Re: [JAWS-Users] Outlook 2016

2018-07-20 Thread Miriam Vieni
I've always read those two lines with alt 1 for the from field and alt 3 for
the to field, and that still works.
But when I go to the top of the message with control home, which I do
regularly because that's the only way I've been able to get to the top for
years in Outlook, Jaws sometimes reads the from line, rather than the top
line of the message, ever since this new update. And I have to close every
email in order to respond to it with control R. I emailed VFO about
responding to emails and they has two complicated work arounds for me. It's
simpler to just close the email and then respond.
However, one of their emails had questions for me to answer. If I pressed
control R and went down to their original email and answered the questions,
that worked fine. And then I could go back up to the top of the email and
write something with no problem.
I know this is complicated. It's really hard to describe. I'm just sorry I
did the update.

Hi friends,

Using the latest JAWS 2018 and Microsoft Outlook 2016.
If I open an email, I don't seem to be able to change in to JAWS cursor and
read the top of the message heading where the to and cc fields are which is
how I would normally check this.
Has anyone had any similar issues?
The only way I can read the to and cc fields is to shift+tab back to them
and it is sometimes useful to use the JAWS cursor to read the top part of
the screen.

With this version of jaws, the jaws cursor is restricted. I suggest that
you activate the invisible cursor which has no restrictions. I'm not sure
why that was done, but it seems that the jaws cursor seems to follow the PC
cursor and is, as I'm sure you know, restricted from movement in certain
areas.

read the availability details of the people I've added, and adjust in an

[JAWS-Users] Outlook 2016/Jaws 2018 latest

2018-06-26 Thread rosecombs52
If you want the remaining numbers, don't ask me.

Problem: First, had to dismiss a reminder using the Jaws cursor, could not
tab to the correct button as in earlier versions of Outlook from 97 forward.
I have office 365 now.

Second, if I write a long message, longer than a line or two and have Jaws
set to read messages as I open them, it stops after the subject line and I
have to invoke the continuous read command, and this has been an issue since
Outlook 2010 in my experience, solution is to close Outlook and reopen it,
and it has been an issue since at least Jaws 16. It is annoying and I have
posed this issue more than once.

I don't usually reply to a lot of messages, but this propensity of having to
shut Outlook and reopen because I did reply just to be able to hear the
actual message when I have it set to read messages when open is not the way
it should work.

Windows 10 April, Jaws 2018 June, Office 365 updates when necessary, I am
not on any program like Fast Ring or beta testing for Windows.

Re: [JAWS-Users] outlook export/import.

2018-06-20 Thread Sharon S
Hi, I did it this way when moving from one computer to another. I had no
issues except when loading things into my new machine I ended up getting
double ups of messages. This is because I have my mail set to only delete
off the server if deleted from trash so as soon as I set up the new mail
program it started downloading all my messages off the server and once I
imported my messages from my old machine I ended up with both copies.

My only problem I still have is I couldn't export my account settings so I
currently can't get one of my email account working.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] outlook export/import.

good afternoon folks, I'm back with another question, or perhaps a
verification,

one of my client's wants to export from outlook 2010, and import to outlook
2016.

I did a quick google search and found the following.

has anyone tried this?

Look at the process below to migrate Outlook 2010 PST data to Outlook 2016.

Stage1: Backup/Export Outlook 2010 PST data to an Outlook .pst file

To export mailbox data to an Outlook .pst file, follow the steps given
below:

list of 7 items

1. Launch your MS Outlook 2010 application.

2. On the topmost ribbon of MS Outlook, go to the File Tab. Click
Options>Advanced>Export.

3. From Import and Export wizard, select Export to a file. Click Next.

4. In the next Export to a file wizard, select Outlook Data File (.pst) and
click Next.

5. Select the email account name you need to export. To export the entire
PST data, select the checkbox Include Subfolders. Click Next.

You can export a single folder also by selecting that particular folder. In
this case, you have to clear the Include subfolders check box. Click Next.

Note: You cannot select more than one folder to export. To export another
folder, you have to perform the whole process again, i.e., a single folder
or

whole mailbox can be exported at a time.

Here, only Inbox folder is selected to export to a .pst file or to have a
backup of inbox items.

