Hit t for tools, o for options.  Tab once and go down the tree to
security (arrow down).  Tab to updates.  Check if you want updates
automatically. I think the default is yes.

I am using Tbird 52.7, I imagine the latest.

Re: [JAWS-Users] ThunderBird, CC, BCC and Subject

2018-04-23 Thread Audiobookfan

Jerry,

If your focus is in the recipient's edit box and you backtab (shift-tab)
you'll find yourself in a combo box. The default for this combo box is
To: but you can choose Cc: or Bcc: from that combo box. If you want to
add additional recipient addresses, just press the enter key when you're
focused on the edit box.

I hope this makes sense. Give it a try and ask again if you can't figure
it out.

Thunderbird help apparently has a tutorial.  See the google search link
below.

You may want to do the google search yourself given the long link or
copy it in  www.tinyurl.com or something like it.

Your top line menu has a help section, which I found useful.  You might
also want to thoroughly familiarize yourself with the Options and
Account areas of the Tools top line menu.

Of course you are correct, I'm glad you pointed that out. however, I

Hi Hareth,

What keystroke is used to reply to a message from a group / list such as
this one, so the reply only goes to this list & noone else? I hope I'm
making sense. Thank you very much for your help.

I'm running later versions of Windows and JAWS (Win 10 and JAWS 18) and
just updated Thunderbird to version 52. It's working fine for me, but
here's a couple of things for you to try.

First, you may have already restarted your computer, but if not, that's
always a good thing to try.

Also, when I have had trouble reading the list view, I've found that
checking the View menu sometimes helps. Try the Sort by, Threads and
Headers menu options.

Hope this helps.

press the hot key it does the same thing the program still does not
respond when it opens just like when I enter the icon on the desk top.

I sure wish I knew what is wrong with it this problem just started this
week.

well thanks for your help any way I will keep trying and let you know if
I figure it out.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Thunderbird

2016-08-11 Thread Jim Pursley
Agree, Mario, about opening/response time. Version 45.2 seems to have
increased the time between clicking a message open for reading and JAWS
starting to read it. This said, I select to read in HTML so I've always
figured that HTML pages take awhile longer to load. But I thought Anna's
latest issue on this thread related to opening the program. I've
noticed no more delay in getting the In Box than prior versions had -
the In Box fills a message at a time.

I probably know a lot less about Tbird than either you or Maria know,
but I'm learning. I've no plans to bail to another email client.

try a hot key. From the Thunderbird icon on the desktop hit the
applications key and hit the letter r for properties. Arrow down to
shortcut key and write in the letter you want. Tab to OK and hit
enter. Control alt plus your letter should open the program forthwith.

Dunno, but I'd suggest opening in a new tab. 45.2 seems to work better
opening maiol in a new tab. You'll also be able to keep your email open
while returning to the in box.

CheckAdd-ons as Mario suggested? Tbird sometimes crashes on me.
Deleting a bunch of sent messages seems to help. But Tbird crashing is
not your keyboard locking up. Are you losing focus? When it appears to
lock up, try turning the numpad key off and clicking the left click
button to the immediate right of the numpdad key button. Alternatively
you can click the left mouse button not on a link and the page will
refocus. I don't lose focus in tbird, but who knows? It could be possible.

You could have a corrupted file, too. repairing Tbird is beyond my pay
grade. Deleting Tbird and redownloading the latest Tbird version is an
extreme option. So is setting your whole computer back to the day
before you downloaded the latest Tbird Version. Finally, it seems like
T'bird's chat group might help.

I do use it, but I wouldn't say that it is windows live mail exactly.
That said, I like Thunderbird but just now with version 45.1.1 I can't
get JAWS to read messages on it. I have to use NVDA to get my email for
now until I figure out what's going on.

2015-07-17 Thread Greg Wocher

Hello,
Yes you can have rules to move messages into specific folders. The only
thing to watch out for is the place where you tell it wich folder to
move the message to is a bit tricky to get work. I usually have to
perform a right click and then hit the applications key to get it to
work. However this is not consistent.

I can probably do it, if I take the time, but yes! Unless, you can tell

know about it!

Interesting post, so you're saying it is too tuff to create message rules in

2015-05-04 Thread Maria Campbell
There is a lot I like about Thunderbird, but there is a lot I don't know
how to manage myself. Forwards is one of those things.
My work around is to go ahead and forward, then page down past the
gobble-dee-gook you speak of till I get to the crux of the message;then
I press the control plus shift plus home page to select it, I delete it,
which makes the forwarded message all better again.

A bit of a pain, but it works.
I wish someone would do a real good tutorial on Thunderbird.

because of a stability issue. I use Thunderbird 31.6.0 and J15.
Control L works fine. Have you tried just the top line menus without

Re: [JAWS-Users] Thunderbird error message

2014-10-13 Thread Jim Pursley
I've never had this message before. roughly how many messages are in
your sent box? Do you frequently send unwanted sent emails to trash?
And empty the trash? Do you have more than one email address on your
Thunderbird system? Each will have its own series of mailboxes, so
emptying trash will be done in the email address you've selected. If
you have more than one, you can set your primary address as default.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Thunderbird and double speaking with jaws

2014-09-14 Thread Jim Pursley
In a bit of frustration about JAWS verbosity in Thunderbird, I selected
advanced verbosity in the Thunderbird JAWS settings (Ins V). Most of
the time I now only hear the in box line once. I also hear the subject
line as the email opens but if I am in a hurry I just arrow down to the
first line and press say all. Control A selects all for me, but does
not always respond audibly so. Try it.

I use most of the default JAWS settings for Thunderbird as I do other
programs.

when i load a message the subject line speaks twice.
Not only that but in the body the subject line shows up when reading
the emails.
also to either edit or select all i have to enter forms mode, or do
insert z what ever that does.

Why is jaws placing the subject line in the body of the email?
What settings do i need to set for jaws to work correctly in thunderbird?

So, what you are saying is that the double speaking accurs but you can
get it not to by using advanced settings?
What about hearing / being able to read/arrow through the subject in the
boday when it is at the top? of the body?

Re: [JAWS-Users] Thunderbird and double speaking with jaws

2014-09-14 Thread Jim Pursley
Double or even triple speaking occurs when new messages arrive and I'm
out of Thunderbird but still have it opened. I've selected to be
informed by an audio sound and speaking detail when new messages
arrive. I just hit the control key to silence the pesky announcement,
but at least I can screen the new mail to see if it's something
demanding immediate attention or not.

Try the advanced setting..just in Thunderbird if you wish. Ins V is
specific to the location you are in when you use it.

I don't find the subject line in the body of a message per se. It's the
first thing JAWS reads. I've set my system for income and outgoing
e-mails to be in HTML, so it takes a few seconds to load the e-mail
message. If I get impatient, I just begin arrowing down to the first
message line, skipping everything else.
