Re: [JAWS-Users] outlook question

2014-06-01 Thread Trish
I know that is true. I have Office installed, and I don't use Outlook, but
it's installed. I only had to enter the key one time when installing.
You might want to have someone look at t for you if possible and enter it
correctly, maybe you missed a letter or number, or maybe it needs to be in
caps.
I would write it down somewhere like in notepad, then copy and paste it in
the edit key field

Re: [JAWS-Users] outlook question

2014-06-01 Thread Dacia Luck
I've been using the rest of office, namely word and excell for a
couple years. I just configured my outlook email a couple of weeks
ago when it became necessary for me to use it and it says I need to
enter the key the other office programs didn't ask me to do this. I
guess I can try entering the key and see what happens.

Re: [JAWS-Users] outlook question

2014-06-01 Thread Alan Robbins
Ok, this is why Outlook is looking for a separate registration #. With
the student edition, you only get Word, Excel, and maybe a couple more
but I know Outlook is not included. It will allow you to install but
you need to purchase a registration # from Microsoft. Probably will
cost you at least $100

Home and Student office 2010 edition *does not* come automatically with
Outlook. You have to get it separately, which can be done around the
time you purchase Student.

Dacia,

That explains your issue. Outlook is not available on Home and Student 2010;
only Word, Excel, Powerpoint and OneNote. You need to have Home and
Business at a minimum to get Outlook, or Office 2010 Professional.

outlook but only on a trial basis right now.

Re: [JAWS-Users] outlook question

2014-06-03 Thread david
hello Dicia;

the reason why your being prompted to type in a office key is?
msoutlook doesn't come with student addition.
if you still want to email, you could use windows live mail,
or, if you want to use outlook, you would need to upgrade your office.

I've been using the rest of office, namely word and excell for a
couple years. I just configured my outlook email a couple of weeks
ago when it became necessary for me to use it and it says I need to
enter the key the other office programs didn't ask me to do this. I
guess I can try entering the key and see what happens.

Denny, many thanks for this. I have struggled with jaws and windows 7 for

Four operating systems later, I still feel swamped by all of this new arranging

I went into that location and there are two places you can change the
send/receive time. The first one you come to is the one you want to change the
time Outlook send/receive. The next one a couple of tab down is the time for
Outlook to send/receive when Outlook is offline. So make sure you are on the
first send/receive as this one is for when you are online with Outlook. I hope
this makes since.

Marilyn,
I went back into the location for send/receive and my settings remain as to
what I set it as. I set my send/receive to 1 minute and it was still set at
that setting.
If your does not stay at the last setting you set it too let me know.

Hah...you can still get copies of anything. Of course, some old DOS
programmes won't work anymore without some kind of emulation, but hey ...
people should use what they want to.

That said, Outlook Express might be vulnerable compared with newer
programmes. I used it until I retired my XP machine last March, myself, but
there's nothing wrong with Outlook, or Thunderbird, which are likely more
secure -- and with an e-mail programme, that is something to consider. I'm
also not sure Outlook Express will work with the IMAP type of e-mail
servers.

Outlook and other Microsoft programs take advantage of the Windows Search
infrastructure, so check also the Indexing Options in Control Panel and, if
everything there is fine too, go to Services to see if the Windows Search

Hope it helps!

one of my client's contacted me today and said, his outlook search stopped
working.

no matter if he uses, ctrl+e=search, f3=search, or, even use the advance search

each of the above choices yielded zero results,

can anyone give a possible reason why?

I did go into the file/options/search, however, everything their seemed to be
fine.

hope someone can give a fix or perhaps point me in the right direction.

I recall hearing that outlook 2016 has had some issues with the search.

I must confess, I'm using office 2016, I've never experienced this behavior.

in advance thanks.

My first question: The sound to alert one that a new email has arrived is
checked, according to my sighted daughter. But it has apparently gotten much
softer. I know I'm losing my hearing. However, I don't think I've lost a huge
amount within the past few days. How do I get the volume up?

Second: A few minutes ago, I lost the volume in my right hand speaker. Is there
a way to turn it on?

Third Question: If an email is sent from an email list which is set up so that
when one responds, the response goes to the original sender of the email and
not to the entire list, how can I add the list email address to contacts?

Miriam

hello a few things hear;

first regarding your sound, did you do the easiest thing first? restart
computer?
sometimes this is the easiest fix.
second, regarding the email notification,
this is an issue some folks have with outlook 2013,2016,
you could create a sound rule, which would work,
as for your third question, have you checked at the bottom of the message to
see what the actual email address is?
some list post the information at the bottom of the messages.