One more option is available to apply Filter to select particular items from
the folder. With advanced filters, you can select important emails from your

folder.

6. In Export Outlook Data File wizard, Browse and select the required
location to export your file. You can select the required option. Click
Finish to

continue.

7. After this, a dialogue box is popped up asking for the password (if you
have set a password for PST file or when you are creating a new .pst file).

Insert password and click OK. Your file will get saved to the selected
location. Select checkbox. Your password is saved for future use.

list end

Stage2: Import and Add PST file data to Outlook 2016

Import Outlook 2010 .pst file into Outlook 2016 using the given steps:

list of 6 items

1. Launch MS Outlook 2016 application.

2. Go to the File Tab. Click Open & Export>Import/Export.

3. From Import and Export wizard, select Import from another program or
file.

4. Select file type as Outlook data file (.pst). Click Next.

5. Click Browse to provide the location of the .pst file to be imported.
Click on the required option and click Next.

6. Select the particular folder or select include all subfolders. You can
apply Filter if selecting a single folder. Click Finish to complete the
process.

list end

The impossible is the untried, Never under estimate the power of a
dream.

Re: [JAWS-Users] outlook export/import.

2018-06-19 Thread JM Casey
Yes. I did the export process, but it crashed the programme (outlook 2010
also). However, the .pst file is there, and it's very large. So I'm sort of
assuming it worked and the crash occurred after it was finished. I have yet
to try it a second time because I have been unsuccessful in removing Office
2010 from my computer, so don't yet have 2016 installed. These MS programmes

Click Finish to complete the
process.

list end

I haven't had that particular problem. However, I have had a string of
issues with Outlook 2016 as part of Office 365, Windows 7 and first Jaws 18
and then Jaws 2018. Outlook crashes on a regular basis or Jaws does,
particularly in html messages. I just feel like the combination of programs
is unstable and using it is very frustrating.

I either get to the attachment option via the Outlook menu, or I use Alt N

I want to stress that this only started happening late yesterday evening, so
I'm wondering if my issue has something to do with an Office 365 update.

Interestingly, I tried the process again late last night, and was
successful, only to have it not work when I tried it for a third time.

Can you review for me your method for adding attachments, and I'll give it a

[JAWS-Users] Outlook E-mail Problem

2018-06-06 Thread Tom Behler
Hello, everyone.

I realize this might be off topic for the list, and I might have to call
Microsoft Accessibility on the issue, but my Outlook 2016 in Office 365 has
developed a serious issue. Specifically, whenever I try to attach a file to
an e-mail, Outlook crashes and stops responding.

This happens with both my University and my personal e-mail accounts.

This issue just started happening a few hours ago.

I would appreciate any suggestions with regard to settings I might check,
etc.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Miriam,
Check your speaker connection to the computer as well as any connections
between the speakers.
Sometimes partially pulling the connector from the jack on the computer then
pushing it back in firmly
will correct the problem.

1, first copy the email address to the clipboard,

2, now navigate to outlook,
use the keystroke,
ctrl+shift+c=new contact,

3, you will be placed into the first and last name,
so hear you could type in the name of the list,
example;
jaws-users list

4, now you need to tab 7 times, you will hear;
email edit,
now you can paste from the clipboard,
now you can either, press escape and say yes to save changes,
or, you could press alt+s=save.
your email address contact is now into the contacts.
note, when you do the copy, make sure there's no spaces at the beginning or
the end of the email address.

My first question: The sound to alert one that a new email has arrived is
checked, according to my sighted daughter. But it has apparently gotten much
softer. I know I'm losing my hearing. However, I don't think I've lost a
huge amount within the past few days. How do I get the volume up?

Second: A few minutes ago, I lost the volume in my right hand speaker. Is
there a way to turn it on?

Third Question: If an email is sent from an email list which is set up so
that when one responds, the response goes to the original sender of the
email and not to the entire list, how can I add the list email address to
contacts?

Re: [JAWS-Users] Outlook 2016

2018-04-26 Thread David Whitehead
here's the approach I've taken with a few client's regarding the outlook
email notification.

