that they have better
luck with stability with IE 64 bit. I would like to hear thoughts and
suggestions please.

Thanks,

Scott Duck

 Hi:

After my last screw up, it's almost embarrassing to post anything here,
 but I
have a question anyway. Why does JAWS 9 say toolbar when you are in the
 address
bar of a message or at least in the address bar area to type in an
 address? Also
it seems that quite often I am in a google quick-find even though I've not
 hit
control e or backslash. It's at these times that everything I type goes

Perhaps I should check my desktop and see if one is lurking. I use both

 Thanks.

[JAWS-Users] JAWS 9 and internet address bar

2008-04-26 Thread Carlene Knight
Hi:

After my last screw up, it's almost embarrassing to post anything here, but I
have a question anyway. Why does JAWS 9 say toolbar when you are in the address
bar of a message or at least in the address bar area to type in an address? Also
it seems that quite often I am in a google quick-find even though I've not hit
control e or backslash. It's at these times that everything I type goes into
Google. I wonder if I have a google toolbar hiding somewhere in the depths.
Perhaps I should check my desktop and see if one is lurking. I use both Firefox

Re: [JAWS-Users] JAWS 9 and internet address bar

2008-04-26 Thread Flor Lynch
You got two questions there. Regarding the Address toolbar: Hit ctrl+tab
until you get to the Address bar, or the main page, whichever you want at
the time. Now, for the other: You may have turned on the default search
page (which operates in Internet Explorer, and maybe in Firefox as well
although I don't know for sure) with the control-e toggle. Next time you
open a page in Internet Explorer, hit ctrl+e and see what that gives.

I've never done it all the way, but I think what you're getting is, with the
default search toggled on with ctrl-e (which you can turn off again with
ctrl-e), and your default search engine in IE7 set to Google, exactly what
is to be expected.

Hi, in Internet Explorer, open the view menu with alt v, press t to open the
toolbars submenu, and you should see it there. If it's checked, it's visible
and you'll need to press enter to uncheck (hide) the toolbar, and vice
versa. Hope that helps.

Re: [JAWS-Users] JAWS 9 and internet address bar

2008-04-26 Thread Victor Gouveia
Hi Carlene,

If the Google toolbar is installed on your computer, you'll find it in the
add/remove programs dialog box, not anywhere else that you mentioned.

I would also suggest you go to the view menu and see what is checked on and
what isn't.

You can do this by opening an internet explorer window, then pressing alt+V
to go to the view menu, then arrow down to the explorer bar sub-menu.

In that menu are a number of choices that will either have a check mark
beside it, or not.

If you see the check mark beside an item, just press enter to disable it.

I would also go through the toolbar sub-menu also to see what is checked on
and what isn't.

Lastly, another thing I would look at are the add-ons that are running with
Internet Explorer, as some add-ons will interfere with some of internet
explorer's functions.

I have found that Spybot does that quite often, something I didn't find out
until I had to disable each of my add-ons until I found the culprit that was
interfering with my surfing habits.

Anyway, hope this helps.

[JAWS-Users] JAWS with the Internet

2008-02-25 Thread Mark Finnigan
Dear all,

I have had a recurring problem with JAWS and the Internet, and I am
wondering whether there is anyone out there who can suggest something.

I am using Windows XP Home Edition version 2002 with JAWS 7.1. When using
JAWS and MAGic on certain websites, the computer switches off and restarts
itself. I have got a sighted person to try out the sites without any
adaptive software running, and there is no problem. I have tried the sites
with JAWS on a separate laptop, and again the whole thing restarts.

It is immaterial whether the browser I use is Internet Explorer (version 7)
or Firefox.

Is there any setting within either JAWS or windows that can view more coding
or Java, if this is the problem? I have never done anything other than
accept the default settings when browsing the web, so I would welcome any
suggestions.

The only clue I have (although I have no idea how to take advantage of it)
is that I get a balloon at the bottom of the screen advising me that my
virtual memory is too low, and that windows is increasing the size of my
virtual memory paging file.

The site on which this happens most often is the eBay My eBay page. It is
really annoying. I have had to go back to using Zoomtext for viewing this
website, which is just about adequate but not nearly as good as being able
to use JAWS.

Thanks for any help.

Mark

Re: [JAWS-Users] JAWS with the Internet

2008-02-25 Thread Job Hunter
Hi,

If you have been using Jaws 7.1 for all of your testing, maybe you should
download the latest version and use it in demo mode and see if the problem
persists.

I am currently using Jaws 6.2, which works very well. I have a license for
version 7.1, but when I have used it, my computer always seems to experience
some sort of strange problems. so, it looks like I'll be using 6.2 for the
foreseeable future.

Good luck,
John

Re: [JAWS-Users] JAWS with the Internet

2008-02-25 Thread Tim
no, it does matter if your using IE7 with jaws 7, because there are
some things that it just won't do well. And your adding magic with it
so that combo just might be crashing on IE7.

At 06:20 PM 2/25/2008, you wrote:

Mark
