[JAWS-Users] Installing JAWS 2018
I am woefully behind. I downloaded JAWS2018 a while ago. When I tried to activate it, two versions began to talk. I have been too busy to go back to it but do not have a clue as to why that is occurring. Since I am preparing to purchase 2019, I guess I better do something! I am currently on JAWS 17, and Windows 10. Michelle For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/

Hi While you're using JAWS 15 after installing it, press insert+j to open the JAWS window, or context menu if you run JAWS from the system tray. Now open the utilities menu and move to the second item, which is merge utility and press enter. Make sure the source is 14.0 and tab to the OK button and press enter. The last time I used the merge utility in JAWS 15, or maybe JAWS14, it merged everything except for some JKM files, keyboard mapping, that I had created in my user settings folder to add or change some keystrokes to some applications that has JKM files in the default settings folder. -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of Pinky Sent: Monday, June 23, 2014 10:29 To: JAWS-Users-List 2 Subject: [JAWS-Users] Installing jaws 15 Hi Group, When a person upgrades to Jaws 15 is there a way to have the setting from Jaws 14 be carried over to Jaws 15? I must admit defeat at this point as to not finding any instructions how to accomplish the task mentioned in the subject line. Re: [JAWS-Users] Installing JAWS 3.5
The reason you got jaws 3.31 working on xp is because that is a networking version. it wasn't released to the public as a win95 or 98 op. it ran best under win nt. My college was working with that version and it was really stable. Hi, If you are using a jaws disc, it tells you to close other programs. The speech from the cd should start the installation process. Re: [JAWS-Users] Installing Jaws Question
Hi Linda, That is possible, but not always the case. I have installed Jaws from cd, while running a different version of Jaws at the same time. When the installer starts, Jaws switches to the version being installed. On the other hand, if you are using a different screen reader not from Freedom Scientific, you do need to close it. Re: [JAWS-Users] Installing Jaws Question
You are so correct in what you say here... Naturally after getting the green light this morning to proceed, I was utterly amazed to hear jaws do exactly what you said here and that was just like wow to me! I have never performed an install of Jaws from a download, always on the disks... Re: [JAWS-Users] Installing Jaws 8 on Windows Vista Business Edition
Hi Vidtor, you need to upgrade to at least build 1177 in order to use JAWS 8 under Vista. Alternatively, upgrade to JAWS 9. You see, Vista uses mirroring technologies, meaning any screen readers using the DCM technology will have issues, like you've come across now. Hope that helps. Is there a fix for this? I have confirmed that I am running the 32 bit version of Vista, and I am logged on as an administrator. Am I to assume that the only way I can do this is by using Narrator? Re: [JAWS-Users] Installing Jaws 8 on Windows Vista Business Edition
You can try to update the video drivers. However, another person is having the same issue on her Toshiba. So this just might be a bug in the video intercept. Re: [JAWS-Users] installing jaws 9 training material
HI Lisa. When you install JAWS 9, it will ask you to restart your computer. Just leave the CD in the drive. You'll be taken to the JAWS startup wizard. There is where you'll be asked if you would like to install the traning materials. If you don't get the startup Wizard, you can find it by going to the JAWS window with insert j, activating the help menu, and then arrowing up three times to the start up wizard. Hope this helps. Re: [JAWS-Users] installing jaws 9 training material
Hi. After you install JAWS from the CD, you will be asked if you'd like to install the JAWS 9.0 training material. so just answer yes. If for some reason you aren't asked to install it, you can look on the CD for a training folder and simply copy that to any location you'd like on your machine. But keep in mind folks, you don't *have* to do it this way. The DAISY books and mp3 files for the JAWS 9.0 training can be freely downloaded from the FS site from the Training Headquarters link. If you're on a slower connection, or just don't want to do it that way though, you can most certainly install it from the CD. I mentioned the website though, because as new training material is made available, it's posted to the website, so you might miss something new that isn't on the cd. So I thought I'd make it absolutely clear that the CD isn't your only option of installing the training materials. Hope that helps. Re: [JAWS-Users] installing jaws 9 training material
I recently installed 9.0 from the Freedom Scientific web site. It went well. However, I also tried to download the training material. I am not sure if it worked. I know this sounds silly, but when I try to open the training material, it sounds like I only get JAWS 8.0 material. My question is, How can I tell of I have the most recent version of training material? Thank you. Re: [JAWS-Users] Installing JAWS On A Second Computer
Donny, you can either get a friend to activate it for you (well, he/she will give you an activation code that you need to enter). Alternatively you can telephone your local JAWS dealer, give them your unlock code and authorization number, then they'll either give you the code over the phone or send you a CD in the mail that will activate it for you, I'm not sure. Hope that helps. This computer is not hooked to the internet. It is just for documents, games and stuff like that. After installing JAWS 6.0 on this computer, I keep getting a box pop up that wants me to authorize JAWS on this computer. I have no way of doing this through the internet on this computer. Re: [JAWS-Users] Installing JAWS On A Second Computer
You can authorize Jaws on more than one machine, useing a single license. For first hand information about this, it would be best to either contact FS, or visit: www.freedomscientific.com HTH, Richard Justice www.blind-computing.com - Original Message - From: Faisal To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Sent: Thursday, September 06, 2007 11:30 AM Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Installing JAWS On A Second Computer well you would have to make sure that jaws is authorized to run on that second computer. you can't install your copy of jaws on to a second computer unless you perchaased another licence. correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe once you perchase jaws, you only get one activation for a single computer unless you buy another licence.