Try the following:

Select "File" then "Manage Rules & Alerts" button

Create a new rule

Start from a blank rule and select "Apply rule on messages I receive"

Click "Next"

On the next screen where it asks which conditions you want to check, click
"Next" again and you will be asked if you want the rule to be applied to
every
message you receive.

Click "Yes"

Select checkbox "Play a sound"

In the window just below where it says "Step 2" click on the "Play a sound"
link and browse to sound file you want to play

Click on the "Open" button

Your selected sound should then appear in the "Step 2" window

Click "Next"

Click "Next" again (unless you want any exceptions)

Specify a name for your new rule and then click "Finish"

That's it!

Let me know if it works.
I don't expect you to perform these steps, however, just giving you a little
thought.

hello a few things hear;

first regarding your sound, did you do the easiest thing first? restart
computer?
sometimes this is the easiest fix.
second, regarding the email notification,
this is an issue some folks have with outlook 2013,2016,
you could create a sound rule, which would work,
as for your third question, have you checked at the bottom of the message to
see what the actual email address is?
some list post the information at the bottom of the messages.

David,

I just went to my address book. There are huge numbers of names in that
address book, names with email addresses. There are repititions of names and
variations on names and email addresses. If I chose, I could spend a week
going through those contacts and trying to clean them out. I am in the c's,
and I only deleted a few. If I had more time now, I could delete many more.
I just deleted some that were obvious errors and some that I know I'll never
use But it took 20 minutes and I didn't finish the c's.again.

auto complete isn't so basically, I suppose there's still something
corrupted. The Microsoft person told me that he'd emptied auto complete, and
that if I write the first few letters and press control K, I'd get a list of
relevant addresses from which I could choose. I tried that just now with my
daughter's address and the list the control K brought up was completely
irrelevant. And I still have to paste in the correct address for the DB
Review list. David helped me upgrade to Jaws 2018 and we got rid of the to

except for the blind democracy list for some unknown reason.

Hello David,
I'm using Outlook 2010, and this does work, with the comment that the first
press of "C" Brought me to calendar. I could press "C" again, or arrow down
once to get to contacts.
You taught me something I did not know. I like to keep a list of all my
email contacts in both a Word and WordPad document as a backup. I've always
gone to contacts with
Control-3
After copying an email address to add,
and then pressed
Control-n
To add a new contact.
Your way would be quicker if I had an email message handy, smile, though I
would always add the address to my Word and WordPad docs too.
I also forget about the
Control-y
To bring up the folder list, since my hands automatically press
Shift-tab to get to the folder list.
As usual, ways and ways...

Ok;

The keystroke ctrl+shift+y=Copy a Folder So, to add contact to the contacts
folder,

1, enter on the message which contains the email address,

2, use the keystroke, ctrl+shift+y=copy A Folder, You will hear jaws say
something like, Copy item to dialog,

3, press the letter c=contacts press enter, Within a few seconds you should
see the Contact property page with all the contact information, You can
check this by using the tab key.
If your satisfied, just press alt+s=save.
You will be placed back into the message.
This does work with 2016, 2013, I would assume it would work in 2010 also.
Again, the ctrl+shift+y is a office keystroke.

I strongly recommend you to install Office and use Microsoft Outlook, which

Then this is the cause, your Office edition. Outlook is available starting from
Home and Small Business edition, but not Home and Student.
Although its not so common, you can purchase or download Outlook (and any
Office program separately), but you will not have some functionalities compared
to Outlook built into the suite.

Hope it helps!

Hi,

Outlook is not free, but a part of Office editions higher than home ones. It
works on any Windows version in which you can install an Office version
compatible with the running Windows version.
Outlook Express was the e-mail and newsgroup client included with IE in
Windows XP and earlier. It was free. It is available for downloads in some
websites, but be aware that running this client on Windows later than XP is
not officially supported by Microsoft.
Windows 10 includes a free client called Mail, but it is very basic even
compared with the old Microsoft free alternatives Outlook Express, Windows
Mail included in Vista and Windows Live Mail included with the Windows Live
Essentials suite, together with other stuff like Windows Live Messenger,
Writter, SkyDrive (currently OneDrive), etc.
I strongly recommend you to install Office and use Microsoft Outlook, which
is full featured, customizable and very accessible.