My first question: The sound to alert one that a new email has arrived is
checked, according to my sighted daughter. But it has apparently gotten much
softer. I know I'm losing my hearing. However, I don't think I've lost a
huge amount within the past few days. How do I get the volume up?

Second: A few minutes ago, I lost the volume in my right hand speaker. Is
there a way to turn it on?

Third Question: If an email is sent from an email list which is set up so
that when one responds, the response goes to the original sender of the
email and not to the entire list, how can I add the list email address to
contacts?

Re: [JAWS-Users] Outlook 2016

2018-04-26 Thread David Whitehead
here's the approach I've taken with a few client's regarding the outlook
email notification.

Try the following:

Select "File" then "Manage Rules & Alerts" button

Create a new rule

Start from a blank rule and select "Apply rule on messages I receive"

Click "Next"

On the next screen where it asks which conditions you want to check, click
"Next" again and you will be asked if you want the rule to be applied to
every
message you receive.

Click "Yes"

Select checkbox "Play a sound"

In the window just below where it says "Step 2" click on the "Play a sound"
link and browse to sound file you want to play

Click on the "Open" button

Your selected sound should then appear in the "Step 2" window

Click "Next"

Click "Next" again (unless you want any exceptions)

Specify a name for your new rule and then click "Finish"

That's it!

Let me know if it works.
I don't expect you to perform these steps, however, just giving you a little
thought.

Statistics are like a bikini.  What they reveal is suggestive, but
what they conceal is vital.

I know what the actual list address is. I have it stored in a word document
and I have to go to that document and copy it and then paste it into the to
field of the email that I want to send to the list. I would like to get it
into the contacts. However, when I used your directions, they gave me the
contact for the person who originally sent the email to the list, so I need
a way to get the email address of the list into the contacts. Of course,
that doesn't ensure that auto complete will work. It works for some

1, first copy the email address to the clipboard,

2, now navigate to outlook,
use the keystroke,
ctrl+shift+c=new contact,

3, you will be placed into the first and last name,
so hear you could type in the name of the list,
example;
jaws-users list

4, now you need to tab 7 times, you will hear;
email edit,
now you can paste from the clipboard,
now you can either, press escape and say yes to save changes,
or, you could press alt+s=save.
your email address contact is now into the contacts.
note, when you do the copy, make sure there's no spaces at the beginning or
the end of the email address.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Outlook 2016

2018-07-20 Thread john_justice
With this version of jaws, the jaws cursor is restricted. I suggest that
you activate the invisible cursor which has no restrictions. I'm not sure
why that was done, but it seems that the jaws cursor seems to follow the PC
cursor and is, as I'm sure you know, restricted from movement in certain
areas.

Hi friends,

Using the latest JAWS 2018 and Microsoft Outlook 2016.
If I open an email, I don't seem to be able to change in to JAWS cursor and
read the top of the message heading where the to and cc fields are which is
how I would normally check this.
Has anyone had any similar issues?
The only way I can read the to and cc fields is to shift+tab back to them
and it is sometimes useful to use the JAWS cursor to read the top part of
the screen.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Outlook 2016

2018-07-20 Thread Miriam Vieni
I've always read those two lines with alt 1 for the from field and alt 3 for
the to field, and that still works.
But when I go to the top of the message with control home, which I do
regularly because that's the only way I've been able to get to the top for
years in Outlook, Jaws sometimes reads the from line, rather than the top
line of the message, ever since this new update. And I have to close every
email in order to respond to it with control R. I emailed VFO about
responding to emails and they has two complicated work arounds for me. It's
simpler to just close the email and then respond.
However, one of their emails had questions for me to answer. If I pressed
control R and went down to their original email and answered the questions,
that worked fine. And then I could go back up to the top of the email and
write something with no problem.
I know this is complicated. It's really hard to describe. I'm just sorry I
did the update.

Hello;

In MSOutlook2010 I do the following to create a distribution list,

Open outlook;

Now I press ctrl+3=contacts,

Next I press,
Alt+h=uper ribbon home tab,
Now I press the letter c=contact, and g=group,
I land in a edit field, so I type the name of the group,
Next I use the keystroke;
Alt+h=upper ribbon home tab,

Now I press,
C=contact,
M=member,

Now I see;

>From Outlook ContactsC
>From Address BookA
New E-mail ContactE
Here you make your choice,

Hope this helps.

Not sure if it's the same in msOutlook2007.

I thought it is nice to because just as you stated, at least I don't have to
manually check each folder for messages and will have an idea of what
folders will have emails in them.
I was just curious if there was a way to stop all that announcing.