2018-03-25 Thread Mike B.
Hi Jerry,

Open the Start menu & open the Programs / All Programs folder. Arrow
through this folder to see if you have a sub-folder called Microsoft Office
Tools, if so, press enter or right arrow to open. Now poke around in here
to see if you have Outlook. Another way to check is to open the root of the
C / operating system drive, & the easy way to do this is to press, Windows
key + R, to open the Run dialog. Type a single, backslash, & press enter.
Depending on if your Office version is 32 or 64 bit will depend on which
folder it will be located in. If your Office version is 32 bit, it'll be

2 things I forgot to ask you taht are important with installing OE66. Did

antivirus program are you running? Whoops 1 more thing, not to bag on
computer brands, but if you're running an HP computer they seem to have more
trouble with OE6 more so than any other brand.

Hi Gary,

You can purchase your keys, 3 for $20, & download the installer from the
website below:

http://runasxp.com/Forum-Outlook-Express-6-for-Windows-7-8

You might have to sign up to his website to get the installer, but if you
don't want to do that just say so, & I'll send you the latest installer & a
spellchecker. I have to warn you that J2018 does not have any scripts for
Outlook Express so Jaws ability to read everything you might be used to
hearing in OE is somewhat limited, but I have some scritps that may or may
not help. But, since you're running Windows 7, if you install Jaws 16, the
last Jaws version to have OE scripts, your J16 latest & OE will get along
pretty damn good, whoops, pretty gosh darn good!

Re: [JAWS-Users] outlook 2010 desktop

2018-02-08 Thread Fernando Gregoire
Hi Kevin,

Unlike the Outlook Android version which offers a Files section, the only
communication of Outlook 2016 for Windows with OneDrive is for attaching files.
It allows to attach files not synchronized on your computer even if you have
Files on Demand feature disabled or you are using Windows 7, as well as sending
links to OneDrive files or folders instead of actually attaching the files to
the message.
But even the Android version requires the OneDrive app to be installed for most
operations, so in practice the Files section on this platform is a useless
limited front-end.

Hope I was clear enough.

I had 03, to 07, to 010, to 013, to 016, there might be a 019 in the future.

If, you own an Office 010 you must have a key number somewhere saved
If not, bite the bullet. I bit the bullet one time on an openbook 8, didn't
taste to bad!
Jorge,
Its not for real!
Its just a fantasy!
Sometimes a fantasy is all you need!

working.

no matter if he uses, ctrl+e=search, f3=search, or, even use the advance search
ctrl+shift+f,

each of the above choices yielded zero results,

can anyone give a possible reason why?

I did go into the file/options/search, however, everything their seemed to be
fine.

hope someone can give a fix or perhaps point me in the right direction.

I recall hearing that outlook 2016 has had some issues with the search.

I must confess, I'm using office 2016, I've never experienced this behavior.

Kevin,

As Dave posted, you can navigate with F6. However, to switch conveniently
between a list of messages and the list of folders, I use tab and shift-tab.
Shift-tab takes you from the message list to the folders list, while tab
does the reverse. Like F6, continuous tabbing rotates you through various
other branches of Outlook 2010 before returning you to where you began.

I’m wondering if i have to disable some settings to allow keystrokes on the

I have requested IT to install the desktop program, however i don’t know if or

In Outlook 2010, hold down the alt key and press f to open the file manager.
Tab to add account and press enter. On the next screen, fill in your name,
email address, and password and press enter on the next button.

yes there is a stand alone version of outlook express,
however, if you run the program within windows 10, any major update/build,
the program will get erased.
thus loosing files/contacts.
this happen to a client.

Hah...you can still get copies of anything. Of course, some old DOS
programmes won't work anymore without some kind of emulation, but hey ...
people should use what they want to.

That said, Outlook Express might be vulnerable compared with newer
programmes. I used it until I retired my XP machine last March, myself, but
there's nothing wrong with Outlook, or Thunderbird, which are likely more
secure -- and with an e-mail programme, that is something to consider. I'm
also not sure Outlook Express will work with the IMAP type of e-mail
servers.