Hi,

I was just curious and I been wanting to ask this for such a long time but
it never irritated me that much to ask. Seriously, its not that big of a
deal but I will ask anyways.

This doesn't happen in outlook 2007 but it does for outlook 2010. When I
press CTRL m to download/check for messages after opening up outlook 2010,
any folder that has an email coming into it, jaws will say the folder name.
lol, you know how annoying that is? To open up your outlook and hear inbox
inbox inbox inbox jaws-users jaws-users jaws-users inbox inbox inbox?

Now there isn't a way to have jaws stop anouncing all that is there?

I am glad I do not experience the behavior in Jaws 13, latest and Windows 7
64 bit. I just have the control backspace and control delete that say blank
instead of the words being deleted, in Word 2010 and Outlook 2010 which does
not happen in Jaws 12 so I know it is not an office 2010 problem.

Hi List:

Does anyone know a good tutorial for the computer illiterate for Outlook
2010?

I have been using XP-Home and Outlook Express with JAWS 10 for years.
However, I am now using a new laptop with Windows 7 and JAWS 11. Outlook
Express is no longer an option and the Live Mail program that came installed
is beyond me so I downloaded a demo of Outlook 2010 and am trying to learn
it but its help menu keeps going out of focus, the delete key and the key
between the insert and enter keys of the number pad don't seem to work and
control+delete is silent all of the time when I try to delete incoming
messages with it and sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. I would like to
try Windows Mail that seems to be a part of Vista (I never did use a
computer with Vista) but have no idea how to put it on a computer with
Windows 7.

Any thoughts on what to do to transfer from being a user of Outlook Express
to becoming at all conversant with Outlook 2010 would be most appreciated.
To reiterate, I am using a laptop with a desktop keyboard with Windows 7,
JAWS 11 and Outlook 2010.

Thanks.

2010-12-18 Thread Kliph
I am using 2010, I don't have a tutorial, but I have a few things that might
help you.
1. Turn off the preview pain in every folder, to do this, hit alt V then the
letters p and then n, once you do this, just arrow down to off and hit
enter.
2. Uncheck for messages to be shown in groups, to do this, hit alt V then
the letters A and then B, then arrow down until you hear messages shown in
groups, the default is for this to be checked, so just hit enter, and it
will uncheck them for you.\
Lastly, you can still use control y to cycle through your folders, but
another way this can be done is by hitting shift tab, and then use your
arrow keys. If you have any more questions, my contact info is below.

Lastly, you can still use control y to cycle through your folders, but
another way this can be done is by hitting shift tab, and then use your
arrow keys. If you have any more questions, my contact info is below.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Outlook 2010

Thanks.

Linda

Dave is right about that, and it works very much like Outlook Express.

It is possible to put windows mail or more accurately enable windows mail on
windows 7. In case you're wondering if this is fact I have done it myself
already for a lady on the west coast last month using tandem. Rick has also
done it so we know it is very doable.

2010-12-19 Thread David Ferrin
I set the self extractor to place the files in a location that was not used
by any other programs for the purpose of making them easy to find. The
directions along with everything else needed will be located there. Once you
are finished you can delete that folder or save the files in case you would
ever need them again. They will be on the web site though so long as the
page is posted on the internet. So which ever method you wish to use it is
entirely up to you.

Ann: I'm not sure I understand what you're suggesting here. It's true this
is a spreadsheet, but it's Web-resident, so that any number of people can
access it. So, I don't know that I could change its name, though the

If it's a spread sheet, can you trick JAWS into believing it's Excel?
Someone else will know better than I, but go to confignames.ini and add a
line reading something like this:
WeirdHomeGrownProgram=excel 2007

I can't find the path to confignames.ini, but windows 7 finds the file.

good luck!

Does pressing alt plus shift plus B bring up your address book the way it

Hello:

Using outlook 2007 I was wondering something.

I noticed when auto fill is checked or whatever its called, every time I
type in an email address or even the first letter of a person a random
email

will pop up. Example, I type k and kimsans...@charter.net will pop up,
instead of ko...@yahoo.com.

So, my question is how can I remove all of those email addresses of which
199% of them I just emailed once and have no need for them anymore. I hope
that question made sense.

Take care everyone.

I think there is an auto-complete action here that you don't need. Don't
remember where in options it is, but I'd look to turn it off.

Does pressing alt plus shift plus B bring up your address book the way it
does with Outlook Express? From there it is just a matter of pressing the
delete key for any email addresses you no longer want.

Hi

In Outlook, the keys stroke for opening the address book is control+shift+b.
